Abstract

The Degree of Linear Polarization (DoLP) is a key dimension of information in polarization imaging. The quality of polarization images is greatly affected by imaging equipment and environmental factors. Therefore, an enhancement method for the DoLP image is proposed in this paper. First, a super-resolution reconstruction algorithm based on the Detail Enhancement Guided Image Filter is proposed to solve the problem of mosaicization and pseudo-polarization information caused by the degradation of spatial resolution and super-resolution reconstruction of DoFP imaging. Second, for the problem of rapid degradation of polarization image quality caused by hazy environment, a DoLP enhancement algorithm based on multi-channel difference Signal-to-Noise Ratio is proposed to improve the visual effect of polarization images in different scenes with hazy environment. The method proposed in this paper implements super-resolution reconstruction, demosaicing, pseudo-polarization information removal, and adaptive enhancement of DoLP images in DoFP systems. 26. Microplastic Pollution and Its Potential Correlation with Environmental Factors in Daya Bay, South China Sea.

Abstract

Microplastics (MPs) have been given considerable attention due to their risk to aquatic organisms in marine environments. In this study, MPs' abundance and their potential correlation with environmental factors were investigated from 26 sites in Daya Bay, South China Sea. The results showed that the abundance of MPs was 1.8–13.87 items/L in surface water and 190–823 items/kg (dry weight) in sediment. The most abundant shape of MPs in both water and sediment was fiber, the most abundant particle size was 0.5–1 mm and the most abundant color was transparent. In addition, the most common polymer type of MPs was polyethylene terephthalate (PET), followed by rayon (RY), polypropylene (PP), cellulose (CL) and polyethylene (PE). The abundance of MPs in sediment was significantly correlated with sediment organic N and C (p < 0.05), while that in surface water had no significant correlation with the environmental factors except dissolved oxygen (p > 0.05). A factor analysis showed that MPs in sediment might share similar sources with organic N and C, which were mainly from the autochthonous sedimentation of marine organisms, and MPs might sediment jointly with organic matter. In summary, this study reflects on MP pollution and the potential correlation with environmental factors, providing essential data for governmental agencies to formulate microplastic pollution control policies. Abstract

Surface sediment samples were collected from 19 sites throughout Daya Bay, China, to study the concentrations, and spatial distributions of different fractions of phosphorus through sequential extraction methods. Like many coastal and marine areas, De-P was the dominant form of P, contributing 47.5% of TP, followed by O-P, contributing 25.5% of TP. Ex-P and Fe-P contribute the lowest to TP. The concentration of sedimentary TP ranged from 290.3~525.1 &micro, g/g, with the average of 395.3 &micro, g/g, which was a similar range to other estuaries and coastal areas. Based on the spatial distribution, Pearson correlation and Principal component analysis, different fractions of phosphorus showed different spatial distributions due to different sources. The molar ratio of organic carbon to phosphorus (TOC/O-P) ranged from 199 to 609, with the average of 413, which was much higher than the Redfield ratio, suggesting terrestrial sources of organic matter in Daya Bay surface sediment. The average bioavailable phosphorus was 149.6 &micro, g/g and contributed 37.8% (24.6~56.0%) of TP, indicating that the surface sediments of Day Bay act as an important internal source of P.

28. Dietary Lactobacillus plantarumcan alleviate high starch diet-induced liver lipid deposition, tissue damage and oxidative stress in largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides)

Abstract

Excessive carbohydrate content in aquatic feeds often leads to metabolic disorders in the liver of fish. Probiotics provide an effective means to combat dysregulated glycolipid metabolism in animals. In this study, Lactobacillus plantarum(GDMCC 1.140) was added to assess its efficacy as a probiotic for largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides) fed a high-starch diet. Three diets, LS representing a normal starch level group (10%), HS representing a high starch level group (20%), and HSP representing a high starch level group supplemented with L. plantarum, were formulated and used to feed juvenile largemouth bass (initial weight 12.54 ± 0.02 g) for nine weeks. The results indicated that there were no significant differences in growth performance or proximate composition among the groups. Subsequently, compared with those in LS group, the fish in HS group exhibited increased hepatic lipid deposition (hepatosomatic index and hepatic lipid), reduced hepatic antioxidant capacity (malondialdehyde) and aggravated liver tissue damage. However, the addition of L. plantarumto the HSP group alleviated or restored relevant indicators to levels comparable to those in LS group. Intestinal microbiota analysis revealed that the alpha diversity of the HS group was significantly lower than that of LS group, with a lower relative abundance of Romboutsiaand a greater abundance of Achromobacter. Notably, the diversity and composition of the HSP group were similar to those of LS group. Furthermore, the hepatic transcriptome analysis revealed that, in the comparison between HSP and HS groups, differentially expressed genes were enriched in the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor signaling pathway and citrate cycle. In conclusion, the supplementation of L. plantarumin the diet can mitigate liver metabolic disorders in largemouth bass induced by high-starch diets. This research highlights the potential of dietary L. plantarumfor alleviating adverse effects associated with high-starch diets for carnivorous fish.
