Background: Very few studies have assessed the role of a clinical pharmacist in women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). To improve pharmaceutical care, we explored a method to improve the control of blood glucose and perinatal outcomes in females with GDM through the application of a diabetes management system. Methods: A randomized controlled trial was conducted from October 2017 to October 2018 for 200 outpatients with GDM. In the study, a diabetes management system with pharmaceutical care was used for the intervention group. The clinical outcomes of all patients were recorded at the end of delivery. Results: From one sample of 200 patients, 169 finished the research. Compared with the control group, patients in the intervention group manifested greater reductions in fasting plasma glucose (5.22 ± 0.37 vs. 6.05 ± 1.06 mmol/L; P = 0.018), 2 h postprandial plasma glucose (6.66 ± 0.57 vs. 9.69 ± 1.58 mmol/L; P = 0.00), and glycated hemoglobin A1c corrected values (1.02 ± 0.12 vs. 1.16 ± 0.22; P = 0.023). Moreover, the rate of polyhydramnios was significantly lower in the intervention group than in the control group (0% vs. 10.59%; P = 0.003) as well as significantly fewer macrosomia in the intervention group (7.14% vs. 18.82%; P = 0.038). Conclusions: Using a diabetes management system, clinical pharmacists can improve the control of blood glucose and perinatal results in GDM females. With a diabetes management system, the comprehensive management of GDM is a new model for pharmaceutical care in the future.

The edge turbulence characteristics and the induced radial transport have been investigated in edge localized mode (ELM) suppression by using the $n = $ 4 resonant magnetic perturbation coils on EAST, with ${q_{95}} = $ 3.6 and the electron collisionality $\nu _{\text{e}}^* \approx $ 0.5. During ELM suppression, the edge turbulence is enhanced dramatically, as measured by the reciprocating probe and the poloidal correlation reflectometry. In the near SOL, the low frequency turbulence (250 kHz), which could be beneficial to form the observed turbulent transport. The estimated upstream cross-field particle flux is consistent with the total particle flux deposited on divertor targets, demonstrating that the enhanced radial turbulent particle transport is an important mechanism for particle exhaust in ELM suppression.

In this paper, the blade is assumed to be a rotating variable thickness cantilever twisted plate structure, and the natural vibrations of variable thickness cantilever twisted plate made of metal porous material are studied. It is assumed that the thickness of the plate changes along spanwise direction and chordwise direction, respectively, and it changes in both directions. The classical thin shell theory, the first and second fundamental forms of surface and von Karman geometric relationship are employed to derive the total potential energy and kinetic energy of the cantilever twisted plate, in which the centrifugal force potential due to high rotational speed is included. Then, according to the Rayleigh-Ritz procedure and applying the polynomial functions which satisfy the cantilever boundary conditions, the dynamic system expressed by equations of motion is reduced to an eigenvalue problem. By numerical simulation, the frequency curves and the mode shapes of the twisted plate can be obtained to reveal the internal connection between natural vibration and the parameters. A series of comparison studies are performed to verify the accuracy of the present formulation and calculations, in which compared data come from experimental, finite element method and theoretical calculation, respectively. The influence of pre-twist angle, three different forms of thickness taper ratio and rotational speed on natural vibration, mode exchange and frequency veering phenomenon of the system is discussed in detail. In addition, the approach proposed here can efficiently extract analytical expressions of mode functions for rotating variable thickness cantilever twisted plate structures.

Cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) is a global major crop with strong tolerance to abiotic stress, but its tolerance to cadmium (Cd) stress is unclear. The objective of this study was to determine the influence of Cd stress on the seedling growth and some physiological properties of cotton. Cotton seedlings with three fully expended leaves were treated with Cd at different concentrations (0, 25, 50 and 100 μmol/L), and seedling growth, chlorophyll (Chl) content, malonaldehyde (MDA) content, photosynthetic rate, superoxide dismutase (SOD) and peroxidase (POD) activity in the main-stem leaves were measured 5 days or 10 days after stress treatment. It was found that with the increase in the Cd concentration, the SOD and POD activity of the stressed seedlings displayed an increase first and then a decrease. The MDA content increased and the Chl decreased, which finally led to a decline in plant height and leaf area. The results suggest that cotton seedlings were adapted to low-concentration Cd stress by the increased protective enzyme activity, but over 50 μmol/L of Cd concentration would exert a significantly inhibitory effect on the photosynthetic properties and protective enzyme activity of the cotton leaves. Cotton plants can be adapted to low Cd stress by increasing the activity of the protective enzymes.

Adipocyte size and number are correlated with fat deposition, which is of major concern to human health and pork producers. To identify quantitative trait loci (QTL) for adipocyte size and number in pigs, a total of 341 F2 animals at 240 days in a White Duroc × Erhualian cross were measured for the area, perimeters, volume and number of adipocyte in abdominal fat. A genome scan was performed on these animals and their parents and grandparents with 183 microsatellite markers spanning the pig genome. Five chromosomal regions showed effects on the traits measured, predominantly on adipocyte size, on pig chromosome (SSC) 1, 4, 7 and 9. Neither of these QTL has been reported before this study. The QTL for adipocyte size detected in this study perfectly correspond to the previously reported QTL for fatness traits on SSC1, 4 and 7. The most significant association was evidenced at 58 cM on SSC7. At the locus, the favorable allele decreasing adipocyte size was unusually originated from the obese Erhualian breed. Only a suggestive QTL was detected for adipocyte number on SSC9. The results shed new lights on the understanding of the genetic basis of fatness traits in pigs.
