- Abstract
Aim of study: This study was conducted to determine the usability of some clonal rootstocks of apple (MM 106 and MM 111), pear (Fox 11), and quince (Quince A) for hawthorn trees propagation. Area of study: Fruit Research Institute, Isparta and Hatay Mustafa Kemal University, Hatay, Türkiye.Material and methods: ‘Sultan’ hawthorn cultivar was budded on the following clonal rootstocks: pear Fox 11, quince A, and apple MM 106 and MM 111. Plants of hawthorn seedlings (Crataegus azarolus L.) budded with ‘Sultan’ cv. were used as control. External visual diagnosis of the scion-rootstock graft combinations was performed by observing visual symptoms in budded trees growing in nursery conditions, as well as anatomic and histological investigations of the in-compatibility in the laboratory. Main results: In this study, healthy scion development and callus tissue in the graft region were formed in the seed-ling rootstock as well as on Fox11 and Quince A clonal rootstocks. In contrast, MM 106 and MM 111 apple rootstocks showed incompatibility symptoms, with insufficient scion vigor and unstructured callus tissue development. Research highlights: ‘Tanslocated’ and ‘located’ graft incompatibility symptoms were observed in Sultan/MM 106 and Sultan/MM 111 combinations. Further studies are necessary to confirm the early good compatibility found in nursery conditions, testing the effect of those clonal rootstocks from different species (Fox11 and Quince A) on vigor, yield, and fruit quality traits in orchard conditions.

Although its high prevalence, different phenotypes, heterogeneous clinicpresentations related to age and ethnical differences; result in diagnostic dilemmasfor both the clinicians and the patients. The exact pathophsiology of PCOS isyet to be defined. PCOS is thought tobe a multi-systemic disease currently. Inany case, both insulin resistance and hyperandrogenemia, and the presence ofboth conclude with an increased long-term risk of patients for obesity, dyslypidemi, insulin resistance with compensatuar hyperinsulinemia, metabolicsyndrome and cardiovascular diseases. Reproductive, metabolic, systemic, orpsychological effects of PCOS may come into prominence separately in differentperiods of life. Although the comorbidities of PCOS are mostly known, thealgorithms related to optimal screening, total risk assessment, and clinicalmanagement are still controversial for comorbidities in this patient group. While thediagnosis and treatment planning for the complaints, the heterogeneous natureof the disease is generally ignored, and there is often insufficientconsultation on the comorbidities and long-term risks of the disease. Howeverthere is a marked clinical variation in the course of the disease throughoutlife, medical problems associated with PCOS may reappear with additionalcomorbidities in the chronic process. The aim of this review is to examine therecommendations with respect to the 2018 International Evidence Based PCOSAssessment and Management Guideline (2018 PCOS Guideline) in terms of concomitantco morbid diseases and long-term risks related to PCOS.

Land use and land cover (LULC),CORINE,SPOT 5,The Adapazari plain - Abstract
The objective of the study is determination of land use and land cover patterns of Adapazari plain and its surroundings by image classification. The study area is located in northwest of Turkey between coordinates of 40°37- 40°57 N and 30°1230°46 E and approximately 140 km east of Istanbul. Plain has become by the accumulation of sediments carried by Sakarya River and its tributaries. Adapazari Plain is a fertile agricultural area because of its favourable natural conditions. However, because of its closeness to Istanbul, population stress has gradually increased, so industrialization and urbanization has been accelerated in the plain. In this study, SPOT-5 satellite image is used to determination of land use and land cover characteristics of research area. The image is analyzed by using data images processing techniques in ERDAS Imagine© 10.0 and ArcGIS© 10.0 software. Land cover nomenclature is classified according to the CORINE (Coordination of Information on the Environment) Level 2 Classification (1-Urban fabric, 2-Heterogeneous agricultural areas, 3-Forests and 4-Inland wetlands) and Level 3 Classification (1-Industrial units, 2-Roads) . Furthermore, the image analysis results are confirmed by the field research

SURVIVIN (Protein) , *TOLL-like receptors , *PROGRESSION-free survival , *CASPASES , *OVARIAN cancer , *PROGNOSIS - Abstract
Ovarian cancer is the most lethal gynecologic malignancy. Recent studies have shown that expression levels of toll like receptor (TLR) 4, survivin and caspase-3 in cancerous tissue may have a prognostic value in many cancer types including ovarian cancer. In the present study, we aimed to investigate the relationship between immunohistochemical expression of TLR4, survivin and caspase-3 and also to assess the effects on clinicopathological variables and survival parameters. Eighty four patients with ovarian cancer who treated between 2011 and 2019 were reviewed retrospectively. TLR4, survivin and caspase-3 levels that were obtained with immunohistochemistry from the tumor embedded in paraffin blocks. TLR4 expression was found higher in advanced stage compared to the early stage disease (p= 0.034). TLR4 positivity was inversely associated with lower caspase-3 expresion (p= 0.03) and survivin expression was closely related to capsule rupture (p= 0.037). Kaplan-Meier analysis demonstrated that stage, grade, lymphovascular invasion, and platinum sensitivity were significantly associated with progression free survival. Stage and adjuvant chemotherapy were also found to be significantly associated with overall survival. In Cox multivariate analysis, comparison according to lower versus higher TLR4 expression demonstrated that higher TLR4 expression was significantly associated with decreased overall survival (HR: 0.303; 95% CI: 0.109 to 0.847; p= 0.023). But, there was no association between survival parameters and either survivin or caspase-3 levels. As a result, TLR4 expression may have a prognostic role in ovarian cancer. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

WOS: 000338633500049, PubMed: 24870768, Background: To evaluate the incidence, diagnosis and management of GTN among 28 centers in Turkey. Materials and Methods: A retrospective study was designed to include GTN patients attending 28 centers in the 10-year period between January 2003 and May 2013. Demographical characteristics of the patients, histopathological diagnosis, the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) anatomical and prognostic scores, use of single-agent and multi-agent chemotherapy, surgical interventions and prognosis were evaluated. Results: From 2003-2013, there were 1,173,235 deliveries and 456 GTN cases at the 28 centers. The incidence was calculated to be 0.38 per 1,000 deliveries. According to the evaluated data of 364 patients, the median age at diagnosis was 31 years (range, 15-59 years). A histopathological diagnosis was present for 45.1% of the patients, and invasive mole, choriocarcinoma and PSTTs were diagnosed in 22.3% (n=81), 18.1% (n=66) and 4.7% (n=17) of the patients, respectively. Regarding final prognosis, 352 (96.7%) of the patients had remission, and 7 (1.9%) had persistence, whereas the disease was mortal for 5 (1.4%) of the patients. Conclusions: Because of the differences between countries, it is important to provide national registration systems and special clinics for the accurate diagnosis and treatment of GTN.

- Abstract
Background: Tumor size is an independent predictor of lymph node metastasis and survival in the endometrioid type endometrial adenocarcinoma (EC). However, some of the ECs tend to grow towards the cavity in the polypoid pattern, which can reach very large sizes. In this study, we aimed to analyze the association of growing in the polypoid pattern of the tumor with the proportion of lymph node metastasis and extrauterine tumor spread., Methods: Four hundred seven patients were analyzed retrospectively. The effect of tumor size, tumor growing pattern, myometrial invasion, grade, and lymphovascular space invasion on the lymph node metastasis and extrauterine tumor spread were investigated. Statistical analysis consisted of unpaired t-tests for parametric data and Mann Whitney-U test for non-parametric data, whereas the Chi-square test for categorical variables. Logistic Regression, Cox Regression and multivariate analysis were used to estimate the risk predictors., Results: No association was found between the growing in polypoid pattern and lymph node metastasis (P > 0.05). In the analysis of endometrioid type EC patients who had myometrial invasion less than ½ as a subgroup, no association was found between the growing pattern and lymph node metastasis and extrauterine disease. Tumor size was found to be a statistically significant predictor of lymph node metastasis and extrauterine disease (P < 0.05)., Conclusions: Lymphovascular space invasion, grade, and myometrial invasion are associated with a higher proportion of lymph node metastasis. The polypoid growth pattern of the tumor does not correlate with any histopathological parameters.
