Objective To study the normal reference values of intracranial pressure and cerebral perfusion pressure in children of different ages. Methods A retrospective study was conducted on the children with simple epidural hematoma who received hematoma removal and implantation for intracranial pressure monitoring in our department from January 2015 to June 2022.The intracranial pressure and arterial blood pressure of the children were monitored per hour after surgery, and the changes in intracranial pressure and cerebral perfusion pressure were analyzed based on time and age in different age groups.The intracranial pressure and cerebral perfusion pressure in stable period (72 h after surgery) were used as the relative normal reference values, and the 95% range of intracranial pressure and cerebral perfusion pressure were calculated statistically by percentile method as the reference range. Results A total of 207 children were included in this study, including 25 in the < 2-year-old group, 82 in the 2~6-year-old group and 100 in the >6-year-old group.Intracranial pressure in different age groups was increased rapidly after a short period of low level, while cerebral perfusion pressure experienced a short period of high level, and both reached a peak and a trough from 12 to 24 h after surgery, and gradually reached a stable range at 72 h after surgery.The range of intracranial pressure 72 h after surgery was 3.0~8.0 mmHg for the < 2-year-old group, 5.0~11.0 mmHg for the 2~6-year-old group, and 6.0~14.0 mmHg for the >6-year-old group.Cerebral perfusion pressure range was 50.9~68.7, 55.0~73.3, and 57.3~79.6 mmHg, respectively for the above 3 age groups. Conclusion The normal ranges of intracranial pressure and cerebral perfusion pressure are different in children of different ages, and we suggest increasing with age.

We propose a feature extraction method based on the Kmeans algorithm based on the text characteristics in the English translation corpus. The article first uses a sparse autoencoder unsupervised learning method to reduce dimensionality. It then uses the Kmeans clustering algorithm for text clustering. The experimental results prove that the text features extracted by the sparse autoencoder based on the Kmeans algorithm can be used for English translation corpus knowledge clustering to achieve automatic integration. And this method can effectively solve the problems of high-dimensional, sparse, and noisy texts in the English translation corpus. The algorithm mentioned in the article can significantly improve the accuracy of the clustering results.

Based on the microstructure of biological femur, the femur-like multimodal surface structures are designed. But they exhibit fracture behavior when the porosity changes, resulting in structural failure. The high curvature surface factor is introduced to improve the fracture behavior of the biomimetic surface structure. Combine the high curvature surface factor to construct novel biomimetic homogenized surface structures. Novel radial gradient surface structures and axial gradient surface structures are designed based on the construction concept of cone functions and linear functions gradients. Theoretical, experimental and numerical methods are used to investigate the mechanical properties of novel biomimetic multimodal surface structures. Euler theory states that the properties of lattice structures are determined by the relative density of structures. The load distribution in the radially gradient structure is uniform, and the deformation mode presents overall failure, which can achieve better resistance and dissipation of the load. The deformation modes of axial gradient structures present layered failure. The underlying mechanism of the difference in mechanical properties of biomimetic multimodal structures is explained in detail. It’s very important significance for targeted application in protective engineering.

Objective To systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of immune checkpoint inhibitors in the treatment of advanced gastric cancer or gastroesophageal junction cancer (GC/GEJC). Methods CNKI, Wanfang, PubMed, EMBASE, ClinicalTrials, Cochrane Library and other databases were searched to collect the clinical trials of immune checkpoint inhibitors in the treatment of advanced GC/GEJC. The retrieval time was from the inception to Nov. 2019. Outcome measures mainly included ORR, DCR, PFS, OS and toxicities. The adoption rate difference and hazard ratio were effect measures. Meta-analysis was performed using RevMan 5.3 software. Results We included seven literatures with a total of 1949 patients. Meta-analysis showed that for the patients with advanced GC/GEJC, the second-line or later immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy improved the overall survival rate at 12 and 18 months; the OS of the patients was prolonged, compared with chemotherapy/placebo therapy (all P < 0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions of any grade or ≥grade 3 caused by immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy was lower than that caused by chemotherapy/placebo. Conclusion Immune checkpoint inhibitor treatment could improve survival endpoints in some patients with advanced GC/GEJC, and the incidence of common adverse reactions is low.

Objective To investigate the mechanism of formation of traumatic cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) in children and analyze the clinical manifestations, treatment and prognosis of CVST. Methods We performed a retrospective analysis of 21 children with traumatic CVST treated in our hospital between January 2009 and December 2019. The clinical manifestations, causes of thrombosis, imaging characteristics and the effects of heparin versus non-heparin treatments were analyzed. Results Among the 21 children with CVST, the main clinical symptoms included headache, vomiting, decreased activity, increased intracranial pressure (30.53±5.07 cmH2O), and papilledema (81%). Cranial fractures involving different sinuses or epidural hematoma was common in the children with CVST. The time of first-time hematoma volume reduction was 18.33±6.15 d in these children, and was significantly shorter in children receiving low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) treatment than in those without LMWH treatment (15.00±5.13 vs 23.75±2.96 d, P < 0.001). The percentage of residual hematoma was meanly 11% (3.0%, 14.5%) in the cohort, and it was significantly lower in children with LMWH treatment than in those without. The hematoma stabilization time was 31.08±8.81 d and 37.75±5.01 d and the D-dimer stabilization time was 12.92±4.62 d and 14.62±2.82 d in LMWH group and non-LMWH group, respectively, showing no significant differences between the 2 groups (P>0.05). Conclusion CVST in children often occurs following skull fracture across the venous sinuses or epidural hematoma that compresses the venous sinus. Anticoagulation therapy can shorten the time of hematoma volume reduction, reduce the volume of residual hematoma, and accelerate recanalization to improve the short-term outcomes of the patients.

Objective To analyze the clinical characteristics of changes in intracranial pressure (ICP) and cerebral perfusion pressure (CPP) and determine their intervention thresholds in children with severe traumatic brain injury (STBI). Methods This prospective observational study was conducted among the children with STBI admitted in the Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University between June, 2014 and June 2018. ICP and CPP of the children were dynamically monitored at every hour after the operation. The theoretical thresholds of ICP and CPP were adopted from literature, and the pressure-time indexes (PTIs) for these thresholds were calculated and their predictive ability was assessed using the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. For children in different age groups (< 2 years, 2-7 years and >7 years), the area under the ROC curve (AUC) was calculated according to the PTIs for each theoretical threshold and Glasgow Outcome Scale score at 6 months after the trauma. The theoretical thresholds corresponding to the maximum AUC was determined to be the optimal thresholds. Results A total of 115 children with STBI were included in this study. For children aged < 2 years (25 cases), 2-7 years (52 cases) and >7 years (38 cases), the age-specific thresholds of ICP was 14.4, 20.0 and 21.6 mmHg, and those of CPP was 45.0, 55.0 and 55.0 mmHg respectively. Conclusion The intervention thresholds of ICP and CPP differ among the STBI chidren at different ages. In children with STBI aged < 2 years, 2-7 years and >7 years, we recommend postoperative ICP of 14.4, 20.0 and 21.6 mmHg, and CCP of 45.0, 55.0 and 55.0 mmHg respectively, as the thresholds for initiating interventions.

Objective To explore clinical features of the etiology, imaging characteristics, complications and prognosis of spontaneous intracranial hemorrhage in infants. Methods Clinical data of 131 cases of spontaneous intracranial hemorrhage in infants (≤3 years old) admitted to our department from January 2011 to December 2018 were collected and retrospectively analyzed, including their clinical etiology, imaging examination results, complications, treatment methods and prognoses. Results The causes of intracranial hemorrhage in this cohort included delayed vitamin K deficiency(72 cases, 54.9%), arteriovenous malformations (16 cases, 12.2%), hemophilia (15 cases, 11.4%), other unexplained coagulation dysfunction (9 cases, 6.9%), cavernous hemangioma (5 cases, 3.8%), hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (4 cases, 3.1%), brain tumor stroke (3 cases, 2.3%), cerebral paragonimiasis and aneurysm (both 2 cases, 1.5%), and acute leukemia, hemophilic syndrome and Sturge-Weber syndrome (all 1 case, 0.8%). All cases were diagnosed with intracranial hemorrhage by CT scanning or MRI, and for the 34 cases with suspected cerebrovascular disease, the detection rate of CTA was 100%. The complications included convulsion or seizure (86 cases, 65.6%), anemia (77 cases, 58.8%), secondary infections (46 cases, 35.1%), cerebral hernia (32 cases, 24.4%), cerebral edema (28 cases, 21.4%), cerebral infarction (27 cases, 20.6%), hydrocephalus (26 cases, 19.8%), respiratory failure (14 cases, 10.6%) and status convulsion (9 cases, 6.9%). There were 43 cases undergone surgical treatment, and 88 cases received non-surgical treatment. Glasgow outcome score (GOS) scale indicated that 100 patients (76.3%) achieved a good prognosis. The results of binary logistic regression analysis showed that cerebral edema (OR=5.794), cerebral hernia (OR=11.326) and respiratory failure (OR=8.028) were risk factors for poor prognosis in the infants with spontaneous intracranial hemorrhage (P < 0.05). Conclusion The most common cause of spontaneous intracranial hemorrhage in infants is delayed vitamin K deficiency. If the cause of hemorrhage is suspected to be cerebrovascular disease, CTA examination should be conducted as early as possible. The most common complications is convulsion or seizure. Cerebral edema, cerebral hernia and respiratory failure often indicate poor prognosis. The disease can obtain a good prognosis after active treatment.

This study evaluates the efficacy and safety of bevacizumab (BEV) in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients with brain metastases (BM) by performing meta-analyses of response and survival indices. Seventeen studies were included. BEV treatment was associated with a lower new BM incidence (hazard ratio: 0.30 [95% confidence interval (CI): 0.14, 0.46]) during follow-up. Disease control rate (DCR) of BEV-treated patients with BM was 91% [95% CI: 85, 95]. However, intracranial DCR was relatively higher (94% [95% CI: 87, 98]) than extracranial DCR (86% [95% CI: 74, 96]). DCR of NSCLC patients with BM was significantly better with BEV than with control therapies (odds ratio: 2.71 [95% CI: 1.26, 5.86], P = 0.01). Progression-free survival (PFS) of BEV-treated patients with and without BM was 7.1 months [95% CI: 6.2, 8.0] and 7.4 months [95% CI: 6.3, 8.4], respectively. Intracranial PFS of BEV-treated patients with BM was 8.0 months [95% CI: 6.0, 10.0]. Overall survival of BEV-treated NSCLC patients with and without BM was 13.5 months [95% CI: 11.4, 15.6] and 12.5 months [95% CI: 10.2, 14.8], respectively. The incidence of bleeding/hemorrhage in the central nervous system was 1% with BEV treatment.

Long-distance natural gas pipelines can often pass through the common slope safely. However, when pipelines inevitably pass through high and steep slopes(HSS) for some reasons, it is difficult for engineers to predict the stress state of pipelines. Therefore, in order to investigate the safety of natural gas pipelines in HSS areas, the finite element simulation calculation model of the pipeline in HSS was established. The predicted numerical model shows that the maximum Von Mises stress and axial strain of the pipeline in the HSS area appear at the lower elbow of the pipeline, which should be paid more attention to in the risk assessment; The stress and deformation of the pipeline is mainly related with the wall thickness and internal pressure, appropriately increasing the wall thickness and reducing the internal pressure can improve the safety of HSS pipelines.

Abstract Background Right-sided colon cancer (RCC) and left-sided colon cancer (LCC) differ with respect to their biology and genomic patterns, but inflammatory index variation did not fully investigate. This study aimed to examine the difference of inflammatory indexes and its value between RCC and LCC. Methods The differences of common clinicopathologic factors, inflammatory indexes including PLR (Platelet lymphocyte ratio) between LCC and RCC were analyzed in the training cohort with logistic regression model, subsequently, confirmed in validation cohort. Kaplan-Meier analysis was applied for the analysis of the survival difference distinguished by the PLR and the Nonparametric Test was adopted to demonstrate the difference of PLR variation with the standard TNM classification between RCC and LCC. Results A total of 1846 CRC patients entered the study, 744 (40.3%) patients were RCC, 1102 (59.7%) were LCC. The patients’ number in both cohorts was 923. It was found that LCC patients in the training cohort significantly to be with higher CEA, adenocarcinoma, early UICC/AJCC stage, p-MMR (mismatch-repair proficient), and lower PLR, and the later four features were confirm in validation cohort. The anode oxide of nanocrystalline Mn-Mo-Ce was prepared by anode electro-deposition technology, and its nanostructure and selective electro-catalytic performance were investigated using the SEM, EDS, XRD, HRTEM, electrochemical technology and oxygen evolution efficiency testing. Furthermore, the selective electro-catalytic mechanism of oxygen evolution and chlorine depression was discussed. The results show that the mesh-like nanostructure Mn-Mo-Ce oxide anode with little cerium doped is obtained, and the oxygen evolution efficiency for the anode in the seawater is 99.51%, which means a high efficiency for the selective electro-catalytic for the oxygen evolution. Due to the structural characteristics of γ-MnO2, the OH- ion is preferentially absorbed, while Cl- absorption is depressed. OH- accomplishes the oxygen evolution process during the valence transition electrocatalysis of Mn4+/Mn3+, completing the selective electro-catalysis process. Ce doping greatly increases the reaction activity, and promotes the absorption and discharge; the rising interplanar spacing between active (100) crystalline plane promotes OH- motion and the escape of newborn O2, so that the selective electro-catalytic property with high efficient oxygen evolution and chlorine depression is achieved from the nano morphology effect.

By correction to the thermodynamic calculation based on E0-pH diagram of MnSO4-SO42--H2O plating system, effective pH value range for anodic electrodeposition of MnO2 phase structure materials got clear, at 363K, with Mn2+ concentration 0.2mol·dm-3. The influence law of the pH values was also obtained based on the characterization of the oxide structure and test of its electrochemical performance. The results show that pH value in the 0.33-3.4 range, with its increase and accordingly the conducive to the effective deposition of MnO2 type Mn-Mo oxide. However, although with pH value increasing, deposition efficiency improves, the coating quality gets degraded, especially making the electrocatalytic performance of the oxide obviously deteriorated. It also shows that with pH value of plating solution 0.5, obtained Mn-Mo oxide has excellent coating quality and high electrocatalytic activity. The reason is closely related to competition in oxygen evolution reaction during the preparation of the oxide. When pH value is small, oxygen evolution reaction competition causes the solid-liquid interface stirring, the dendritic growth of oxide gets inhabited and the diffusion layer gets thinning, which promotes the nucleation of oxide on the electrode micro-surface and makes grain refined, so as to improves the electrocatalytic performance of oxide.

The different isoflavonoid phytoalexins produced by soybeans are known to possess antioxidant and estrogenic effects, with potential health benefits in humans. Enhanced production of phytoalexins by soybean plant will help in research efforts. In this study, the effects of stress induced by Aspergillus oryzae Lu brewing 3042 on the composition of wounded surface of Nigerian soybean seeds were analyzed. Glyceollin, one of the inducible phytoalexins produced by plants, were induced in the Nigerian soybeans variety through fungal infection. Glyceollins I, II, and III were separated by preparative high performance liquid chromatography (Prep-HPLC) from other phytochemicals and had purity of 97.5%. Results from the time course study indicated that the maximum concentration of glyceollins, 0.74 mg/g, occurred at day 3 in the soybean cotyledons inoculated with A. oryzae Lu brewing 3042. The soybean seeds soak time in water was examined and a suitable soak time of 4 h was found best in the accumulation of glyceollins after the soak time study was conducted. Cut or wounded surface of soybean cotyledons produced glyceollins upon fungal treatment as elicitor and the glyceollins were confirmed by the ultra performance liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (UPLC–MS). Analysis of elicitor-treated Nigerian soybean extract showed that A. oryzae Lu brewing 3042 treatments achieved maximum concentration of phytoalexin glyceollins at 1.32 mg/g extract dry weight. These results indicate that using food-grade A. oryzae Lu brewing 3042 elicits the biosynthesis of phytoalexins, alters the secondary metabolite profiles of the soybeans and offers enhanced bioactivity of soybean as a functional food ingredient.

Bakun Hydroelectric Dam in Sarawak is one of the world highest concrete rock filled dams. This paper reports the heavy metals concentrations in water, sediment, and fishes of Bakun Dam. Water and sediment samples were collected from 11 stations and 6 fish species were caught. The samples were digested with open acid digestion and the metals contents were analysed using an atomic absorption spectrophotometer and mercury analyser. The method was validated based on certified reference materials. A higher concentration of Fe and Mn was detected in downstream water with significant longitudinal variation. Cu, Zn, and Hg were present in trace amount. All elements analysed were consistently found in sediment with no risk of contamination. For fish, Hemibagrus planiceps was characterised by higher affinity for Hg accumulation. The concentrations detected in all fish species were within the permissible guideline of 0.5 mg/kg. The health risk assessment suggested that Barbonymus schwanenfeldii, Puntioplites waandersii, Cyclocheilichthys apogon, and Hemibagrus planiceps were characterised by hazard index > 1 implying possible adverse effects. The amount of fish recommended for adults and children was in the range of 500–775 g/week and 33–135 g/week, respectively.

To investigate the clinical effects and application value of self-made disseminating and descending breathing exercises on home rehabilitation of patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Seeking to generate concepts for creating novel, convenient, and efficient COPD prognosis rehabilitation exercises aimed at enhancing the well-being and rehabilitation confidence of both COPD patients and their families. A total of 70 COPD patients admitted to our outpatient department from July 2019 to September 2021 were randomly divided into the exercise group (n = 35) and the control group (n = 35). The control group received routine breathing training, while the exercise group was treated with self-made disseminating and descending breathing exercises. The respiratory function, including pulmonary function (FVC, FEV1, FEV1/FVC) and respiratory muscle strength (MIP, MEP), exercise tolerance (6-min walking distance, 6MWT), Modified Medical Research Council Dyspnea Scale (mMRC, Borg), COPD quality of life score (CAT, SGRQ), anxiety and depression scores (HAMA, HAMD) were compared between the two groups after 12-week exercise. Abstract As more is learned about lactate, it acts as both a product and a substrate and functions as a shuttle system between different cell populations to provide the energy for sustaining tumor growth and proliferation. Recent discoveries of protein lactylation modification mediated by lactate play an increasingly significant role in human health (e.g., neural and osteogenic differentiation and maturation) and diseases (e.g., tumors, fibrosis and inflammation, etc.). These views are critically significant and first described in detail in this review. Hence, here, we focused on a new target, protein lactylation, which may be a “double-edged sword” of human health and diseases. The main purpose of this review was to describe how protein lactylation acts in multiple physiological and pathological processes and their potential mechanisms through an in-depth summary of preclinical in vitro and in vivo studies. Our work aims to provide new ideas for treating different diseases and accelerate translation from bench to bedside.

Akkermansia muciniphila is considered the “paradigm for next-generation beneficial microorganisms” and has been reported to help alleviat immune-related diseases. Evidence shows that herbal medicine can treat disease by regulating the abundance of A. muciniphila. Recent studies have revealed a link between A. muciniphila and immune-related diseases. Here, we systematically reviewed the association between A. muciniphila, herbal medicine, and immune-related diseases (including inflammatory bowel disease, human immunodeficiency virus, cancer immunotherapy, and immune-related liver injury). We also summarize the potential mechanisms of action of A. muciniphila and offer perspectives for future studies.

An understanding of solid-liquid interfaces is of great importance for fundamental research as well as industrial applications. However, it has been very challenging to directly image solid-liquid interfaces with high resolution, thus their structure and properties are often unknown. Here, we report a quasi-liquid phase between metal (In, Sn) nanoparticle surfaces and an aqueous solution observed using liquid cell transmission electron microscopy. Our real-time high-resolution imaging reveals a thin layer of liquid-like materials at the interfaces with the frequent appearance of small In nanoclusters. Such a quasi-liquid phase serves as an intermediate for the mass transport from the metal nanoparticle to the liquid. Density functional theory-molecular dynamics simulations demonstrate that the positive charges of In ions greatly contribute to the stabilization of the quasi-liquid phase on the metal surface.

The invention of the induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) technology allows patient-specific, mature somatic cells to be converted into an unlimited supply of pluripotent stem cells (PSCs). These iPSCs can then in turn be differentiated into any cell type including neurons, cardiac cells, pancreatic cells, liver cells, blood cells or enterocytes. Although cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a leading cause of death in the world, the limited cell derivation and cell number in cardiac tissue makes it difficult to study the CVDs using the existing cardiac cell model. By differentiating the patient-specific iPSCs into cardiomyocytes, scientists can generate iPSC-based ‘disease in a dish’ models and use them to better understand disease mechanism. Here we review the current progress in using iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes to model human CVDs.
