The recent trends in electrical power distribution system operation and management are aimed at improving system conditions in order to render good service to the customer. The reforms in distribution sector have given major scope for employment of distributed generation (DG) resources which will boost the system performance. This paper proposes a heuristic technique for allocation of distribution generation source in a distribution system. The allocation is determined based on overall improvement in network performance parameters like reduction in system losses, improvement in voltage stability, improvement in voltage profile. The proposed Network Performance Enhancement Index (NPEI) along with the heuristic rules facilitate determination of feasible location and corresponding capacity of DG source. A Priority list is prepared with decreasing values of NPEI so that the designer can select most feasible location. The developed approach is tested with different test systems to ascertain its effectiveness.

Prolonged crop duration (150-210 days) and tall plant height (>100 cm) of castor either hinders its adaptability to newer and niche areas or fitting into the cropping sequence of conventional castor growing areas. The present study aims at evaluating male lines for their agro-morphological characters, combining ability for seed yield, yield components and resistance to Fusarium wilt. Node number to primary, first and second order of secondary (P, S1 and S2) racemes were taken as indicators of flowering and maturity duration of male lines while data on plant height up to primary spike was recorded for plant stature. Twenty-six improved monoecious lines were evaluated for their agro-morphological characters in an ARBD design along with three checks replicated five times during 2017-18 kharif season. Simultaneously all the 26 lines were screened for wilt resistance in wilt sick plot in two replications. Nineteen monoecious lines were resistant to wilt (0-20% wilt incidence) while four lines were moderately resistant to wilt (20-30%). Four lines viz., ICS-121, ICS-150, ICS-127 and ICS-139 were promising with significantly low node number to P, S1 and S2 order of racemes compared to early maturing check, DCS-9 (12.1, 5.8, 4.9). Eight male lines were significantly shorter than the very tall type checks, 48-1 and DCS-107 (>85 cm) while ICS-121 (57.5 cm) was on par with the medium statured check, DCS-9 (59.7 cm). Fifteen hybrids, generated by crossing three pistillate lines and five selected wilt resistant male lines in a line x tester design were evaluated along with eight parents and two hybrid checks during 2019-20 kharif season. SKP-84 (pistillate line) and ICS-139 (male line) were identified as good combiners for seed yield and majority of the yield components.

Alzheimer’s disease (AD), an ongoing neurodegenerative disorder among the elderly, is signalized by amnesia, progressive deficiency in cognitive roles, and behavioral deformity. Over the last ten years, its pathogenesis still remains unclear despite several efforts from various researchers across the globe. There are certain factors that seem to be involved in the progression of the disease such as the accumulation of β-amyloid, oxidative stress, the hyperphosphorylation of tau protein, and a deficit of acetylcholine (ACh). Ongoing therapeutics are mainly based on the cholinergic hypothesis, which suggests that the decrease in the ACh levels leads to the loss of memory. Therefore, increasing the cholinergic function seems to be beneficial. Acetylcholinesterase inhibitors (AChEIs) inhibit the enzyme by avoiding the cleavage of acetylcholine (ACh) and increasing the neurotransmitter acetylcholine (ACh) levels in the brain areas. Thus, the cholinergic deficit is the root cause of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Currently, drugs such as tacrine, donepezil, rivastigmine, and galantamine have been launched on the market for a cholinergic approach to AD to increase neurotransmission at cholinergic synapses in the brain and to improve cognition. These commercialized medicines only provide supportive care, and there is a loss of medicinal strength over time. Therefore, there is a demand for investigating a novel molecule that overcomes the drawbacks of commercially available drugs. Therefore, butyrylcholinesterase (BChE), amyloid-β (Aβ), β-secretase-1 (BACE), metals Cu(II), Zn(II), or Fe(II), antioxidant properties, and the free radical scavenging capacity have been primarily targeted in the preceding five years along with targeting the AChE enzyme. A desired, well-established pharmacological profile with a number of hybrid molecules incorporating substructures within a single scaffold has been investigated. From distinct chemical categories such as acridine, quinoline, carbamate, huperzine, and other heterocyclic analogs, the main substructures used in developing these molecules are derived. The optimization of activity through structural modifications of the prototype molecules has been followed to develop the Structure Activity Relationship (SAR), which in turn facilitates the development of novel molecules with expected AChE inhibitory activity together with many more pharmacological properties. The present review outlines the current drug candidates in the advancement of these AChEIs in the last two years.

Huge head and neck tumors are known to cause difficult ventilation and difficult intubation. Edentulous mouth can result in difficult mask ventilation. Head and neck tumor resections can also present hemodynamic challenge, due to their proximity to large vessels. We herein report a clinical case of difficult ventilation due to large parotid tumor in an edentulous patient.

A series of (E)-1-methyl-3-((substituted phenylimino)methyl)quinolin-2(1H)-one schiff bases (3a-j) bearing quinoline moiety synthesized successfully in ethanol by condensation of starting material 1-methyl-2-oxo-1,2-dihydroquinoline-3-carbaldehyde (1) with various substituted anilines (2a-j). The structure of the newly synthesized compounds was confirmed by proton (1H) and carbon (13C) nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, Fourier transformation infrared (FT-IR), Mass spectroscopic study and elemental analysis. The in-vitro antimicrobial activity of the synthesized compounds was undertaken by agar well diffusion method against gram positive bacteria (Bacillus licheniformis and Bacillus cereus) gram negative bacteria (Escherichia coli and Acetobactor sp.) and antifungal activity against (Aspergillus Flavus and Pichnanomala). Further the compounds which shows good activity (3b, 3c, 3d, 3f, 3g and 3j) are screened for in-vitro antitubercular activity by Micro-plate alamar blue assay (MABA) method against mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv strain provided important information about activity against these strains. The structure activities of the synthesized compounds were also discussed. Compounds 3a, 3c, 3d, 3f and 3g show good argument with the different substituent attached to the phenyl ring.

A network of linked devices that can gather, process, and exchange data is known as the Internet of Things (IoT). It delivers several benefits such as convenience, efficiency and automation. However, IoT also poses significant security concerns that necessity to be describe like the heterogeneity and diversity of IoT devices with different hardware, software and communication protocols. Now a days the large scale and complexity of IoT systems, which may involve multiple stakeholders, domains and layers. The limited resources and capabilities of IoT devices, which may affect their ability to perform security functions such as encryption, authentication and update. The vital and evolving features of IoT environments, which may introduce new threats and vulnerabilities over time. These challenges require novel and holistic approaches to ensure that privacy and security of IoT systems and its users. With the develop of security standards and best practices for IoT devices and systems it should include Implementation of security by design and security by default principles for IoT development and deployment by adopting risk-based and adaptive security mechanisms for IoT management, operation and enhanced security awareness and education among IoT users and stakeholders.

Metal-doped cerium oxide has gained the attention of worldwide researchers due to its facile features and enormous applications in broad fields. Herein, Zn doped cerium oxide nanoparticles of various molar concentrations from 1 to 11 mol% are synthesized by versatile solution combustion synthesis using Tulsi leaf extract as a reducing agent. The nanoparticles as obtained are characterized using powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), EDAX, ultraviolet-visible (UV-VIS), and Fourier transformation infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) to confirm the successful synthesis. From PXRD and Rietveld Refinement using Fullprof software, the cubic fluorite structure of NPs is verified. Also, structural parameters such as dislocation density and strain were determined. Surface morphology confirms the presence of doped NPs. The direct transition of the band gap from 3 eV to 2.83 eV with an increase in zinc doping concentration is obtained by UV-VIS spectroscopy. FTIR analysis shows the chemical bonds present in the NPs. The as-obtained NPs are subjected to the study of photoluminescence (PL) properties and electrochemical analysis. The procured NPs manifest excellent photoluminescence emission peaks that show their potential in display applications. Further, the highest specific capacitance is achieved for 11 mol% concentration at a lower scan rate. CV, GCD, and EIS analysis suggest that zinc-doped Cerium oxide NPs can be utilized for supercapacitor applications.

Context: The globalization in the process most of the rural sectors are also upgrading technically with digitalization with more availability of smart phones and gaming along with the refined food influences on the present-day children is causing a trend of overweight among the children. Aims: To arrive at the prevalence of overweight and obesity considering the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) cut-offs for growth standards among children aged 12 years from the rural and urban areas of Mysuru District. Methods and Material: The present program was the third large scale community intervention project carried out including the 7 talukas of Mysuru District which focused on the measurement of the Body mass index (BMI). In this phase between the year 2019 and 2020 anthropometric measurements were undertaken in 1602 urban and rural children aged 12 years from government-funded and privately-funded schools of Mysuru District. Statistical Analysis Used: The results were analysed statistically using SPSS for Windows (version 23.0) and the t-test, Chi-square test and proportion tests, P value were reported. Results: As per the IAP reference ranges the prevalence of obesity was 5.5% and overweight was 7.1% among children of Mysuru District. Conclusions: We report that this increase was significantly higher in girls than boys. There was an increasing trend in rural sectors; however, the obese children were more predominantly distributed among the urban sectors. This calls for a precise preventive measure to fulfil the goal of the World Health Organization (WHO) to control prevalence of childhood obesity by the year 2022.

Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is caused by SARS-CoV-2 virus has increased the morbidity and mortality across the world. The most common symptoms are fever, dry cough, tiredness, and the least common symptoms are aches and pains, sore throat, diarrhoea, conjunctivitis, headache and loss of taste or smell. In this current pandemic, the number of COVID-19 survivors being discharged from the hospital is increasing day by day and the long-term effect among the survivors is also increasing. Fatigue and dyspnea were the most reported Post COVID symptoms. The presence of these symptoms is also known as “Long COVID”. COVID-19 disease has not only affected the physical health but also the mental health of the patients which also had led to decrease in their quality of life. Material and Methods: A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted among 35 patients who were admitted in District hospital in Mysuru during the month of October 2020. Purposive Sampling was adopted for selecting the patients. Data was collected through telephone after their discharge. Data were entered in Microsoft Excel sheet and analysed using SPSS trial version 23. Descriptive statistics such as percentages and proportions were calculated. To see the association between the variables, Chi-square test, Fischer's exact test was used. P < 0.05 was taken as statistically significant. Results: The mean age of the study participants was 49.1 years. Majority of them had fever (68.6%) followed by Myalgia (65.7%), cough (60%), fatigue (42.9%), headache (37.1%) Majority of the patients had no symptoms after discharge (65.7%). After being discharged from the hospital, 22.9% of patients had difficulty in sleeping, 17.1% had loss of taste/smell and fatigue, 8.6% of them had breathlessness and 5.7% of the patients had a change in voice and loss of appetite. Conclusion: With the increasing number of cases across the world, we will most likely face an ongoing wave of COVID-19 sequelae. To Prevent this, an extensive rehabilitation program is necessary for patients during hospitalization and after discharge.

Abstract Degenerative disc disease (DDD) is the leading cause of excruciating lower back pain and disability in adults worldwide. Among the current treatments for DDD, cell-based therapies such as the injection of both disc- and non-disc-derived chondrocytes have shown significant improvements in the patients’ condition. However, further advancement of these therapies is required to not only ensure a supply of healthy chondrocytes but also to promote regeneration of the defective cells in the injury site. Here, we report that the incorporation of gelatin microparticles coloaded with transforming growth factor beta 3 and matrilin 3 promoted chondrogenic differentiation of adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cell spheroids while preventing hypertrophy and terminal differentiation of cells. Moreover, these composite spheroids induced the release of chondrogenic cytokines that, in turn, promoted regeneration of degenerative chondrocytes in vitro. Finally, injections of these composite spheroids in a rat model of intervertebral disc disease promoted restoration of the chondrogenic properties of the cells, thereby allowing regeneration of the chondrogenic tissue in vivo.

A split plot experiment was conducted at research farm of Agronomy Section, ICAR–National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal, Haryana during kharif 2018–19 to evaluate various jeevamrutha formulations under the varying nutrient levels in fodder maize (Zea mays L.). In main plot four nutrient levels [Control (0), 50, 75 and 100% RDF] and in sub-plot, five jeevamrutha formulations [Control (without jeevamrutha), water based jeevamrutha @1000 l/ha, water based jeevamrutha @1500 l/ha, whey based jeevamrutha @1000 l/ha and whey based jeevamrutha @1500 l/ha] were taken as treatments and replicated thrice. Better growth attributes, viz. plant height, number of leaves per plant, stem girth and leaf:stem ratio were observed with increased nutrient levels. Application of 50, 75 and 100% RDF resulted in 35.01, 61.21 and 74.19% higher green fodder yield (GFY) over control. Jeevamrutha (whey/water based) formulations significantly improved growth. Significantly higher dry matter yield (DMY) (11.65 t/ha) was obtained with 100% RDF. Whey based jeevamrutha formulation @1500 l/ha ((52.83 and 11.09 t/ha) closely followed by water based jeevamrutha formulation @1500 l/ha (51.38 and 10.79 t/ha) resulted in higher GFY and DMY, respectively. The highest gross returns and net returns were obtained in 100% RDF with whey based jeevamrutha @1500 l/ha (`94.89 and 70.32 × 103/ha, respectively). Maximum benefit:cost ratio (2.89) was recorded in 100% RDF and water based jeevamrutha formulation @1500 l/ha. Interaction effect between jeevamrutha formulation and nutrient levels suggested that application of jeevamrutha formulation @1500 l/ha in both forms (Whey and water) can save 25% nutrient dose.
