Aging related diseases seriously affect the health of the elderly. Studies on the roles and mechanisms of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in aging related diseases have attracted more and more attention. Besides, a number of relative clinical trials have been carried out in the domestic and overseas. This review summarizes the roles, molecular mechanisms, clinical trials of MSCs and MSCs-derived exosomes in several typical age-related diseases such as osteoporosis, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, type 2 diabetes, atherosclerosis, chronic obstruc-tive pulmonary disease and tumor. This review may provide some theoretical reference and advices for future studies of MSCs in aging related diseases.

Chlorellacean members are common in aquatic or subaerial habitats, and many of them have significant economic value. Taxonomic reports and organelle genome data for the Nannochloris clade, an important subgroup within this family, are limited, hindering the understanding and exploitation of this clade. In this study, a fusiform-celled strain, FACHB-3607, was isolated from a pond in China. Through examination of morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analyses of rbcL, 18S rDNA, and ITS, it was identified as a new species within the Nannochloris clade, named Koliella bifissiva sp. nov. In addition, this study provided a first insight into the organellar genomes of the genus Koliella. The K. bifissiva chloroplast had a 99.8 kb genome, and the mitochondrion had a 40.8 kb genome, which are moderate sizes within the Nannochloris clade. Phylogenomic analysis showed that K. bifissiva is most closely related to Nannochloris sp. "desiccata", followed by Marvania. In contrast, Picochlorum was the most distantly related species. The organelle genomes of the Nannochloris clade display dynamic evolution, reflected in variations in genome size, gene content and order, and selection pressure. Commercial scale decarbonization through carbon capture and storage may likely involve many CO2 storage projects located in close proximity. The close proximity could raise concerns over caprock integrity associated with reservoir pressure buildup and interference among adjacent projects. Commercial-scale injection will also require large prospective CO2 storage resource and high injectivity in the targeted storage formations. To accommodate the need for both large resource and high injectivity, project operators could consider injecting CO2 into a stacked sequence of formations. This analysis investigates the benefits of injecting CO2 into a vertically stacked sequence of saline formations, over injecting the same amount of CO2 into a single saline formation, in addressing these challenges. Our analysis shows that injecting into the stacked sequence mitigates the extent of pressure buildup among the stacked formations, while still achieving the same or greater target CO2 storage volumes. Among cases modeled, the resulting pressure buildup front is most reduced when each storage site distributes injection volumes over several wells, each of which injects a portion of the total CO2 mass across the stacked sequence. This favorable case not only results in the smallest CO2 aerial footprint, but also shows the largest reduction in the pressure buildup at the top of perforation at the injection wells (upwards of approximately 46% compared to the single-formation storage), the result of which is crucial to maintain caprock integrity. BackgroundWith the rapid increase in the incidence and mortality of lung cancer, a growing number of lung cancer patients and their families are faced with a tremendous economic burden because of the high cost of treatment in China. This study was conducted to estimate the economic burden and patient responsibility of lung cancer patients and the impact of this burden on family income.MethodsThis study uses data from a retrospective questionnaire survey conducted in 10 communities in urban China and includes 195 surviving lung cancer patients diagnosed over the previous five years. The calculation of direct economic burden included both direct medical and direct nonmedical costs. Indirect costs were calculated using the human capital approach, which measures the productivity lost for both patients and family caregivers. The price index was applied for the cost calculation.ResultsThe average economic burden from lung cancer was $43,336 per patient, of which the direct cost per capita was $42,540 (98.16%) and the indirect cost per capita was $795 (1.84%). Of the total direct medical costs, 35.66% was paid by the insurer and 9.84% was not covered by insurance. The economic burden for diagnosed lung cancer patients in the first year following diagnosis was $30,277 per capita, which accounted for 171% of the household annual income, a percentage that fell to 107% after subtracting the compensation from medical insurance.ConclusionsThe economic burden for lung cancer patients is substantial in the urban areas of China, and an effective control strategy to lower the cost is urgently needed.

Cephaleuros species are well-known as plant pathogens that cause red rust or algae spot diseases in many economically cultivated plants that grow in shady and humid environments. Despite their prevalence, the adaptive evolution of these pathogens remains poorly understood. We sequenced and characterized three Cephaleuros (Cephaleuros lagerheimii, Cephaleuros diffusus, and Cephaleuros virescens) chloroplast genomes, and compared them with seven previously reported chloroplast genomes. The chloroplast sequences of C. lagerheimii, C. diffusus, and C. virescens were 480,613 bp, 383,846 bp, and 472,444 bp in length, respectively. These chloroplast genomes encoded 94 genes, including 27 tRNA genes, 3 rRNA genes, and 64 protein-coding genes. Comparative analysis uncovered that the variation in genome size was principally due to the length of intergenic spacer sequences, followed by introns. Furthermore, several highly variable regions (trnY-GTA, trnL-TAG, petA, psbT, trnD-GTC, trnL-TAA, ccsA, petG, psaA, psaB, rps11, rps2, and rps14) were identified. Codon bias analysis revealed that the codon usage pattern of Cephaleuros is predominantly shaped by natural selection. Additionally, six chloroplast protein-coding genes (atpF, chlN, psaA, psaB, psbA, and rbcL) were determined to be under positive selection, suggesting they may play a vital roles in the adaptation of Cephaleuros to low-light intensity habitats. Objective To survey the current status and analyze the influencing mechanism of job burnout in clinicians. Methods We distributed Doctor-patient Relationship Scale, Doctor's Professional Identity Scale and Maslach Burnout Inventory-General Survey (MBI-GS) to 550 clinicians in 3 general hospitals in Chongqing, and received 529 valid responses. Structural equation modeling was used to analyze the relationship between the variables. Results Gender, age, departments, and working hours per week were all significantly associated with emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and low sense of achievement among the clinicians (P < 0.05). The doctor-patient relationship from the perspective of clinicians had a significant negative correlation with the dimension scores (emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and low sense of achievement) of job burnout; professional recognition was negatively correlated with job burnout in all dimensions and positively with the doctor-patient relationship from the clinicians' perspective. Professional recognition was a mediator of doctor-patient relationship and low sense of achievement, which was also verified by the test of complete mediator effect. The indirect effect of professional recognition as a complete intermediary variable was -0.12 on low sense of achievement (RMSEA=0.08, NFI=0.92, CFI=0.94, χ2/df=4.37). Conclusion Professional recognition is a partial intermediary variable between doctor-patient relationship, emotional exhaustion and depersonalization, and is a complete mediator variable between doctor-patient relationship and low sense of achievement among the clinicians. The doctor-patient relationship is the fundamental source of low professional recognition and low sense of achievement.

In recent years, the search for anti-tumor drugs with high efficiency, low toxicity and little side effects in marine organisms has attracted the attention of scholars. C-phycocyanin (C-PC) has toxic and side effects on a variety of tumor cells, which can inhibit the growth of tumor cells and promote the apoptosis of tumor cells. Phycocyanin combined with other drugs can improve its anti-tumor activity. This review discusses the therapeutic use of phycocyanin and focuses on the latest advances of phycocyanin as a promising natural anti-cancer drug.

Phytoplankton are the main primary producers in aquatic ecosystems and play an important role in food web and geochemical cycles. Its diversity, community structure, and assembly process are influenced by several factors. Alpine lake ecosystems are relatively weak and extremely sensitive to global climate change. However, the impact of climate change on phytoplankton in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau lakes and their responses are still unclear. In this study, we analyzed the diversity, environmental drivers, and assembly process of phytoplankton community in the central QTP lakes. The phytoplankton of these lakes can be primarily distinguished into freshwater and brackish types, with significant differences in species diversity and community dissimilarity. Both shared nearly same key environmental factors that significantly affecting phytoplankton such as EC, and brackish lakes were also positively correlative with TN. Stochastic process was predominant in phytoplankton assembly. Additionally, freshwater and brackish lakes were dominated by dispersal limitation and heterogeneous selection respectively. Alpine lakes had significant EC thresholds, and their diversity and assembly processes changed significantly around the thresholds. The present findings have important implications for understanding and predicting the response of lake phytoplankton communities to climate change and for making decisions to protect the ecological resources of alpine lakes. Background: The cloud-penetrating and fog-penetrating capability of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) give it the potential for application in forest fire progress monitoring; however, the low extraction accuracy and significant salt-and-pepper noise in SAR remote sensing mapping of the burned area are problems. Aims: This paper provides a method for accurately extracting the burned area based on fully exploiting the changes in multiple different dimensional feature parameters of dual-polarised SAR images before and after a fire. Methods: This paper describes forest fire progress monitoring using dual-polarisation SAR images combined with multi-scale segmentation and unsupervised classification. We first constructed polarisation feature and texture feature datasets using multi-scene Sentinel-1 images. A multi-scale segmentation algorithm was then used to generate objects to suppress the salt-and-pepper noise, followed by an unsupervised classification method to extract the burned area. Key results: The accuracy of burned area extraction in this paper is 91.67%, an improvement of 33.70% compared to the pixel-based classification results. Conclusions: Compared with the pixel-based method, our method effectively suppresses the salt-and-pepper noise and improves the SAR burned area extraction accuracy. Implications: The fire monitoring method using SAR images provides a reference for extracting the burned area under continuous cloud or smoke cover.
