In this paper we present a fractal Berreman's model which account for azimuthal surface anchoring of nematic liquid crystals which play a leading role nowadays in biomedical field and pharmaceutical controlled release dosage forms. The model is based on the concept of “product-like fractal measure” in anisotropic media which permits to describe liquid crystals formation in terms of fractal dimensions. It was observed that fractal dimensions affect both the polar azimuthal angle and the Franck excess elastic energy density of the distortion. For fractal dimensions close to unity, our analysis reveals the emergence of fluctuations and large deformations in the dynamical variables of the theory which suggest the presence of non-linear elastic instabilities or emergence of defect structures in liquid crystals. These fluctuations fade away for fractal dimensions much less than unity. We have evaluated the elastic energy per unit of area which is found to depend on the square of the fractal dimension. This leads to a decrease of the saturation voltage which is necessary to reduce the elastic energy of liquid crystals films in order to minimize the elastic energy. This reduction may describe nematic liquid crystals free from deformations, singularities or weak anchoring surfaces.

In this study, novel criteria are derived to ensure the oscillation of solutions in nonlinear advanced noncanonical dynamic equations. The obtained results are reminiscent of the criteria proposed by Hille and Ohriska for canonical dynamic equations. Additionally, this paper addresses a previously unresolved issue found in numerous existing works in the literature on advanced dynamic equations. This study provides a range of illustrative examples to showcase the precision, practicality, and adaptability of the obtained findings.

The analysis of nuclear reactors in dissimilar geometries is an important topic in sciences and engineering. Two approaches are used in literature for homogeneous systems: computational and analytical methods. In this study, an analytical solution based on a variable coefficient advection is introduced. Such a coefficient is analogous to the addition of a damping term in the static neutron diffusion equation due to dissipations which are important in nuclear reactors. This coefficient plays also an imperative role in wave theory and is of a particular interest to applied physicists. Both the parallelepiped and the homogeneous bare cylinder reactors geometries were analyzed in this work. It was observed that the higher advection gradient, the lower the maximum neutron flux occurring in the nuclear core, a result which is practical for different reactors shapes.

The objective of this paper is to derive new Hille type and Ohriska type criteria for third-order nonlinear dynamic functional equations in the form of a2(ζ)φα2a1ζφα1xΔ(ζ)ΔΔ+q(ζ)φαx(g(ζ))=0, on a time scale T, where Δ is the forward operator on T, α1, α2, α>0, and g, q, ai, i = 1, 2, are positive rd-continuous functions on T, and φθ(u):=uθ−1u. Our results in this paper are new and substantial for dynamic equations of the third order on arbitrary time scales. An example is included to illustrate the results.

In this work, we develop enhanced Hille-type oscillation conditions for arbitrary-time, second-order quasilinear functional dynamic equations. These findings extend and improve previous research that has been published in the literature. Some examples are given to demonstrate the importance of the obtained results.

There is great focus on phenomena that depend on their past history or their past state. The mathematical models of these phenomena can be described by differential equations of a self-referred type. This paper is devoted to studying the solvability of a state-dependent integro-differential inclusion. The existence and uniqueness of solutions to a state-dependent functional integro-differential inclusion with delay nonlocal condition is studied. We, moreover, conclude the existence of solutions to the problem with the integral condition and the infinite-point boundary one. Some properties of the solutions are given. Finally, two examples illustrating the main result are presented.

Despite the recycling challenges in ionic fluids, they have a significant advantage over traditional solvents. Ionic liquids make it easier to separate the end product and recycle old catalysts, particularly when the reaction media is a two-phase system. In the current analysis, the properties of transient, electroviscous, ternary hybrid nanofluid flow through squeezing parallel infinite plates is reported. The ternary hybrid nanofluid is synthesized by dissolving the titanium dioxide (TiO2), aluminum oxide (Al2O3), and silicon dioxide (SiO2) nanoparticles in the carrier fluid glycol/water. The purpose of the current study is to maximize the energy and mass transfer rate for industrial and engineering applications. The phenomena of fluid flow is studied, with the additional effects of the magnetic field, heat absorption/generation, chemical reaction, and activation energy. The ternary hybrid nanofluid flow is modeled in the form of a system of partial differential equations, which are subsequently simplified to a set of ordinary differential equations through resemblance substitution. The obtained nonlinear set of dimensionless ordinary differential equations is further solved, via the parametric continuation method. For validity purposes, the outcomes are statistically compared to an existing study. The results are physically illustrated through figures and tables. It is noticed that the mass transfer rate accelerates with the rising values of Lewis number, activation energy, and chemical reaction. The velocity and energy transfer rate boost the addition of ternary NPs to the base fluid.

In this paper, we study the general solution of the functional equation, which is derived from additive–quartic mappings. In addition, we establish the generalized Hyers–Ulam stability of the additive–quartic functional equation in Banach spaces by using direct and fixed point methods.

In this paper, we investigate the existence results for nonlinear fractional q-difference equations with two different fractional orders supplemented with the Dirichlet boundary conditions. Our main existence results are obtained by applying the contraction mapping principle and Krasnoselskii’s fixed point theorem. An illustrative example is also discussed.

In this study, a new oscillation criterion for the fourth-order neutral delay differential equation ruxu+puxδu‴α′+quxβϕu=0,u≥u0 is established. By introducing a Riccati substitution, we obtain a new criterion for oscillation without requiring the existence of the unknown function. Furthermore, the new criterion improves and complements the previous results in the literature. The results obtained are illustrated by an example.

This report examines the heat and mass transfer in three-dimensional second grade non-Newtonian fluid in the presence of a variable magnetic field. Heat transfer is presented with the involvement of thermal relaxation time and variable thermal conductivity. The generalized theory for mass flux with variable mass diffusion coefficient is considered in the transport of species. The conservation laws are modeled in simplified form via boundary layer theory which results as a system of coupled non-linear partial differential equations. Group similarity analysis is engaged for the conversion of derived conservation laws in the form of highly non-linear ordinary differential equations. The solution is obtained vial optimal homotopy procedure (OHP). The convergence of the scheme is shown through error analysis. The obtained solution is displayed through graphs and tables for different influential parameters.

In this article, we prove some new oscillation theorems for fourth-order differential equations. New oscillation results are established that complement related contributions to the subject. We use the Riccati technique and the integral averaging technique to prove our results. As proof of the effectiveness of the new criteria, we offer more than one practical example.

Graph connectivity theory is important in network implementations, transportation, network routing and network tolerance, among other things. Separation edges and vertices refer to single points of failure in a network, and so they are often sought-after. Chandramouleeswaran et al. introduced the principle of semiring valued graphs, also known as S-valued symmetry graphs, in 2015. Since then, works on S-valued symmetry graphs such as vertex dominating set, edge dominating set, regularity, etc. have been done. However, the connectivity of S-valued graphs has not been studied. Motivated by this, in this paper, the concept of connectivity in S-valued graphs has been studied. We have introduced the term vertex S-connectivity and edge S-connectivity and arrived some results for connectivity of a complete S-valued symmetry graph, S-path and S-star. Unlike the graph theory, we have observed that the inequality for connectivity κ(G)≤κ′(G)≤δ(G) holds in the case of S-valued graphs only when there is a symmetry of the graph as seen in Examples 3–5.

In this work, we obtained new sufficient and necessary conditions for the oscillation of second-order differential equations with mixed and multiple delays under a canonical operator. Our methods could be applicable to find the sufficient and necessary conditions for any neutral differential equations. Furthermore, we proved the validity of the obtained results via particular examples. At the end of the paper, we provide the future scope of this study.

In this paper, the sharp Hille-type oscillation criteria are proposed for a class of second-order nonlinear functional dynamic equations on an arbitrary time scale, by using the technique of Riccati transformation and integral averaging method. The obtained results demonstrate an improvement in Hille-type compared with the results reported in the literature. Some examples are provided to illustrate the significance of the obtained results.

In this article, we present a stability analysis of linear time-invariant systems in control theory. The linear time-invariant systems under consideration involve the diagonal norm bounded linear differential inclusions. We propose a methodology based on low-rank ordinary differential equations. We construct an equivalent time-invariant system (linear) and use it to acquire an optimization problem whose solutions are given in terms of a system of differential equations. An iterative method is then used to solve the system of differential equations. The stability of linear time-invariant systems with diagonal norm bounded differential inclusion is studied by analyzing the Spectrum of equivalent systems.

The aim of this work is to study oscillatory behavior of solutions for even-order neutral nonlinear differential equations. By using the Riccati substitution, a new oscillation conditions is obtained which insures that all solutions to the studied equation are oscillatory. The obtained results complement the well-known oscillation results present in the literature. Some example are illustrated to show the applicability of the obtained results.

The aim of this paper is to study the oscillatory properties of 4th-order neutral differential equations. We obtain some oscillation criteria for the equation by the theory of comparison. The obtained results improve well-known oscillation results in the literate. Symmetry plays an important role in determining the right way to study these equation. Recently, non-standard Lagrangians have gained a growing importance in theoretical physics and in the theory of non-linear differential equations. However, their formulations and implications in general relativity are still in their infancies despite some advances in contemporary cosmology. The main aim of this paper is to fill the gap. Though non-standard Lagrangians may be defined by a multitude form, in this paper, we considered the exponential type. One basic feature of exponential non-standard Lagrangians concerns the modified Euler-Lagrange equation obtained from the standard variational analysis. Accordingly, when applied to spacetime geometries, one unsurprisingly expects modified geodesic equations. However, when taking into account the time-like paths parameterization constraint, remarkably, it was observed that mutually discrete gravity and discrete spacetime emerge in the theory. Two different independent cases were obtained: A geometrical manifold with new spacetime coordinates augmented by a metric signature change and a geometrical manifold characterized by a discretized spacetime metric. Both cases give raise to Einstein’s field equations yet the gravity is discretized and originated from “spacetime discreteness”. A number of mathematical and physical implications of these results were discussed though this paper and perspectives are given accordingly.

Our aim in the present paper is to employ the Riccatti transformation which differs from those reported in some literature and comparison principles with the second-order differential equations, to establish some new conditions for the oscillation of all solutions of fourth-order differential equations. Moreover, we establish some new criterion for oscillation by using an integral averages condition of Philos-type, also Hille and Nehari-type. Some examples are provided to illustrate the main results.
