We construct a noncommutative (NC) AdS$_4$-charged black hole with a planar horizon topology. The NC effects of this geometry are captured by a Gaussian distribution of black hole mass codified in a dust-like energy-momentum tensor. A natural bound in radial coordinate is established, below which the scalar curvature changes its sign and defines a NC cutoff that embeds the point singularity. We study in detail the thermodynamic structure of this scenario, finding a well-defined black hole mass and an analytic criterion for its stability. Focusing on the AdS$_{2}$ structure near the horizon, we find a novel effective curvature radius with dependency on the NC cutoff. These results motivate us to explore the holographic superconducting system in terms of the nearness from the cutoff. The behavior of the magnetic field in the deep IR geometry is studied and we found semi-analytical novel expressions for the upper critical magnetic fields of a dual type-II superconductor in the canonical and grand canonical ensembles. The condensation in the form of hair is studied in terms of the bound states of the associated Schr\"odinger potential of the scalar field, interpreted as the dual to the density of Cooper pairs. The NC effects increase the hair formation due to a steeper AdS$_2$ throat comparable to the commutative case. Finally, we obtain the effective IR scalar field equation on the near horizon and near extremal NC Schwarzschild AdS$_2$ geometry and confirm that NC effects promote bound states that the commutative version forbids., Comment: 28 pages, 12 figures

We study a degree-biased cutting process on random recursive trees, where vertices are deleted with probability proportional to their degree. We verify the splitting property and explicitly obtain the distribution of the number of vertices deleted by each cut. This allows us to obtain a recursive formula for Kn, the number of cuts needed to destroy a random recursive tree of size n. Furthermore, we show that Kn is stochastically dominated by Jn, the number of jumps made by a certain random walk with a barrier. We obtain a convergence in distribution of Jn to a Cauchy random variable. We also explore the relationship of this cutting procedure to a coalescing process and show that the coalescing rate cannot correspond to a {\Lambda}-coalescent since it fails consistency conditions., Comment: 15 pages

In the context of the holographic correspondence, we introduce a purely extrinsic renormalization prescription, exemplified with the case of a minimally-coupled scalar field in AdS space. The counterterms depend only on the field and its radial derivatives. This would seem to conflict with the Dirichlet variational principle, but we show that consistency follows from the fact that the asymptotic structure of asymptotically locally AdS spacetimes requires not only the leading, but also all of the subleading non-normalizable modes to be fixed as a boundary condition. Crucially, as seen from a path integral definition of the bulk partition function involved in the standard GKPW formula, this condition is valid away from the saddle. The effective integration of generative artificial intelligence in education is a fundamental aspect to prepare future generations. The objective of this study is to analyze from a quantitative and qualitative point of view the perception of controlled student-IA interaction within the classroom. This analysis includes assessing the ethical implications and everyday use of AI tools, as well as understanding whether AI tools encourage students to pursue STEM careers. We propose a method for cutting down a random recursive tree that focuses on its higher degree vertices. Enumerate the vertices of a random recursive tree of size $n$ according to a decreasing order of their degrees; namely, let $(v^{(i)})_{i=1}^{n}$ be so that $deg(v^{(1)}) \geq \cdots \geq deg (v^{(n)})$. The targeted, vertex-cutting process is performed by sequentially removing vertices $v^{(1)}$, $v^{(2)}, \ldots, v^{(n)}$ and keeping only the subtree containing the root after each removal. The algorithm ends when the root is picked to be removed. The total number of steps for this procedure, $X_n^{targ}$, is upper bounded by $Z_{\geq D}$, which denotes the number of vertices that have degree at least as large as the degree of the root. We obtain that the first order growth of $X_n^{targ}$ is upper bounded by $n^{1-\ln 2}$, which is substantially smaller than the required number of removals if, instead, the vertices where selected uniformly at random. More precisely, we prove that $\ln(Z_{\geq D})$ grows as $\ln(n)$ asymptotically and obtain its limiting behavior in probability. In this short communication we show that basic tools from Malliavin calculus can be applied to derive the two-point function of the slope of the one-dimensional KPZ equation, starting from an arbitrary two-sided Brownian motion, in terms of the polymer end-point annealed distribution associated to the stochastic heat equation. We propose a new hybrid system for automatically generating and training quantum-inspired classifiers on grayscale images by using multiobjective genetic algorithms. We define a dynamic fitness function to obtain the smallest possible circuit and highest accuracy on unseen data, ensuring that the proposed technique is generalizable and robust. We minimize the complexity of the generated circuits in terms of the number of entanglement gates by penalizing their appearance. We reduce the size of the images with two dimensionality reduction approaches: principal component analysis (PCA), which is encoded in the individual for optimization purpose, and a small convolutional autoencoder (CAE). These two methods are compared with one another and with a classical nonlinear approach to understand their behaviors and to ensure that the classification ability is due to the quantum circuit and not the preprocessing technique used for dimensionality reduction., Comment: Submitted for review on the 7th of June 2022

We incorporate the Seiberg-Witten map of noncommutative theory in the classical London theory of type-I superconductivity when an external magnetic field is applied. After defining the noncommutative Maxwell potentials, we derive the London equation for the supercurrent as a function of the noncommutative parameter, up to second order in gauge fields expansion. Keeping track of the effects of noncommutative gauge fields, we argue that noncommutative magnetic field effects can be cast in the permeability of the superconductor as an emergent property of the material, measurable in possible not-so-far ultra-high-energy experimental setups. Another consequence of the Seiberg-Witten map is the London penetration length that acquires corrections in the expansion. Also, we show that the flux quantization remains consistent relative to the commutative case. Multiple reflections between transducer and imaged object can naturally occur in ultrasound imaging and other acoustic sensing applications such as sonar. The repeated interaction of the emitted wavefront with the imaged object is traditionally regarded an undesired reverberation artifact, often misinterpreted as fictitious acoustic boundaries. Here we introduce high order reflection pulse-echo (HOPE)-ultrasound, a novel method that leverages high order reflections to improve on several aspects of conventional ultrasound imaging. HOPE is experimentally demonstrated to resolve sub-micrometer features by breaking through the Nyquist resolution limit. The major contrast enhancement of the high reflection orders allowed to reveal defects within materials invisible to conventional scanning acoustic microscopy. The technique is further shown to improve accuracy of frequency-dependent ultrasound attenuation measurements from biological tissues. HOPE ultrasound requires no additional hardware and is easy to implement, underscoring its potential to boost imaging performance in a broad range of biomedical imaging, nondestructive testing, and other acoustic sensing applications., Comment: 18 pages, 5 figures

We propose a new technique for the automatic generation of optimal ad-hoc ans\"atze for classification by using quantum support vector machine (QSVM). This efficient method is based on NSGA-II multiobjective genetic algorithms which allow both maximize the accuracy and minimize the ansatz size. It is demonstrated the validity of the technique by a practical example with a non-linear dataset, interpreting the resulting circuit and its outputs. We also show other application fields of the technique that reinforce the validity of the method, and a comparison with classical classifiers in order to understand the advantages of using quantum machine learning.

Many studies have shown that there are regularities in the way human beings make decisions. However, our ability to obtain models that capture such regularities and can accurately predict unobserved decisions is still limited. We tackle this problem in the context of individuals who are given information relative to the evolution of market prices and asked to guess the direction of the market. We use a networks inference approach with stochastic block models (SBM) to find the model and network representation that is most predictive of unobserved decisions. Our results suggest that users mostly use recent information (about the market and about their previous decisions) to guess. Furthermore, the analysis of SBM groups reveals a set of strategies used by players to process information and make decisions that is analogous to behaviors observed in other contexts. Our study provides and example on how to quantitatively explore human behavior strategies by representing decisions as networks and using rigorous inference and model-selection approaches.

Since their inception, learning techniques under the Reservoir Computing paradigm have shown a great modeling capability for recurrent systems without the computing overheads required for other approaches. Among them, different flavors of echo state networks have attracted many stares through time, mainly due to the simplicity and computational efficiency of their learning algorithm. However, these advantages do not compensate for the fact that echo state networks remain as black-box models whose decisions cannot be easily explained to the general audience. This work addresses this issue by conducting an explainability study of Echo State Networks when applied to learning tasks with time series, image and video data. Specifically, the study proposes three different techniques capable of eliciting understandable information about the knowledge grasped by these recurrent models, namely, potential memory, temporal patterns and pixel absence effect. Potential memory addresses questions related to the effect of the reservoir size in the capability of the model to store temporal information, whereas temporal patterns unveils the recurrent relationships captured by the model over time. Finally, pixel absence effect attempts at evaluating the effect of the absence of a given pixel when the echo state network model is used for image and video classification. We showcase the benefits of our proposed suite of techniques over three different domains of applicability: time series modeling, image and, for the first time in the related literature, video classification. We present a directed variant of Salop (1979) model to analyze bus transport dynamics. The players are operators competing in cooperative and non-cooperative games. Utility, like in most bus concession schemes in emerging countries, is proportional to the total fare collection. Competition for picking up passengers leads to well documented and dangerous driving practices that cause road accidents, traffic congestion and pollution. We obtain theoretical results that support the existence and implementation of such practices, and give a qualitative description of how they come to occur. A number of governments and organizations around the world agree that the first step to address national and international problems such as energy independence, global warming or emergency resilience, is the redesign of electricity networks, known as Smart Grids. Typically, power grids have broadcast power from generation plants to large population of consumers on a sub-optimal way. Nevertheless, the fusion of energy delivery networks and digital information networks, along with the introduction of intelligent monitoring systems (Smart Meters) and renewable energies, would enable two-way electricity trading relationships between electricity suppliers and electricity consumers. The availability of real-time information on electricity demand and pricing, would enable suppliers optimizing their delivery systems, while consumers would have the means to minimize their bill by turning on appliances at off-peak hours. The construction of the Smart Grid entails the design and deployment of information networks and systems of unprecedented requirements on storage, real-time event processing and availability. In this paper, a series of system architectures to store and process Smart Meter reading data are explored and compared aiming to establish a solid foundation in which future intelligent systems could be supported.

Advancing our understanding of human behavior hinges on the ability of theories to unveil the mechanisms underlying such behaviors. Measuring the ability of theories and models to predict unobserved behaviors provides a principled method to evaluate their merit and, thus, to help establish which mechanisms are most plausible. Here, we propose models and develop rigorous inference approaches to predict strategic decisions in dyadic social dilemmas. In particular, we use bipartite stochastic block models that incorporate information about the dilemmas faced by individuals. We show, combining these models with empirical data on strategic decisions in dyadic social dilemmas, that individual strategic decisions are to a large extent predictable, despite not being "rational." The analysis of these models also allows us to conclude that: (i) individuals do not perceive games according their game-theoretical structure; (ii) individuals make decisions using combinations of multiple simple strategies, which our approach reveals naturally.

Colombia has a diversity of genres in traditional music, which allows to express the richness of the Colombian culture according to the region. This musical diversity is the result of a mixture of African, native Indigenous, and European influences. Organizing large collections of songs is a time consuming task that requires that a human listens to fragments of audio to identify genre, singer, year, instruments and other relevant characteristics that allow to index the song dataset. This paper presents a method to automatically identify the genre of a Colombian song by means of its audio content. The method extracts audio features that are used to train a machine learning model that learns to classify the genre. The method was evaluated in a dataset of 180 musical pieces belonging to six folkloric Colombian music genres: Bambuco, Carranga, Cumbia, Joropo, Pasillo, and Vallenato. Results show that it is possible to automatically identify the music genre in spite of the complexity of Colombian rhythms reaching an average accuracy of 69\%.

In the last years, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has achieved a notable momentum that may deliver the best of expectations over many application sectors across the field. For this to occur, the entire community stands in front of the barrier of explainability, an inherent problem of AI techniques brought by sub-symbolism (e.g. ensembles or Deep Neural Networks) that were not present in the last hype of AI. Paradigms underlying this problem fall within the so-called eXplainable AI (XAI) field, which is acknowledged as a crucial feature for the practical deployment of AI models. This overview examines the existing literature in the field of XAI, including a prospect toward what is yet to be reached. We summarize previous efforts to define explainability in Machine Learning, establishing a novel definition that covers prior conceptual propositions with a major focus on the audience for which explainability is sought. We then propose and discuss about a taxonomy of recent contributions related to the explainability of different Machine Learning models, including those aimed at Deep Learning methods for which a second taxonomy is built. This literature analysis serves as the background for a series of challenges faced by XAI, such as the crossroads between data fusion and explainability. Our prospects lead toward the concept of Responsible Artificial Intelligence, namely, a methodology for the large-scale implementation of AI methods in real organizations with fairness, model explainability and accountability at its core. Using a noncommutative inspired anti-de Sitter-Einstein-Born-Infeld black hole with both non-commutative mass and charge distributions, we analyse a holographic superconductor in the context of the AdS/CFT correspondence. We show that the coupling of the Born-Infeld parameter and the noncommutative perturbations provides an enhancing mechanism for higher values of the expectation value of the condensate and that noncommutativity counter-balances nonlinearity of the electrodynamics to keep the ratio $\omega_g/T_c \approx 8$., Comment: 12 pages, 9 figures

During lunar eclipse of January 21, 2019 a meteoroid impacted the Moon producing a visible light flash. The impact was witnessed by casual observers offering an opportunity to study the phenomenon from multiple geographical locations. We use images and videos collected by observers in 7 countries to estimate the location, impact parameters (speed and incoming direction) and energy of the meteoroid. Using parallax, we achieve determining the impact location at lat. $-29.43^{+0.30}_{-0.21}$, lon. $-67.89^{+0.07}_{-0.09}$ and geocentric distance as 356553 km. After devising and applying a photo-metric procedure for measuring flash standard magnitudes in multiple RGB images having different exposure times, we found that the flash, had an average G-magnitude $\langle G\rangle = 6.7\pm0.3$. We use gravitational ray tracing (GRT) to estimate the orbital properties and likely radiant of the impactor. We find that the meteoroid impacted the moon with a speed of $14^{+7}_{-6}$ km/s (70% C.L.) and at a shallow angle, $\theta < 38.2$ degrees. Assuming a normal error for our estimated flash brightness, educated priors for the luminous efficiency and object density, and using the GRT-computed probability distributions of impact speed and incoming directions, we calculate posterior probability distributions for the kinetic energy (median $K_{\rm med}$ = 0.8 kton), body mass ($M_{\rm med}$ = 27 kg) and diameter ($d_{\rm med}$ = 29 cm), and crater size ($D_{\rm med}$ = 9 m). If our assumptions are correct, the crater left by the impact could be detectable by prospecting lunar probes. We consider a system of N queues with decentralized load balancing such as power-of-D strategies(where D may depend on N) and generic scheduling disciplines. To measure the dependence of the queues, we use the clan of ancestors, a technique coming from interacting particle systems. Relying in that analysis we prove quantitative estimates on the queues correlations implying propagation of chaos for systems with Markovian arrivals and general service time distribution. This solves the conjecture posed by Bramsom et. al. in [*] concerning the asymptotic independence of the servers in the case of processor sharing policy. We then proceed to prove asymptotic insensitivity in the stationary regime for a wide class of scheduling disciplines and obtain speed of convergence estimates for light tailed service distribution. Consider a sequence of n bi-infinite and stationary Brownian queues in tandem. Assume that the arrival process entering in the first queue is a zero mean ergodic process. We prove that the departure process from the n-th queue converges in distribution to a Brownian motion as n goes to infinity. In particular this implies that the Brownian motion is an attractive invariant measure for the Brownian queueing operator. Our proof exploits the relationship between the Brownian queues in tandem and the last-passage Brownian percolation model, developing a coupling technique in the second setting. The result is also interpreted in the related context of Brownian particles acting under one sided reflection.

This paper explains how to build an intelligent irrigation system using Arduino (a micro- controller) and many devices (humidity, temperature, pressure and water flow sensors). Our irrigation system combines a precise method to determine water balance of soils with an automatic response to water content oscillations. We develop the realistic minimal electronic model for recently discovered BiS$_2$ superconductors including the spin-orbit coupling based on a first-principles band structure calculations. Due to strong spin-orbit coupling, characteristic for the Bi-based systems, the tight-binding low-energy model necessarily includes $p_x$, $p_y$, and $p_z$ orbitals. We analyze a potential Cooper-pairing instability from purely repulsive interaction for the moderate electronic correlations using the so-called leading angular harmonics approximation (LAHA). For small and intermediate doping concentrations we find the dominant instabilities to be $d_{x^2-y^2}$-wave, and $s_{\pm}$-wave symmetries, respectively. At the same time, in the absence of the sizable spin fluctuations the intra and interband Coulomb repulsion are of the same strength, which yields the strongly anisotropic behaviour of the superconducting gaps on the Fermi surface in agreement with recent ARPES findings. In addition, we find that the Fermi surface topology for BiS$_2$ layered systems at large electron doping can resembles the doped iron-based pnictide superconductors with electron and hole Fermi surfaces with sufficient nesting between them. The aim of this article is to study the forest composed by point-to-line geodesics in the last-passage percolation model with exponential weights. We will show that the location of the root can be described in terms of the maxima of a random walk, whose distribution will depend on the geometry of the substrate (line). In this work we measured Surface Energy and Freezing Temperature of supercooled water droplets in air. We find that freezing of water droplets is triggered at the water-air interface and that freezing progresses faster on the surface than in the bulk. The Freezing Point of water droplets is strongly depressed by dryness in air and how humidity triggers freezing. We deal with a small enough tumor section to consider it homogeneous, such that populations of lymphocytes and cancer cells are independent of spatial coordinates. A stochastic model based in one step processes is developed to take into account natural birth and death rates. Other rates are also introduced to consider medical treatment: natural birth rate of lymphocytes and cancer cells; induced death rate of cancer cells due to self-competition, and other ones caused by the activated lymphocytes acting on cancer cells. Additionally, a death rate of cancer cells due to induced apoptosis is considered. Weakness due to the advance of sickness is considered by introducing a lymphocytes death rate proportional to proliferation of cancer cells. Simulation is developed considering different combinations of the parameters and its values, so that several strategies are taken into account to study the effect of anti-angiogenic drugs as well the self-competition between cancer cells. Immune response, with the presence of a kind of specialized lymphocytes, is introduced such that they appear once cancer cells are detected. Induced apoptosis of cancer cells is introduced to model the action of several drugs under development right now.
