Some concepts and technology trends such as digital identity, large sets of data (big data) open data and data visualization that can be applied to document repositories are briefly described. In this article it is presented SocialNet repository model as an example of innovative project designed in line with such trends.

Perdido en La Mancha (Lost in La Mancha) consists on the creation of an immersive online educational game (serious game) focused on learning of Spanish aimed at English speakers. In the immersive environment, the player, named “Collin”, must acquire the necessary knowledge of Spanish to survive in a remote village in La Mancha, hence this name: “Lost in La Mancha”. The project baseline is an online Spanish course based on a 3D immersive game, accessible via Web and mobile devices like Smartphones, PDA, iPods, Tablet Pc, etc. The content of the course is based on the Instituto Cervantes curriculum plan for the A1 Level (equivalent to the international certification E/LE).

A brief tour is realized on the initiatives that on electronic administration have carried out in Catalonia to be able to think about the current situation of the administrations. The Subdirecció General of Biblioteques take part as trial in the project of change toward a new culture of management and production of contents that the Culture and Mass Media Department of Generalitat de Catalunya is carrying out under the technological platform of Vignette Corporate, what supposes a great opportunity to present through the Libraries Portal an accurate offering of services, resources and information literacy for citizens and also, from the Extranet, looked at librarians of the public libraries, a good collaborative work environment for professionals. We describe the creation of this portal hold up under the development of two parallel projects, analyzing the impact on recipients, from the existing relationship between its expectations and the offered answer with regard to the formulation of the project.

Opac has been in the eye of the hurricane for a number of years, evolving to provide management programs with more functionality in terms of accessibility, understood as the capacity to recover information. It is logical to imagine that this has been for the user’s benefit, but a thorough analysis reveals that the Opacs have deficiencies in that arena. They must be truly open to the user, as the backbone of information access, bibliographically or otherwise, so the user participates in his or her own growth and enrichment. Some of the weaknesses in the great majority of current catalogues are discussed, offering some paths toward the intersection between technological innovations that could be introduced and the social participation that could occur under the umbrella of the currently popular Web 2.0.

We examine the process of development of a training methodology based on 2.0 philosophy within the context of the Masters course Contents and Legal Aspects of the Information Society (Continguts i Aspectes Legals en la Societat de la Informació, CALSI). This methodology is based on an intensive use of the new technologies and on promoting student participation in course development and even in generating learning topics and contents. We discuss good practices, lessons learnt, and future trends.

Before the great avalanche of contents that offer to the user in the Web sites to him, it is necessary to guard more and more by the binomial immediacy-utility to be able to be more effective and to cause in a that one double satisfaction, the practice by the easy attainment of his objectives and the emotional one, being been this totally subjective since intimately is bound with the perception during the process of interaction with the Web site. To construct and to design a Web site are a task that it requires of a series of specific cares, at formal, organizational, visual level, of contents, etc., and for it it is necessary to observe a series of focused basic norms the successful attainment of he himself. In this article we approached those "cares" in form of guidelines or criteria that we do not have to let of side to offer surroundings easy to use, practitioners and, mainly, thought to fulfill the necessities and expectations of the users.

La Subdirección General de Bibliotecas participa como piloto en el proyecto de cambio hacia la nueva cultura de gestión y producción de contenidos que el Departamento de Cultura y Medios de Comunicación de la Generalitat de Catalunya está llevando a cabo bajo la plataforma tecnológica de Vignette Corporate, lo que supone una gran oportunidad para plantear a través del Portal de Biblioteques una correcta oferta de servicios, recursos y alfabetización informacional para los ciudadanos y también, desde la Extranet, dirigida a los técnicos de las bibliotecas públicas, un buen entorno de trabajo colaborativo para los profesionales. Describimos la creación de este portal vertebrado sobre dos proyectos paralelos, analizando el impacto en los destinatarios, a partir del binomio existente entre sus expectativas y la respuesta ofrecida en base a la formulación de dicho proyecto.

Es fa un breu recorregut per les iniciatives que en matèria d'administració electrònica s'han dut a terme a Catalunya per poder reflexionar sobre la situació actual de les administracions. S'evidencia la manca de cooperació interadministrativa que encara hi ha, tot i els avenços en la posada en marxa de serveis electrònics públics i en el grau de sofisticació que aquests estan introduint. Amb l'entrada en vigor de la Llei d'accés electrònic dels ciutadans als Serveis Públics es marca un fet diferencial en reconèixer el dret de la ciutadania a l'accés electrònic als serveis públics, i l'obligació de les administracions d'oferir tots els seus serveis electrònicament a finals de l'any 2009. Con la entrada en vigor de la Ley de acceso electrónico de los ciudadanos a los Servicios Públicos se marca un hecho diferencial al reconocerse el derecho de la ciudadanía al acceso electrónico a los servicios públicos, y la obligación por parte de las administraciones de ofrecer todos los servicios electrónicamente a fina-les del año 2009. Este impulso necesario promueve la idea de pensar en el ciudadano y en sus intereses, al mismo tiempo que, con este cambio de visión, se da el sustrato ideal para avanzar hacia una administración 2.0, más dinámica (agilidad), colaborativa (interoperabilidad) y participativa (social).

The Open University of Catalonia (UOC) has conducted a study of operability of its user interfaces, creating for this purpose different work groups that have analyzed different casuistries. One of these groups focused on the study and analysis of the usability of the Virtual Library's website, with the objective of obtaining benefits for our users. As a result of this analysis, an important qualitative jump is occurring in the new implementation of the website of the UOC's Virtual Library, prioritizing the role of users from different points of view: ease of navigation, management of profiles and the services associated to these and the restructuring of the information architecture, with the final aim of facilitating access to the resources and the services offered from the Library, advocating in this way for their quality and improvement. La Universitat Oberta de Catalunya ha realizado un estudio de operatividad de sus interfaces de usuario creando para ello diferentes grupos de trabajo que han analizado las diferentes casuísticas. Uno de dichos grupos se centró en el estudio y análisis de la usabilidad del sitio web de la Biblioteca Virtual, teniendo como objetivo el obtener una serie de beneficios para nuestros usuarios. Fruto de este análisis, se está produciendo un salto cualitativo importante en la nueva implementación del sitio web de la Biblioteca Virtual de la UOC, priorizándose el papel del usuario desde diferentes puntos de vista: la facilidad de navegación, la gestión de perfiles y servicios asociados a éstos y la reestructuración de la arquitectura de la información, todo ello con el objetivo final de facilitar el acceso a los recursos y servicios ofrecidos desde la Biblioteca, abogando en este mismo sentido por la calidad y mejora de éstos. La Universitat Oberta de Catalunya ha realitzat un estudi d'operativitat de les seves interfícies d'usuari creant per a això diferents grups de treball que han analitzat les diferents casuístiques. Un dels esmentats grups es va centrar en l'estudi i anàlisi de la usabilitat del lloc web de la Biblioteca Virtual, tenint com a objectiu l'obtenir una sèrie de beneficis per als nostres usuaris. Fruit d'aquesta anàlisi, s'està produint un salt qualitatiu important en la nova implementació del lloc web de la Biblioteca Virtual de l'UOC, tot prioritzant-se el paper de l'usuari des de diferents punts de vista: la facilitat de navegació, la gestió de perfils i serveis associats a aquests i la reestructuració de l'arquitectura de la informació, tot això amb l'objectiu final de facilitar l'accés als recursos i serveis oferts des de la Biblioteca, advocant en aquest mateix sentit per la qualitat i millora d'aquests.

El DinaWEB (Dinàmic WEB), és una base de dades desenvolupada per la Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, que té com a objectiu organitzar la informació i els recursos disponibles a la Biblioteca Virtual de la UOC de forma àgil per els usuaris i que permet a l'administrador l'actualització i modificació d'aquests recursos de forma més amigable que fins l'actualitat. La seva funció és substituir les pàgines estàtiques de la intranet de la Biblioteca Virtual de la UOC, per pàgines dinàmiques, generades automàticament per aquesta base de dades. El DinaWEB (Dynamic WEB), es una base de datos desarrollada por la Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, que tiene como objetivo organizar la información y los recursos disponibles en la Biblioteca Virtual de la UOC de forma ágil por los usuarios y que permite al administrador la actualización y modificación de estos recursos de forma más amigable que hasta la actualidad. Su función es sustituir las páginas estáticas de la intranet de la Biblioteca Virtual de la UOC, por páginas dinámicas, generadas automáticamente por esta base de datos. SAVIA (Servei d'AVIsos Adhoc) és un sistema compost per una sèrie de programes en PERL desenvolupats per la Biblioteca de la UOC que gestionen la tramesa per correu electrònic dels avisos de retorn de préstec dels documents de la Biblioteca, mitjançant els programes de l'aplicatiu VTLS destinats a la creació de les notificacions impreses. Aquests programes flexibilitzen la comunicació entre la Biblioteca i els usuaris donat que permeten el tractament individualitzat de les trameses per tipologies d'usuari i la incorporació d'addendes temporals als missatges, definides i controlades per la persona propietària del procés del préstec. SAVIA (Servicio de AVIsos Adhoc) es un sistema compuesto por una serie de programas en PERL desarrollados por la Biblioteca de la UOC que gestionan el envío por correo electrónico de los avisos de retorno de préstamo de los documentos de la Biblioteca, mediante los programas de la aplicación VTLS destinados a la creación de las notificaciones impresas. Estos programas flexibilizan la comunicación entre la Biblioteca y los usuarios dado que permiten el tratamiento individualizado de los envíos por tipologías de usuario y la incorporación de adendas temporales a los mensajes, definidas y controladas por la persona propietaria del proceso del préstamo. SAVIA (Ad hoc Notification Service) is a system made up of a series of programs in PERL developed by the UOC Library to manage the sending of e-mail notifications for return of documents on loan from the Library, by means of VTLS applications intended for creation of printed notifications. These programs make the communication between the Library and users more flexible given that they allow individualized treatment of mailings by typology of user and the incorporation of temporary addendums to messages, defined and controlled by the owner of the loan process.

El préstec de documents és un dels pilars fonamentals de la biblioteca per donar suport a l'estudi, docència i recerca. A la Biblioteca de la Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, la diferència principal respecte a altres biblioteques universitàries, és el nou concepte virtual sense parets, i aquest concepte s'estén també a aquest servei de préstec. Els usuaris no han d'accedir necessàriament a un espai físic per consultar les fonts d'informació disponibles, ni per endur-se documents en préstec. Des de casa, i de manera remota, poden demanar els documents en els que estiguin interessats, des del mateix catàleg i sense cap tipus d'intermediari gràcies al desenvolupament d'un nou servei de préstec de documents, que genera alhora un nou model dins d'un campus virtual. El préstamo de documentos es uno de los pilares fundamentales de la biblioteca para apoyar al estudio, docencia y búsqueda. A la Biblioteca de la Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, la diferencia principal respecto a otras bibliotecas universitarias, es el nuevo concepto virtual sin paredes, y este concepto se extiende también a este servicio de préstamo. Los usuarios no tienen que acceder necesariamente a un espacio físico para consultar las fuentes de información disponibles, ni para llevarse documentos en préstamo. Desde casa, y de manera remota, pueden pedir los documentos en los que estén interesados, desde el mismo catálogo y sin ningún tipo de intermediario gracias al desarrollo de un nuevo servicio de préstamo de documentos, que genera a la vez un nuevo modelo dentro de un campus virtual. Loan service is one of the basic pillars of libraries for support of study, teaching and research. In the Library of the Open University of Catalonia (UOC), the main difference with respect to other academic libraries is the new virtual concept without walls, and this concept also extends to its loan service. Users do not necessarily have to access a physical place to consult available information resources or to borrow documents. From their home, and in a remote way, users can demand the documents they are interested in, from the library catalogue and with no type of intermediary thanks to development of a new document loan service, which at the same time generates a new model within a virtual campus.

En aquest treball es fa una aproximació al tractament dels documents electrònics (sobretot recursos d'Internet) en el context de la biblioteca d'una universitat a distància. També es relata l'experiència de la Biblioteca de la Universitat Oberta de Catalunya en el procés de creació de pàgines electròniques de sumaris de revistes i monografies que formen part de la col·lecció de la biblioteca. Tots aquests serveis de valor afegit estan directament orientats vers uns usuaris que es posen en contacte amb la biblioteca des del Campus Virtual de la UOC. En este trabajo se hace una aproximación al tratamiento de los documentos electrónicos (sobre todo recursos de Internet) en el contexto de la biblioteca de una universidad a distancia. También se relata la experiencia de la Biblioteca de la Universitat Oberta de Catalunya en el proceso de creación de páginas electrónicas de sumarios de revistas y monografías que forman parte de la colección de la biblioteca. Todos estos servicios de valor añadido están directamente orientados hacia unos usuarios que se ponen en contacto con la biblioteca desde el Campus Virtual de la UOC. In this paper an approach to the treatment of electronic documents (especially resources on internet) is developed in the context of the library of an online open university. The experience of the Library of the Open University of Catalonia (UOC) in the process of creation of electronic summaries of journals and monographs that are part of the library collection is also reported. All these value-added services are directly oriented to users who contact the library from the Virtual Campus of the UOC.

En el contexto actual del sector del gaming, se da un crecimiento de los lanzadores de los videojuegos, existiendo tanto lanzadores que recogen videojuegos de otras empresas como lanzadores creados por la propia empresa desarrolladora del videojuego. Estos lanzadores funcionan actualmente a través de Internet, y cada vez permiten más funcionalidades añadidas. Entre estas utilidades se incluyen aspectos sociales. Aunque estas nuevas funcionalidades pueden resultar útiles para la jugabilidad, tienen como inconveniente que, debido a que cada empresa dispone de su propio lanzador, el usuario acaba necesitando una nueva alternativa dónde reunir a todos sus contactos de las diferentes plataformas. El objetivo de Dropme es servir como medio para unificar este ecosistema social a través de una app para smartphone. Para ello, se define un proyecto centrado en el usuario dividido en cuatro fases. Estas nos permitan conocer el contexto y las necesidades del usuario, definir nuestra app y testarla con usuarios a través del prototipado. Así llegamos al resultado final, una aplicación que permite al usuario reunir a sus contactos, conocer a nuevas personas, chatear o compartir toda la información relacionada con los videojuegos. In the current context of the gaming sector, there is a growth in video game launchers, with both launchers that collect video games from other companies and launchers created by the video game developer itself. These launchers currently work over the Internet, and increasingly allow more added functionality. These benefits include social aspects. Although these new functionalities can be useful for the gameplay, they have the disadvantage that, because each company has its own launcher, the user ends up needing a new alternative where to gather all their contacts from the different platforms. The objective of Dropme is to serve as a means to unify this social ecosystem through a smartphone app. For this, a user-centered project is defined divided into four phases. These allow us to know the context and the user's needs, define our app and test it with users through prototyping. Thus we arrive to the final result, an application that allows the user to gather their contacts, meet new people, chat or share all the information related to video games. En el context actual del sector del gaming, es dóna un creixement dels llançadors dels videojocs, existint tant llançadors que recullen videojocs d'altres empreses com a llançadors creats per la pròpia empresa desenvolupadora del videojoc. Aquests llançadors funcionen actualment a través d'Internet, i cada vegada permeten més funcionalitats afegides. Entre aquestes utilitats s'inclouen aspectes socials. Encara que aquestes noves funcionalitats poden resultar útils per a la jugabilitat, tenen com a inconvenient que, pel fet que cada empresa disposa del seu propi llançador, l'usuari acaba necessitant una nova alternativa on reunir a tots els seus contactes de les diferents plataformes. L'objectiu de Dropme és servir com a mitjà per a unificar aquest ecosistema social a través d'una app per a telèfon intel·ligent. Per a això, es defineix un projecte centrat en l'usuari dividit en quatre fases. Aquestes ens permetin conèixer el context i les necessitats de l'usuari, definir la nostra app i testar-la amb usuaris a través del prototipado. Així arribem al resultat final, una aplicació que permet a l'usuari reunir els seus contactes, conèixer a noves persones, xatejar o compartir tota la informació relacionada amb els videojocs.

La Realidad Aumentada es una tecnología cada vez más presente en el día a día de las personas. De hecho, es cada vez más accesible a través de un Smartphone o de una Tablet. Por lo que, no es necesario dispositivos extra para disfrutar de sus ventajas. Es por ello, que esta tecnología genera cada vez más retorno económico a las empresas que la incorporan en sus procesos. Debido a la caída de ventas en el sector de la distribución alimentaria en España, motivado principalmente por la compra online, es necesario rediseñar el proceso de compra presencial. Para ello, es fundamental incorporar nuevas tecnologías como la Realidad Aumenta, que promuevan la innovación en los procesos de compra y que provoquen la atracción de nuevos usuarios a los supermercados y tiendas. Con el objetivo de rediseñar los procesos de compra y aportar innovación al sector de la distribución alimentaría, se ha desarrollado un proceso de Diseño Centrado en el Usuario (DCU). Este proceso ha posibilitado la recopilación de las diferentes necesidades, problemas y demandas de los usuarios, en referencia al proceso de compra presencial. El resultado de todo este proceso de DCU ha dado como resultado el diseño de un prototipo funcional denominado TiendeAR, un asistente de compra de Realidad Aumentada para entornos presenciales y accesible a través de un Smartphone. Augmented Reality is a technology that is increasingly present in people's daily lives. In fact, it is increasingly accessible through a Smartphone or a Tablet. Therefore, no extra devices are needed to enjoy its advantages. That is why this technology generates more and more economic return to companies that incorporate it in their processes. Due to the drop in sales in the food distribution sector in Spain, mainly due to online shopping, it is necessary to redesign the face-to-face purchasing process. To this end, it is essential to incorporate new technologies such as Augmented Reality, which promote innovation in the purchasing process and attract new users to supermarkets and stores. With the aim of redesigning shopping processes and bringing innovation to the food distribution sector, a User-Centered Design (UCD) process has been developed. This process has made it possible to gather the different needs, problems and demands of the users, in reference to the face-to-face purchasing process. The result of this UCD process has resulted in the design of a functional prototype called TiendeAR, an Augmented Reality shopping assistant for face-to-face environments and accessible through a Smartphone. La Realitat Augmentada és una tecnologia cada vegada més present en el dia a dia de les persones. De fet, és cada vegada més accessible a través d'un Smartphone o d'una Tablet. Pel que, no cal dispositius extra per gaudir dels seus avantatges. És per això, que aquesta tecnologia genera cada vegada més retorn econòmic a les empreses que la incorporen en els seus processos. A causa de la caiguda de vendes en el sector de la distribució alimentària a Espanya, motivat principalment per la compra en línia, cal redissenyar el procés de compra presencial. Per a això, és fonamental incorporar noves tecnologies com la Realitat Augmenta, que promoguin la innovació en els processos de compra i que provoquin l'atracció de nous usuaris als supermercats i botigues. Amb l'objectiu de redissenyar els processos de compra i aportar innovació a el sector de la distribució alimentària, s'ha desenvolupat un procés de Disseny Centrat en l'Usuari (DCU). Aquest procés ha possibilitat la recopilació de les diferents necessitats, problemes i demandes dels usuaris, en referència a el procés de compra presencial. El resultat de tot aquest procés de DCU ha donat com a resultat el disseny d'un prototip funcional denominat TiendeAR, un assistent de compra de Realitat Augmentada per a entorns presencials i accessible a través d'un Smartphone.

The Green IDI (Green Open Innovation) project is funded under the program INNPACTO by the Ministry of Science and Innovation of Spain and is being developed through a consortium formed by the following institutions: GRUPO ICA; COMPARTIA; GRUPO INTERCOM; CETAQUA and the Instituto de Investigación en Inteligencia Artificial (IIIA) from Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC). Also the consortium include FUNDACIÓ PRIVADA BARCELONA DIGITAL; PIMEC and UNIVERSITAT OBERTA DE CATALUNYA (UOC). Sustainability and positive action for the environment are considered the principle vector of economic development for companies. As Nicolás Scoli says (2007) in short, preventing unnecessary consumption and the efficient consumption of resources means producing greater wealth with less. Both effects lead to reduced pollution linked to production and consumption'. The Spanish Sustainable Development Strategy (EEDS) plan defends consumption and sustainable production linked to social and economic development by adhering to the commitment not to endanger ecosystems and abolishing the idea that economic growth is directly proportional to the deterioration of the environment. Uniting the Open Innovation and New Green Economy concepts leads to the "Green Open Innovation¿ Platform creation project. This article analyses the concept of open innovation and defines the importance of the new green and sustainable economy. Lastly, it proposes the creation of eLab. The eLab is defined as an Open Green Innovation Platform personal and collaborative education space which is fed by the interactions of users and which enables innovation processes based on new green economy concepts to be carried out. The creation of a personal learning environment such as eLab on the Green Open Innovation Platform meets the need to offer a collaborative space where platform users can improve their skills regarding the environment and sustainability based on collaborative synergies through Information and Communication Technologies. Si a este cambio le añadimos la necesidad de realizar innovación en el ámbito de la nueva economía verde y de la sostenibilidad, y pretendemos crear una plataforma colaborativa con un espacio de aprendizaje donde realizarlo, estamos delante de un reto de grandes magnitudes que requiere la aplicación de tecnologías y lenguajes de programación inteligentes al servicio de la formación. L'objectiu fonamental d'aquest document és identificar i explicitar les línies de treball que han de dirigir i impulsar l'evolució del model educatiu de la UOC. Aquest model era adequat per al moment en el qual va ser dissenyat. L'evolució del sistema universitari i el desenvolupament tecnològic dels darrers anys obliga a la seva revisió i a establir unes línies d'actuació per a orientar el seu desenvolupament i incorporar la innovació com un element propi del sistema que permeti assolir i potenciar el lideratge de la UOC en l'àmbit de l'aprenentatge virtual. El model que presentem és dinàmic i flexible. És pensat per a adaptar-se i evolucionar en el temps de manera constant. És un model que acosta la metodologia d'aprenentatge a l'experiència de l'estudiant i emfatitza l'aprenentatge en xarxa i a la xarxa. És un model que gira entorn del disseny d'espais, recursos i dinàmiques que afavoreixin l'aprenentatge. L'estudiant i la seva activitat d'aprenentatge són el centre de l'activitat formativa que busca una millora constant de les competències de l'estudiant. El model educatiu és orientat a la participació i la construcció col·lectiva de coneixement des d'un plantejament interdisciplinari i obert a l'experiència formativa, social i laboral dels estudiants. Aposta per un aprenentatge en col·laboració per mitjà de metodologies que impliquin la resolució de problemes, la participació en el desenvolupament de projectes, la creació conjunta de productes, la discussió i la indagació. Es busca incorporar elements lúdics per a millorar la motivació i l'aprenentatge de coneixements complexos. Està organitzat en quatre parts. La primera part recull l'anàlisi del model educatiu de la UOC a partir de les aportacions desenvolupades pel grup de treball sobre innovació en el model educatiu. La segona part descriu les característiques fonamentals de l'evolució del model educatiu que es proposa. En la tercera es concreta la missió de la UOC amb relació a la seva funció docent. I, finalment, la quarta part presenta una sèrie d'escenaris docents amb la idea d'identificar i fer explícites algunes línies de treball que ajudin a què el model evolucioni de manera contínua. The main objective of this document is to identify and specify the lines along which the evolution of the UOC's educational model must be directed and driven. This model was adequate when it was designed. The evolution of the university and the technological developments which have taken place over recent years mean that it now needs to be revised and new lines established to guide its development and to include innovation as an element which will help achieve and boost the UOC's leadership in the field of e-learning. The model we present is dynamic and flexible. It is designed to adapt and evolve constantly. It is a model that guarantees closer links between the learning methodology and the students' experience, emphasising networked and web-based learning. It is a model based on the design of spaces, resources and dynamics that aid learning. Students and their learning activities are the focus for training activities that look to ensure constant improvement of student competences. The educational model promotes participation and collective knowledge building through an interdisciplinary and open approach to students' educational, social and working experience. The model incorporates collaborative learning through methodologies that involve problem-solving, participation in the development of projects, joint creation of products, discussion and investigation. Efforts are made to introduce entertaining elements to increase motivation and aid learning of complex knowledge. As regards the structure, it is organised into four parts. The first part refers to the analysis of the UOC's educational model based on the contributions from the Innovation in the Educational Model working group. The second part describes the fundamental characteristics of the development of the proposed educational model. The third details the UOC's mission in relation to its teaching. And finally, the fourth section presents a series of teaching scenarios to identify and highlight the lines of action to ensure the model's continuous evolution.
