BackgroundPatients demonstrating depressive disorder with psychotic symptoms often have increased risk of death and poor prognosis. A large amount of research has explored the factors influencing psychotic symptoms in adult patients with depressive disorder， but few has focused on adolescent patients.ObjectiveTo explore the influencing factors of psychotic symptoms in adolescent patients with depressive disorder， so as to provide references for early screening and intervention in clinic.MethodsA total of 96 adolescent patients who met the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders， fifth edition （DSM-5） for depressive disorder and were seen in the psychiatry departments of Chaohu Hospital of Anhui Medical University and The Fourth People's Hospital of Hefei from September 2022 to January 2023 were included. Another 56 healthy individuals from the health examination center of Chaohu Hospital of Anhui Medical University were concurrently recruited as control group. Patients were assigned into psychotic group （n=32） and non-psychotic group （n=64） according to the presence or absence of psychotic symptoms. Hamilton Depression Scale-24 item （HAMD-24）， Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale （PANSS）， Positive and Negative Suicide Ideation （PANSI） and Childhood Trauma Questionnaire-Short Form （CTQ-SF） were used for evaluation. Plasma brain-derived neurotrophic factor （BDNF） concentration was obtained using Meso Scale Discovery electrochemiluminescence assay. Pearson and Spearman correlation analysis were adopted to determine the correlation of PANSS positive symptom subscale score with plasma BDNF concentration and clinical characteristics of adolescent depression patients with psychotic symptoms. Binary Logistic regression analysis was used to identify the factors influencing the presence of psychotic symptoms in adolescent patients with depressive disorder， and multiple linear regression analysis was utilized to screen the factors affecting the severity of psychotic symptoms.ResultsThe plasma BDNF concentration of adolescent patients with depressive disorder was lower than that of control group （t=-3.080， P

Background: Suicidal behavior including suicidal ideation (SI) and suicide attempts (SA) is a common clinical feature of adolescent patients with major depressive disorders (MDD). We hypothesized that differences in functional connectivity density (FCD) exist between adolescent patients with SA and SI, and aimed to investigate the different suicidal behaviors in adolescents patients with MDD17. Methods: 37 MDD adolescents with SA, 34 MDD adolescents with SI, 20 MDD adolescents without SA and SI (non-suicidal group), and 20 adolescents healthy controls (HC) were enrolled in this study. All participants were scanned using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to evaluated the FCD. Between-group differences of all variables were analyzed. The relationships between FCD values and clinical scale scores were also analyzed. Results: The FCD of the left inferior occipital gyrus in the SI group was higher than those in the other groups. The FCD in the SA group was higher than that in the control group. The FCD of the right dorsolateral superior frontal gyrus in the SI group was lower than that in the other three groups. The FCD values of the left precentral gyrus in the SI group were higher than those in the other three groups. The left inferior occipital gyrus FCD positively correlated with the suicide factor score of Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD), and the right dorsolateral superior frontal gyrus negatively correlated with the HAMD suicide factor score but not with the HAMD total score. Background: Mental health symptoms such as anxiety, depression, stress, and burnout are common among healthcare workers. However, the interconnections among them remain under-explored. This study aimed to address the interrelationships among these symptoms in psychiatric nurses. Methods: We conducted a nationwide survey in the early stage of the COVID-19 pandemic (January to March 2021) to investigate the interconnectedness of depression, anxiety, stress, and burnout among psychiatric nurses. Using network analysis, we identified central symptoms, important bridge symptoms, and the correlations among these central symptoms. Results: Of the 9,224 psychiatric nurses (79.2% female) included in the statistical analyses, 27.6% reported clinically significant depression, 31.2% anxiety, 14.5% stress, and 23.8% burnout. Network analysis revealed that stress had the highest expected influence (EI) value (0.920) and the highest strength among all nodes. The node for depression scored the highest in both closeness and betweenness. Emotional exhaustion (EE) had the highest bridge expected influence (BEI) of 0.340, with the strongest intergroup association between EE and depression. No significant differences were found in gender or frontline work experience (all p > 0.05). Conclusions: Burnout, depression, anxiety, and stress are relatively common among psychiatric nurses in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. While anxiety was the most prevalent, stress emerged as the core symptom, and depression as an important bridging node. Interventions targeting the core symptoms and bridging nodes may improve the mental health of psychiatric nurses. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ObjectiveTo analyze the coping style and its relationship with anxiety status among middle school students aged 13 to 18 in Anhui province during the COVID-19 epidemic.MethodsFrom February 13 to 19， 2020， a cross-sectional survey was conducted among middle school students in Anhui province by using convenience sampling method and network questionnaire. The assessment tools included the Coping Style Scale for Middle School Students （CSSMSS） and the Screen for Child Anxiety Related Emotional Disorders （SCARED）.ResultsThe results of the CSSMSS evaluation showed that female students scored higher in emotion abreaction than male students ［（8.27±2.98） vs. （7.84±2.91）］. The scores of tolerance ［（9.74±2.73） vs. （9.11±2.60）］， escape ［（7.82±2.79） vs. （7.26±2.44）］， emotion abreaction ［（8.48±2.97） vs. （7.91±2.93）］ and fantasy/denial ［（9.79±3.56） vs. （9.26±3.47）］ of senior high school students were higher than those of junior high school students， and the score of problem solving ［（19.38±4.07） vs. （20.33±4.54）］ was lower than that of junior high school students， with statistical significance （P

Objective: Somatization symptoms are commonly comorbid with depression. Furthermore, people with depression and somatization have a negative memory bias. We investigated the differences in emotional memory among adolescent patients with depressive disorders, with and without functional somatization symptoms (FSS).Methods: We recruited 30 adolescents with depression and FSS, 38 adolescents with depression but without FSS, and 38 healthy participants. Emotional memory tasks were conducted to evaluate the emotional memory of the participants in the three groups. The clinical symptoms were evaluated using the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HDRS) and the Children's Somatization Inventory (CSI).Results: The valence ratings and recognition accuracy rates for positive and neutral images of adolescent patients were significantly lower than those of the control group (F = 12.208, P < 0.001; F = 6.801, P < 0.05; F = 14.536, P < 0.001; F = 6.306, P < 0.05, respectively); however, the recognition accuracy rate for negative images of adolescent patients of depression without FSS was significantly lower than that of patients with FSS and control group participants (F = 10.316, P < 0.001). These differences persisted after controlling for HDRS scores. The within-group analysis revealed that patients of depression with FSS showed significantly higher recognition accuracy rates for negative images than the other types (F = 5.446, P < 0.05). The recognition accuracy rate for negative images was positively correlated with CSI scores (r = 0.352, P < 0.05).Conclusion: Therefore, emotional memory impairment exists in adolescent patients of depression and FSS are associated with negative emotional memory retention.
