This paper presents a bibliometric analysis of educational research in the Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) from 2008 to 2017. Using GraphPad Prism and VOSviewer tools, we analyzed 3,484 articles from South Korea, Singapore, and Japan. The annual number of published articles from South Korea and Japan increased significantly. Singapore was in the first place in the most accumulated citations, average Times Cited count and 10 high-impact factor journals, because universities in Singapore have extremely stringent criteria about promotion of their faculty and their publication venues. South Korea had the most number of articles in the top 10 most popular journals, which could owing to many South Korea scholars concern nation and regional journals have relative higher acceptance rate. Japan and South Korea had the most common studies concerning educational research. The annual number of articles showed strong positive correlations with research and development (R&D) expenditures and R&D expenditures as a percentage of GDP in South Korea. Plain Language Summary: Publications in Educational Research Journals from Singapore, Japan, and South Korea In this study, the educational research performance of Singapore, Japan, and South Korea between 2008 and 2017 in SSCI was examined from a bibliometric perspective, which also has demonstrated the potential of using GraphPad Prism and VOSviewer tools together. A total of 110,241 education and educational research articles were published between 2008 and 2017 in SSCI, of which 3,484 (3.16%) were from Singapore, Japan, and South Korea. Among these, researchers from South Korea were the most prolific (1,493, 1.35%, 16th highest in the world), followed by Singapore (1,128, 1.02%, 22nd), and Japan (910, 0.83%, 23rd). The annual number of published articles from South Korea and Japan increased significantly (P < 0.05). However, R&D expenditures and R&D expenditures as a percentage of GDP showed strongly positive correlations with the annual number of publications just in South Korea. Singapore had the most accumulated and average Times Cited count. The most highly-cited article was cited 468 times. Of the ten most highly-cited articles, five were from Singapore. Of the 42 articles published in the top ten high-impact education and educational research journals in terms of the impact factors in 2017, 20 were from Singapore. South Korea, accounting for about half the publications, was ranked first from the perspective of the number of articles in the top ten most popular journals. Researchers from Japan and South Korea had the most common studies concerning education and educational research category, probably because Japan is close to South Korea geographically and more related historically. This study aims to reveal the effects of publish or perish culture, which is a product of the marketization of science, in the field of educational administration in Türkiye. For this purpose, a bibliometric analysis of 253 publications written in the field of education management in Türkiye, included in the SSCI index in the Web of Science database, was performed. The distribution of publications by years, type of publication, and the subjects they focus on were examined, and at the same time, the journals published were evaluated according to their impact factors, rankings, and whether they were paid or not. As a result of the analysis, it has been revealed that the effects of the publish or perish culture on the field of educational administration are parallel to its effects on other fields.

With the development of computer and information technology, mobile teaching has enjoyed pride of place among teaching mediums in the past two decades. To visually explore the mobile learning hotspots and trends present in international journals, this study adopted two science mapping tools (CiteSpace and VOSviewer) to first detect and then visualise emerging trends (i.e., hotspots) in the mobile learning literature. A total of 528 mobile learning articles published between 2003 and 2021 that appeared in 21 international educational technology journals indexed in the SSCI database were retrieved for bibliometric analysis. The results show (1) there was a remarkable increase in academic output in this field starting in 2008 that topped out in 2021; (2) co-authorship with academics from diverse countries/regions and institutions was evident; (3) three trending foci in the literature include defining mobile learning, designing learning systems, and exploring mobile learning effectiveness; and (4) the high-frequency co-cited publications focus on the effectiveness of mobile devices via different research methods. This study provides scholars with an accessible summary of the current trends in mobile learning, identifies the active researchers in this field, and reports on which outlets are most relevant for research produced on this topic. In addition, the findings have direct implications for the education and private sectors. Mobile devices are not widely adopted in classroom settings and are often considered a learning tool more suited for out-of-class assignments or practice. Therefore, it is necessary for information technology educators to invest in actively initiating the integration of mobile technology into the classroom. Those in the technology industry should aim to develop mobile devices and relevant educational applications/software that can be utilised not only within the confines of the classroom but also to bridge in-class and out-of-class learning. In other words, the current study aims to identify the most influential and/or productive authors, institutions, and publications in the field of mathematics education in Turkey. Birgin. The most effective and leading institutions in the field are METU, Karadeniz Technical, and Hacettepe Universities. Additionally, co-occurrence analysis indicates mathematical achievement, mathematical modelling, and attitude are the most commonly used author keywords. Co-citation mapping visualizes the knowledge base of the mathematics education research and uncover which subjects the scholars in the field benefited from the research studies of seminal authors. Based on the findings, the current study makes suggestions for the research topics that could be influential and needed further research in the field.

The study analysed Croatian journals covered by Web of Science (WoS) Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) and Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) over three time periods. The first two periods were the periods of inclusion of Croatian journals in SCIE/SSCI, and the third period was the period of exclusion of journals. In 1999, there were 12 Croatian journals indexed, and in 2011, mostly as a result of the WoS Regional Expansion Programme, there were 50 Croatian journals covered by SCIE/SSCI. The IF range of the Croatian journals showed an increase over the years from 1999 to 2011, but most journals remained in the fourth quartile (Q4). Although Croatia is considered as a country from the scientific periphery, in comparison with neighbouring Italy, Hungary, Slovenia, and Serbia in 2005, 2011, and 2018, Croatia had a permanently strong journal representation in JCR.

Educational psychology is a discipline with a relatively long and intricate history. This study contributes to the understanding of the most recent developments of educational psychology research through the exploration of 35,210 articles published in all journals indexed in the Web of Science educational psychology category for the 2000-2019 period. The results of the study show that the volume of research on educational psychology has doubled during this period and a few journals accumulate most of the research produced in the discipline. Most studies have been published in the English language and in the United States, although research produced in China has experienced the greatest growth. Recent research on educational psychology has predominantly addressed 16 research themes over the last 20 years, although research on child-age students, teaching and teacher education, learning and education, assessment and testing, socio-cultural diversity, learning environments, and educational measurement have captured the greatest attention.

Background: Stigmatizing experiences is common in Parkinson's disease (PD) and appears to provide a negative contribution to the quality of life. Our aim of this study was to investigate the extent of stigma and its predictive factors in patients with PD from our hospital in Shanghai, China. Methods: In 276 individuals with PD (135 women and 141 men), stigma was measured by the 24-item Stigma Scale for Chronic Illness (SSCI). Multivariate linear regression model was used to assess predictors of stigma including demographics (age and gender), disease duration, stage (Hoehn and Yahr Scale), motor function (Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale Part 3, UPDRS-III), non-motor symptoms (Non-Motor Symptoms Scale, NMSS), cognitive level (Mini-Mental State Examination, MMSE), as well as anxiety (Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale, HAM-A) and depressive disorders (Hamilton Depression Rating Scale, HAM-D-24). Results: The total score of SSCI was 49.9 ± 14.3, and 48.5% of the patients checked "rarely" to "sometimes." For the total sample, the full model accounted for 47.8% of the variance in stigma (P < 0.05). Higher UPDRS-III scores, longer course of disease, younger age, tremor-dominant subtype, and higher depression scores were significantly associated with stigma among individuals with PD. Conclusion: Our finding suggested a mild-to-moderate level of stigma in patients with PD. This study investigates articles in the SSCI written in the English language and published in the ‘Education & Educational Research’ area between 1980 and 2019. In the study, bibliometric methods were used to detect the number of SSCI articles published worldwide, and also the articles with a Turkish author address entered, meaning at least one author provided Turkey as their location. In addition, analysis was conducted according to various variables (e.g., research areas, publication year, number of authors, and source titles). The bibliometric data were obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection database. With regards to the ‘Education & Educational Research’ area, the analysis indicated the dominance of English-speaking countries in terms of the number of SSCI-indexed articles and those that had been cited the most. This finding appears to be affected by the majority of journals indexed in SSCI only accepting articles written in the English language. In terms of the number of SSCI articles published in the area of ‘Education & Educational Research’, Turkey was shown to be ranked seventh worldwide. Within Turkey, the number of SSCI articles for the ‘Education & Educational Research’ area ranked second, after ‘Business & Economics’. In comparison to the overall worldwide trend, the study's findings suggest that Turkish researchers have a tendency towards publishing their articles in mainly Turkey-originated journals with low impact factors. Factors that may affect this tendency and the potential implications of these findings are discussed, together with the limitations of the study and suggestions for further research.

The current study identified research trends and theory regarding social media influencers. By searching journals related to social media influencers in the Social Sciences Citation Index and Sciences Citation Index Expanded database in the 20-year period between January 2000 and December 2019, we collected 237 research articles pertaining to social media influencers. From an analysis of these articles, we mapped research trends and identified highly influential articles. The theories used in social media influencer research were also identified. This paper details a nonlinear Sliding Mode Control (SMC) based Sub-Synchronous Resonance (SSR) mitigation method for Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) based wind turbines interconnected to series compensated transmission systems. The proposed method is used to control the rotor side converter to mitigate SSR while ensuring decoupled torque and reactive power control ability of the DFIG is maintained. The proposed method is implemented on the detailed DFIG wind turbine model provided in the RTDS platform for validation via simulations. The phase imbalance compensation concept is proposed in literature as an alternative way to mitigate classical subsynchronous resonance (SSR) problems in series-compensated transmission lines. However, a fundamental analysis to determine this concept’s ability to mitigate resonances between a doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) and a series compensated transmission line, i.e., DFIG-SSR, is not reported in literature. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to investigate to which extent phase imbalance compensation is able to mitigate DFIG-SSR. For the phase imbalance compensation scheme, an analytical model that captures the relation between the level of series compensation, the degree of asymmetry between the compensated phases, and the resulting shift in resonance frequency is developed and validated using time domain simulations. Then, an optimisation framework is developed to search for an adequate level of compensation asymmetry, capable of mitigating the adverse interactions. The optimisation allows us to show that, even with the best set of parameters, phase imbalance compensation is not suitable for mitigating DFIG-SSR. The analytical model enables us to explain the underlying physical reasons for this and an attempt is made to explain why this concept is theoretically able to mitigate classical resonance issues. Lastly, directions for future research are identified.

The replacement of conventional generation by power electronics-based generation changes the dynamic characteristics of the power system. This results in, among other things, the increased susceptibility to subsynchronous oscillations (SSO). First, this paper discusses three recently emerging SSO phenomena, which arise due to the interactions between (1) a doubly-fed induction generator and a series compensated transmission system; (2) a voltage source converter (VSC) and a weak grid; and (3) nearby VSCs. A fundamental review of these phenomena resulted in the requirement for a reclassification of the existing SSO phenomena. This reclassification is proposed in this work and is based on interacting components identified using participation factor analysis for the distinct phenomena. Second, a critical review of the existing mitigation measures is performed for these phenomena, highlighting the advantages and disadvantages of the solutions. The influence of the wind speed, grid strength, number of wind turbines, and several converter controller parameters are also discussed. To assist equipment manufacturers, control design engineers, and system operators in selecting and designing effective mitigation measures, the existing solutions are categorized in control solutions, hardware solutions, and solutions based on system level coordination. Finally, perspectives on open issues conclude this paper.

Li et al. (2019) used inappropriate searching words and method to publish a bibliometric paper in Water. The results show a huge difference from the results by using an appropriate method. This comment points out each of problems.

Spectral Vegetation Indices (SVIs) have been used to examine variations in vegetation formation and phenology. Lately, researchers and agricultural practitioners have utilized SVIs to examine various soil properties for instance moisture and nutrients. From our review of the literature, there were few comprehensive studies conducted to know whether it is possible or not to predict landscape function indices by using remote sensing technology, and which spectral vegetation index is the best predictor. It has been shown that landscape function indices can be accurately predicted by Normalized Different Vegetation Index (NDVI). Therefore, we attempted to test the ability of selected SVIs to predict landscape function indices (LFA-SSA) in the Mediterranean steppes of Al-Jabal Al-Akhdar, northeast Libya. We used data collected between May and October of 2006 and 2014. A total of 28 sites were chosen to collect the data for both SVIs and LFA-SSA. Simple linear regression was applied between LFA-SSA and SVIs. The results demonstrated that there is a positive linear relationship between LFA-SSC and the selected SVIs. The findings revealed that the Normalized Different Vegetation Index (NDVI) and Modified Soil Adjusted Vegetation Index (MSAVI) acquired from the Landsat Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+) could be utilized in predicting the variability of significant structural and functional qualities of soil and vegetation in the Mediterranean climate.

Methods: “Occupational therapy” and “occupational therapist” were used as keywords to search journal articles’ publication title, abstract, author details, keywords, and KeyWords Plus. One of the authors had to be identified as a qualified occupational therapist with a British affiliation. Results: From 1991 to 2015, 680 journal articles were published by British occupational therapy authors. The top three journals in which authors published were the British Journal of Occupational Therapy, Clinical Rehabilitation, and Disability and Rehabilitation. The five institutions that generated the largest number of occupational therapy articles were the University of Nottingham, Brunel University London, University of Southampton, Queen Margaret University, and the University of East Anglia. British authors often collaborated in the writing of manuscripts with other authors from Australia, the United States, Canada, and Sweden. Conclusion: The quantity of occupational therapy peer-reviewed literature written by British authors has increased over the last 2 decades. British authors have made and continue to make noteworthy contributions to the profession’s body of refereed knowledge at the national and international levels.

With the dissemination of knowledge in higher education, the publish or perish principle has become the norm for academics around the world to remain competitive. The Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) phenomenon has thus emerged in academia and been utilized as a benchmark for research excellence and tenure considerations. While research has revealed that the publish or perish principle could have a multitude of issues in higher education, little attempts have been made to explore academics' outlook on the SSCI phenomenon in a broader geographical area, particularly in the field of English language teaching (ELT). To bridge this gap, twelve ELT academics were recruited from China, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan with an aim to explore their perceptions, attitudes, and their perceived pros and cons of the SSCI phenomenon in their own institutions. Qualitative data were collected and analyzed through an interview protocol based on a matrix analysis via phenomenology. The findings demonstrate four conceptualizations that are formed and predicated on the SSCI phenomenon. Data also evince that although these academics were recruited from different countries, the SSCI phenomenon seems to be identical with regard to how academics are evaluated for promotion and tenure at the expense of several salient practices in ELT. This study used all-journal data and systematic random sampling data to primarily determine the average number of issues per year and the average number of articles per issue among the Science Citation Index (SCI), Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI), Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD) (China), and Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI) (China) journals. The random sampling data were based on 5% SCI and SSCI samples and 10% CSCD and CSSCI samples. The objectives were to have a 2018−2019 record of the journal publication frequency detailing the number of articles per issue and the number of issues per year for the journals on the lists, as well as to compare Chinese journals’ data with those of international journals, in the perspective of scholarly publishing transformations in the world as well as in China during the past two decades. The study found that the average number of issues per year for SCI, SSCI, CSCD, and CSSCI journals was 10.95, 5.18, 9.17, and 7.87, respectively, and that CSCD/CSSCI journals publish more articles than SCI/SSCI, with CSSCI journals publishing significantly more articles per year than SSCI journals. The author fees for non-OA journals in China could play a role in the higher number of articles. The “mega journal” phenomenon does not seem to be a common practice among all the journal lists studied.

The purpose of this study is to examine special education research trends in Turkey through analyzing articles about special education published in five Turkish journals entered in the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI). Hacettepe University Journal of Education, Turkish Journal of Psychology, Education and Science, Eurasian Journal of Educational Research, and Educational Sciences: Theory & Practice are the journals included in the study. Content analysis method was used for data analysis; all the accessible issues of included journals were quantified within the framework of the established codes. According to the findings, the total number of articles in 334 issues of five journals is 4478; the number of articles published in the field of special education is 113, and the ratio of special education articles within all articles is %2.52. Additionally, 33.63% of the authors of the articles were associated with Anadolu University while 24.78% were associated with Ankara University. Furthermore, the number of published articles in the field of special education has steadily increased during the years, and the period when the highest number articles were published is after 2011. The obtained data were discussed within the context of developments in special education in Turkey. We compared the Croatian research output with the neighboring countries and the Croatian universities with the largest Slovenian, Hungarian, and Serbian universities. As far as papers listed by Social Science Citation Index are concerned, since 2000 the University of Zagreb exhibits best results in social sciences compared to the competing universities, that is not the case in “hard” sciences. For the last 12 years, only the University of Ljubljana has shown better results in total research output than the University of Zagreb. The difference in research output between the University of Zagreb and the rest of the Croatian universities has been constantly decreasing. As a case study we compare research output at Faculty of Civil Engeenering on different Croatian universities. By analyzing European countries, we show a functional dependence between the gross domestic product (GDP) and the research output. From this fit we conclude that the Croatian science exhibits research output as expected for the given level of GDP.

Los resultados de la investigación en Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades se publican en una tipología de documentos muy variada y tienen una proyección más restringida que los derivados de la investigación en Ciencias Naturales y Experimentales. Por tanto, la construcción de indicadores bibliométricos útiles para el análisis y evaluación de la misma, así como para establecer comparaciones internacionales en estas áreas es sumamente difícil. Este trabajo es uno de los primeros intentos para conocer la investigación realizada en Argentina en estas áreas y abarca el periodo comprendido entre 1990 y 2000. Los indicadores utilizados, basados en el recuento de publicaciones recogidas en las bases de datos del Social Sciences Citation Index y Arts & Humanities Citation Index muestran los hábitos de publicación, las revistas más utilizadas y las disciplinas más productivas de los investigadores argentinos. Destaca la evolución creciente del número de publicaciones a lo largo del período estudiado. Los resultados indican la ausencia de colaboración en el campo de las Humanidades, frente a una tasa de cooperación en el campo de las Ciencias Sociales algo más elevada, sobre todo a expensas de las colaboraciones internacionales.
