HL-3 is a new medium-sized copper conducting tokamak, which is dedicated to the plasma shaping control for plasma high performance and flexible operation, especially the advanced divertor configurations. According to the physics needs of the project, three types of magnetic pickup coils are designed and developed on HL-3 for magnetic field measurements. The coils emphasize different geometry sizes and array layouts. The coils are installed carefully by using high-precision positioning equipment to ensure the measurement accuracy of the system. After calibration, the magnetic field measurements are supplied for real-time equilibrium reconstruction and plasma control, e.g., with snowflake-shaped divertor configuration reconstruction. Mirnov coils satisfy the requirements for physical analysis, including determining the mode number from raw signals and detecting the magnetohydrodynamic instabilities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
In the big data era, traditional data mining technology cannot meet the requirements of massive data processing with the background of intelligent manufacturing. Aiming at insufficient computing power and low efficiency in mining process, this paper proposes a improved K-means clustering algorithm based on the concept of distributed clustering in cloud computing environment. The improved algorithm (T.K-means) is combined with MapReduce computing framework of Hadoop platform to realize parallel computing, so as to perform processing tasks of massive data. In order to verify the practical performance of T.K-means algorithm, taking machining data of milling Ti-6Al-4V alloy as the mining object. The mapping relationship among cutting parameters, surface roughness, and material removal rate is mined, and the optimized value for cutting parameters is obtained. The results show that T.K-means algorithm can be used to mine the optimal cutting parameters, so that the best surface roughness can be obtained in milling Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy., QC 20230206

- Abstract
Generally, off-line methods are used for surface roughness prediction of titanium alloy milling. However, studies show that these methods have poor prediction accuracy. In order to resolve this shortcoming, a prediction method based on Cloudera’s Distribution including Apache Hadoop (CDH) platform is proposed in the present study. In this regard, data analysis and process platform are designed based on the CDH, which can upload, calculate, and store data in real time. Then this platform is combined with the Harris hawk optimization (HHO) algorithm and pattern search strategy, and an improved Harris hawk optimization optimization (IHHO) method is proposed accordingly. Then this method is applied to optimize the support vector machine (SVM) algorithm and predict the surface roughness in the CDH platform. The obtained results show that the prediction accuracy of IHHO method reaches 95%, which is higher than the conventional methods of SVM, BAT-SVM, gray wolf optimizer (GWO-SVM), and whale optimization algorithm (WOA-SVM)., QC 20221017

- Abstract
Ball-end cutters are widely used in industries of dies, molds, and aerospace, which have the problem of poor machined surface quality due to the low cutting speed near the tool-tip. With the increase in the complexity of parts, it will become more and more difficult to avoid the tool-tip participating in the cutting. In this paper, the velocity effect sensitivity of the ball-end cutter is analyzed, and several key positions, including the intersection points of the CWE boundaries, are selected to describe the cutting speed in three dimensions. The relationships between the cutting speed of the critical points and important variables such as the machining inclination angle and the feed direction were investigated. The optimal range of feed direction is obtained when the tool-tip engages in the contact circle. The core aim of the feed direction selection is to make the tool engagement area in a high position by changing the feed direction, to avoid surface damage and improve the quality of the machined surface. Finally, an experimental study was carried out, and the results corroborate the effectiveness of the selection method. In the experiment, it was also found that cutting-out from the cutter contact position can improve the surface quality in the directions of non-optimal range, and the milling force and chips shape will vary with the change of the feed direction., QC 20220523

- Abstract
Due to the poor machinability of Ti6Al4V material, the cutting tool can easily suffer flank wear during the process of high-speed side milling, which reduces the tool life as well as the surface integrity of workpiece. Further, an effective method for predicting the flank wear of end mill during side milling of Ti6Al4V is lacking in the existing literature, which makes it difficult to improve the productivity of the overall process. To this end, in this study, a flank wear prediction model is constructed based on three main mechanisms: abrasive wear, adhesive wear, and diffusive wear. Subsequently, a normal stress model and temperature field model of wear land on the flank of end mill are established. Finally, these two models are incorporated in the flank wear model to obtain the variation rate of wear land width, which is regarded as a criterion to evaluate the reliability of the proposed flank wear prediction model of side mill. The prediction results are found to be in excellent agreement with the experimental results, which verifies the high prediction accuracy of the proposed model. Overall, this model can serve as a useful theoretical basis for the rational selection of tool geometry and cutting parameters., QC 20220516

- Abstract
With the development of machine tool machining performance and tool cutting performance, thin-walled parts can be machined with high efficiency and precision, leading to their wide use in the aerospace field. The complex structure and low rigidity of thin-walled parts make them easy to deform in the milling process. Therefore, accurate prediction and control of thin-walled parts deformation is an urgent technical problem to be solved in the field of machining. Through classification of thin-walled parts and analysis of the processing technologies, the factors causing the deformation of thin-walled parts are summarized, and the most basic calculation model of milling force is briefly introduced. Research on deformation prediction and control methods of thin-walled parts at home and abroad is reviewed. It is found that deformation of thin-walled parts is predicted by using the elastic-plastic theory and the numerical simulation method, and deformation of thin-walled parts is controlled by process optimization, auxiliary support technology, high-speed cutting technology and numerical control compensation technology. Based on update and iteration of data-driven digital twins, deformation prediction and control of the actual processing of thin-walled parts are realized. The theoretical framework of deformation prediction and control of thin-walled parts processing is built based on digital twins. Development and application prospects of digital twinning deformation prediction and control in thin-walled parts processing are also discussed., QC 20220610

- Abstract
Thin wall parts have the characteristics of weak rigidity, so it is easy to induce chatter in the machining process. At the same time, the deformation of the workpiece is inevitable due to the existence of milling force. The existence of force-induced deformation leads to the change of radial cutting depth, which leads to the change of start angle and exit angle under milling, and finally affects the stability of machining. At the same time, in the process of side milling, the dynamic parameters of thin-walled parts change obviously along the direction of the cutter axis, so the influence of force-induced deformation and multi-point contact should be taken into account in the establishment of the dynamic model. Firstly, the milling force is modeled and the effect of the spiral angle of the milling cutter is considered. Secondly, an iterative extraction method of deformation is proposed. With the help of workbench software, the workpiece deformation caused by milling force at different axial cutting depths is extracted and fitted. Then, the modal analysis of the workpiece is carried out, the modal vibration mode of the workpiece is extracted and fitted. Finally, the tool-part contact zone is discretized along the tool axis, and the vibration modes and the workpiece deformation caused by milling force at each node are calculated, and a multi-point contact dynamic model considering force-induced deformation is established. Finally, taking titanium alloy (Ti6Al4V) as the research object, the experimental verification is carried out, and compared with the multi-point contact dynamic model without considering force-induced deformation, which proves the superiority of the model proposed in this paper., QC 20230614

- Abstract
Titanium alloy Ti6Al4V is a typical aerospace difficult-to-machine material. In the milling process, the wear of cemented carbide tools will reduce the stability of the machining process, thereby affecting the machining efficiency and the surface quality of the machined surface. The tool rake face wear will lead to the decrease of tool edge strength, and affect the flow direction and fracture of chip. The wear mechanism of rake face is analyzed and the prediction model of wear depth of crater groove is constructed. Firstly, the stress field model of the rake face is constructed by using the analytical method, and the stress distribution and wear location of the rake face of the milling tool during the sliding of the chip on rake face are obtained. Based on the contact relationship between tool and chip, the temperature field model of rake face is established. Then, based on the stress and temperature distribution on the rake face of the tool, a prediction model of the crater wear depth of the milling tool considering the abrasion wear, adhesion wear and diffusion wear is constructed, and the prediction curve of the crater wear is obtained. Combined with the distribution characteristics of the crater wear zone along the cutting edge direction of the milling tool, the wear volume prediction model of the milling tool rake face with time variation is established. Finally, the influence of cutting width on rake face wear is verified by experiments, and the predicted results are in good agreement with the experimental measurements. The results show that with the increase of cutting width, the wear depth and the wear volume of rake face also increase. The results of this study provide a theoretical basis for the design of milling tools and the reasonable selection of cutting parameters for titanium alloy milling., QC 20220826

- Abstract
Solid end mill cutting tools are widely used in machining of curved surface parts in many industrial sectors, e.g., aerospace, automotive, and energy. Grinding is one of the most important processes in the manufacturing of the tools, and the movement of the grinding wheel closely influences the key parameters of helical groove cross-section, i.e., rake angle γo, inner core radius Rc, outer core radius Rcb, and edge width Ew, as well as chip removal capacity. However, a “closed” flute of a tool, which is one style of flute, may cause many problems if grinding it by one-pass, e.g., grinding wheel dressing to adapt to the change of flute parameters. To solve the problem in “closed” flute grinding, this paper proposes a two-pass flute grinding based on the iteration method. Within the context, some parameters and rules are identified in modeling of the two-pass grinding to control grinding wheel width and to smoothen grinding marks between the two passes of grinding. Finally, the method is implemented and validated by a set of numeric simulations and experiments. The results show that the errors of core radius, rake angle, edge width, and big core radius of the two ground tools are 1.1%, 2.0%, 3.4%, and 2.2%, respectively, which are within the designed tolerances., QC 20210304

- Abstract
The TANH material constitutive model accounts for strain softening effect based on the Johnson-Cook (J-C) material constitutive model, which can further reveal the essential properties of the material under the large deformation and high strain rate during the cutting process. In order to verify the accuracy of the method that optimizes the correction coefficient of the TANH material constitutive model, in view of the turning process of the typical difficult-to-machine material Ti6Al4V, based on the TANH material constitutive model, a model for predicting orthogonal cutting forces is established, which considers thermal coupling. The experimental results are in good agreement with the simulation result. In addition, the relationship between the correction coefficient of the TANH material constitutive model and the cutting force is revealed. The input of the force prediction model based on the THAN material constitutive model consist of only the cutting condition, tool geometry parameter and the material's physical parameters. A method for optimizing the selection interval of the correction coefficient of the TANH material constitutive model is proposed. The sensitivity of the cutting force to the correction coefficient in the TANH material constitutive model is analyzed. Then the correction coefficient is optimized and improves the simulation efficiency of cutting force under the premise of ensuring accuracy. The TANH material constitutive model whose correction coefficient is optimized clearly captures the dependence of the strain hardening rate on strain rate. The research results provide theoretical basis for the in-depth study and application of the TANH constitutive model. © 2020 Journal of Mechanical Engineering., QC 20210916

- Abstract
High-speed peripheral milling is a kind of mechanical processing method with wide processing range and high production efficiency. There will be a lot of milling heat during the milling process, especially when the workpiece with low thermal conductivity is processed, the periodic change of milling temperature will accelerate tool wear, and then reduce the workpiece surface processing quality. Due to the lack of research on transient temperature field of rake face of end mills in the research of peripheral milling at present, against the context, a modeling method of transient temperature field of rake face of end mills is proposed based on "moving heat source method" considering the time-varying heat intensity, time-varying heat distribution ratio and rake angle in the second deformation zone. Firstly, transient temperature field of rake face of milling cutter under the influence of the first deformation zone heat source is developed. Then, transient temperature field of rake face of milling cutter under the influence of the second deformation zone heat source is developed. Finally, the temperature rise model superposition calculation is carried out, and then the prediction model of transient temperature field of rake face is modeled. The accuracy of the model is verified by simulation and experiments results, theoretical support be provided for further research on the wear resistance design of rake face of milling cutter., QC 20200918

- Abstract
The milling of titanium alloy thin-walled parts is confronted with the double challenges of hard to machined materials and hard machined structures. Aiming at the problem that the effect of the damping process is significant and difficult to measure in the process of machining titanium thin-walled parts, the mathematical model of the process damping is established. The tangential and radial ploughing force coefficients that characterize the damping of the process are obtained based on the power spectral density matrix and the principle of energy balance. The structural dynamic modification method is used to solve the nonlinear problem of the workpiece characteristics with the material removal and the change of the relative position of the tool and the workpiece. The time delay differential equation which considers the damping effect of the process and the dynamic characteristic of the workpiece is solved by the full-discretization method, and the three-dimensional stability lobe diagram of the milling thin-walled parts is obtained. A series of experiments have been conducted to verify the accuracy of the stability prediction., QC 20181031

- Abstract
The open architecture computer numerical control (OACNC) system meets the individualized demand of modern industry for its characteristics of flexibility, adaptability, versatility, and expansibility. Existing OACNC systems depend on specialized software which reduces the openness of the OACNC system. This paper introduces a new OACNC system based on a soft-integrated communication module. The module improves the data exchange principle in communication shared memory and is built by open API. Therefore the OACNC system can be compatible with different communication protocols between periodic and aperiodic. Then a case is proposed to test the compatibility and extensibility of the system. Finally, the prospect of the OACNC system and future research is discussed., QC 20181031

International audience; Intra-abdominal infections (IAI) are an important cause of morbidity and are frequently associated with poor prognosis, particularly in high-risk patients. The cornerstones in the management of complicated IAIs are timely effective source control with appropriate antimicrobial therapy. Empiric antimicrobial therapy is important in the management of intra-abdominal infections and must be broad enough to cover all likely organisms because inappropriate initial antimicrobial therapy is associated with poor patient outcomes and the development of bacterial resistance. The overuse of antimicrobials is widely accepted as a major driver of some emerging infections (such as C. difficile), the selection of resistant pathogens in individual patients, and for the continued development of antimicrobial resistance globally. The growing emergence of multi-drug resistant organisms and the limited development of new agents available to counteract them have caused an impending crisis with alarming implications, especially with regards to Gram-negative bacteria. An international task force from 79 different countries has joined this project by sharing a document on the rational use of antimicrobials for patients with IAIs. The project has been termed AGORA (Antimicrobials: A Global Alliance for Optimizing their Rational Use in Intra-Abdominal Infections). The authors hope that AGORA, involving many of the world's leading experts, can actively raise awareness in health workers and can improve prescribing behavior in treating IAIs.

- Abstract
The high-efficiency utilization of cutting tool resource is closely related to the flexible decision of tool life criterion, which plays a key role in manufacturing systems. Targeting a flexible method to evaluate tool life, this paper presents a data-driven approach considering all the machining quality requirements, e.g., surface integrity, machining accuracy, machining stability, chip control, and machining efficiency. Within the context, to connect tool life with machining requirements, all patterns of tool wear including flank face wear and rake face wear are fully concerned. In this approach, tool life is evaluated systematically and comprehensively. There is no generalized system architecture currently, and a four-level architecture is therefore proposed. Workpiece, cutting condition, cutting parameter, and cutting tool are the input parameters, which constrain parts of the independent variables of the evaluation objective including first-level and second-level indexes. As a result, tool wears are the remaining independent variables, and they are calculated consequently. Finally, the performed processes of the method are experimentally validated by a case study of turning superalloys with a polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (PCBN) cutting tool., QC 20170818

- Abstract
A novel push-pull modulator based scheme to generate W-band millimeter-wave (mm-wave) vector signal was proposed and experimentally demonstrated. Related to an I/Q modulator, push-pull modulator has the advantages of simple architecture, small insertion loss and low cost. Through combining one 40 GHz upper sideband (USB) using a quadrature-phase-shift-keying (QPSK) modulation with a −40 GHz unmodulated lower sideband (LSB), a QPSK modulated 4 G-Baud 80 GHz single sideband vector mm-wave signal was successfully generated. A physics-based analytical model to assess residual stresses in additive manufacturing made of metallic materials is presented and validated experimentally. The model takes into consideration the typical multi-pass aspect of additive manufacturing. First, the thermal signature of the process is assessed by predicting the temperature for the problem of a moving heat source, then, the thermally induced stresses in a homogenous semi-infinite medium are determined. Taking the thermal stresses as input, the residual stresses are calculated analytically to obtain the distribution across the depth. Good agreement is obtained between the analytical prediction and X-ray measurements made on Selective Laser Melted 316L Stainless Steel. In addition, the analytical approach enables in-depth interpretations of results with basis in the true mechanisms of the process. Thus, the present model appears as a promising tool for optimization of process parameters in additive manufacturing, which in turn will improve the understanding of process parameters and their effect on properties of the final product. PURPOSE: Given the likely proliferation of targeted testing and treatment strategies for cancer, a better understanding of the utilization patterns of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) testing and trastuzumab and newer gene expression profiling (GEP) for risk stratification and chemotherapy decision making are important. STUDY DESIGN: Cross-sectional. METHODS: We performed a medical record review of women age 35 to 65 years diagnosed between 2006 and 2007 with invasive localized breast cancer, identified using claims from a large national health plan (N = 775). RESULTS: Almost all women received HER2 testing (96.9%), and 24.9% of women with an accepted indication received GEP. Unexplained socioeconomic differences in GEP use were apparent after adjusting for age and clinical characteristics; specifically, GEP use increased with income. For example, those in the lowest income category (< $40,000) were less likely than those with an income of $125,000 or more to receive GEP (odds ratio, 0.34; 95% CI, 0.16 to 0.73). A majority of women (57.7%) with HER2-positive disease received trastuzumab; among these women, differences in age and clinical characteristics were not apparent, although surprisingly, those in the lowest income category were more likely than those in the high-income category to receive trastuzumab (P = .02). Among women who did not have a positive HER2 test, 3.9% still received trastuzumab. Receipt of adjuvant chemotherapy increased as GEP score indicated greater risk of recurrence. CONCLUSION: Identifying and eliminating unnecessary variation in the use of these expensive tests and treatments should be part of quality improvement and efficiency programs.

Summary Background Locally advanced or metastatic urothelial carcinoma is generally incurable and has scarce treatment options, especially for cisplatin-ineligible patients previously treated with PD-1 or PD-L1 therapy. Enfortumab vedotin is an antibody–drug conjugate directed at Nectin-4, a protein highly expressed in urothelial carcinoma. We aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of enfortumab vedotin in the post-immunotherapy setting in cisplatin-ineligible patients. Methods EV-201 is a multicentre, single-arm, phase 2 study of enfortumab vedotin in patients with locally advanced or metastatic urothelial carcinoma previously treated with PD-1 or PD-L1 inhibitors. Cohort 2 included adults (aged ≥18 years) with an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status score of 2 or less who were considered ineligible for cisplatin at enrolment and who had not received platinum-containing chemotherapy in the locally advanced or metastatic setting. Enfortumab vedotin was given intravenously at a dose of 1·25 mg/kg on days 1, 8, and 15 of every 28-day cycle. The primary endpoint was confirmed objective response rate per Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumours version 1.1 assessed by blinded independent central review. Efficacy and safety were analysed in all patients who received at least one dose of enfortumab vedotin. EV-201 is an ongoing study and the primary analysis is complete. This study is registered with Clinicaltrials.gov , NCT03219333 . Findings Between Oct 8, 2017, and Feb 11, 2020, 91 patients were enrolled at 40 sites globally, of whom 89 received treatment. Median follow-up was 13·4 months (IQR 11·3–18·9). At data cutoff (Sept 8, 2020), the confirmed objective response rate was 52% (46 of 89 patients; 95% CI 41–62), with 18 (20%) of 89 patients achieving a complete response and 28 (31%) achieving a partial response. 49 (55%) of 89 patients had grade 3 or worse treatment-related adverse events. The most common grade 3 or 4 treatment-related adverse events were neutropenia (eight [9%] patients), maculopapular rash (seven [8%] patients), and fatigue (six [7%] patients). Treatment-related serious adverse events occurred in 15 (17%) patients. Three (3%) patients died due to acute kidney injury, metabolic acidosis, and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (one [1%] each) within 30 days of first dose and these deaths were considered by the investigator to be related to treatment; a fourth death from pneumonitis occurred more than 30 days after the last dose and was also considered to be related to treatment. Interpretation Treatment with enfortumab vedotin was tolerable and confirmed responses were seen in 52% of cisplatin-ineligible patients with locally advanced or metastatic urothelial carcinoma who were previously treated with PD-1 or PD-L1 inhibitors. These patients have few treatment options, and enfortumab vedotin could be a promising new therapy for a patient population with a high unmet need.
