Hybrid perovskites with reduced organic content have brought great interest for solar cells applications. Particularly, adding inorganic cations increase material stability, by providing an adequate tolerance factor. However, these cations lead to lower absorption coefficient than using only organic cations, therefore it is necessary to implement strategies for having films with appropriate thickness and good light absorption properties. In this work, several experiments were performed with ((Cs1-xDMAx)Pb(Br1-xIx)3 perovskite films of different thicknesses, resulting in devices with photovoltaic conversion efficiency (PCE) near 80% of the reference MAPbI3 cell, high purity phase, appropriate morphology, and higher stability. The perovskite successfully maintained integrity for 12 days in air with relative humidity between 30 and 40%, indicating the fulfillment of the study's objectives., Las perovskitas híbridas con contenido orgánico reducido han despertado gran interés en aplicaciones de celdas solares. En particular, la adición de cationes inorgánicos aumenta la estabilidad del material al proporcionar un factor de tolerancia adecuado. Sin embargo, estos cationes llevan a un coeficiente de absorción menor que al usar solo solo cationes orgánicos, por lo tanto, es necesario implementar estrategias para obtener películas con un espesor adecuado y buenas propiedades de absorción de luz. En este trabajo se realizaron varios experimentos con películas de perovskita ((Cs1-xDMAx)Pb(Br1-xIx)3) de diferentes espesores, lo que resultó en dispositivos con una eficiencia de conversión fotovoltaica (PCE) cercana al 80% de la celda de referencia MAPbI3, fase de alta pureza, morfología adecuada y mayor estabilidad. La perovskita mantuvo su integridad con éxito durante 12 días en aire con una humedad relativa entre el 30 y el 40%, lo que indica el cumplimiento de los objetivos del estudio.

Perovskite-based materials have been considered as the most promising materials in several solar-driven processes, especially photovoltaics. Some features such as high sunlight harvesting and improved carrier transport have been highlighted to have an impact on the efficiency of the above topics, but limited studies have pointed out their surface composition, which mainly influence the above abilities. As a starting point to recognize the surface environment and chemical states of these materials, x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy measurements were performed. Trication-mixed halide perovskite films based on Cs(0.08)MA(0.18)FA(0.78)PbBr(0.42)I(2.58)were prepared by a one step process and deposited on an indium tin oxide substrate by spin-coating. Survey spectra, Pb 4f, I 3d, Br 3d, Cs 3d, C 1s, N 1s, Pb 4d, and Pb 5d core levels, and valence band spectra were measured for the semiconductor sample. Results exhibit symmetrical peaks, indicating that a homogenous solid solution was achieved. Main chemical states of this kind of perovskites such as Cs-Br and Pb-I species are also shown. We deduced that the later signals are associated with the [PbI6](4-)octahedra existing in the perovskite lattice, while the former one is related to Cs(+)bounded to [PbBr6](4-)units on the perovskite surface. Interestingly, the NR(4)(+)signal was also identified, associated with the presence of methylammonium and formamidinium cations., Perovskitové materiály jsou považovány za jedny z nejslibnějších materiálů pro světlem řízení procesy, zejména pro fotovoltaiku. Některé jejich vlasnosti, jako např. Vysoký sorpční koeficient a dobrý přenos náboje jsou klíčové pro jejich fungování v těchto aplikacích. Povrchové vlastnosti perovskitů nebyly doposud tak studovány, ačkoliv ovlivňují značně jejich vlastnosti. Pro analýzu povrchů a chemických stavů těchto materiálu byla využita rentgenová fotoelektronová spektroskopie (XPS). Směsný perovskit Cs(0.08)MA(0.18)FA(0.78)PbBr(0.42)I(2.58) byl připraven jednoduchou syntézou a deponován na substrát z oxidu inditého pomocí spin-coatingu. V přehledovém spektru byly měřeny struktury jader Pb 4f, I 3d, Br 3d, Cs 3d, C 1s, N 1s, Pb 4d a Pb 5d a také spektra valenčních pásů. Výsledky ve formě symetrických píků potvrdili homogenní složení materiálu. Hlavní chemické stavy těchto materialů, jakl např. Cs-Br a Pb-I jsou v práci demonstrovány. Pro Cs-Br bylo vydedukovánom že signál je asociován s [PbI6](4-)octahedrem v perovskitové structure, zatímco pro Pb-I bylo zjištěno napojení Cs+ na jednotky [PbBr6](4-) na povrchu perovskitu. Byl detekován také NR(4)(+) signál, který byl odůvodněn přítomnosti metylamoniových a formadiniových kationtů.

An all-solid-state lithium secondary battery using two-dimensional hybrid halide perovskite (2D-HHP) (CH3(CH2)(2)NH3)(2)(CH3NH3)(2)Pb3Br10 as electrode materials and sulfide-based solid electrolyte is fabricated for the first time. Although large amounts of lithium-ion conductor have been mixed in the electrodes of the all-solid-state batteries based on sulfide solid electrolytes, the high lithium-ion coefficient of the 2D-HHP, around 10(-7) cm(2) s(-1), allowed the suitable operation of the batteries without the addition of any lithium-ion conductors into the electrodes. The lithium-ion diffusion in the electrode improves with the temperature, showing a better performance at 100 degrees C and keeping a low resistance between electrode/electrolyte interface of 13 Omega. The all-solid-state battery retains a reversible capacity of more than 242 mAh g(-1) for 30 cycles at 0.13 mA cm(-2) with a negligible capacity fade. The mechanism of the lithium storage into the 2D-HHP electrode material based on ex-situ XRD measurements at different stages of the discharge-charge processes is suggested, consisting of a three-step reaction: Li+ insertion/extraction, conversion, and alloying-dealloying reactions.

Size controlled silver nanoparticles were obtained via chemical reduction using one-pot synthesis. Differently from other reported methods for silver nanoparticles, 1-octanol was used as both solvent and reduction agent, oleylamine and oleic acid acted as capping agents and silver nitrate was used as the metal precursor. Ultraviolet-visible and Raman spectroscopy were used to monitor the in situ growth of the nanoparticles and to corroborate the oxidation of the alcohol to caprylic acid. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) served to find the size and shape of the nanoparticles. It was found that the temperature used and the reagents proportions were appropriated to produce silver nanoparticles. A growth mechanism was proposed including the formation of silver carboxylates as an intermediate step of the reaction. As a systematic use of oleic acid, we could observe that a higher concentration of this capping agent led to smaller and more homogenous nanoparticles, less than 5nm in size., En este trabajo se obtuvieron nanoparticulas de plata por la ruta de reducción química usando síntesis en un paso. Diferente a otros métodos reportados para nanoparticulas de plata, se usó 1-octanol como solvente y agente reductor, oleilamina y ácido oleico como agentes estabilizantes, mientras que el precursor del metal fue nitrato de plata. El crecimiento de las nanopartículas fue monitoreado por espectroscopia de absorción ultravioleta-visible y Raman, lo cual corroboró la oxidación del alcohol a ácido caprilico. Los ensayos de difracción de rayos X y microscopia electrónica de transmisión permitieron conocer la forma y el tamaño de las nanopartículas. Se encontró que la temperatura y los reactivos empleados fueron apropiados para producir nanopartículas de plata. Se formaron carboxilatos de plata como un paso intermedio en la reacción. Finalmente, el incremento en la concentración de ácido oleico permitió la obtención de nanopartículas de plata de menos de 5nm.

Due to the increasing production and use of nanomaterials in research and development activities in Colombia, it is necessary to define the nanomaterial term in order to facilitate decision-making process regarding initiatives with a regulatory or normative character. This work presents the results of field testing of several experimental antifouling paints, which were exposed for up to 471 days to natural sea water in the Caribbean. The testing site was selected in order to obtain very critical conditions; therefore, static panels were immersed in water considered as having an intense biological activity. Paints formulations are based in natural rosin as binder, and cuprous oxide as biocide. Three different plasticizers and binder/plasticizers ratios were employed, obtaining 22 different formulations, which were classified in three different groups according to their biocide leaching rate. Besides this, three commercial products were tested for comparison. Some of the experimental formulations, including paints with low biocide release rate, show as good or better performance than the commercial ones. From the plasticizers employed (chlorinated rubber, vegetable oleic acid, and vegetable oil), it was found that the best results were obtained with formulations prepared with chlorinated rubber. It was also observed that physical chemical water properties might have an important effect on paint efficiency, particularly the presence of particulate matter in the water or important variations of water oxygen content, En este trabajo se presentan los resultados de la evaluación en campo de varias pinturas anti-incrustantes desarrolladas experimentalmente, luego de ser expuestas por 471 días a condiciones naturales de agua de mar en el Caribe. El lugar de exposición fue seleccionado con el fin de obtener condiciones ambientales severas, para este propósito se sumergieron paneles estáticos en agua con alta actividad biológica. Se usaron tres diferentes plastificantes y diferentes relaciones plastificante/ligante, para finalmente obtener 22 diferentes formulaciones que fueron clasificadas en tres diferentes grupos de acuerdo a la velocidad de liberación del biocida. Para efectos de comparación, se emplearon tres productos comerciales. Algunas de las formulaciones desarrolladas mostraron igual o mejor desempeño que los productos comerciales. Los mejores resultados se encontraron cuando se usó caucho clorado como plastificante. Finalmente se encontró que las condiciones físico-químicas del agua tienen un efecto significativo en la eficiencia biocida de las pinturas, particularmente la presencia de material particulado y el contenido de oxígeno

La magnetita es uno de los óxidos de hierro más comunes en los aceros autoprotectores en su etapa inicial de exposición a medios naturales. La corrosión atmosférica disminuye en estos aceros a medida que aumenta su tiempo de exposición, ya que en su superficie se desarrolla una capa de herrumbre protectora. En este trabajo se estudió la incorporación del cerio y el titanio en 1, 3 y 5% en magnetitas obtenidas mediante síntesis hidrotermal. Para garantizar la calidad del óxido y estudiar el efecto protector que le confieren los dopantes, se empleó DRX, TEM, EM, resistividad y técnicas electroquímicas.
