AbstractBurn injuries are prevalent and life-threatening forms that contribute significantly to mortality rates due to associated wound infections. The management of burn wounds presents substantial challenges. Hydrogel exhibits tremendous potential as an ideal alternative to traditional wound dressings such as gauze. This is primarily attributed to its three-dimensional (3D) crosslinked polymer network, which possesses a high water content, fostering a moist environment that supports effective burn wound healing. Additionally, hydrogel facilitates the penetration of loaded therapeutic agents throughout the wound surface, combating burn wound pathogens through the hydration effect and thereby enhancing the healing process. However, the presence of eschar formation on burn wounds obstructs the passive diffusion of therapeutics, impairing the efficacy of hydrogel as a wound dressing, particularly in cases of severe burns involving deeper tissue damage. This review focuses on exploring the potential of hydrogel as a carrier for transdermal drug delivery in burn wound treatment. Furthermore, strategies aimed at enhancing the transdermal delivery of therapeutic agents from hydrogel to optimize burn wound healing are also discussed.

Communication towers provide reliable wireless communication services and play a vital role in modern society. This paper presents an automatic 3D reconstruction framework for communication towers based on point clouds. The antenna is reconstructed by a model-driven method, which constructs an energy function including the data and smoothing terms to evaluate the model accuracy. The parameters of the antenna model are obtained by minimizing energy function with hybrid Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Simulated Annealing (SA). And the predefined model is transformed using these parameters to achieve antenna 3D reconstruction. For tower body reconstruction, the point cloud of the tower body is finely extracted with the region growing followed by piecewise fitting to obtain the model. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated on point clouds from six scenes. The average root-mean-square error (RMSE) of antenna reconstruction is 1.3 cm. The average precision, recall, and F1-score values of the tower body point extraction are 99.9%, 93.5%, and 96.6%, respectively. The average RMSE of tower body reconstruction is 1.2 cm. The experimental results indicate that the method can effectively reconstruct the antenna and tower body with point clouds, providing a feasible framework for the 3D reconstruction of communication towers.

Mandatory environmental information disclosure is characterized by formal environmental regulation and that the content of the disclosure promotes public participation and oversight in the environmental field. This paper studies the impact of mandatory environmental information disclosure (EID) enforcement in China on corporate capital cost using a difference-in-difference model. The results indicate that mandatory EID increases debt capital cost, but has no significant impact on equity capital cost, which differs from mainstream research that suggest EID can reduce capital cost. Mechanism tests reveal that mandatory EID raises debt capital cost by deteriorating the financial performance of enterprises. Further research finds that the mandatory EID also reduce enterprise's total debt amount and restructure debt structure by increasing short-term liability and decreasing long-term liability. In addition, the increasing effect of mandatory EID on the debt capital cost is more pronounced among non-SOE corporations, small-scale corporations and recession corporations. This study provides new empirical evidence for the impact effectiveness of mandatory EID and suggests different research views in the related field.

Tight oil is a typical unconventional resource, and enhancing its recovery rate remains a challenge in current development efforts. In this study targeting the Daqing Fuyu tight oil reservoir, we combine a high-temperature and high-pressure long core physical simulation apparatus and a high-temperature and high-pressure online Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) testing system to conduct indoor simulation experiments on CO2 huff and puff in long cores. The results indicate that in the process, it is primarily the oil from micro-pores that is initially mobilized, but further along mobilization of fluids from a portion of sub-micro-pores and nanopores is enhanced, with an efficiency ranging from 25 to 33 %. It was also found that there exist optimal conditions for huff and puff pressure, soaking time, and huff and puff cycles. Additionally, excessive extraction of light components by CO2 can prove disadvantageous for further improvement in huff and puff efficiency. This study can provide insight into the mechanisms of and data support for the development of CO2 huff and puff strategies in tight oil reservoirs, thereby contributing to the formulation of effective development plans.

ObjectiveOne factor associated with rising rates of depression and anxiety among youth is a lack of meaning in life (MIL). The importance of living a meaningful and purposeful life cannot be overstressed, especially for adolescents who are in a critical life stage and have recently experienced a 3-year-long global health crisis, namely the COVID-19 pandemic. Although previous studies have examined adolescents’ MIL, the majority of them adopted a variable-centered approach. The present study adopts a person-centered approach to investigate the updated MIL among Chinese adolescents in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, the demographic factors related to profile classification, and the differences in mental health among adolescents in different MIL classes.MethodsA questionnaire assessing MIL, depression, anxiety, stress, and demographic information was administered to 1,196 Chinese adolescents (mean age = 13.07 ± 0.58; 44.73% were female individuals). A three-step latent profile analysis was conducted.Results and discussionThis study revealed that (1) adolescents can be categorized into three classes: high MIL, medium MIL, and low and searching MIL. (2) Adolescents from intact families with higher educated mothers were more likely to be classified as high MIL class rather than low MIL class. Furthermore, (3) adolescents with high MIL experienced the best mental health outcomes, those with medium MIL experienced moderate mental health, and those with low MIL, who were still searching for MIL, exhibited the poorest mental health. External support may be necessary in the search process for Chinese adolescents. Future research could explore the process of searching for MIL and identify the challenges adolescents encounter when developing their sense of MIL.

Abstract Background Trans-radial (TRA) access has become increasingly prevalent in neurointervention. Nonetheless, mediastinal hematoma after TRA is an infrequent yet grave complication associated with a notably elevated mortality rate. While our review found no reported mediastinal hematoma cases managed conservatively within neuro-interventional literature, similar complications are documented in cardiac and vascular interventional radiology, indicating its potential occurrence across disciplines. Case Presentation Carotid computed tomography angiography (CTA) showed calcified plaques with stenosis (Left: Severe, Right: Moderate) in the bilateral internal carotid arteries (ICAs) of an 81-year-old male presented with paroxysmal weakness in the right upper limb. Dual antiplatelet therapy with aspirin and clopidogrel was administered. On day 7, DSA of the bilateral ICAs was performed via TRA. Post-DSA, the patient experienced transient loss of consciousness, chest tightness, and other symptoms without ECG or MRI abnormalities. Hemoglobin level decreased from 110 g/L to 92 g/L. Iodinated contrast-induced laryngeal edema was suspected, and the patient was treated with intravenous methylprednisolone. Neck CT indicated a possible mediastinal hemorrhage, which chest CTA confirmed. The patient’s treatment plan involved discontinuing antiplatelet medication as a precautionary measure against the potential occurrence of an ischemic stroke instead of the utilization of a covered stent graft and surgical intervention. Serial CTs revealed hematoma absorption. Discharge CT showed a reduced hematoma volume of 35 × 45 mm. Conclusions This case underscores the need for timely identification and precise manipulation of guidewires and guide-catheters through trans-radial access. The critical components of successful neuro-interventional techniques include timely examination, rapid identification, proper therapy, and diligent monitoring.

Abstract In situ exploration of the dynamic structure evolution of catalysts plays a key role in revealing reaction mechanisms and designing efficient catalysts. In this work, PtCu/MgO catalysts, synthesized via the co-impregnation method, outperforms monometallic Pt/MgO and Cu/MgO. Utilizing quasi/in-situ characterization techniques, it is discovered that there is an obvious structural evolution over PtCu/MgO from Pt x Cu y O z oxide cluster to PtCu alloy with surface CuO x species under different redox and CO oxidation reaction conditions. The synergistic effect between PtCu alloy and CuO x species enables good CO oxidation activity through the regulation of CO adsorption and O2 dissociation. At low temperatures, CO oxidation is predominantly catalyzed by surface CuO x species via the Mars-van Krevelen mechanism, in which CuO x can provide abundant active oxygen species. As the reaction temperature increases, both surface CuO x species and PtCu alloy collaborate to activate gaseous oxygen, facilitating CO oxidation mainly through the Langmuir-Hinshelwood mechanism.

Abstract The gas vesicle (GV) is like a hollow nanoparticle consisting of an internal gas and a protein shell, which mainly consists of hydrophobic gas vesicle protein A (GvpA) and GvpC attached to the surface. GVs, first discovered in cyanobacteria, are mainly produced by photosynthetic bacteria (PSB) and halophilic archaea. After being modified and engineered, GVs can be utilized as contrast agents, delivery carriers, and immunological boosters for disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment with good results due to their tiny size, strong stability and non-toxicity advantages. Many diagnostic and therapeutic approaches based on GV are currently under development. In this review, we discuss the source, function, physical and chemical properties of GV, focus on the current application progress of GV, and put forward the possible application prospect and development direction of GV in the future.

Waxy rice starch (St) was modified by pre-OSA esterification reaction followed by ozone treatment. The molecular structure of this modified product (OSA-OSt) was characterized, and the thermal behaviors and its stabilized Pickering emulsion were evaluated. 1HNMR and XPS results discovered that ozone initially oxidized the hydroxyl groups in the amorphous region of starch (preferentially C2/C3) along with a degree of crosslinking, enhancing the molecular orderliness. This led to an increase in water-holding capability (29.15%) and swelling power (52.8 g/g), and a decrease in solubility (0.35%). TGA, RVA, and DSC indicated that oxidation-induced crosslinking within a brief treatment period enhanced the starch's thermal stability. The structural change enabled the formation of a weak gel structure during the heating process, which displayed high thermal and freeze-thaw stability. The work proves ozone is an effective way of improving the thermal behavior of OSA-starch and its emulsion for subsequent applications in numerous food products.

Cancer is a significant disease that poses a major threat to human health. Image-guided cancer therapy refers to a series of medical procedures that use imaging technology to precisely locate and treat cancer. Combining the dual characteristics of medical images and functional nanomaterial (NM) drug carriers, various integrated diagnosis and treatment probes have been developed for in vivo dynamic monitoring and therapeutic effect evaluation of drugs based on medical imaging. Copper (Cu)-based NMs have emerged as valuable products of nanotechnology due to their unique physicochemical properties, which are influenced by factors, such as size, shape, and surface properties. In the field of imaging, Cu-based NMs offer a combination of desirable characteristics, including fluorescence emission, contrast enhancement, and radiolabeling stability. These properties form the foundation for a wide range of imaging modalities. In addition, Cu-based NMs can be used as a carrier for diagnostic or therapeutic drugs and the synergistic effect of multiple therapeutic modalities can be realized by doping multiple transition metals into the heterostructures. These properties have become an important basis for imaging-guided therapy with Cu-based NMs. In this review we introduce biocompatible Cu-based NMs for image-guided cancer therapy and provide an overview of the promising outcomes in biomedical research.

Abstract Background Sonodynamic therapy (SDT) has shown promise as a non-invasive cancer treatment due to its local effects and excellent tissue penetration. However, the limited accumulation of sonosensitizers at the tumor site hinders its therapeutic efficacy. Although nanosonosensitizers have improved local tumor accumulation through passive targeting via the enhanced permeability and retention effect (EPR), achieving sufficient accumulation and penetration into tumors remains challenging due to tumor heterogeneity and inaccurate targeting. Bacteria have become a promising biological carrier due to their unique characteristic of active targeting and deeper penetration into the tumor. Methods In this study, we developed nanosonosensitizers consisting of sonosensitizer, hematoporphyrin monomethyl ether (HMME), and perfluoro-n-pentane (PFP) loaded poly (lactic-co-glycolic) acid (PLGA) nanodroplets (HPNDs). These HPNDs were covalently conjugated onto the surface of Escherichia coli Nissle 1917 (EcN) using carbodiimine chemistry. EcN acted as an active targeting micromotor for efficient transportation of the nanosonosensitizers to the tumor site in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) treatment. Under ultrasound cavitation, the HPNDs were disrupted, releasing HMME and facilitating its uptakes by cancer cells. This process induced reactive oxygen species (ROS)-mediated cell apoptosis and immunogenic cell death (ICD) in vitro and in vivo. Results Our bacteria-driven nanosonosensitizer delivery system (HPNDs@EcN) achieved superior tumor localization of HMME in vivo compared to the group treated with only nanosonosensitizers. This enhanced local accumulation further improved the therapeutic effect of SDT induced-ICD therapeutic effect and inhibited tumor metastasis under ultrasound stimulation. Conclusions Our research demonstrates the potential of this ultrasound-responsive bacteria-driven nanosonosensitizer delivery system for SDT in TNBC. The combination of targeted delivery using bacteria and nanosonosensitizer-based therapy holds promise for achieving improved treatment outcomes by enhancing local tumor accumulation and stimulating ICD. Abstract Background Radiotherapy (RT) is a widely utilized tumor treatment approach, while a significant obstacle in this treatment modality is the radioresistance exhibited by tumor cells. To enhance the effectiveness of RT, scientists have explored radiosensitization approaches, including the use of radiosensitizers and physical stimuli. Nevertheless, several approaches have exhibited disappointing results including adverse effects and limited efficacy. A safer and more effective method of radiosensitization involves low‐intensity ultrasound (LIUS), which selectively targets tumor tissue and enhances the efficacy of radiation therapy. Methods This review summarized the tumor radioresistance reasons and explored LIUS potential radiosensitization mechanisms. Moreover, it covered diverse LIUS application strategies in radiosensitization, including the use of LIUS alone, ultrasound‐targeted intravascular microbubble destruction, ultrasound‐mediated targeted radiosensitizers delivery, and sonodynamic therapy. Lastly, the review presented the limitations and prospects of employing LIUS‐RT combined therapy in clinical settings, emphasizing the need to connect research findings with practical applications. Results and Conclusion LIUS employs cost‐effective equipment to foster tumor radiosensitization, curtail radiation exposure, and elevate the quality of life for patients. This efficacy is attributed to LIUS's ability to utilize thermal, cavitation, and mechanical effects to overcome tumor cell resistance to RT. Multiple experimental analyses have underscored the effectiveness of LIUS in inducing tumor radiosensitization using diverse strategies. While initial studies have shown promising results, conducting more comprehensive clinical trials is crucial to confirm its safety and effectiveness in real‐world situations.

As a new engine driving economic development, new digital infrastructure plays a significant role in enhancing green total factor productivity. Based on 2011–2020 panel data covering 30 Chinese provinces, this study empirically investigates the effects and mechanisms of new digital infrastructure on green total factor productivity. The results show that new digital infrastructure can significantly improve regional green total factor productivity, and this conclusion remains valid after a series of robustness tests and regressions of instrumental variables. Further mechanism research shows that new digital infrastructure indirectly promotes the growth of green total factor productivity by improving capital misallocation and driving technological innovation, while there is no mediating mechanism of labor misallocation. In addition, there is significant heterogeneity in the impact of new digital infrastructure on green total factor productivity. Especially during periods of high government attention, in the eastern regions, and in areas with higher levels of human capital, the positive incentive effect of new digital infrastructure is more significant. This study provides empirical evidence and policy references for promoting and amplifying the green growth effects of new digital infrastructure.

Radiotherapy causes apoptosis mainly through direct or indirect damage to DNA via ionizing radiation, leading to DNA strand breaks. However, the efficacy of radiotherapy is attenuated in malignant tumor microenvironment (TME), such as hypoxia. Tumor vasculature, due to the imbalance of various angiogenic and anti-angiogenic factors, leads to irregular morphology of tumor neovasculature, disordered arrangement of endothelial cells, and too little peripheral coverage. This ultimately leads to a TME characterized by hypoxia, low pH and high interstitial pressure. This deleterious TME further exacerbates the adverse effects of tumor neovascularization and weakens the efficacy of conventional radiotherapy. Whereas normalization of blood vessels improves TME and thus the efficacy of radiotherapy. In addition to describing the research progress of radiotherapy sensitization and vascular normalization, this review focuses on the strategy and application prospect of modulating vascular normalization to improve the efficacy of radiotherapy sensitization.

[Objective] In the new round of metro politan rail transit integration construction, enhancing train through-operation is crucial for reducing passenger interchange time. Cross-system intercity railway through-operation requires efficient train operation and scheduling management, and unified management of electronic map basic data for different lines is the key. [Method] Based on the practical demand for unified management of regional multi-system line electronic map data, the current application status of electronic maps in CBTC (communication-based train control) and CTCS (China train control system) systems is investigated. The differences in information content, acquisition methods, and transmission media of electronic maps for different signaling systems are comparatively analyzed. A regional rail transit line data management system based on a three-tier architecture comprising a regional center, local control platforms, and local workstations is proposed. Additionally, the data storage structure, data downloading method, and platform software features of the system are detailed. [Result & Conclusion] Establishing a unified management system for electronic map basic data of different lines within a region can better serve the comprehensive development of regional rail transit data synthesis, resource sharing, and management-control integration, which ensures integrated linkage command of regional rail transit, forms a multi-tiered comprehensive transportation system, and facilitates the high-quality development of regional rail transit integration in megapolitan areas.

Synthetic aperture radar automatic target recognition (SAR-ATR) models based on deep neural networks (DNNs) are vulnerable to attacks of adversarial examples. Universal adversarial attack algorithms can help evaluate and improve the robustness of the SAR-ATR models and have become a research hotspot. However, current universal adversarial attack algorithms have limitations. First, considering the difficulty in obtaining information on the attacking SAR-ATR models, there is an urgent need to design a universal adversarial attack algorithm under a black-box scenario. Second, given the difficulty of acquiring synthetic aperture radar images, the effectiveness of attacks under small-sample conditions requires improvement. To address these limitations, this study proposed a black-box universal adversarial attack algorithm: transferable universal adversarial network (TUAN). Based on the idea of the generative adversarial network, we implemented the game of generator and attenuator to improve the transferability of universal adversarial perturbation (UAP). We designed loss functions for the generator and the attenuator, respectively, which can effectively improve the success rate of black-box attacks and the stealthiness of attacks. In addition, U-Net was used as a network structure of the generator and the attenuator to fully learn the distribution of examples, thereby enhancing the attack success rate under small-sample conditions. The TUAN attained a higher black-box attack success rate and superior stealthiness than up-to-date UAP algorithms in non-targeted and targeted attacks.

CO2 emissions from building operations have increased to their highest level, moving away from the Paris Agreement goal of below 2 °C. Zero carbon housing (ZCH) has been identified as a viable solution to realise carbon neutrality. However, ZCHs are barely recognised by the mainstream market due to the misconception of high up-front cost. This research aims to identify affordable solutions for ZCH by synergising building design, mechanical services, and renewable energy, and to balance capital cost and environmental benefits. An integrated framework of energy simulation, sensitivity analysis, and multi-objective optimisation is employed to achieve the goals. A representative house design is selected to demonstrate the proposed methodology, and a national energy rating scheme in Australia, NatHERS, is used for validation. The optimisation identified eight optimal solutions, resulting in a CO2 emission reduction between 1.894 tCO2 to 2.259 tCO2 with increased indoor comfort of 1.3%–2.6%. This research also finds that given the policy incentives, the actual incremental cost is marginal after the government rebate. This research addresses the major barriers of the high up-front cost associated with ZCH through an integrated approach. The research facilitates the paradigm shift in the mainstream market, promoting the development and market expansion of ZCH.

With the popularization of informal learning styles in universities, building overheads in hot and humid regions of China has become one of the main spaces for informal learning among college students in the region due to their improved thermal environmental conditions relative to outdoor spaces. However, the effects of thermal environmental changes on students’ learning performance on the overhead floors are not yet clear. Therefore, we recruited volunteers to conduct several tests, including the Stroop test, the Go/No-go test, the 2-back test, and the 3-back test, in the overhead space of a building in September and October. This was followed by a questionnaire survey, which yielded a total of 500 samples. Learning performance was quantified as a total of accuracy, response time, and final performance metrics. The results show that in hot and humid regions of China, the thermal perception of college students in the overhead was mainly related to Ta and Tmrt, and the relationship with Va was not significant; the maximum acceptable physiological equivalent temperature of college students in the overhead space was 30.3 °C; the change in the thermal environment had an effect on the learning performance of the four tests, and under neutral to slightly warm temperature (22.1–31.2 °C physiological equivalent temperature), the learning performance of the perceptually oriented and short-term memory task types increased by 2.5% and 1.1%, and the relationship between thermal environment and learning performance was not significant when the short-term memory task became more difficult. Attention-oriented learning had a relationship between the spatial thermal environment and learning performance in overhead spaces in hot and humid regions and suggests a basis for future overhead retrofitting.

Structural monitoring is crucial for assessing structural health, and high-precision deformation prediction can provide early warnings for safety monitoring. To address the issue of low prediction accuracy caused by the non-stationary and nonlinear characteristics of deformation sequences, this paper proposes a similarity clustering (SC) deformation prediction model based on GNSS/accelerometer time-frequency analysis. First, the complete ensemble empirical mode decomposition with adaptive noise (CEEMDAN) algorithm is used to decompose the original monitoring data, and the time-frequency characteristic correlations of the deformation data are established. Then, similarity clustering is conducted for the monitoring sub-sequences based on their frequency domain characteristics, and clustered sequences are combined subsequently. Finally, the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) model is used to separately predict GNSS displacement and acceleration with clustered time series, and the overall deformation displacement is reconstructed based on the predicted GNSS displacement and acceleration-derived displacement. A shake table simulation experiment was conducted to validate the feasibility and performance of the proposed CEEMDAN-SC-LSTM model. A duration of 5 s displacement prediction is analyzed after 153 s of monitoring data training. The results demonstrate that the root mean square error (RMSE) of predicted displacement is 0.011 m with the proposed model, which achieves an improvement of 64.45% and 61.51% in comparison to the CEEMDAN-LSTM and LSTM models, respectively. The acceleration predictions also show an improvement of 96.49% and 95.58%, respectively, the RMSE of the predicted acceleration-reconstructed displacement is less than 1 mm, with a reconstruction similarity of over 99%. The overall displacement reconstruction similarity can reach over 95%.

CO2-enhanced oil recovery (CO2-EOR) is a crucial method for CO2 utilization and sequestration, representing an important zero-carbon or even negative-carbon emission reduction technology. However, the low viscosity of CO2 and reservoir heterogeneity often result in early gas breakthrough, significantly reducing CO2 utilization and sequestration efficiency. A water-alternating-gas (WAG) injection is a technique for mitigating gas breakthrough and viscous fingering in CO2-EOR. However, it encounters challenges related to insufficient mobility control in highly heterogeneous and fractured reservoirs, resulting in gas channeling and low sweep efficiency. Despite the extensive application and research of a WAG injection in oil and gas reservoirs, the most recent comprehensive review dates back to 2018, which focuses on the mechanisms of EOR using conventional WAG. Herein, we give an updated and comprehensive review to incorporate the latest advancements in CO2-WAG flooding techniques for enhanced sweep efficiency, which includes the theory, applications, fluid displacement mechanisms, and control strategies of a CO2-WAG injection. It addresses common challenges, operational issues, and remedial measures in WAG projects by covering studies from experiments, simulations, and pore-scale modeling. This review aims to provide guidance and serve as a reference for the application and research advancement of CO2-EOR techniques in heterogeneous and fractured reservoirs.

The integration of multi-source remote sensing data, bolstered by advancements in deep learning, has emerged as a pivotal strategy for enhancing land use and land cover (LULC) classification accuracy. However, current methods often fail to consider the numerous prior knowledge of remote sensing images and the characteristics of heterogeneous remote sensing data, resulting in data loss between different modalities and the loss of a significant amount of useful information, thus affecting classification accuracy. To tackle these challenges, this paper proposes a LULC classification method based on remote sensing data that combines a Transformer and cross-pseudo-siamese learning deep neural network (TCPSNet). It first conducts shallow feature extraction in a dynamic multi-scale manner, fully leveraging the prior information of remote sensing data. Then, it further models deep features through the multimodal cross-attention module (MCAM) and cross-pseudo-siamese learning module (CPSLM). Finally, it achieves comprehensive fusion of local and global features through feature-level fusion and decision-level fusion combinations. Extensive experiments on datasets such as Trento, Houston 2013, Augsburg, MUUFL and Berlin demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed TCPSNet. The overall accuracy (OA) of the network on the Trento, Houston 2013 and Augsburg datasets is of 99.76%, 99.92%, 97.41%, 87.97% and 97.96%, respectively.

Abstract The regulation of heterogeneous material properties to enhance the peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation to degrade emerging organic pollutants remains a challenge. To solve this problem, we synthesize S−scheme heterojunction PBA/MoS2@chitosan hydrogel to achieve photoexcitation synergistic PMS activation. The constructed heterojunction photoexcited carriers undergo redox conversion with PMS through S−scheme transfer pathway driven by the directional interface electric field. Multiple synergistic pathways greatly enhance the reactive oxygen species generation, leading to a significant increase in doxycycline degradation rate. Meanwhile, the 3D polymer chain spatial structure of chitosan hydrogel is conducive to rapid PMS capture and electron transport in advanced oxidation process, reducing the use of transition metal activator and limiting the leaching of metal ions. There is reason to believe that the synergistic activation of PMS by S−scheme heterojunction regulated by photoexcitation will provide a new perspective for future material design and research on enhancing heterologous catalysis oxidation process.

Abstract While morphology constitutes a crucial component of the human language system, the neural bases of morphological processing in the human brain remains to be elucidated. The current study aims at exploring the extent to which the second language (L2) morphological processing would resemble or differ from that of their first language (L1) in adult Chinese-English bilinguals. Bilingual participants were asked to complete a morphological priming lexical decision task drawing on derivational morphology, which is present for both Chinese and English, when their electrophysiological and optical responses were recorded concurrently. Functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) revealed a neural dissociation between morphological and semantic priming effects in the left fronto-temporal network, while L1 Chinese engaged enhanced activation in the left prefrontal cortex for morphological parsing relative to L2 English. In the early stage of lexical processing, cross-language morphological processing manifested a difference in degree, not in kind, as revealed by the early left anterior negativity (ELAN) effect. In addition, L1 and L2 shared both early and late structural parsing processes (P250 and 300 ~ 500 ms negativity, respectively). Therefore, the current results support a unified competition model for bilingual development, where bilinguals would primarily employ L1 neural resources for L2 morphological representation and processing.

Abstract Due to their inherent tunable spectrum, high brightness, excellent biostability and biocompatibility, and functionalization of surfaces, semiconducting polymer dots (Pdots) are now playing an essential role in fluorescent (FL) imaging and disease treatment through bioconjugation with peptides or biomimetic materials. In particular, biomimetic Pdots exhibit their capability in targeted imaging of lesion and increased efficacy for targeting disease treatment. This review will inspect the recent advances in the design and functionalization strategies of biomodified and biomimetic Pdots for enhanced disease detection and therapy. More importantly, the application of these two modifications in targeted FL imaging and cancer treatment is to be addressed in detail. Meanwhile, the main challenges and prospects of biomimetic and biomodified Pdots are to be discussed, which will pave a new avenue for improved disease detection and imaging‐guided treatment.

In order to understand the mechanism of air flooding shale oil, an online physical simulation method for enhanced shale oil recovery by air injection was established by integrating CT scanning and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). The development effect of shale oil by air flooding under different depletion pressures, the micro-production characteristics of pore throats with different sizes and the mechanism of shale oil recovery by air flooding were analyzed. The effects of air oxygen content, permeability, gas injection pressure, and fractures on the air flooding effect in shale and crude oil production in pores with different sizes were analyzed. The recovery of shale oil can be greatly improved by injecting air into the depleted shale reservoir, but the oil displacement efficiency and the production degree of different levels of pore throats vary with the injection timing. The higher the air oxygen content and the stronger the low-temperature oxidation, the higher the production degree of pores with different sizes and the higher the shale oil recovery. The higher the permeability and the better the pore throat connectivity, the stronger the fluid flow capacity and the higher the shale oil recovery. As the injection pressure increases, the lower limit of the production degree of pore throats decreases, but gas channeling may occur to cause a premature breakthrough; as a result, the recovery increases and then decreases. Fractures can effectively increase the contact area between gas and crude oil, and increase the air sweep coefficient and matrix oil drainage area by supplying oil to fractures through the matrix, which means that a proper fracturing before air injection can help to improve the oil displacement effect under a reasonable production pressure difference.

Introduction: With the rapid development of human society and economy, the power generation technology of various new energy vehicles has begun to receive widespread attention.Methods: Due to the lack of inertia and frequency stability in the new energy vehicle power generation system, this paper proposes a power generation control method that combines linear active disturbance rejection control technology and virtual synchronous generator technology. This method first introduces the control strategy and inertial response of the virtual synchronous generator. Then, it uses linear active disturbance rejection control technology to improve the virtual synchronous generator technology to deal with the uncertainty and external interference in the system.Results: The results showed that when the virtual inertia coefficient was 0, and the new energy vehicles would hardly intervene in the regulation of the grid voltage. When the virtual inertia coefficient was 5, the decline rate of the DC bus voltage of new energy vehicles had slowed down. When the virtual inertia coefficient increased, the power output of new energy vehicles can be increased to the grid. When the load suddenly increased, and the corresponding DC bus voltage decreased more slowly. In the VSG output power comparison, under the research method, the frequency fluctuation only increased by 0.09 Hz and returned to the rated frequency of 50 Hz. Additionally, the dynamic process of the system output power was the shortest, lasting only 0.05 s.Discussion: The above results show that the research method has significant superiority and effectiveness in improving the inertial response and overall stability of the new energy vehicle power system.

In order to identify and evaluate reservoir wettability, so as to select suitable mining methods to improve oil recovery, wettability evaluation through one-dimensional (1D) and two-dimensional (2D) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) technology combined with physical simulation experiments was carried out in this study, and the feasibility of the experimental method was verified by contact Angle method. According to the principle of hydrophilic inorganic content and hydrophobic organic content of shale, the wettability can be evaluated through vacuum self-imbibition oil and self-imbibition water physical simulation experiments combined with 1D NMR technology, that is, total water absorption can be considered as inorganic content, organic content can be obtained by subtracting total water absorption from total oil absorption, and adsorbed oil content can be obtained by subtracting pore volume from total oil absorption. In addition to the wettability measurement by contact Angle method to verify the experimental method, the occurrence ratio of adsorbed oil can also be verified twice by 2D NMR spectrum. The results show that the error between the proportion of adsorbed oil measured by 2D NMR spectrum and that measured by self-imbibition method is within 4%. In the saturated oil-bound water state, the bound water is within the relaxation interval of 110 ms and T2>10 ms. And the relaxation time of aqueous phase moved to the right compared with that in the saturated water state, the interaction force between water and the pore wall was weakened, showing the characteristics of free fluid, and the rock sample became oil-wet, which was consistent with the wettability results measured by contact Angle. Therefore, the wettability of rock samples can be evaluated by 1D NMR technique combined with vacuum imbibition method, or by analyzing the changes of NMR spectra of aqueous phase in completely saturated water and saturated oil-bound water.

The confinement effect in micro- and nanopores gives rise to distinct flow characteristics in fluids. Clarifying the fluid migration pattern in confined space is crucial for understanding and explaining the abnormal flow phenomena in unconventional reservoirs. In this study, flow characteristics of water and oil in alumina nanochannels were investigated with diameters ranging from 21 nm to 120 nm, and a heterogeneous viscosity flow model considering boundary fluid was proposed. Compared with the prediction of the HP equation, both types of fluids exhibit significant flow suppression in nanochannels. As the channel size decreases, the deviation degree increases. The fluid viscosity of the boundary region displays an upward trend as the channel size decreases and the influence of the interaction between the liquid and solid walls intensifies. The thickness of the boundary region gradually decreases with increasing pressure and eventually reaches a stable value, which is primarily determined by the strength of the interaction between the liquid and solid surfaces. Both the pore size and wettability are essential factors that affect the fluid flow. When the space scale is extremely small, the impact of wettability becomes more pronounced. Finally, the application of the heterogeneous flow model for permeability evaluation has yielded favorable fitting results. The model is of great significance for studying the fluid flow behavior in unconventional reservoirs.

In view of the weak research on the availability of typical shale oil reservoirs from the perspective of development, this study introduced a two-dimensional nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) evaluation method on the basis of the previous one-dimensional NMR combined with centrifugal physical simulation experiments. Not only the production characteristics of typical shale oil reservoirs were studied but also the microscopic production laws of different occurrence states were studied. The results show that the pore distribution of Jilin shale is more concentrated than that of Qinghai shale. The oil of the two blocks mainly occurs in 0.01–10 ms pores, and the occurrence ratio of Jilin shale in the pores is higher, which is more than 90%. The oil production of the two blocks is mainly dominated by 0.01–10 ms pores, and the utilization efficiency contribution of these pores in Jilin shale is higher, accounting for about 80%. The utilization efficiency (UE) increases logarithmically with centrifugal force, and the growth rate of Jilin shale is greater than that of Qinghai shale. The proportion of free oil in Jilin block is less than that in Qinghai block. The shale oil in the two blocks is both at 15% final UE, and the UE of free oil in Jilin shale is about 9% and that of Qinghai shale is about 12%. The recoverability of Jilin shale is lower than that of Qinghai shale.

Within the context of CO2 emission peaking and carbon neutrality, the study of CO2 emissions at the provincial level is few. Sichuan Province in China has not only superior clean energy resources endowment but also great potential for the reduction of CO2 emissions. Therefore, using logarithmic mean Divisia index (LMDI) model to analysis the influence degree of different influencing factors on CO2 emissions from final energy consumption in Sichuan Province, so as to formulate corresponding emission reduction countermeasures from different paths according to the influencing factors. Based on the data of final energy consumption in Sichuan Province from 2010 to 2019, we calculated CO2 emission by the indirect emission calculation method. The influencing factors of CO2 emissions originating from final energy consumption in Sichuan Province were decomposed into population size, economic development, industrial structure, energy consumption intensity, and energy consumption structure by the Kaya–logarithmic mean Divisia index (LMDI) decomposition model. At the same time, grey correlation analysis was used to identify the correlation between CO2 emissions originating from final energy consumption and the influencing factors in Sichuan Province. The results showed that population size, economic development and energy consumption structure have positive contributions to CO2 emissions from final energy consumption in Sichuan Province, and economic development has a significant contribution to CO2 emissions from final energy consumption, with a contribution rate of 519.11%. The industrial structure and energy consumption intensity have negative contributions to CO2 emissions in Sichuan Province, and both of them have significant contributions, among which the contribution rate of energy consumption structure was 325.96%. From the perspective of industrial structure, secondary industry makes significant contributions and will maintain a restraining effect; from the perspective of energy consumption structure, industry sector has a significant contribution. The results of this paper are conducive to the implementation of carbon emission reduction policies in Sichuan Province.

Communication tower (CT) and its accessory equipment (AE) such as radio frequency equipment (RFE) and antenna, are essential in providing highspeed and stable mobile network services. It is necessary to routinely monitor the security and stability of CT and AE for seamless communication. There is limited research on fine segmentation of communication base station objects. This paper proposes a method for accurately segmenting the point cloud of the CT and AE from Terrestrial Laser Scanning (TLS) data. At first, the CT point cloud is accurately segmented based on region growing and Random Sample Consensus (RANSAC). Then, the point cloud of pole-shaped apart is extended to a certain distance to obtain the buffer point cloud containing AE. Normal Differential (ND) clustering is employed to obtain several groups of clusters containing planes, and calculate each plane's filling rate and size. Finally, the cluster type (such as antenna, RFE, or other) is distinguished. The experimental results demonstrate that the point-based average F1-score of CTs is 98. 70%, the point-based and object-based average F1-scores of antennas are 96. 09% and 97. 93%, and the corresponding values for the RFE are 89. 89% and 90. 00%, respectively, indicating the optimal performance of the proposed method.

Abstract Sulfur cathodes in Li–S batteries suffer significant volumetric expansion and lack of catalytic activity for polysulfide conversion. In this study, a confined self‐reduction synthetic route is developed for preparing nanocomposites using diverse metal ions (Mn2+, Co2+, Ni2+, and Zn2+)‐introduced Al‐MIL‐96 as precursors. The Ni2+‐introduced Al‐MIL‐96‐derived nanocomposite contains a “hardness unit”, amorphous aluminum oxide framework, to restrain the volumetric expansion, and a “softness unit”, Ni nanocrystals, to improve the catalytic activity. The oxygen‐potential diagram theoretically explains why Ni2+ is preferentially reduced. Postmortem microstructure characterization confirms the suppressive volume expansion. The in situ ultraviolet–visible measurements are performed to probe the catalytic activity of polysulfide conversion. This study provides a new perspective for designing nanocomposites with “hardness units” and “softness units” as sulfur or other catalyst hosts.

The complexity of terrain features poses a substantial challenge in the effective processing and application of airborne LiDAR data, particularly in regions characterized by steep slopes and diverse objects. In this paper, we propose a novel multiscale filtering method utilizing a modified 3D alpha shape algorithm to increase the ground point extraction accuracy in complex terrain. Our methodology comprises three pivotal stages: preprocessing for outlier removal and potential ground point extraction; the deployment of a modified 3D alpha shape to construct multiscale point cloud layers; and the use of a multiscale triangulated irregular network (TIN) densification process for precise ground point extraction. In each layer, the threshold is adaptively determined based on the corresponding α. Points closer to the TIN surface than the threshold are identified as ground points. The performance of the proposed method was validated using a classical benchmark dataset provided by the ISPRS and an ultra-large-scale ground filtering dataset called OpenGF. The experimental results demonstrate that this method is effective, with an average total error and a kappa coefficient on the ISPRS dataset of 3.27% and 88.97%, respectively. When tested in the large scenarios of the OpenGF dataset, the proposed method outperformed four classical filtering methods and achieved accuracy comparable to that of the best of learning-based methods.

Abstract As a typical halophyte, Nitraria tangutorum Bobr. has attracted the interest of many researchers with the excellent salt tolerance. Elucidation of the mechanism of N. tangutorum salinity tolerance will facilitate the genetic improvement of productive plants faced with salinity. To reveal the molecular response to gradually accumulated salt stress in N. tangutorum, RNA-sequencing and analysis of gradually accumulated NaCl treated samples and control samples were performed, and a total of 1419 differentially expressed genes were identified, including 949 down-regulated genes and 470 up-regulated genes. Detailed analysis uncovered that the catabolism of organic compounds mainly based on oxidative phosphorylation genes was up-regulated. Additionally, various antioxidant genes, especially anthocyanin-related genes, were found to help N. tangutorum remove reactive oxygen species. Moreover, the Mitogen activated protein kinase signaling pathway and other signaling pathways co-regulated various salt tolerance activities. Additionally, intracellular ion homeostasis was maintained via regulation of osmotic regulator-related genes, cutin-related genes, and cell elongation-related genes to retain cellular water and reduce ion concentration. In particularly, simultaneous up-regulation in cytoskeleton-related genes, cell wall-related genes, and auxin-related genes, provided evidence of important role of cell expansion in plant salt tolerance. In conclusion, complex regulatory mechanisms modulated by multiple genes might contribute to the salt tolerance by N. tangutorum.

Abstract Bacteria-based tumor therapy has recently attracted wide attentions due to its unique capability in targeting tumors and preferentially colonizing the core area of the tumor. Various therapeutic genes are also harbored into these engineering bacteria to enhance their anti-tumor efficacy. However, it is difficult to spatiotemporally control the expression of these inserted genes in the tumor site. Here, we engineer an ultrasound-responsive bacterium (URB) which can induce the expression of exogenous genes in an ultrasound-controllable manner. Owing to the advantage of ultrasound in tissue penetration, an acoustic remote control of bacterial gene expression can be realized by designing a temperature-actuated genetic switch. Cytokine interferon-γ (IFN-γ), an important immune regulatory molecule that plays a significant role in tumor immunotherapy, is used to test the system. Our results show that brief hyperthermia induced by focused ultrasound promotes the expression of IFN-γ gene, improving anti-tumor efficacy of URB in vitro and in vivo. Our study provides an alternative strategy for bacteria-mediated tumor immunotherapy.

Abstract Overexpression of classically activated macrophages (M1) subtypes and assessed reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels are often observed in patients with ulcerative colitis. At present, the treatment system of these two problems has yet to be established. Here, the chemotherapy drug curcumin (CCM) is decorated with Prussian blue analogs in a straightforward and cost‐saving manner. Modified CCM can be released in inflammatory tissue (acidic environment), eventually causing M1 macrophages to transform into M2 macrophages and inhibiting pro‐inflammatory factors. Co(III) and Fe(II) have abundant valence variations, and the lower REDOX potential in CCM‐CoFe PBA enables ROS clearance through multi‐nanomase activity. In addition, CCM‐CoFe PBA effectively alleviated the symptoms of UC mice induced by DSS and inhibited the progression of the disease. Therefore, the present material may be used as a new therapeutic agent for UC.

Accurately capturing the impact of urban trees on temperature can help optimize urban heat mitigation strategies. Recently, there has been widespread use of remotely sensed land surface temperature ( T _s ) to quantify the cooling efficiency (CE) of urban trees. However, remotely sensed T _s reflects emitted radiation from the surface of an object seen from the point of view of the thermal sensor, which is not a good proxy for the air temperature ( T _a ) perceived by humans. The extent to which the CEs derived from T _s reflect the true experiences of urban residents is debatable. Therefore, this study systematically compared the T _s -based CE (CE _T _s ) with the T _a -based CE (CE _T _a ) in 392 European urban clusters. CE _T _s and CE _T _a were defined as the reductions in T _s and T _a , respectively, for every 1% increase in fractional tree cover (FTC). The results show that the increase in FTC has a substantial impact on reducing T _s and T _a in most cities during daytime. However, at night, the response of T _s and T _a to increased FTC appears to be much weaker and ambiguous. On average, for European cities, daytime CE _T _s reaches 0.075 °C % ^−1 , which is significantly higher (by an order of magnitude) than the corresponding CE _T _a of 0.006 °C % ^−1 . In contrast, the average nighttime CE _T _s and CE _T _a for European cities are similar, both approximating zero. Overall, urban trees can lower daytime temperatures, but the magnitude of their cooling effect is notably amplified when using remotely sensed T _s estimates compared to in situ T _a measurements, which is important to consider for accurately constraining public health benefits. Our findings provide critical insights into the realistic efficiencies of alleviating urban heat through tree planting.

CO2 flooding is a pivotal technique for significantly enhancing oil recovery in low-permeability reservoirs. The movement and sweeping rules at the front of CO2 flooding play a critical role in oil recovery; yet, a comprehensive quantitative analysis remains an area in need of refinement. In this study, we developed 1-D and 2-D numerical simulation models to explore the sweeping behavior of miscible, immiscible, and partly miscible CO2 flooding patterns. The front position and movement rules of the three CO2 flooding patterns were determined. A novel approach to the contour area calculation method was introduced to quantitatively characterize the sweep coefficients, and the sweeping rules are discussed regarding the geological parameters, oil viscosity, and injection–production parameters. Furthermore, the Random Forest (RF) algorithm was employed to identify the controlling factor of the sweep coefficient, as determined through the use of out-of-bag (OOB) data permutation analysis. The results showed that the miscible front was located at the point of maximum CO2 content in the oil phase. The immiscible front occurred at the point of maximum interfacial tension near the production well. Remarkably, the immiscible front moved at a faster rate compared with the miscible front. Geological parameters, including porosity, permeability, and reservoir thickness, significantly impacted the gravity segregation effect, thereby influencing the CO2 sweep coefficient. Immiscible flooding exhibited the highest degree of gravity segregation, with a maximum gravity segregation degree (GSD) reaching 78.1. The permeability ratio was a crucial factor, with a lower limit of approximately 5.0 for reservoirs suitable for CO2 flooding. Injection–production parameters also played a pivotal role in terms of the sweep coefficient. Decreased well spacing and increased gas injection rates were found to enhance sweep coefficients by suppressing gravity segregation. Additionally, higher gas injection rates could improve the miscibility degree of partly miscible flooding from 0.69 to 1.0. Oil viscosity proved to be a significant factor influencing the sweep coefficients, with high seepage resistance due to increasing oil viscosity dominating the miscible and partly miscible flooding patterns. Conversely, gravity segregation primarily governed the sweep coefficient in immiscible flooding. In terms of controlling factors, the permeability ratio emerged as a paramount influence, with a factor importance value (FI) reaching 1.04. The findings of this study can help for a better understanding of sweeping rules of CO2 flooding and providing valuable insights for optimizing oil recovery strategies in the field applications of CO2 flooding.

Wettability, as a vital tool for analyzing and describing oil flow, plays a significant role in determining oil/water relative permeability, residual oil distribution, and on–site recovery efficiency. Although the contact angle method is widely used for measuring wetting behavior, it is susceptible to the effects of surface roughness, oil–water saturation, and the distribution of mixed wetting within the range of droplet sizes. Additionally, millimeter–scale droplets fail to accurately represent the wetting distribution and the influencing factors at the micro/nano–scale. Therefore, this study presents a comprehensive investigation of the microstructure and wettability of shale samples. The characterization of the samples was performed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) techniques to gain insights into their microscopic features, surface properties, and wettability. Results demonstrate the following: (1) Quartz and clay minerals tended to exhibit rough surface topography, appearing as darker areas (DA) under scanning electron microscopy (SEM). It is worth noting that plagioclase minerals exhibited brighter areas (BA) under SEM. (2) An increase in the content of minerals such as quartz and clay minerals was observed to decrease the surface oil wetting behavior. In contrast, plagioclase feldspar exhibited an opposite trend. (3) Based on the adhesive forces of the samples towards oil or water, a wetting index, I, was established to evaluate the wettability of shale at a microscale. The dimensionless contact angle W, obtained by normalizing the contact angle measurement, also consistently indicated oil wetting behavior. (4) By comparing the differences between I and W, it was observed that surface roughness significantly affected the behavior of water droplets. The presence of roughness impeded the contact between the solid and liquid phases, thus influencing the accuracy of the wetting results. Organic matter also plays a significant role in influencing surface wettability, and its distribution within the shale samples can lead to localized variations in wettability.

Natural products are widely used for treating mitochondrial dysfunction-related diseases and cancers. Curcumin, a well-known natural product, can be potentially used to treat cancer. Human salt-induced kinase 3 (SIK3) is one of the target proteins for curcumin. However, the interactions between curcumin and human SIK3 have not yet been investigated in detail. In this study, we studied the binding models for the interactions between curcumin and human SIK3 using computational tools such as homology modeling, molecular docking, molecular dynamics simulations, and binding free energy calculations. The open activity loop conformation of SIK3 with the ketoenol form of curcumin was the optimal binding model. The I72, V80, A93, Y144, A145, and L195 residues played a key role for curcumin binding with human SIK3. The interactions between curcumin and human SIK3 were also investigated using the kinase assay. Moreover, curcumin exhibited an IC50 (half-maximal inhibitory concentration) value of 131 nM, and it showed significant antiproliferative activities of 9.62 ± 0.33 µM and 72.37 ± 0.37 µM against the MCF-7 and MDA-MB-23 cell lines, respectively. This study provides detailed information on the binding of curcumin with human SIK3 and may facilitate the design of novel salt-inducible kinases inhibitors.

Based on the panel data of 30 provinces, cities and districts in China from 2006 to 2019.MethodsThis paper uses fixed effect model and spatial Durbin model to explore the effect and mechanism of artificial intelligence (AI) on regional carbon emission intensity (CEI).ResultsThe results show that: (1) there is a significant inverted U-shaped between AI and CEI, that is, with the deepening of the development of AI, CEI first increases and then decreases. (2) There is a significant spatial correlation between the development of AI and CEI in China. (3) AI has a significant spatial spillover effect on CEI of adjacent regions, and it shows an inverted U-shaped track-from promoting to restraining.DiscussionThe conclusion provides policy implications for the formulation of AI development strategy and so on during the specific period.

Immunotherapy is widely regarded as a promising treatment for cancer. However, the immune effector phase suppression of tumor microenvironment (TME) and the generation of immune-related adverse events limit its application. Research indicates that sonodynamic therapy (SDT) can effectively activate antitumor immunity while killing tumor cells. SDT produces cytotoxic substances of tumors, and then cell apoptosis and immunogenic death occur by selectively activating the sonosensitizer under ultrasound. In recent years, various SDT alone as well as SDT in combination with other therapies have been developed to induce immunogenic cell death (ICD) and enhance immunotherapy. This paper overviews the research progress of SDT and nanotechnology in recent years, including the strategies involving SDT alone, SDT-based synergistic induction of antitumor immunity, and immunotherapy based on SDT for multimodal immunotherapy. Finally, the prospects and challenges of these SDT-based therapies in cancer immunotherapy are discussed.

The paper constructs an evaluation index system of China’s digital economy and rural revitalization development, including 46 indicators of digital economy and rural revitalization subsystem, and analyzes the impact of China’s digital economy on rural revitalization by combining spatial Markov analysis method and spatial econometric model, and finds that:① The spatial heterogeneity of rural revitalization pattern is obvious, and the difference between north and south is more prominent, and the spatial clustering characteristic of rural revitalization pattern The spatial clustering characteristics are obvious, and the degree of clustering decreases with the increase of the spatial distance threshold. ② Digital economic development can significantly promote the level of rural revitalization in the region, and this finding is found to be robust by introducing the exogenous policy shock test of the Outline of Digital Rural Development Strategy, and digital economic development has a significant spatial siphon effect and can influence the level of rural revitalization in neighboring regions. Considering spatial heterogeneity, the regression results based on the multi-distance economic circle show that the siphoning effect of digital economy on rural revitalization in other regions peaks at 700 km ③Main contribution: It reveals that implementing a differentiated digital economy development strategy and enhancing the radiation of polarized regions are important for reducing regional differences in digital economy and rural revitalization to realize the coordinated development of China’s digital countryside.

Bacteria-driven biohybrid microbots have shown great potential in cancer treatment. However, how precisely controlling drug release at the tumor site is still an issue. To overcome the limitation of this system, we proposed the ultrasound-responsive SonoBacteriaBot (DOX-PFP-PLGA@EcM). Doxorubicin (DOX) and perfluoro-n-pentane (PFP) were encapsulated in polylactic acid-glycolic acid (PLGA) to form ultrasound-responsive DOX-PFP-PLGA nanodroplets. Then, DOX-PFP-PLGA@EcM is created by DOX-PFP-PLGA amide-bonded to the surface of E. coli MG1655 (EcM). The DOX-PFP-PLGA@EcM was proved to have the characteristics of high tumor-targeting efficiency, controlled drug release capability, and ultrasound imaging. Based on the acoustic phase change function of nanodroplets, DOX-PFP-PLGA@EcM enhance the signal of US imaging after ultrasound irradiation. Meanwhile, the DOX loaded into DOX-PFP-PLGA@EcM can be released. After being intravenously injected, DOX-PFP-PLGA@EcM can efficiently accumulate in tumors without causing harm to critical organs. In conclusion, the SonoBacteriaBot has significant benefits in real-time monitoring and controlled drug release, which has significant potential applications for therapeutic drug delivery in clinical settings.

Abstract A safe and effective vaccine for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is urgently needed to tackle the COVID-19 global pandemic. Here, we describe the development of chimpanzee adenovirus serotypes 6 and 68 (AdC6 and AdC68) vector-based vaccine candidates expressing the full-length transmembrane spike glycoprotein. We assessed the vaccine immunogenicity, protective efficacy, and immune cell profiles using single-cell RNA sequencing in mice. Mice were vaccinated via the intramuscular route with the two vaccine candidates using prime-only regimens or heterologous prime-boost regimens. Both chimpanzee adenovirus-based vaccines elicited strong and long-term antibody and T cell responses, balanced Th1/Th2 cell responses, robust germinal center responses, and provided effective protection against SARS-CoV-2 infection in mouse lungs. Strikingly, we found that heterologous prime-boost immunization induced higher titers of protective antibodies, and more spike-specific memory CD8+ T cells in mice. Potent neutralizing antibodies produced against the highly transmissible SARS-CoV-2 variants B.1.1.7 lineage (also known as N501Y.V1) and B.1.351 lineage (also known as N501Y.V2) were detectable in mouse sera over 6 months after prime immunization. Our results demonstrate that the heterologous prime-boost strategy with chimpanzee adenovirus-based vaccines is promising for further development to prevent SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Neurological diseases associated with dysfunctions of neural circuits, including Alzheimer’s disease (AD), depression and epilepsy, have been increasingly prevalent. To tackle these issues, artificial stimulation or regulation of specific neural circuits and nuclei are employed to alleviate or cure certain neurological diseases. In particular, ultrasound neuromodulation has been an emerging interdisciplinary approach, which integrates medicine and engineering methodologies in the treatment. With the development of medicine and engineering, ultrasound neuromodulation has gradually been applied in the treatment of central nervous system diseases. In this review, we aimed to summarize the mechanism of ultrasound neuromodulation and the advances of focused ultrasound (FUS) in neuromodulation in recent years, with a special emphasis on its application in central nervous system disease treatment. FUS showed great feasibility in the treatment of epilepsy, tremor, AD, depression, and brain trauma. We also suggested future directions of ultrasound neuromodulation in clinical settings, with a focus on its fusion with genetic engineering or nanotechnology.

Glioma with very short medium survival time consists of 80% of primary malignant types of brain tumors. The unique microenvironment such as the existence of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) makes the glioma theranostics exhibit low sensitivity in diagnosis, a poor prognosis and low treatment efficacy. Therefore, the development of multifunctional nanoplatform that can cross BBB and target the glioma is essential for the high-sensitivity detection and ablation of cancer cells. In this study, C6 cell membrane-coated conjugated polymer dots (Pdots-C6) were constructed for targeted glioma tumor detection. As a new kind of biomimetic and biocompatible nanoprobes, Pdots-C6 preserve the complex biological functions of natural cell membranes while possessing physicochemical properties for NIR-II fluorescence imaging of glioma. After encapsulating C6 cell membrane on the surface of conjugated Pdots, Pdots-C6 exhibited the most favorable specific targeting capabilities in vitro and in vivo. In particular, this pilot study demonstrates that biomimetic nanoparticles offer a potential tool to enhance specific targeting to the brain, hence improving glioma tumor detection accuracy.

Abstract Background X‐linked cone‐rod dystrophy (CORDX) is one form of inherited retinal disorders (IRDs) characterized by progressive dysfunction of photoreceptor. Three types of CORDX were reported and CACNA1F gene defect can cause CORDX3. The aim of this study was to investigate the pathogenic variant in a Chinese family with IRD. Methods The two affected subjects including the proband and his elder sister underwent ophthalmic examinations. Whole exome sequencing (WES) was performed in the proband at first, then co‐segregation analysis was performed in the family by Sanger sequencing. Minigene approach was used to verify the effect of the mutation on the splicing of CACNA1F. X‐chromosomal inactivation assay was performed to evaluate the inactivation patterns of the female carriers. Results The ophthalmic examination results of the proband fit the clinical description of CORDX3, and the female patient presented with only mild symptoms due to mildly skewed X‐chromosomal inactivation (ratio 67: 33). Molecular genetic testing identified a novel splice‐site mutation c.3847‐2A > G in CACNA1F (NM_005183.4) gene in the patients, which inherited from their asymptomatic mother. Minigene approach confirmed that c.3847‐2A > G could affect the splicing of CACNA1F. Conclusion Our study identified a novel splice‐site mutation in the CACNA1F gene, which expanded the mutational spectrum of CACNA1F‐releated diseases and demonstrated the importance of combining clinical and genetic testing in the diagnosis of IRDs.
