Abstract

We have addressed the challenge to carry out the angular tilt stabilization of a laser guiding mirror which is intended to route a laser beam with a high energy density. Such an application requires good angular accuracy as well as large operating range, long term stability and absolute positioning. We have designed an instrument for such a high precision angular tilt measurement based on a triangulation method where a laser beam with Gaussian profile is reflected off the stabilized mirror and detected by an image sensor. As the angular deflection of the mirror causes a change of the beam spot position, the principal task is to measure the position on the image chip surface. We have employed a numerical analysis of the Gaussian intensity pattern which uses the nonlinear regression algorithm. The feasibility and performance of the method were tested by numeric modeling as well as experimentally. The experimental results indicate that the assembled instrument achieves a measurement error of 0.13 microradian in the range +-0.65 degrees over the period of one hour. Abstract

The laser spectroscopy is a fundamental approach for the realisation of traceable optical frequency standards. In the $1.55\,\mu$m wavelength band, widely used in telecommunications, the acetylene is the typical and the most widespread absorption media. We present our investigation of using the hydrogen cyanide (HCN) as a cost-efficient and readily available alternative, that also provides a wider frequency span (from $1527\,$nm to $1563\,$nm). We have compared the practical aspects of using new absorption media in comparison to existing experience with the acetylene with an outlook to carry out an independent measurement of the entire spectra. The results should contribute to the future inclusion of the HCN spectroscopic data into the Mise en pratique, thus allowing for the use of HCN as a reference for the realisation of traceable laser standards., Comment: CPS 2018, Lednice, CZ, September 2018; 7 pages, 7 figures

Abstract

We report on a traceable calibration system for a 3500mm-long console that carries a measurement system for inspecting the diameter of a circular reactor chassis. The system uses two single-pass laser interferometers with homodyne fringe detection for measurement in two degrees of freedom. The hybrid FPGA-microcontroller control module carries out the fringe detection together with the application-specific scale linearization approach and the compensation of environmental influences such as thermal elongation and the refractive index of air fluctuations. 4. Hybrid Keys in Practice: Combining Classical, Quantum and Post-Quantum Cryptography

Abstract

Currently, with the threat of quantum computer attacks, the idea of combining several same-type primitives has reemerged. This is also the case for cryptographic keys where a hybrid quantum key exchange combination allows for preserving the security guarantees of pre-quantum schemes and achieving quantum resistance of post-quantum schemes. In this article, we present a concrete 3-key combiner system implemented on a Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) platform. Our system involves a pre-quantum Key EXchange scheme (KEX), a post-quantum key encapsulation mechanism, and a Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) algorithm. The proposed 3-key combiner is proven to be secure in the quantum standard model and it is INDistinguishable under a Chosen-Ciphertext Attack (IND-CCA). Our combiner can run in small FPGA platforms due to its relatively low resources usage. In particular, the key combiner without QKD is able to output up to 1 624 keys per second and the key combiner with QKD is able to output up to 9.2 keys per second.

Abstract

We present the results of P-to-S receiver function analysis to improve the 3D image of the sedimentary layer, the upper crust, and lower crust in the Pannonian Basin area. The Pannonian Basin hosts deep sedimentary depocentres superimposed on a complex basement structure and it is surrounded by mountain belts. We processed waveforms from 221 three-component broadband seismological stations. As a result of the dense station coverage, we were able to achieve so far unprecedented spatial resolution in determining the velocity structure of the crust. We applied a three-fold quality control process; the first two being applied to the observed waveforms and the third to the calculated radial receiver functions. This work is the first comprehensive receiver function study of the entire region. To prepare the inversions, we performed station-wise H-Vp/Vs grid search, as well as Common Conversion Point migration. Our main focus was then the S-wave velocity structure of the area, which we determined by the Neighborhood Algorithm inversion method at each station, where data were sub-divided into back-azimuthal bundles based on similar Ps delay times. The 1D, nonlinear inversions provided the depth of the discontinuities, shear-wave velocities and Vp/Vs ratios of each layer per bundle, and we calculated uncertainty values for each of these parameters. We then developed a 3D interpolation method based on natural neighbor interpolation to obtain the 3D crustal structure from the local inversion results. We present the sedimentary thickness map, the first Conrad depth map and an improved, detailed Moho map, as well as the first upper and lower crustal thickness maps obtained from receiver function analysis. The velocity jump across the Conrad discontinuity is estimated at less than 0.2 km/s over most of the investigated area. We also compare the new Moho map from our approach to simple grid search results and prior knowledge from other techniques. Our Moho depth map presents local variations in the investigated area: the crust-mantle boundary is at 20–26 km beneath the sedimentary basins, while it is situated deeper below the Apuseni Mountains, Transdanubian and North Hungarian Ranges (28–33 km), and it is the deepest beneath the Eastern Alps and the Southern Carpathians (40–45 km). These values reflect well the Neogene evolution of the region, such as crustal thinning of the Pannonian Basin and orogenic thickening in the neighboring mountain belts. Abstract

Objektivita, jako jeden ze základních atributů vědy, se stala nedílnou součástí jejího étosu i ústředním tématem filosofie vědy a jako taková byla reflektována řadou významných autorů. V rámci projektu, na němž participují jak filosofové vědy, tak vědci, zkoumáme pomocí metod experimentální filosofie koncept objektivity v současných přírodních vědách. Jedním z cílů je identifikace jednotlivých dimenzí tohoto konceptu, tedy těch, s nimiž současní vědci skutečně pracují, a tím jejich zpřístupnění pro další teoretické analýzy i výzkum. V tomto příspěvku předkládáme závěry z první, kvalitativní fáze výzkumu vycházející z individuálních i skupinových rozhovorů s vědci působícími v České republice. Tento empirický materiál konfrontujeme s některými teoretickými koncepty objektivity (Hacking, Crombie, Solomonová, Popper, Galison, Dastonová, Quine, Kuhn a další). Zároveň zde uvádíme řadu konkrétních poznatků ze současné české vědy a formulujeme hypotézy pro další (tj. kvantitativní a experimentální) fáze výzkumu. Objectivity, as one of the key attributes of science, has become an indispensable part of its ethos and a central theme of the philosophy of science. As such, it has been the subject of philosophical reflection by a number of authors. In our project – in which both philosophers of science and scientists participate – we examine the concept of objectivity in the natural sciences with experimental philosophy tools. We aim to identify specific operational dimensions of objectivity, those with which current scientist actually work, thus making them accessible for further theoretical analysis and research. In this text, we present results from the first, qualitative phase of our research based on in-depth interviews and focus groups with scientists working in the Czech Republic. Further, we confront this empirical data with the theoretical notions of objectivity (Hacking, Crombie, Solomon, Popper, Galison, Daston, Quine, Kuhn and others). We also present other findings from the research and formulate hypotheses for later phases of the research (quantitative and experimental).

Abstract

The region around the town Albstadt, SW Germany, was struck by four damaging earthquakes with magnitudes greater than 5 during the last century. These earthquakes occurred along the Albstadt Shear Zone (ASZ), which is characterized by more or less continuous microseismicity. As there are no visible surface ruptures that may be connected to the fault zone, we study its characteristics by its seismicity distribution and faulting pattern. We use the earthquake data of the state earthquake service of Baden-Württemberg from 2011 to 2018 and complement it with additional phase picks beginning in 2016 at the AlpArray and StressTransfer seismic networks in the vicinity of the ASZ. This extended data set is used to determine new minimum 1-D seismic vp and vs velocity models and corresponding station delay times for earthquake relocation. Fault plane solutions are determined for selected events, and the principal stress directions are derived. The minimum 1-D seismic velocity models have a simple and stable layering with increasing velocity with depth in the upper crust. The corresponding station delay times can be explained well by the lateral depth variation of the crystalline basement. The relocated events align about north–south with most of the seismic activity between the towns of Tübingen and Albstadt, east of the 9∘ E meridian. The events can be separated into several subclusters that indicate a segmentation of the ASZ. The majority of the 25 determined fault plane solutions feature an NNE–SSW strike but NNW–SSE-striking fault planes are also observed. The main fault plane associated with the ASZ dips steeply, and the rake indicates mainly sinistral strike-slip, but we also find minor components of normal and reverse faulting. The determined direction of the maximum horizontal stress of 140–149∘ is in good agreement with prior studies. Down to ca. 7–8 km depth SHmax is bigger than SV; below this depth, SV is the main stress component. The direction of SHmax indicates that the stress field in the area of the ASZ is mainly generated by the regional plate driving forces and the Alpine topography.

Abstract

The recent development of ambient noise tomography, in combination with the increasing number of permanent seismic stations and dense networks of temporary stations operated during passive seismic experiments, provides a unique opportunity to build the first high-resolution 3-D shear wave velocity (vS) model of the entire crust of the Bohemian Massif (BM). This paper provides a regional-scale model of velocity distribution in the BM crust. The velocity model with a cell size of 22 km is built using a conventional two-step inversion approach from Rayleigh wave group velocity dispersion curves measured at more than 400 stations. The shear velocities within the upper crust of the BM are ∼0.2 km s−1 higher than those in its surroundings. The highest crustal velocities appear in its southern part, the Moldanubian unit. The Cadomian part of the region has a thinner crust, whereas the crust assembled, or tectonically transformed in the Variscan period, is thicker. The sharp Moho discontinuity preserves traces of its dynamic development expressed in remnants of Variscan subductions imprinted in bands of crustal thickening. A significant feature of the presented model is the velocity-drop interface (VDI) modelled in the lower part of the crust. We explain this feature by the anisotropic fabric of the lower crust, which is characterised as vertical transverse isotropy with the low velocity being the symmetry axis. The VDI is often interrupted around the boundaries of the crustal units, usually above locally increased velocities in the lowermost crust. Due to the north-west–south-east shortening of the crust and the late-Variscan strike-slip movements along the north-east–south-west oriented sutures preserved in the BM lithosphere, the anisotropic fabric of the lower crust was partly or fully erased along the boundaries of original microplates. These weakened zones accompanied by a velocity increase above the Moho (which indicate an emplacement of mantle rocks into the lower crust) can represent channels through which portions of subducted and later molten rocks have percolated upwards providing magma to subsequently form granitoid plutons.

Abstract

We compiled a dataset of continuous recordings from the temporary and permanent seismic networks to compute the high-resolution 3D S-wave velocity model of the Southeastern Alps, the western part of the external Dinarides, and the Friuli and Venetian plains through ambient noise tomography. Part of the dataset is recorded by the SWATH-D temporary network and permanent networks in Italy, Austria, Slovenia and Croatia between October 2017 and July 2018. We computed 4050 vertical component cross-correlations to obtain the empirical Rayleigh wave Green’s functions. The dataset is complemented by adopting 1804 high-quality correlograms from other studies. The fast-marching method for 2D surface wave tomography is applied to the phase velocity dispersion curves in the 2–30 s period band. The resulting local dispersion curves are inverted for 1D S-wave velocity profiles using the non-perturbational and perturbational inversion methods. We assembled the 1D S-wave velocity profiles into a pseudo-3D S-wave velocity model from the surface down to 60 km depth. A range of iso-velocities, representing the crystalline basement depth and the crustal thickness, are determined. We found the average depth over the 2.8–3.0 and 4.1–4.3 km/s iso-velocity ranges to be reasonable representations of the crystalline basement and Moho depths, respectively. The basement depth map shows that the shallower crystalline basement beneath the Schio-Vicenza fault highlights the boundary between the deeper Venetian and Friuli plains to the east and the Po-plain to the west. The estimated Moho depth map displays a thickened crust along the boundary between the Friuli plain and the external Dinarides. It also reveals a N-S narrow corridor of crustal thinning to the east of the junction of Giudicarie and Periadriatic lines, which was not reported by other seismic imaging studies. This corridor of shallower Moho is located beneath the surface outcrop of the Permian magmatic rocks and seems to be connected to the continuation of the Permian magmatism to the deep-seated crust. We compared the shallow crustal velocities and the hypocentral location of the earthquakes in the Southern foothills of the Alps. It revealed that the seismicity mainly occurs in the S-wave velocity range between ∼3.1 and ∼3.6 km/s.

Abstract

SUMMARYProbing seismic anisotropy of the lithosphere provides valuable clues on the fabric of rocks. We present a 3-D probabilistic model of shear wave velocity and radial anisotropy of the crust and uppermost mantle of Europe, focusing on the mountain belts of the Alps and Apennines. The model is built from Love and Rayleigh dispersion curves in the period range 5–149 s. Data are extracted from seismic ambient noise recorded at 1521 broad-band stations, including the AlpArray network. The dispersion curves are first combined in a linearized least squares inversion to obtain 2-D maps of group velocity at each period. Love and Rayleigh maps are then jointly inverted at depth for shear wave velocity and radial anisotropy using a Bayesian Monte Carlo scheme that accounts for the trade-off between radial anisotropy and horizontal layering. The isotropic part of our model is consistent with previous studies. However, our anisotropy maps differ from previous large scale studies that suggested the presence of significant radial anisotropy everywhere in the European crust and shallow upper mantle. We observe instead that radial anisotropy is mostly localized beneath the Apennines while most of the remaining European crust and shallow upper mantle is isotropic. We attribute this difference to trade-offs between radial anisotropy and thin (hectometric) layering in previous studies based on least-squares inversions and long period data (>30 s). In contrast, our approach involves a massive data set of short period measurements and a Bayesian inversion that accounts for thin layering. The positive radial anisotropy (VSH > VSV) observed in the lower crust of the Apennines cannot result from thin layering. We rather attribute it to ductile horizontal flow in response to the recent and present-day extension in the region.

Abstract

SUMMARYTo constrain seismic anisotropy under and around the Alps in Europe, we study SKS shear wave splitting from the region densely covered by the AlpArray seismic network. We apply a technique based on measuring the splitting intensity, constraining well both the fast orientation and the splitting delay. Four years of teleseismic earthquake data were processed, from 723 temporary and permanent broad-band stations of the AlpArray deployment including ocean-bottom seismometers, providing a spatial coverage that is unprecedented. The technique is applied automatically (without human intervention), and it thus provides a reproducible image of anisotropic structure in and around the Alpine region. As in earlier studies, we observe a coherent rotation of fast axes in the western part of the Alpine chain, and a region of homogeneous fast orientation in the Central Alps. The spatial variation of splitting delay times is particularly interesting though. On one hand, there is a clear positive correlation with Alpine topography, suggesting that part of the seismic anisotropy (deformation) is caused by the Alpine orogeny. On the other hand, anisotropic strength around the mountain chain shows a distinct contrast between the Western and Eastern Alps. This difference is best explained by the more active mantle flow around the Western Alps. The new observational constraints, especially the splitting delay, provide new information on Alpine geodynamics.

Abstract

Kyber is one of the three finalists of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) post-quantum cryptography competition. This article presents an optimized Very High Speed Integrated Circuit Hardware Description Language (VHDL)-based implementation of the main components of the Kyber scheme, namely Number-Theoretic Transform (NTT) and Keccak. We focus specifically on NTT, Keccak and their derivatives since they largely determine Kyber's performance due to their wide involvement in each step of the scheme. Our high-speed implementation also takes into account the trade-off between the degree of parallelization and the resources utilization. The NTT component is more than 27\% faster than the state-of-the-art implementations. Furthermore, the optimization helps the algorithm to achieve 1 572 839 NTT operations per second.

Abstract

In this study, we analyzed a large seismological dataset from temporary and permanent networks in the southern and eastern Alps to establish high-precision hypocenters and 1-D VP and VP/VS models. The waveform data of a subset of local earthquakes with magnitudes in the range of 1–4.2 ML were recorded by the dense, temporary SWATH-D network and selected stations of the AlpArray network between September 2017 and the end of 2018. The first arrival times of P and S waves of earthquakes are determined by a semi-automatic procedure. We applied a Markov chain Monte Carlo inversion method to simultaneously calculate robust hypocenters, a 1-D velocity model, and station corrections without prior assumptions, such as initial velocity models or earthquake locations. A further advantage of this method is the derivation of the model parameter uncertainties and noise levels of the data. The precision estimates of the localization procedure is checked by inverting a synthetic travel time dataset from a complex 3-D velocity model and by using the real stations and earthquakes geometry. The location accuracy is further investigated by a quarry blast test. The average uncertainties of the locations of the earthquakes are below 500 m in their epicenter and ∼ 1.7 km in depth. The earthquake distribution reveals seismicity in the upper crust (0–20 km), which is characterized by pronounced clusters along the Alpine frontal thrust, e.g., the Friuli-Venetia (FV) region, the Giudicarie–Lessini (GL) and Schio-Vicenza domains, the Austroalpine nappes, and the Inntal area. Some seismicity also occurs along the Periadriatic Fault. The general pattern of seismicity reflects head-on convergence of the Adriatic indenter with the Alpine orogenic crust. The seismicity in the FV and GL regions is deeper than the modeled frontal thrusts, which we interpret as indication for southward propagation of the southern Alpine deformation front (blind thrusts).

Abstract

Highlights • Rayleigh-wave phase velocity in the wider Dinarides region using the two-station method. • Uppermost mantle shear-wave velocity model of the Dinarides-Adriatic Sea region. • Velocity model reveals a robust high-velocity anomaly present under the whole Dinarides. • High-velocity anomaly reaches depth of 160 km in the northern Dinarides to more than 200 km under southern Dinarides. • New structural model incorporating delamination as one of the processes controlling the continental collision in the Dinarides. The interaction between the Adriatic microplate (Adria) and Eurasia is the main driving factor in the central Mediterranean tectonics. Their interplay has shaped the geodynamics of the whole region and formed several mountain belts including Alps, Dinarides and Apennines. Among these, Dinarides are the least investigated and little is known about the underlying geodynamic processes. There are numerous open questions about the current state of interaction between Adria and Eurasia under the Dinaric domain. One of the most interesting is the nature of lithospheric underthrusting of Adriatic plate, e.g. length of the slab or varying slab disposition along the orogen. Previous investigations have found a low-velocity zone in the uppermost mantle under the northern-central Dinarides which was interpreted as a slab gap. Conversely, several newer studies have indicated the presence of the continuous slab under the Dinarides with no trace of the low velocity zone. Thus, to investigate the Dinaric mantle structure further, we use regional-to-teleseismic surface-wave records from 98 seismic stations in the wider Dinarides region to create a 3D shear-wave velocity model. More precisely, a two-station method is used to extract Rayleigh-wave phase velocity while tomography and 1D inversion of the phase velocity are employed to map the depth dependent shear-wave velocity. Abstract

This paper is focused on the effective hardware-accelerated implementation of NTT (NumberTheoretic Transform) and inverse NTT (NTT-1) on FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array).The discussed implementation is intended for the use in the lattice-based cryptography schemes, e.g.CRYSTALS-Dilithium digital signature scheme which is one of the finalists of the third round in thepost-quantum standardization process under the auspices of NIST (The National Institute of Standardsand Technology). The implementation of NTT (NTT-1) requires 1798 (2547) Look-Up Tables(LUTs), 2532 (3889) Flip-Flops (FFs) and 48 (84) Digital Signal Processing blocks (DSPs). The latencyof the design is 502 (517) clock cycles at the frequency 637 MHz on Xilinx Virtex UltraScale+architecture which makes the presented implementation to be currently the fastest one. Regarding theinverse NTT, this is the first implementation at all.

Abstract

In this study, we analyzed a large seismological dataset from temporary and permanent networks in the southern and eastern Alps to establish high-precision hypocenters and 1-D VP and VP/VS models. The waveform data of a subset of local earthquakes with magnitudes in the range of 1–4.2 ML were recorded by the dense, temporary SWATH-D network and selected stations of the AlpArray network between September 2017 and the end of 2018. The first arrival times of P and S waves of earthquakes are determined by a semi-automatic procedure. We applied a Markov chain Monte Carlo inversion method to simultaneously calculate robust hypocenters, a 1-D velocity model, and station corrections without prior assumptions, such as initial velocity models or earthquake locations. A further advantage of this method is the derivation of the model parameter uncertainties and noise levels of the data. The geometry of the down-going slab varies from the deeper slab in the north and south to the shallower underthrusting in the center. On-top of both north and south slabs there is a low-velocity wedge indicating lithospheric delamination which could explain the 200 km deep high-velocity body existing under the southern Dinarides.

Abstract

The laser head with fixed focus optics is commonly used for the deep penetration laser welding. In such case the geometry and position of the beam waist are defined by the focusing lens. If the laser beam incident on the focusing lens is not well collimated but divergent and its divergence can be varied by proper adaptive optical elements, then also the geometry and position of the focus will be changeable. In this way it is possible to affect the energy coupling from the laser beam to the keyhole walls and thus to control the geometry and quality of the weld. In this paper we present a theoretical and numerical study of the beam shaping by adaptive optics and its influence on the weld quality. For the CO2 laser welding machine the adaptive optics was realized by a deformable mirror and itsti’ect was tested also experimentally. For the solid-state laser welding machine we designed a laser head with changeable distance between the optical fiber and the collimating lens and we simulated its performance.

Abstract

The AlpArray programme is a multinational, European consortium to advance our understanding of orogenesis and its relationship to mantle dynamics, plate reorganizations, surface processes and seismic hazard in the Alps–Apennines–Carpathians–Dinarides orogenic system. The AlpArray Seismic Network has been deployed with contributions from 36 institutions from 11 countries to map physical properties of the lithosphere and asthenosphere in 3D and thus to obtain new, high-resolution geophysical images of structures from the surface down to the base of the mantle transition zone. With over 600 broadband stations operated for 2 years, this seismic experiment is one of the largest simultaneously operated seismological networks in the academic domain, employing hexagonal coverage with station spacing at less than 52 km. This dense and regularly spaced experiment is made possible by the coordinated coeval deployment of temporary stations from numerous national pools, including ocean-bottom seismometers, which were funded by different national agencies. They combine with permanent networks, which also required the cooperation of many different operators. Together these stations ultimately fill coverage gaps. Following a short overview of previous large-scale seismological experiments in the Alpine region, we here present the goals, construction, deployment, characteristics and data management of the AlpArray Seismic Network, which will provide data that is expected to be unprecedented in quality to image the complex Alpine mountains at depth., Surveys in Geophysics, 39 (5), ISSN:0169-3298, ISSN:1573-0956

Abstract

This paper describes design and construction of a noise meter, which measures sound pressure level. The device can be set either for weighting filter A or for weighting filter C considering the characteristics of human hearing. The device also allows two modes, Fast and Slow, depending on the rate of changes of sound pressure level. It is possible to send measured data to a PC through a measuring application. The noise meter can be controlled by buttons or by voice commands.

On 21 April 2011, an adult male of the Schreibers' bat (Miniopterus schreibersii) was caught in the Hranická propast (Hranická Chasm, 49° 32' N, 17° 45' E, 315 m a. s. l., Hranice na Moravě, Přerov District), from a crevice of the chasm wall above a pond. This record represents the first evidence of this bat species as well as a new family in the Czech Republic. It documents the affinity of marginal populations of the species to warmer cave systems. 39. Tunable extended-cavity diode laser stabilized on iodine at λ = 633 nm

Abstract

We present a tunable extended-cavity semiconductor laser, based on the Littman configuration, which has been frequency-stabilized to Doppler-free hyperfine transitions in I_2. The stability was measured compared with the reference He–Ne–I_2 laser system, whereas the semiconductor laser was locked on components of the P(33) 6—3 transition close enough to the reference R(127) 11—5 line to allow beat frequency counting. A relative stability of 4 × 10^-12 over a 100-s integration time was achieved. The laser configuration allowed mode-hop-free tuning over a range including the P(33) 6—3 transition and the group of strong overlapping transitions R(60) 8—4, R(125) 9—4, and P(54) 8—4 with higher signal-to-noise ratio than the P(33) 6—3 located approximately 13 GHz toward lower optical frequencies.

Abstract

Zámer tejto práce je vyvinúť a implementovať webovú aplikáciu demonštrujúcu kryptografiu založenú na mriežkach. Aplikácia bola vyvinutá použitím programovacieho jazyku Python a kontajnerizačnej platformy Docker. Špecifickejšie, implementované moduly používajú knižnicu Bokeh a vlastnú JavaScript funkcionalitu, ktorá rozširuje danú knižnicu Bokeh. Tieto moduly sú poskytované serverom Flask, kde taktiež prebiehajú všetky výpočty pomocou knižnice numPy. Aplikácia obsahuje tri moduly popisujúce problém najbližšieho vektora, problém učenia s chybami a Boyenov kryptografický protokol založený na predchádzajúcom probléme. Užívatelia majú možnosť vizualizovať dvojdimenzionálne mriežky a prevádzať vybrané výpočty. Zdrojový kód je jednoducho rozšíriteľný a môže slúžiť ako náučná platforma. Práca taktiež obsahuje inštalačný a používateľský manuál., The aim of this thesis is to develop and implement a web application demonstrating lattice-based cryptography. The application was developed using mainly the Python programming language and Docker container platform. More specifically, the modules utilize the Bokeh library and custom JavaScript functionality expanding the Bokeh library. The modules are hosted on a Flask server where the background calculations are being computed using numPy library. The application contains three modules describing the closest vector problem, learning with errors problem and the Boyen cryptographic protocol based on the latter problem. Users are able to visualize two dimensional lattices and perform selected computations. The codebase is easily expandable and can serve as a learning platform. The thesis also includes installation and user manual.

Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na rozšíření existujícího VoIP komunikátoru na jednodeskovém počítači Raspberry Pi, který využívá protokolu SIP. Práce přináší mimo jiné rozšíření o jednosměrný přenos videa a podmíněné sepnutí relé. Výsledný komunikátor je schopen uskutečnit hovor s oboustrannou komunikací, spustit definovaný kód po autorizaci volaného uživatele pomocí DTMF kódů a sepnout relé. Celé zařízení je uloženo v krabičce, vytisknuté na 3D tiskárně. IT bezpečnost navrženého řešení byla analyzována a kód i 3D model šasi jsou dostupné na GitHubu., This bachelor thesis focuses on the extension of an existing VoIP communicator on a single board computer Raspberry Pi, which uses the SIP protocol. The thesis introduces, among other things, an extension for one-way video transmission and conditional relay switching. The resulting communicator is able to make a call with two-way communication, execute a defined code using DTMF codes after authorization of the called user and switch a relay. The entire device is housed in a box printed on a 3D printer. The IT security of the proposed solution has been analyzed and the code and 3D model of the chassis are available on GitHub.

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá implementací únikové hry ve formě webové aplikace. Tématem jednotlivých místností je kryptografie v mnoha podobách. Konkrétně se uživatel aplikace zabývá modulární aritmetikou, systémem pro šifrování dat včetně jeho menších částí, jako je u Advanced Encryption Standard, nebo také základy síťové bezpečnosti. Hlavními cíli bakalářské práce je seznámení se s tématem únikových her, webových aplikací a realizace webové aplikace. Úniková hra obsahuje celkem čtyři pokoje. Práce popisuje volbu technologií, na kterých aplikace bude postavena, a postup implementace jednotlivých místností včetně možností řešení úkolů. V samotném závěru pak shrnuje dosažené výsledky a cíle., The thesis deals with the implementation of the escape room game in the form of a~web application. The topic of each room is cryptography in many forms. Concretely it is modular arithmetic, a system for data encryption, including its particular algorithms, as~Advanced Encryption Standard is, or network security basics. The main goals of the thesis are to get acquainted with the topic of escape games, web applications, and the realization of web applications. The escape game contains a total of~four rooms. The thesis describes the choice of technologies on which the application will be built and the implementation of individual rooms, including the possibility of~solving tasks. In the end, it summarizes the achieved results and goals.

This feature distinguishes FPGAs from Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs), which are custom manufactured for specific design tasks. Although one-time programmable (OTP) FPGAs are available, the dominant types are SRAM based which can be reprogrammed as the design evolves.

47. Implementace auto-negociace pro Ethernetové rozhraní o rychlostech 25-100 Gb/s

Abstract

Bakalářská práce se zabývá návrhem auto-negociační komponenty pro síťové karty řízené hradlovými poli. Funkce auto-negociace slouží pro dohodu parametrů síťového provozu mezi dvěma stranami síťového kanálu. Mezi dohodnutelné parametry patří komunikační rychlost, schopnost pozastavení provozu a schopnost provozovat Forward Error Correction (FEC). V úvodu jsou představeny vnitřní bloky architektury UltraScale+ společnosti Xilinx, kde je nejvíce pozornosti věnováno blokům GTY. Dále jsou představeny zásady klauzule 73, standardu IEEE 802.3-2018, jež popisuje mechanismus funkce auto-negociace. Návrh je proveden v jazyce VHDL pro linkovou komunikační rychlost 25~Gb/s a zahrnuje popis postupů a případných změn, které je nutno provést při implementaci zmíněné funkce na hradlových polích využívající vysokorychlostní transceivery. Následně byla funkčnost zapojení ověřena v simulacích, jejichž výsledky jsou poskytnuty rovněž v této práci. Na závěr bylo provedeno testování auto-negociační funkce obsluhované zde vytvořenou komponentou, pročež byla využita síťová karta řízená hradlovým polem Virtex 7 UltraScale+. Při testování bylo využito zavedení sond Integrated Logic Analyzer (ILA) do struktry návrhu. Dosažené výsledky testování, věnující se jak průběhu auto-negociace, tak procesům ve fyzické vrstvě, jsou zde náležitě okomentovány., This bachelor's thesis addresses the design of the auto-negotiation component for network interface cards controlled by FPGAs. Auto-negotiation function allows to advertise the available communication parameters, like the link speed, the transmission pause ability or Forward Error Correction (FEC) ability, by either side of the common link and determine the common abilities, which will be used to establish a connection. In the beginning, the internal parts of Xilinx UltraScale+ FPGA family are introduced with greater emphasis on the description of GTY transceivers. In the next chapter are introduced the mechanisms of auto-negotiation function as described in clause 73 of the IEEE 802.3-2018 standard. The design here is created for Ethernet interfaces running at speed 25~Gbps and is written in VHDL language. The next chapter describes the necessary steps which are required for the implementation on the FPGAs, where high-speed transceivers are in use. Function of the created design was then checked within a simulation and the correspondent results are also provided in this thesis. In the end, the testing of the designed auto-negotiation component took place for which the network card with Vitex 7 UltraScale+ FPGA was used. The testing process includes the use of the Integrated Logic Analyzer (ILA) which was inserted into final design. The achieved results from testing of both, the auto-negotiation process and surrounding physical layer processes, are described here with proper commentary.

Abstract

Bakalářská práce se zabývá implementací hardwarového generátoru náhodných čísel na FPGA obvodu. Snaží se přiblížit základní architekturu a možnou konfiguraci FPGA. V teoretické části jsou dále popsány principy generátorů náhodných čísel a poté statistické testy, skrze které tyto generátory hodnotíme. V následující části jsou shrnuty a analyzovány dosavadní generátory určené pro platformy FPGA. Dále probíhá bližší měření volně dostupných TRNG. V konečné části je popis implementace vlastního generátoru náhodných čísel. Ověřovaní náhodnosti probíhá skrze sadu testů NIST STS., The bachelor's thesis deals with the implementation of a hardware random number generator on FPGA platform. It tries to explain the basic architecture and possible FPGA configuration. In the theoretical part, the principles of random number generators are further described and then the statistical tests through which we evaluate these generators. In the following section, the existing generators designed for FPGA platforms are summarized and analyzed. A closer measurement of freely available TRNG is also underway. In the final part, there is a description of the implementation of the own random number generator. Randomness verification takes place through the NIST statistical test suite.

Tato diplomová práce je věnována problematice verifikací funkčních bloků pro FPGA. V teoretické části práce je popsán koncept verifikace, verifikačních metodologií, které poskytují potřebné nástroje pro otestování daného návrhu, a na závěr je diskutovaná problematika Ethernetu a jeho odlišnosti oproti nízkolatenční variantě. Cílem praktické části diplomové práce je na základě získaných teoretických znalostí a vybrané verifikační metodologie sestrojit verifikační prostředí, provést důkladnou verifikaci nízkolatenční fyzické vrstvy Ethernetu a na závěr realizovat měření latence a propustnosti tohoto obvodu., This master thesis is devoted to the issue of verification of function blocks for FPGA. The teoritical part of thesis describes the concept of verification, verification methodologies that provide the necessary tools for testing the design, and finally discusses the issue of Ethernet and its differences from the low-latency variant. The aim of the practical part of the master thesis is based on the acquired theoretical knowledge and selected verification methodology to build a verification environment, perform a thorough verification of the low-latency physical layer of Ethernet and finally measure the latency and throughput of this circuit.

Abstract

Bakalářská práce analyzuje možnosti aplikace kryptografických primitiv a protokolů na různá výpočetně a paměťově omezená zařízení. Následně implementuje systém bezpečného sběru dat ze senzorů. Práce ve své teoretické části rozebírá jednotlivé kryptografické algoritmy, operační systém RIOT a dostupné metody bezdrátového přenosu dat. Následně prezentuje výsledky výkonnostních testů různých kryptografických operací. Na tomto základě navrhne a realizuje systém, který zajišťuje důvěrnost, autentičnost a integritu přenášených dat., The bachelor thesis analyzes the possibilities of applying cryptographic primitives and protocols to various computationally and memory constrained devices. It then implements a secure data collection system from sensors. In its theoretical part, the work examines individual cryptographic algorithms, the RIOT operating system and available methods of wireless data transmission. It then presents the results of performance tests of various cryptographic operations. On this basis, it designs and implements a system that ensures the confidentiality, authenticity and integrity of transmitted data.
