Owing to their low dimensionality, two-dimensional semiconductors, such as monolayer molybdenum disulfide, have a range of properties that make them valuable in the development of nanoelectronics. For example, the electronic bandgap of these semiconductors is not an intrinsic physical parameter and can be engineered by manipulating the dielectric environment around the monolayer. Here we show that this dielectric-dependent electronic bandgap can be used to engineer a lateral heterojunction within a homogeneous MoS 2 monolayer. We visualize the heterostructure with Kelvin probe force microscopy and examine its influence on electrical transport experimentally and theoretically. We observe a lateral heterojunction with an approximately 90 meV band offset due to the differing degrees of bandgap renormalization of monolayer MoS 2 when it is placed on a substrate in which one segment is made from an amorphous fluoropolymer (Cytop) and another segment is made of hexagonal boron nitride. This heterostructure leads to a diode-like electrical transport with a strong asymmetric behaviour.

We report a charge-transfer mechanism in tuning of magnetism of Nd-substituted Gd5-xNdxSi4 (x=1 and 2.5) compounds. The X-ray absorption near edge structure measurements demonstrated that Nd substitutions for Gd induce charge transfer of 5d electrons from Gd to Nd. The charge transfer weakens spin-orbital coupling of Gd but strengthens that of Nd. Consequently, the magnetization responses of the substituted compounds to low magnetic fields are increased while their saturation magnetization is reduced. Electronic structure calculations showed that the charge transfer stabilizes a ferromagnetic and a ferrimagnetic structure in the compounds with x = 1 and 2.5, respectively, but that it does not change the 5d–3p hybridization significantly. The dynamic succession and seasonal characteristics of microbiota throughout the Shanxi mature vinegar (SMV) fermentation by the semisolid-solid process were explored using high-throughput sequencing techniques. The results showed that the richness and diversity of fungi were higher than those of bacteria in a complete seasonal SMV fermentation cycle, and the microbial community was dominated by 11 taxa of bacteria and 16 taxa of fungi. In all four seasons, lactic acid bacteria and acetic acid bacteria were the dominant bacteria, while the dominant fungi varied. Saccharomyces and Pichia played an important role in spring. Aspergillus and Issatchenkia were enriched in the summer. Kazachstania was the dominant microorganism in autumn. While Mesenteroides and Meyerozyma were enriched in winter. Unweighted pair group method with arithmetic mean (UPGMA) cluster analysis demonstrated that seasonality had a more decisive impact on microbiota composition than the fermentation stage within a season, and the microbiota structure in summer was significantly different from that in the other three seasons. Combined with the highest operational taxonomic units (OTUs) percentage (37%) of summer fungi in the Venn diagrams, it is speculated that the specific fungi may be the root cause for the relatively low SMV quality in summer. This work provided critical insights into the dynamic succession of the microbial community in SMV fermentation from a seasonality view, and the results could enrich our understanding of the microbiota involved in SMV fermentation and guide process control., Importance: Understanding the changes in microbial communities across different seasons is crucial for ensuring the quality of Shanxi mature vinegar (SMV) by the semisolid-solid process. In a complete seasonal cycle, the richness and diversity of fungi were higher than those of bacteria. The microbial community in summer fermentation was significantly different compared to the other three seasons. For example, the dominant microorganisms such as Acetobacter and Lactobacillus decreased in summer. Screening or modifying this group of bacteria to enhance their tolerance to high fermentation temperature is an approach to improve industrial SMV fermentation. Through co-occurrence network analysis, eight highly connected genera were identified, which may play important roles in ecosystem stability. These results also lay a theoretical foundation for the further development of multi-microbial co-fermentation. This work provides an understanding of SMV fermentation from a seasonal perspective and offers new guidance for the process control of grain vinegar brewing.

Background: As the second most populous country in the world, China has a huge demand for health human resources. Over the past decade, the Chinese government has continuously increased investment in the health sector and implemented relevant policies and systems in an attempt to enhance the overall quantity and equity of health human resources. This study aims to analyze the equity and developmental trends in the allocation of health human resources in China from 2012 to 2021, providing reference and theoretical support for the government's further optimization of health human resources allocation., Methods: This study collected health human resources data from 31 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions in China from 2012 to 2021. The methods employed included Lorenz curves, Gini coefficients, and agglomeration degree analysis, which examined the developmental trends and equity of health human resources from the perspectives of population and geographical., Results: This study found that over the past decade, there has been a significant increase in the total quantity of health human resources in China, accompanied by an improvement in equity, although disparities still exist. There are notable variations in the distribution of health human resources based on geographical area, with disparities between different regions. Relative shortages of health human resources are observed in western regions, while some areas in the eastern and central regions exhibit an abundance or surplus of health human resources., Conclusion: Overall, health human resources in China have experienced stable development, with an incremental improvement in allocation equity, yet there remains considerable room for progress. Aging-related metabolic disorders seriously affect the lifespan of middle-aged and older people, potentially due to disruptions in the adaptive immune and gut microbial profiles. Dietary intervention offers a promising strategy for maintaining metabolic health. This study aimed to investigate the ameliorative effect of 2'-fucosyllactose (2'-FL) on aging-induced metabolic dysfunction and the underlying mechanisms. The results revealed that 2'-FL significantly relieved aging-related metabolic disorders, including weight gain, lipid deposition, dyslipidemia, glucose intolerance, systemic inflammation, and abnormal hepatic metabolism. Flow cytometry analysis revealed a significant reduction in T cytotoxic (Tc), T helper (Th), and regulatory T (Treg) cells and a significant increase in Th17 cells in aged mice, while 2'-FL relieved the aging-induced proportional changes in Th and Th17 subtypes. The aging intestinal microecology was characterized by higher Th17/Treg ratios, impaired gut barrier function, lower gut bacterial diversity, decreased abundance of beneficial genera including Ligilactobacillus, Colidextribacter, Mucispirillum, and Lachnoclostridium, and increased abundance of harmful bacteria including Turicibacter and Desulfovibrio, which was ameliorated by 2'-FL treatment. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of Exergaming in improving executive function and motor ability across different groups of children and adolescents. We searched several databases, including PsycINFO, Web of Science, Embase, PubMed, SPORT Discus, Scopus, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, for randomized controlled trial (RCT) studies published from inception until November 25, 2023, to identify studies investigating the effect of Exergaming on motor and executive function in children. The protocol was registered with PROSPERO (CRD42023482281). A total of 37 randomized controlled trials were included in this study. Our results indicate that Exergaming can influence children's cognitive flexibility [SMD = 0.34, 95%CI(0.13,0.55), I2 = 0.0%, P = 0.738], inhibition control [SMD = 0.51, 95%CI (0.30,0.72), I2 = 0.0%, P = 0.473], global cognitive [SMD = 0.87, 95%CI (0.50,1.23), I2 = 0.0%, P = 0.974], working memory [SMD = 0.18, 95%CI(-0.16, 0.52), I2 = 46.5%, P = 0.096], gross motor skills [SMD = 0.82, 95%CI (0.30, 1.35), I2 = 79.1%, P<0.001], fine motor skills [SMD = 0.71, 95%CI (0.22,1.21), I2 = 78.7%, P<0.001], balance [SMD = 0.61, 95%CI (0.34, 0.88), I2 = 59.5%, P = 0.001], and cardiorespiratory [SMD = 0.48, 95%CI (0.16, 0.79), I2 = 58.4%, P = 0.019]. While these findings suggest that Exergaming can promote children's cognitive flexibility, inhibitory control, global cognition and motor abilities, the effect on working memory was not statistically significant. Aim: The aim of the study is to identify the regulatory role of intestinal sweet taste receptors (STRs) and glucose transporters (SGLT1, GLUT2) and gut peptide secretion in duodenal-jejunal bypass (DJB)-ameliorated glycemic control in Type 2 diabetes. Materials and Methods: DJB and sham surgeries were performed in streptozotocin-induced diabetic male rats. The blood GLP-1 and GLP-2 levels were evaluated under feeding and fasting conditions. The expression of STRs (T1R2, T1R3), sweet taste signaling effector (G α -gustducin), SGLT1, and GLUT2 was detected in the intestinal alimentary limb (A limb), biliopancreatic limb (BP limb), and common limb (C limb). The effects of STR inhibition on glucose control were measured with lactisole. Results: Glucose tolerance was improved in DJB-operated rats compared with the sham group, similar to that of normal control rats, without significant differences in food intake and body weight. The plasma GLP-1 levels of DJB rats were increased under diet-fed condition, and GLP-2 levels were increased after fasting. The villus height and crypt depth were significantly increased in the A limb of DJB-operated rats. In addition, GLP-1 expression was restored in enterocytes. The expression of T1R2, G α -gustducin, and SGLT1 was elevated in the A limb after DJB, while GLUT2 was downregulated in the A, BP, and C limbs. The localization of GLUT2 was normalized in the three intestinal limbs after DJB. However, the beneficial effects of DJB on glucose control were abolished in the presence of lactisole in vivo. Globally, non‑small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is a significant threat to human health, and constitutes >80% of lung cancer cases. Cisplatin (CDDP), a commonly used drug in clinical treatment, has been the focus of research aiming to mitigate its potent toxicity through encapsulation within liposomes. However, challenges, such as a reduced drug loading efficiency and nonspecific release, have emerged as obstacles. The present study aimed to improve the encapsulation efficiency of CDDP within liposomes by pre‑preparation of CDDP and modifying the liposome surface through the incorporation of peanut agglutinin (PNA) as a ligand [CDDP‑loaded PNA‑modified liposomes (CDDP‑PNA‑Lip)]. This strategy was designed to enhance the delivery of CDDP to tumour tissues, thereby reducing associated side effects. The effect of CDDP‑PNA‑Lip on the proliferation and migration of NSCLC cell lines with high MUC1 expression was elucidated through in vitro studies. Additionally, the capacity of PNA modification to augment the targeted anti‑tumour efficacy of liposomes was assessed through xenograft tumour experiments. The results indicated that in an in vitro uptake assay Rhodamine B (RhB)‑loaded PNA‑modified liposomes were taken up by cells with ~50% higher efficiency compared with free RhB. In addition, CDDP‑PNA‑Lip resulted in a 2.65‑fold enhancement of tumour suppression in vivo compared with free CDDP. These findings suggested that the encapsulation of CDDP within ligand‑modified liposomes may significantly improve its tumour‑targeting capabilities, providing valuable insights for clinical drug development.

Emphysematous osteomyelitis (EO) is a rare and potentially fatal disease that often occurs in patients with underlying conditions, most commonly diabetes mellitus. Herein, we report a case of a 62-year-old man who presented with fever, tachycardia, and hypotension 112 days after liver transplantation. Blood tests revealed an increased inflammatory response. Computed tomography demonstrated clusters of small gas collections in the first and second lumbar vertebral bodies and the right sacral ala, a finding characteristic of the pumice stone sign of EO. Septic shock due to EO was diagnosed. The patient responded well to treatment and recovered from the infection. Immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is an immune disorder characterized by thrombocytopenia. Fostamatinib is an orally administered spleen tyrosine kinase inhibitor intended to treat refractory ITP. To evaluate the efficacy and safety of fostamatinib as a subsequent-line therapy for ITP in adults. We searched four electronic databases for primary studies of any design. Primary efficacy outcomes included proportions of patients achieving overall (≥30 × 10 9 cells/L), partial (≥50 × 10 9 cells/L), and stable (as defined in original studies) platelet response. Safety outcomes included rescue medication use and other adverse events. We used narrative synthesis and Mantel-Haenszel random effect meta-analysis to summarize results. Our systematic review included 11 studies for analyses ( n  = 722). Weighted mean proportions of patients achieving overall, partial, and stable responses with fostamatinib treatment were 0.70 [0.62, 0.76], 0.48 [0.36, 0.61], and 0.28 [0.16, 0.44], respectively. Fostamatinib was favored over placebo for partial (relative risk [RR] = 3.04, 95% confidence interval [CI] [1.53, 6.06]) and stable (RR = 6.43, 95% CI [1.58, 26.23]) responses. Patients on fostamatinib required less rescue medication and were more likely to experience hypertension. Fostamatinib is a viable subsequent-line therapy option for refractory ITP. Background: Effective teaching methods are needed to improve students' abilities in hand-eye coordination and understanding of cardiac anatomy in echocardiography education. Simulation devices have emerged as innovative teaching tools and exhibited distinctive advantages due to their ability to provide vivid and visual learning experiences. This study aimed to investigate the effect of simulation of sectional human anatomy using ultrasound on students' learning outcomes and satisfaction in echocardiography education., Methods: The study included 18 first-year clinical medical students with no prior echocardiography training. After randomization, they underwent a pre-test to assess basic knowledge. Following this, the students were divided into two groups: traditional teaching (traditional group) and simulation of sectional human anatomy using ultrasound (digital group). Each group received 60 min of instruction. Post-tests were assigned to students at two different time points: immediately after the lecture, and one week later (referred to as post-tests 1, and 2). In addition, anonymous questionnaires were distributed to students after class to investigate their satisfaction with teaching., Results: Both groups showed significant improvement in their scores on post-test 1 compared to pre-test (traditional group: from 33.1 ± 8.8 to 48.1 ± 13.1, P = 0.034 vs. digital group: from 35.0 ± 6.7 to 58.0 ± 13.2, P = 0.008). However, there were no significant differences between the two groups in several post-test comparisons. Student satisfaction ratings revealed that the digital group experienced significantly greater satisfaction in areas such as subject interest, teaching style, course alignment, and interaction compared to the traditional group. Additionally, 80% of the digital group strongly endorsed the use of simulation of sectional human anatomy using ultrasound for echocardiography teaching, highlighting its effectiveness., Conclusions: Simulation of sectional human anatomy using ultrasound may improve students' understanding of echocardiography and satisfaction with the course. Our study provides evidence supporting the use of simulation teaching devices in medical education. Although bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs)-derived exosomes have been reported to be closely associated with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) progression and chemo-resistance, but its detailed functions and molecular mechanisms have not been fully delineated. Besides, serum RNA m6A demethylase fat mass and obesity-associated protein (FTO)-containing exosomes are deemed as important indicators for cancer progression, and this study aimed to investigate the role of BM-MSCs-derived FTO-exosomes in regulating the malignant phenotypes of AML cells. Here, we verified that BM-MSCs-derived exosomes delivered FTO to promote cancer aggressiveness, stem cell properties and Cytosine arabinoside (Ara-C)-chemoresistance in AML cells, and the underlying mechanisms were also uncovered. Our data suggested that BM-MSCs-derived FTO-exo demethylated m6A modifications in the m6A-modified LncRNA GLCC1 to facilitate its combination with the RNA-binding protein Hu antigen R (HuR), which further increased the stability and expression levels of LncRNA GLCC1. In addition, LncRNA GLCC1 was verified as an oncogene to facilitate cell proliferation and enhanced Ara-C-chemoresistance in AML cells. Further experiments confirmed that demethylated LncRNA GLCC1 served as scaffold to facilitate the formation of the IGF2 mRNA binding protein 1 (IGF2BP1)-c-Myc complex, which led to the activation of the downstream tumor-promoting c-Myc-associated signal pathways. Moreover, our rescuing experiments validated that the promoting effects of BM-MSCs-derived FTO-exo on cancer aggressiveness and drug resistance in AML cells were abrogated by silencing LncRNA GLCC1 and c-Myc. Rechargeable lithium (Li) metal batteries face challenges in achieving stable cycling due to the instability of the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI). The Li-ion solvation structure and its desolvation process are crucial for the formation of a stable SEI on Li metal anodes and improving Li plating/stripping kinetics. This research introduces an interfacial desolvation coating technique to actively modulate the Li-ion solvation structure at the Li metal interface and regulate the participation of the electrolyte solvent in SEI formation. Through experimental investigations conducted using a carbonate electrolyte with limited compatibility to Li metal, the optimized desolvation coating layer, composed of 12-crown-4 ether-modified silica materials, selectively displaces strongly coordinating solvents while simultaneously enriching weakly coordinating fluorinated solvents at the Li metal/electrolyte interface. This selective desolvation and enrichment effect reduce solvent participation to SEI and thus facilitate the formation of a LiF-dominant SEI with greatly reduced organic species on the Li metal surface, as conclusively verified through various characterization techniques including XPS, quantitative NMR, operando NMR, cryo-TEM, EELS, and EDS. Objectives: To dissect clinical and biological heterogeneity in clinical states of bipolar disorder (BD), and investigate if neuropsychological symptomatology, comorbidity, vital signs, and blood laboratory indicators are predictors of distinct BD states., Methods: A retrospective BD cohort was established with data extracted from a Chinese hospital's electronic medical records (EMR) between 2009 and 2018. Subjects were inpatients with a main discharge diagnosis of BD and were assessed for clinical state at hospitalization. We categorized all subjects into manic state, depressive state, and mixed state. Four machine learning classifiers were utilized to classify the subjects. A Shapley additive explanations (SHAP) algorithm was applied to the classifiers to aid in quantifying and visualizing the contributions of each feature that drive patient-specific classifications., Results: A sample of 3,085 records was included (38.54% as manic, 56.69% as depressive, and 4.77% as mixed state). Mixed state showed more severe suicidal ideation and psychomotor abnormalities, while depressive state showed more common anxiety, sleep, and somatic-related symptoms and more comorbid conditions. Higher levels of body temperature, pulse, and systolic and diastolic blood pressures were present during manic episodes. Xgboost achieved the best AUC of 88.54% in manic/depressive states classification; Logistic regression and Random forest achieved the best AUCs of 75.5 and 75% in manic/mixed states and depressive/mixed states classifications, respectively. Objective:  The aim of this study was to evaluate the expression of selected salivary oncomiRNAs among smokeless tobacco users and nonsmokers., Materials and Methods:  Twenty-five subjects with chronic smokeless tobacco habit (> 1 year) and 25 nonsmokers were selected for this study. MicroRNA was extracted from saliva samples using the miRNeasy Kit (Qiagen, Hilden, Germany). The forward primers used in the reactions include hsa-miR-21-5p, hsa-miR-146a-3p, hsa-miR-155-3p, and hsa-miR-199a-3p. Relative expression of miRNAs was calculated using the 2-ΔΔCt method. Fold change is calculated by raising 2 to the power of the negative ΔΔCT value., Statistical Analysis:  Statistical analysis was carried out using GraphPad Prism 5 software. A p -value less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant., Results:  The four tested miRNAs were found overexpressed in saliva of subjects with smokeless tobacco habit when compared with saliva from nontobacco users. miR-21 expression was 3.74 ± 2.26 folds higher among subjects with smokeless tobacco habit compared to nontobacco users ( p  < 0.01). The expression for miR-146a (5.56 ± 8.3 folds; p  < 0.05), miR-155 (8.06 ± 23.4 folds; p  < 0.0001) and miR-199a (14.39 ± 30.3 folds; p  < 0.05) was significantly higher among subjects with smokeless tobacco habit., Conclusion:  Smokeless tobacco leads to salivary overexpression of the miRs 21, 146a, 155, and 199a. Obesity has emerged as one of the most prevalent chronic diseases worldwide. Our study was conducted to investigate the anti-obese potential of novel probiotic Bifidobacterium longum subsp. infantis FB3-14 (FB3-14) and the underlying molecular mechanisms in high-fat diet (HFD)-fed mice. The results demonstrated that an 8-week FB3-14 intervention significantly suppressed the HFD-induced body and fat weight gain and abnormal alterations of the serum lipid parameter, restoring the levels of cholesterol (4.29 mmol/L) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (3.42 mmol/L). FB3-14 treatment also attenuated adipocyte expansion, hepatic injury, and low-grade systemic inflammation and restored the expressions of lipid-metabolism-related genes, including Hsl , Leptin , and Adiponectin . Furthermore, FB3-14 was observed to reduce the Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes ratio in obese mice; increase the abundance of Akkermansia muciniphila , unclassified&#95;Muribaculaceae , Lachnospiraceae&#95;NK4A136&#95;group , and Bifidobacterim ; and upregulate G protein-coupled receptor41 associated with higher levels of butyric acid. These results indicate the protective effectiveness of FB3-14 in HFD-driven obesity and gut microbiota disorders, highlighting the promising potential of FB3-14 as a functional nutrition supplement.

The widespread use of pesticides performs a vital role in safeguarding crop yields and quality, providing the opportunity for multiple pesticides to co-exist, which poses a significant potential risk to human health. To assess the toxic effects caused by exposures to individual pesticides (chlorpyrifos, carbofuran and acetamiprid), binary combinations and ternary combinations, individual and combined exposure models were developed using HepG2 cells and the types of combined effects of pesticide mixtures were assessed using concentration addition (CA), independent action (IA) and combination index (CI) models, respectively, and the expression of biomarkers related to oxidative stress, apoptosis and cell necrosis was further examined. Our results showed that both individual pesticides and mixtures exerted toxic effects on HepG2 cells. The CI model indicated that the toxic effects of pesticide mixtures exhibited synergistic effects. The results of the lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) release and apoptosis assay revealed that the pesticide mixture increased the release of LDH and apoptosis levels. Moreover, our results also showed that individual pesticides and mixtures disrupted redox homeostasis and that pesticide mixtures produced more intense oxidative stress effects. DNA ligases are essential enzymes involved in DNA replication and repair processes in all organisms. These enzymes seal DNA breaks by catalyzing the formation of phosphodiester bonds between juxtaposed 5' phosphate and 3' hydroxyl termini in double-stranded DNA. In addition to their critical roles in maintaining genomic integrity, DNA ligases have been recently identified as diagnostic biomarkers for several types of cancers and recognized as potential drug targets for the treatment of various diseases. Although DNA ligases are significant in basic research and medical applications, developing strategies for efficiently detecting and precisely quantifying these crucial enzymes is still challenging. Here, we report our design and fabrication of a highly sensitive and specific biosensor in which a stable DNA hairpin is utilized to stimulate the generation of fluorescence signals. This probe is verified to be stable under a wide range of experimental conditions and exhibits promising performance in detecting DNA ligases. We anticipate that this hairpin-based biosensor will significantly benefit the development of new targeting strategies and diagnostic tools for certain diseases.

Background: N6-methyladenosine (m6A) has been confirmed to function critically in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) progression. Hitherto, the subtyping and prognostic predictive significance of m6A-correlated genes in AML is unclear., Method: From The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA-LAML), Therapeutically Applicable Research to Generate Effective Treatments (TARGET-AML) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO, GSE71014) databases, we collected the sequencing data of AML patients. The batch effect was removed via limma package for TCGA-LAML and TARGET-AML, and the aggregated samples were AML cohorts. Samples in the AML cohort identified m6A models in AML by consensus clustering based on 23-m6A-related modulators. M6A-related differentially expressed genes (m6ARDEGs) influencing the overall survival (OS) of AML were determined by performing differential expression analysis and univariate COX analysis, and consensus-based clustering was utilized to access AML molecular subtypes. LASSO and multivariate COX analyses were performed to obtain the optimized m6ARDEGs to construct the m6A Prognostic Risk Score (m6APR&#95;Score). Whether the model was robust was evaluated according to Kaplan-Meier (K-M) and receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curves. Further, the abundance of immune cell infiltration was explored in different m6A modification patterns and molecular subtypes and m6APR&#95;Score groupings. Finally, nomogram was constructed to predict OS in AML. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) and cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) assay were used to validate the genes in m6APR&#95;Score in AML cells., Results: The m6A models (m6AM1, m6AM2, m6AM3) and molecular subtypes (C1, C2, C3) were identified in the AML cohort, exhibiting different prognosis and immunoreactivity. We recognized novel prognostic biomarkers of AML such as CD83, NRIP1, ACSL1, METTL7B, OGT, and C4orf48. AML patients were grouped into high-m6APR&#95;Score and low-m6APR&#95;Score groups, with the later group showing a better prognosis than former one. Both the AML cohort and the validation cohort GSE71014 demonstrated excellent prediction. Finally, the nomogram accurately predicted the survival of patients suffering from AML. Further, the decision curves showed that both nomogram and m6APR&#95;Score showed excellent prediction. It was confirmed in vitro experiments that mRNA expressions of NRIP1, ACSL1, METTL7B and OGT were elevated, while CD83 and C4orf48 mRNA expressions downregulated in AML cells. A significant increase in the viability of U937 and THP-1 cell lines after inhibition of CD83, while siMETTL7B had contrast results., Conclusion: Our study demonstrated that m6APR&#95;Score and CD83, NRIP1, ACSL1, METTL7B, OGT, and C4orf48 potentially provided novel and promising prognostic support for AML patients., (© 2023. Optical isolators provide one-way propagation and are necessary to protect laser diodes from damage and unstable operation caused by reflected light. Although magneto-optical (MO) devices can operate as isolators, achieving high-density integration using conventional direct bonding methods is difficult because a large and thick growth substrate remains on the circuits. We experimentally demonstrated a compact Mach-Zehnder interferometer-based MO isolator with Si waveguides by the µ-transfer printing of a Ce:YIG/SGGG coupon. The isolator has a footprint of 0.25 mm 2 with a Ce:YIG/SGGG coupon of 50 × 800 µm 2 and ∼ 1-µm thickness and achieved a maximum isolation ratio of 14 dB in telecom bands.

Background: General practitioners (GP) are the gatekeepers of residents' health, 2021 is the 10th year of the establishment of the GP system in China. This study aims to assess the equity and trends of GP allocation in China from 2012 to 2021, summarize the efforts and progress of GPs in China during the decade, predict the development trend of GPs in mainland China in the next 5 years to provide a reference for regional health planning and rational allocation of GPs in China., Methods: Data from 2012 to 2021 on GPs in 22 provinces, 5 autonomous regions, and 4 municipalities directly under the central government in mainland China (excluding Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan) are collected by us. Gini coefficient, Lorenz curve and health resource agglomeration degree (HRAD) were used to analyze the equity of the allocation of GPs in China from different dimensions, a Grey prediction model was used to forecast the number of GPs in 2022-2026., Results: The number of GPs in mainland China increased from 109 794 to 434 868 from 2012 to 2021, with 3.08 GPs per 10 000 people in 2021. The Gini coefficient of GPs allocation by population in China decreased from 0.312 to 0.147 from 2012 to 2021, while the Gini coefficient of geographic dimension remained between 0.700 and 0.750. Compared with the degree of curvature of the Lorenz curve in the geographic dimension, the degree of curvature of the population and economic dimension were smaller. In 2021, the HRAD in the Eastern region was 4.618, the Central region was 1.493, with different degrees of imbalance among regions, the HRAD/PAD (population agglomeration degree) in the Eastern, Central and Western regions were 1.196, 0.880 and 0.821, respectively. GPs in the Eastern region is still concentrated, while the Central and Western regions were at a similar level, GPs were more scarce. The GM (1,1) model predicts that the number of GPs in mainland China will reach about 720 000 in 2026, the number of GPs per 10 000 people will reach 4.9., Conclusion: After a decade of development, the number of GPs in China has increased significantly. It has reached the goal of the GP system when it was first established. However, the equity of the geographical dimension, both in terms of Gini coefficient and HRAD, has great differences between different regions. The average Gini coefficient at the geographic dimension is 0.723. The average HRAD index was 4.969 in the East and 0.293 in the West. The Western region has the problem of insufficient GP allocation in both population and geographical dimension. In the future, the number of GPs in China will continue to grow rapidly with the support of policies. The "2030" goal, proposed in 2018, is expected to be achieved by 2026. Eating disorders (EDs), including anorexia nervosa (AN), are severe psychological disorders that affect individuals' eating behaviours and body perception. Previous research has shown that people with EDs often report poorer sleep. Some literature has suggested that it is mood dysregulation that mediates the link between EDs and sleep. However, the majority of previous studies only focused on females, while male ED patients have been overlooked. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the relationships between EDs, mood, and sleep among male ED patients. Using a mixture of actigraphy recordings and self-reported questionnaires, the current study analysed a total 33 adult male participants diagnosed with AN. The participants first wore an actigraphy device for seven continuous days, following which their ED severity and mood were assessed by the Eating Disorder Examination Questionnaire (EDE-Q) and Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS), respectively. The descriptive actigraphy results suggested that, similar to females, males with AN also showed disturbed sleep, including insomnia, sleep fragmentation, low sleep efficiency, and increased napping sessions. However, when ED severity was correlated against actigraphy data and mood, no significant relationships were found between them. Thus, it was suggested that future studies may investigate discrete ED symptoms instead of global ED severity interacting with sleep and mood. Overall, this study represents an initial step in the investigation of EDs and sleep and mood dysregulation among an under-represented sample.

Lithium-sulfur all-solid-state batteries using inorganic solid-state electrolytes are considered promising electrochemical energy storage technologies. However, developing positive electrodes with high sulfur content, adequate sulfur utilization, and high mass loading is challenging. Here, to address these concerns, we propose using a liquid-phase-synthesized Li 3 PS 4 -2LiBH 4 glass-ceramic solid electrolyte with a low density (1.491 g cm -3 ), small primary particle size (~500 nm) and bulk ionic conductivity of 6.0 mS cm -1 at 25 °C for fabricating lithium-sulfur all-solid-state batteries. When tested in a Swagelok cell configuration with a Li-In negative electrode and a 60 wt% S positive electrode applying an average stack pressure of ~55 MPa, the all-solid-state battery delivered a high discharge capacity of about 1144.6 mAh g -1 at 167.5 mA g -1 and 60 °C. We further demonstrate that the use of the low-density solid electrolyte increases the electrolyte volume ratio in the cathode, reduces inactive bulky sulfur, and improves the content uniformity of the sulfur-based positive electrode, thus providing sufficient ion conduction pathways for battery performance improvement., (© 2023. Background: China's primary health care system has undergone major changes since the new round of medical reform in 2009, but the current status of primary health care institution service efficiency is still unsatisfactory. The purpose of this study is to compare and evaluate the China's primary health care institution service efficiency and provide a reference for improving the efficiency and promoting the development of primary health care institution., Methods: Based on panel data of 31 provinces (municipalities directly under the central government and autonomous regions) in mainland China from 2011 to 2020, using the super efficiency slack-based measure-data envelopment analysis model, to analyze the data from a static perspective, and the changes in the efficiency of primary health care services were analyzed from a dynamic perspective by using the Malmquist index method. Spatial autocorrelation analysis method was used to verify the spatial correlation of primary health care service efficiency among various regions., Results: The number of Primary health care institutions increased from 918,000 in 2011 to 970,000 in 2020. The average primary health care institution service efficiency in the northeastern region including Jilin (0.324), Heilongjiang (0.460), Liaoning (0.453) and northern regions such as Shaanxi (0.344) and Neimenggu (0.403) was at a low level, while the eastern coastal regions such as Guangdong (1.116), Zhejiang (1.211), Shanghai (1.402) have higher average service efficiency levels. The global Moran's I showed the existence of spatial autocorrelation, and the local Moran's I index suggested that the problem of uneven regional development was prominent, showing a contiguous regional distribution pattern. Among them, H-H (high-efficiency regions) were mainly concentrated in Jiangsu, Anhui and Shanghai, and L-L regions (low-efficiency regions) were mostly in northern and northeastern China., Conclusion: The service efficiency of primary health care institution in China showed a rising trend in general, but the overall average efficiency was still at a low level, and there were significant geographical differences, which showed a spatial distribution of "high in the east and low in the west, high in the south and low in the north". The northwestern region, after receiving relevant support, has seen a rapid development of primary health care, and its efficiency was steadily improving and gradually reaching a high level. The average primary health care institution service efficiency in the northeastern region including the northern region of China was at a low level, while the average efficiency in the eastern coastal region and some economically developed regions was high, which also verifies the dependence and high symbiosis of primary health care institution service efficiency on regional economy., (© 2023. We propose a method of supercontinuum light generation enhanced by multimode excitation in a precisely dispersion-engineered deuterated SiN (SiN:D) waveguide. Although a regularly designed SiN-based nonlinear optical waveguide exhibits anomalous dispersion with the fundamental and first-order multimode operation, the center-symmetric light pumping at the input edge has so far inhibited the full potential of the nonlinearity of SiN-based materials. On the basis of numerical analysis and simulation for the SiN:D waveguide, we intentionally applied spatial position offsets to excite the fundamental and higher-order modes to realize bandwidth broadening with flatness. Using this method, we achieved an SNR improvement of up to 18 dB at a wavelength of 0.6 µm with an offset of about 1 µm in the Y-axis direction and found that the contribution was related to the presence of dispersive waves due to the excitation of TE 10 , and TE 01 modes.

To effectively evaluate the detection capability of the infrared search and tracking system (IRST), the mathematical models of target infrared (IR) radiation intensity envelope, atmospheric transmittance, and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) operating range are improved, respectively. Based on the above three models, the IRST performance evaluation simulation system is designed to analyze the optimal detection point and effective detection area under different conditions (such as target speed, detection angle, detection probability, false alarm probability, and operating range). Meanwhile, in order to verify the validity of the model, the range evaluation method of calibration and cross-validation is proposed. And taking the cross-validation method as the baseline, the error of the optimized mathematical model of IRST in this paper is within 10%. The research results are of reference significance for IRST operating range evaluation, design, and use.

Cold-brewed jasmine tea (CB-JT) is regarded to possess characteristic flavors and health benefits as a novel resource of functional tea beverages. To investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying CB-JT-mediated protective effects on obesity, we evaluated the serum biochemistry, histological condition, glucose tolerance, gene expression profile and intestinal microbial diversity in high-fat diet (HFD)-fed mice. Our results demonstrate that cold-brewed jasmine tea can significantly attenuate HFD-induced body weight gain, abnormal serum lipid levels, fat deposition, hepatic injury, inflammatory processes as well as metabolic endotoxemia. CB-JT also modified the microbial community composition in HFD-fed mice and altered the balance to one closely resembled that of the control group. The differential abundance of core microbes in obese mice was reversed by CB-JT treatment, including an increment in the abundance of Blautia , Mucispirillum , and Bilophila as well as a decrease in the abundance of Alloprevotella . CB-JT was proved to regulate the mRNA expression levels of lipid metabolism-related genes such as Leptin , Pgc1a Il6 , and Il1b in the adipose tissue coupled with Cyp7a1 , Lxra , Srebp1c , and Atgl in the liver. These findings indicate that cold-brewed jasmine tea might be served as a potential functional tea beverage to prevent obesity and gut microbiota dysbiosis.

Rheum tanguticum (R. tanguticum) has been widely used for the treatment of inflammatory diseases in clinical. However, limited research exist on the quality evaluation of various R. tanguticum locations, which has certain drawbacks. In this study, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) were used to comparative study on the chemical contents of R. tanguticum, to clarify the relationship between the chemical contents and the spatial distribution of R. tanguticum. First of all, the FTIR spectra of 18 batches of R. tanguticum were examined. Following the cluster analysis, the FTIR spectra of various production locations differed. To some extent, establishing the double index analysis sequence of common and variation peaks may differentiate distinct production locations of medicinal materials. The HPLC fingerprint of R. tanguticum was constructed to further explore the link between components and their origin. PCA of common peaks of 18 batches of R. tanguticum indicated that R. tanguticum grown in Gannan and Qinghai had a tendency to separate t[2], however this trend was not noticeable. Then, OPLS-DA model was established, and the key differential components of R. tanguticum produced in Gannan and Qinghai were discovered to be R16, R37, R46, and R47 (Aloe emodin) (VIP ≥ 1 and P < 0.05). At last, Pearson's test was used to examine the relationship between longitude, latitude, altitude, and composition. Longitude was significantly positively correlated with R28 and R30 (P < 0.05), and a very significantly positively correlated with R35, R36, R37, R46, and R47 (P < 0.01). Latitude was significantly negatively correlated with R34, R35, and R40 (P < 0.05), and extremely significantly negatively correlated with R28, R30, R36, R37, R46, and R47 (P < 0.01). Altitude was significantly positive correlation with R36 and R37 (P < 0.01). Allyl methyl trisulfide (AMTS) is one major lipid-soluble organosulfur compound of garlic. Previous studies have reported the potential therapeutic effect of garlic on acute lung injury (ALI) or its severe condition acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), but the specific substances that exert the regulatory effects are still unclear. In this study, we investigate the protective effects of AMTS on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced ALI mice and explored the underlying mechanisms. In vivo experiments, ICR mice were pretreated with 25-100 mg/kg AMTS for 7 days and followed by intratracheal instillation of LPS (1.5 mg/kg). The results showed that AMTS significantly attenuated LPS-induced deterioration of lung pathology, demonstrated by ameliorative edema and protein leakage, and improved pulmonary histopathological morphology. Meanwhile, the expression of inflammatory mediators and the infiltration of inflammation-regulation cells induced by LPS were also inhibited. In vitro experiments also revealed that AMTS could alleviate inflammation response and inhibit the exaggeration of macrophage M1 polarization in LPS-induced RAW264.7 cells. Mechanistically, we identified that AMTS treatment could attenuate the LPS-induced elevation of protein expression of p-IκBα, nuclear NF-κB-p65, COX2, iNOS, p-P38, p-ERK1/2, and p-JNK. This paper presents a comprehensive dataset intended to evaluate passive Human Activity Recognition (HAR) and localization techniques with measurements obtained from synchronized Radio-Frequency (RF) devices and vision-based sensors. The dataset consists of RF data including Channel State Information (CSI) extracted from a WiFi Network Interface Card (NIC), Passive WiFi Radar (PWR) built upon a Software Defined Radio (SDR) platform, and Ultra-Wideband (UWB) signals acquired via commercial off-the-shelf hardware. It also consists of vision/Infra-red based data acquired from Kinect sensors. Approximately 8 hours of annotated measurements are provided, which are collected across two rooms from 6 participants performing 6 daily activities. This dataset can be exploited to advance WiFi and vision-based HAR, for example, using pattern recognition, skeletal representation, deep learning algorithms or other novel approaches to accurately recognize human activities. Furthermore, it can potentially be used to passively track a human in an indoor environment. Obesity is a major public health issue worldwide. Oolong tea (OT), which is partially fermented from Camellia sinensis leaves, has proven health benefits and potential preventive applications in multiple studies. However, research on the role of OT in obesity prevention and potential mechanisms is still limited. The purpose of this study was to investigate the modulatory effects of OT intervention on high-fat diet (HFD)-induced obesity and gut microbiota dysbiosis using an obese mouse model. Our results showed that 8-week OT supplementation with 93.94% polyphenols significantly decreased body weight gain, adipose tissue mass, and serum levels of triglyceride (2.60 mmol/L), cholesterol (5.49 mmol/L), and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (0.61 mmol/L) in HFD-fed mice. Meanwhile, OT intervention was observed to improve fat accumulation, hepatic damage, glucose intolerance, and endotoxemia and alleviate inflammation by decreasing the levels of pro-inflammatory factors. OT also upregulated the expression of genes including Srebf1 , Ppara , Lxra , Pgc1a , and Hsl and downregulated the expression of genes including Leptin , Il-6 , and Il-1b . In addition, the gut dysbiosis characterized by decreased flora diversity and increased Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes ratio in obese mice was recovered by OT intervention. Certain differentially abundant microbes caused by HFD feeding, including Enterococcus , Intestinimonas , Blautia , and Bilophila , were also improved by OT treatment. Tumor-associated antigen mucin 1 (MUC1) is highly expressed in colorectal cancer and is positively correlated with advanced stage at diagnosis and poor patient outcomes. The combination of irinotecan and capecitabine is standard chemotherapy for metastatic colorectal cancer and is known as XELIRI or CAPIRI, which significantly prolongs the progression-free survival and overall survival of colorectal cancer patients compared to a single drug alone. We previously reported that peanut agglutinin (PNA)-conjugated liposomes showed enhanced drug delivery efficiency to MUC1-positive liver cancer cells. In this study, we prepared irinotecan hydrochloride (IRI) and capecitabine (CAP)-coloaded liposomes modified by peanut agglutinin (IRI/CAP-PNA-Lips) to target MUC1-positive colorectal cancer. The results showed that IRI/CAP-PNA-Lips showed an enhanced ability to target MUC1-positive colorectal cancer cells compared to unmodified liposomes. Treatment with IRI/CAP-PNA-Lips also increased the proportion of apoptotic cells and inhibited the proliferation of colorectal cancer cells. Background: The dysregulated expression of serum circular RNAs (circRNAs) has previously been linked to the prognosis of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients, but the clinical and prognostic relevance of serum hsa&#95;circ&#95;0079480 levels in this oncogenic setting have yet to be established. Herein, we assessed the putative prognostic relevance of circulating hsa&#95;circ&#95;0079480 levels in AML patient serum., Methods: Serum was prepared from blood samples collected from 236 AML patients and 160 healthy controls, with hsa&#95;circ&#95;0079480 levels therein being quantified by quantitative real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) after which the clinical value of these levels was assessed., Results: Acute myeloid leukemia patients were found to exhibit significant hsa&#95;circ&#95;0079480 upregulation in their serum as compared to serum from healthy controls, with such upregulation being most profound in individuals with M4/M5 type disease and to be more common in patients with poor cytogenic risk or high white blood cell counts. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves demonstrated that serum hsa&#95;circ&#95;0079480 levels were able to effectively differentiate between patients with AML and healthy controls. Moreover, the upregulation of serum hsa&#95;circ&#95;0079480 was found to be closely related to clinicopathological findings and to be an independent predictor of reduced overall and relapse-free survival among individuals diagnosed with AML. Furthermore, serum hsa&#95;circ&#95;0079480 levels were markedly decreased after treatment in this patient population, with these levels being lower in patients that achieved complete remission as compared to those patients that did not., Conclusion: Levels of hsa&#95;circ&#95;0079480 in patient serum may offer value as a prognostic biomarker in AML., (© 2022 The Authors.
