The use of new reinforcing materials and products in the construction industry requires their thorough assessment for a variety of design situations. One of the significant effects is the shrinkage of the concrete, which in the case of asymmetrically reinforced elements can cause the element to be deformed. The research was focused on slabs asymmetrically reinforced by composite reinforcement (GFRP) and by three reinforcement stages. To eliminate the effect of concrete non-homogeneity, a concrete slab of the same dimensions was made of the same concrete. The results show a significant effect of shrinkage on reinforced slabs.

The subject matter of the contribution is findings obtained from a parametric simulation of ceiling panels behaviour under a change of determined parameters. The optional parameters included concrete strength, reinforcement cross-section area, and concrete covering. The experiment investigated an impact of the given parameters changes onto the element resistance which was evaluated on the basis of the ultimate state of usability, namely from the point of view of crack checking and deflection measuring. The article deals with crack formation of concrete slabs embedded along two sides, after monitoring the shrinking of concrete slabs under laboratory conditions. The paper presents result of laboratory test focused on monitoring the crack formation of concrete slabs. The concrete slabs were reinforced asymmetrically only on one side. The slabs were loaded by four-point bending. The formation and development of cracks was monitored during loading of concrete slabs. The deflections on the concrete slab were measured and the formation of cracks and the width of the cracks were monitored. The position of the cracks on the concrete slab was checked and compared with the position of the transverse reinforcement.

The shrinkage is a significant phenomenon in concrete structures. The article is aimed at monitoring the shrinking of concrete slabs under laboratory conditions. The results of laboratory research aimed at unreinforced slabs strains affected by the non-homogeneity of concrete are mentioned in the article. According to these results another research of shrinkage influence on strains and deflection of concrete slabs reinforced by steel, resp. GFRP reinforcement has been prepared. The results of this research confirm the significant effect of concrete non-homogeneity on the formation of strains and deflections due to shrinkage.

The subject matter of the article is the comparison of behaviour of the actual ceiling panels exposed to an aggressive environment and the software-modelled panels while their functioning conditions taken into account are identical. The article presents the comparison based on deflections obtained on the ceiling panels. Comparison is expressed by analysis of the panel load-deflection relation.

In the article selected results of parametric analysis of lightened reinforced concrete panels used in agricultural objects are presented. The aim of the analysis was to devise a parametric model that can be later on used for the simulation of behaviour of real ceiling panels when changing predefined parameters.
