We study the local thermal entanglement in a spin-1/2 Ising-$XXZ$ diamond structure with two impurities. In this spin chain, we have the two impurities with an isolated $XXZ$ dimer between them. We focus on the study of the thermal entanglement in this dimer. The main goal of this paper is to provide a good understanding of the effect of impurities in the entanglement of the model. This model is exactly solved by a rigorous treatment based on the transfer-matrix method. Our results show that the entanglement can be tuned by varying the impurities parameters in this system. In addition, it is shown that the thermal entanglement for such a model exhibits a clear performance improvement when we control and manipulate the impurities compared to the original model without impurities. Finally, the impurities can be manipulated to locally control the thermal entanglement, unlike the original model where it is done globally., Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures

Recently has been observed for some one-dimensional models that exhibit unexpected pseudo-transitions and quasi-phases. This pseudo-transition resembles a first- and second-order phase transition simultaneously. One of those models is the spin-1/2 Ising-XYZ diamond chain, composed of Ising spin particles at the nodal sites and the Heisenberg spin particles at the interstitial sites. Where we assume Ising-type interaction between the nodal and interstitial sites, the Heisenberg-type interaction between interstitial sites, and with an external magnetic field applied along the z-axis. This model presents an exact analytical solution applying the transfer matrix technique, which shows 3 phases at zero temperature in the vicinity of pseudo-transition. The pseudo-transition separates quasi-phases, these quasi-phases still hold at a finite temperature most of the pattern configurations of a true phase at zero temperature. Here we study the quantum entanglement of pair spin particles in the quasi-phase regions, which can be measured through the concurrence. Then we observe an unexpected behavior in the concurrence, that is below pseudo-critical temperature the concurrence remains almost constant up to pseudo-critical temperature, but above the pseudo-critical temperature, the concurrence behaves as for the standard one-dimensional spin models. Further, we consider the entropy behavior of the system, below pseudo-critical temperature the entropy becomes almost null, while above pseudo-critical temperature the system exhibits standard behavior as for ordinary one-dimensional spin models., Comment: 5 pages, 2 figures

We consider a spin-1/2 Ising-XYZ distorted diamond chain with the XYZ interaction between the interstitial Heisenberg dimers, the nearest-neighbor Ising coupling between the nodal and interstitial spins, respectively, and the second-neighbor Ising coupling between the nodal spins. The ground-state phase diagram of the spin-1/2 Ising-XYZ distorted diamond chain exhibits several intriguing phases due to the XY anisotropy and the second-neighbor interaction, whereas the model can be exactly solved using the transfer-matrix technique. The quantum entanglement within the Heisenberg spin dimers is studied through a bipartite measure concurrence, which is calculated from a relevant reduced density operator. The concurrence may either show a standard thermal dependence with a monotonous decline with increasing temperature or a more peculiar thermal dependence accompanied with reentrant behavior of the concurrence. It is conjectured that the bipartite entanglement between the interstitial Heisenberg spin pairs in the natural mineral azurite is quite insensitive to the applied magnetic field and it persists up to approximately 30 Kelvins., Comment: 9 pages, 7 figures

The quantum teleportation plays an important role in quantum information process, in this sense, the quantum entanglement properties involving an infinite chain structure is quite remarkable because real materials could be well represented by an infinite chain. We study the teleportation of an entangled state through a couple of quantum channels, composed by Heisenberg dimers in an infinite Ising-Heisenberg diamond chain, the couple of chains are considered sufciently far away from each other to be ignored the any interaction between them . To teleporting a couple of qubits through the quantum channel, we need to find the average density operator for Heisenberg spin dimers, which will be used as quantum channels. Assuming the input state as a pure state, we can apply the concept of fidelity as a useful measurement of teleportation performance of a quantum channel. Using the standard teleportation protocol, we have derived an analytical expression for the output concurrence, fidelity, and average fidelity. We study in detail the effects of coupling parameters, external magnetic field and temperature dependence of quantum teleportation. Finally, we explore the relations between entanglement of the quantum channel, the output entanglement and the average fidelity of the system. Through a kind of phase diagram as a function of Ising-Heisenberg diamond chain model parameters, we illustrate where the quantum teleportation will succeed and a region where the quantum teleportation could fail., Comment: 8 pages, 10 figures

Zero temperature non-plateau magnetization is a peculiar property of a quantum spin chain and it sometimes appears due to different gyromagnetic factors. In this study, we illustrate a quite unusual nonplateau magnetization property driven by XY-anisotropy in an Ising-XYZ diamond chain. Two particles with spin-1/2 are bonded by XYZ coupling and they are responsible for the emergence of non-plateau magnetization. These two quantum operator spins are bonded to two nodal Ising spins and this process is repeated infinitely to yield a diamond chain structure. Due to the non-plateau magnetization property, we focus our discussion on the magnetocaloric effect of this model by presenting the isentropic curves and the Gruneisen parameters, as well as showing the regions where the model exhibits an efficient magnetocaloric effect. Due to the existence of two phases located very close to each other, the strong XY-anisotropy exhibits a particular behavior with a magnetocaloric effect, with a wider interval in the magnetic field, where the magnetocaloric effect is efficient., Comment: 6 pages, 8 figures

We study the dynamical entanglement of two identical atoms interacting with a quantum field. As a simplified model for this physical system we consider two harmonic oscillators linearly coupled to a massless scalar field in the dressed coordinates and states approach and enclose the whole system inside a spherical cavity of radius R. Through a quantity called concurrence, the entanglement evolution for the two-atom system will be discussed, for a range of initial states composed of a superposition of atomic states. Our results reveals how the concurrence of the two atoms behaves through the time evolution, for arbitrary cavity size and for arbitrary coupling constant, weak, intermediate or strong. All our computations are exact and only the final step is numerical. These numerical solutions give us fascinating results for the concurrence, such as quasi-random fluctuations, with a resemblance of periodicity. Another interesting result we found is when the system is initially maximally entangled (disentangled), after the time t = 2R, the system becomes again strongly entangled (disentangled) particularly during the first oscillations, later this phenomenon could be wrecked depending on the initial condition. The strongly correlated spin-electron system on a diamond chain containing localized Ising spins on its nodal lattice sites and mobile electrons on its interstitial sites is exactly solved in a magnetic field using the transfer-matrix method. We have investigated in detail all available ground states, the magnetization processes, the spin-spin correlation functions around an elementary plaquette, fermionic quantum concurrence and spin frustration. It is shown that the fermionic entanglement between mobile electrons hopping on interstitial sites and the kinetically-induced spin frustration are closely related yet independent phenomena. In the ground state, quantum entanglement only appears within a frustrated unsaturated paramagnetic phase, while thermal fluctuations can promote some degree of quantum entanglement above the non-frustrated ground states with saturated paramagnetic or classical ferrimagnetic spin arrangements., Comment: 11 pages, 10 figures

Quantum entanglement is one of the most fascinating types of correlation that can be shared only among quantum systems. The Heisenberg chain is one of the simplest quantum chains which exhibits a reach entanglement feature, due to the Heisenberg interaction is quantum coupling in the spin system. The two particles were coupled trough XYZ coupling or simply called as two-qubit XYZ spin, which are the responsible for the emergence of thermal entanglement. These two-qubit operators are bonded to two nodal Ising spins, and this process is repeated infinitely resulting in a diamond chain structure. We will discuss two-qubit thermal entanglement effect on Ising-XYZ diamond chain structure. The concurrence could be obtained straightforwardly in terms of two-qubit density operator elements, using this result, we study the thermal entanglement, as well as the threshold temperature where entangled state vanishes. The present model displays a quite unusual concurrence behavior, such as, the boundary of two entangled regions becomes a disentangled region, this is intrinsically related to the XY-anisotropy in the Heisenberg coupling. Typically two particles (spins) could be maximally entangled at zero temperature, and for a certain temperature the phenomenon of entanglement vanishes at the threshold temperature. For the Heisenberg coupled model or even the Ising model with a transverse magnetic field, one can observe some rise of entanglement even for a disentangled region at zero temperature. So we can understand this emergence of entanglement at finite temperature as being due to the mixing of some maximally entangled states with some other untangled states. Here, we present a simple one-dimensional Ising model with alternating Ising and Heisenberg spins in an arbitrarily oriented magnetic field, which can be mapped onto the classical Ising model with a magnetic field. This model does not show any evidence of entanglement at zero temperature, but surprisingly at finite temperature rise a pairwise thermal entanglement between two untangled spins at zero temperature, when an arbitrarily oriented magnetic field is applied. This effect is a purely magnetic field,and the temperature dependence, as soon as the temperature increases, causes a small increase in concurrence achieving its maximum at around 0.1. Even for long-range entanglement, a weak concurrence still survives. There are also some real materials that could serve as candidates that would exhibit this effect, such as Dy(NO$_{3}$)(DMSO)$_{2}$Cu(opba)(DMSO)$_{2}$., Comment: 5 pages and 4 figures

Water fountain stars represent a stage between the asymptotic giant branch (AGB) and planetary nebulae phases, when the mass loss changes from spherical to bipolar. These types of evolved objects are characterized by high-velocity jets in the 22 GHz water maser emission. We surveyed the CO and 13CO line emission towards a sample of ten water fountain stars through observing the J=1-0 and 2-1 lines of CO and 13CO, using the 30m IRAM radio telescope at Pico Veleta. All the water fountains visible from the observatory were surveyed. Most of the line emission arises from foreground or background Galactic clouds, and we had to thoroughly analyse the spectra to unveil the velocity components related to the stars. In two sources, IRAS 18460-0151 and IRAS 18596+0315, we identified wide velocity components with a width of 35-40 km/s that are centred at the stellar velocities. These wide components can be associated with the former AGB envelope of the progenitor star. A third case, IRAS 18286-0959, is reported as tentative; in this case a pair of narrow velocity components, symmetrically located with respect to the stellar velocity, has been discovered. We also modelled the line emission using an LVG code and derived some global physical parameters, which allowed us to discuss the possible origin of this gas in relation to the known bipolar outflows. For IRAS 18460-0151 and IRAS 18596+0315, we derived molecular masses close to 0.2 solar masses, mean densities of 10^4 cm^{-3}, and mass-loss rates of 10^{-4} M_sun/yr. The kinetic temperatures are rather low, between 10 and 50 K in both cases, which suggests that the CO emission is arising from the outer and cooler regions of the envelopes. Most quantum entanglement investigations are focused on two qubits or some finite (small) chain structure, since the infinite chain structure is a considerably cumbersome task. Therefore, the quantum entanglement properties involving an infinite chain structure is quite important, not only because the mathematical calculation is cumbersome but also because real materials are well represented by an infinite chain. Thus, in this paper we consider an entangled diamond chain with Ising and anisotropic Heisenberg (Ising-XXZ) coupling. Two interstitial particles are coupled through Heisenberg coupling or simply two-qubit Heisenberg, which could be responsible for the emergence of entanglement. These two-qubit Heisenberg operators are interacted with two nodal Ising spins. An infinite diamond chain is organized by interstitial-interstitial and nodal-interstitial (dimer-monomer) site couplings. We are able to get the thermal average of the two-qubit operator, called the reduced two-qubit density operator. Since these density operators are spatially separated, we could obtain the concurrence (entanglement) directly in the thermodynamic limit. The thermal entanglement (concurrence) is constructed for different values of the anisotropic Heisenberg parameter, magnetic field and temperature. The main purpose of this work is to show that massless Dirac equation formulated for non-interacting Majorana-Weyl spinors in higher dimensions, particularly in D=1+9 and D=5+5, can lead to an interpretation of massive Majorana and Dirac spinors in D=1+3. By adopting suitable representations of the Dirac matrices in higher dimensions, we pursue the investigation of which higher dimensional space-times and which mass-shell relation concerning massless Dirac equations in higher dimensions may induce massive spinors in D=1+3. The mixing of the chiral fermions in higher dimensions may induce a mechanism such that four massive Majorana fermions may show up and, at an appropriate limit an almost zero and a huge mass show up with corresponding left-handed and right-handed eigenstates. This mechanism, in a peculiar way, could reassess the See-Saw scheme associated to neutrino with Majorana-type masses. Remarkably the masses of the particles are fixed by the dimension decoupling/reduction scheme based on the mass Lorentz invariant term, where one set of the decoupled dimensions are the "target" coordinates frame and the other set of coordinates is the composing block of the mass term in lower dimensions. This proposal should allow us to understand the generation of hierarchies, such as the fourth generation, for the fermionic masses in D=1+3, or in lower dimensions in general, starting from the constraints between the energy and the momentum in D=n+n. For the initial D=5+5 Majorana-Weyl spinors framework using the Weyl representation to the Dirac matrices we observe an intriguing decomposition of space-time that result in two very equivalent D=1+4 massive spinors which mass term, in D=1+3 included, is originated from the remained/decoupled component and that could induce a Brane-World mechanism., Comment: 19 pages, 1 figure, jhep format

Through the direct decoration transformation approach, we obtain a general solution for the pentagonal Ising model, showing its equivalence to the isotropic free-fermion eight-vertex model. We study the ground-state phase diagram, in which one ferromagnetic (FM) state, one ferrimagnetic (FIM) state, and one frustrated state are found. Using the exact solution of the pentagonal Ising model, we discuss the finite-temperature phase diagrams and find a phase transition between the FIM state and the disordered state as well as a phase transition between the disordered state and the FM state. We also discuss some additional remarkable properties of the model, such as the magnetization, entropy, and specific heat, at finite temperature and at its low-temperature asymptotic limit. Because of the influence of the second-order phase transition between the frustrated and ferromagnetic phases, we obtain surprisingly low values of the entropy and the specific heat until the critical temperature is reached., Comment: 12 pages and 18 figures

Solving the continuum radiative transfer equation in high opacity media requires sophisticated numerical tools. In order to test the reliability of such tools, we present a benchmark of radiative transfer codes in a 2D disc configuration. We test the accuracy of seven independently developed radiative transfer codes by comparing the temperature structures, spectral energy distributions, scattered light images, and linear polarisation maps that each model predicts for a variety of disc opacities and viewing angles. The test cases have been chosen to be numerically challenging, with midplane optical depths up 10^6, a sharp density transition at the inner edge and complex scattering matrices. We also review recent progress in the implementation of the Monte Carlo method that allow an efficient solution to these kinds of problems and discuss the advantages and limitations of Monte Carlo codes compared to those of discrete ordinate codes. For each of the test cases, the predicted results from the radiative transfer codes are within good agreement. We computed the actions for the 1D N=5 sigma-models with respect to the two inequivalent (2,8,6) multiplets. 4 supersymmetry generators are manifest, while the constraint originated by imposing the 5-th supersymmetry automatically induces a full N=8 off-shell invariance. The resulting action coincides in the two cases and corresponds to a conformally flat 2D target satisfying a special geometry of rigid type. To obtain these results we developed a computational method (for Maple 11) which does not require the notion of superfields and is instead based on the nowadays available list of the inequivalent representations of the 1D N-extended supersymmetry. Its application to systematically analyze the sigma-models off-shell invariant actions for the remaining N=5,6,7,8 (k,8,8-k) multiplets, as well as for the N>8 representations,only requires more cumbersome computations., Comment: 10 pages; one reference added

We investigate supergroups with Grassmann parameters replaced by odd Clifford parameters. The connection with non-anticommutative supersymmetry is discussed. A Berezin-like calculus for odd Clifford variables is introduced. Fermionic covariant derivatives for supergroups with odd Clifford variables are derived. Applications to supersymmetric quantum mechanics are made. Deformations of the original supersymmetric theories are encountered when the fermionic covariant derivatives do not obey the graded Leibniz property. The simplest non-trivial example is given by the N=2 SQM with a real $(1,2,1)$ multiplet and a cubic potential. The action is real. Depending on the overall sign ("Euclidean" or "Lorentzian") of the deformation, a Bender-Boettcher pseudo-hermitian hamiltonian is encountered when solving the equation of motion of the auxiliary field. We present an algorithmic classification of the irreps of the $N$-extended one-dimensional supersymmetry algebra linearly realized on a finite number of fields. Our work is based on the 1-to-1 \cite{pt} correspondence between Weyl-type Clifford algebras (whose irreps are fully classified) and classes of irreps of the $N$-extended 1D supersymmetry. The complete classification of irreps is presented up to $N\leq 10$. The fields of an irrep are accommodated in $l$ different spin states. N=10 is the minimal value admitting length $l>4$ irreps. The classification of length-4 irreps of the N=12 and {\em real} N=11 extended supersymmetries is also explicitly presented.\par Tensoring irreps allows us to systematically construct manifestly ($N$-extended) supersymmetric multi-linear invariants {\em without} introducing a superspace formalism. Multi-linear invariants can be constructed both for {\em unconstrained} and {\em multi-linearly constrained} fields. A whole class of off-shell invariant actions are produced in association with each irreducible representation. The explicit example of the N=8 off-shell action of the $(1,8,7)$ multiplet is presented.\par Tensoring zero-energy irreps leads us to the notion of the {\em fusion algebra} of the 1D $N$-extended supersymmetric vacua., Comment: Final version to appear in JHEP. 52 pages. Some properties of the non-commutative versions of the sine-Gordon model (NCSG) and the corresponding massive Thirring theories (NCMT) are studied. Our method relies on the NC extension of integrable models and the master Lagrangian approach to deal with dual theories. The master Lagrangians turn out to be the NC versions of the so-called affine Toda model coupled to matter fields (NCATM) associated to the group GL(2), in which the Toda field belongs to certain representations of either $U(1){x} U(1)$ or $U(1)_{C}$ corresponding to the Lechtenfeld et al. (NCSG$_{1}$) or Grisaru-Penati (NCSG$_{2}$) proposals for the NC versions of the sine-Gordon model, respectively. Besides, the relevant NCMT$_{1, 2}$ models are written for two (four) types of Dirac fields corresponding to the Moyal product extension of one (two) copy(ies) of the ordinary massive Thirring model. The NCATM$_{1,2}$ models share the same one-soliton (real Toda field sector of model 2) exact solutions, which are found without expansion in the NC parameter $\theta$ for the corresponding Toda and matter fields describing the strong-weak phases, respectively. Quaternionic and octonionic realizations of Clifford algebras and spinors are classified and explicitly constructed in terms of recursive formulas. The most general free dynamics in arbitrary signature space-times for both quaternionic and octonionic spinors is presented. In the octonionic case we further provide a systematic list of results and tables expressing, e.g., the relations of the octonionic Clifford algebras with the $G_2$ cosets over the Lorentz algebras, the identities satisfied by the higher-rank antisymmetric octonionic tensors and so on. Applications of these results range from the classification of octonionic generalized supersymmetries, the construction of octonionic superstrings, as well as the investigations concerning the recently discovered octonionic $M$-superalgebra and its superconformal extension., Comment: 24 pages, LaTex

The classification of the octonionic realizations of the one-dimensional extended supersymmetries is here furnished. These are non-associative realizations which, albeit inequivalent, are put in correspondence with a subclass of the already classified associative representations for 1D extended supersymmetries. Examples of dynamical systems invariant under octonionic realizations of the extended supersymmetries are given. The symmetry algebra of a QFT in the presence of an external EM background (named "residual symmetry") is investigated within a Lie-algebraic, model independent scheme. Some results previously encountered in the literature are here extended. In particular we compute the symmetry algebra for a constant EM background in D=3 and D=4 dimensions. In D= 3 dimensions the residual symmetry algebra is isomorphic to $u(1)\oplus {\cal P}_c(2)$, with ${\cal P}_c(2)$ the centrally extended 2-dimensional Poincar\'e algebra. In D=4 dimension the generic residual symmetry algebra is given by a seven-dimensional solvable Lie algebra which is explicitly computed. A model is presented for obtaining the step formation energy for metallic islands on (111) surfaces from Monte Carlo simulations. This model is applied to homo (Cu/Cu(111), Ag/Ag(111)) and heteroepitaxy (Ag/Pt(111)) systems. The embedded atom method is used to represent the interaction between the particles of the system, but any other type of potential could be used as well. A supersymmetric affinization of the algebra of octonions is introduced. It satisfies a super-Malcev property and is N=8 supersymmetric. Its Sugawara construction recovers, in a special limit, the non-associative N=8 superalgebra of Englert et al. Higher dimensional Majorana-Weyl spacetimes present space-time dualities which are induced by the Spin(8) triality automorphisms. Different signature versions of theories such as 10-dimensional SYM's, superstrings, five-branes, F-theory, are shown to be interconnected via the S_3 permutation group. Bilinear and trilinear invariants under space-time triality are introduced and their possible relevance in building models possessing a space-versus-time exchange symmetry is discussed. Moreover the Cartan's ``vector/chiral spinor/antichiral spinor" triality of SO(8) and SO(4,4) is analyzed in detail and explicit formulas are produced in a Majorana-Weyl basis.
