Introduction: The main objective of this work is to analyze, from a bibliometric point of view, the journal Ars Pharmaceutica in the time interval between the years 2014 and 2023, given the existence of previous studies prior to that period. Method: The study focuses on the estimation of average authorship and time of acceptance of an article, distribution by scientific typology and by thematic areas of the published works, distribution by countries and institutions of origin of the works and incidence of the gender in authorship. The statistical analysis has been based on nonparametric contrasts and trend analysis. Results: The average number of authors per article is 4, lower than that of journals in the Pharmacy & Pharmacology field, and has remained stable throughout the period under study; The areas that concentrate the greatest number of contributions are Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmacy, Pharmaceutical Care and Pharmacology; almost 80 % of the works come from Spain (45.62 %) and Ibero-American countries (33.46 %); and, finally, that the percentage of male authors is significantly higher than that of female authors (p=0.036). Conclusion: Ars Pharmaceutica is a journal that, despite publishing articles mostly in Spanish, is consolidating itself as an international journal, appearing since 2018 in the Journal of Citation Reports, initially with Journal Citation Indicator and, since 2022, with Journal Impact Factor. Conservation literature addresses a broad spectrum of interdisciplinary questions and benefits. Conservation science benefits most when a diverse range of authors are represented, particularly those from countries where much conservation work is focused. In other disciplines, it is well known that barriers and biases exist in the academic publishing sphere, which can affect research dissemination and an author's career development. We used a discrete choice experiment to determine how 7 journal attributes affect authors’ choices of where to publish in conservation. We targeted authors directly by contacting authors published in 18 target journals and indirectly via communication channels for conservation organizations. We only included respondents who had previously published in a conservation‐related journal. We used a multinomial logit model and a latent class model to investigate preferences for all respondents and distinct subpopulations. We identified 3 demographic groups across 1038 respondents (older authors from predominantly middle‐income countries, younger authors from predominantly middle‐income countries, and younger authors from high‐income countries) who had published in conservation journals. Each group exhibited different publishing preferences. Only 2 attributes showed a consistent response across groups: cost to publish negatively affected journal choice, including authors in high‐income countries, and authors had a consistent preference for double‐blind review. Authors from middle‐income countries were willing to pay more for society‐owned journals, unlike authors from high‐income countries. Journals with a broad geographical scope that were open access and that had relatively high impact factors were preferred by 2 of the 3 demographic groups. However, journal scope and open access were more important in dictating journal choice than impact factor. Overall, different demographics had different preferences for journals and were limited in their selection based on attributes such as open access policy. However, the scarcity of respondents from low‐income countries (2% of respondents) highlights the pervasive barriers to representation in conservation research. We recommend journals offer double‐blind review, reduce or remove open access fees, investigate options for free editorial support, and better acknowledge the value of local‐scale single‐species studies. With technological advancements and cost reduction， the centralized integration of grid-forming energy storage system has significantly expanded. This integration notably impacts the short-circuit currents of power system， an effect that warrants careful consideration. This paper utilizes an electromechanical transient simulation model for grid-forming energy storage system to examine the amplitude and phase characteristics of short-circuit currents under various limiting strategies. Case simulations are conducted to assess changes in short-circuit currents at nearby buses under different scales of energy storage system integration， overcurrent capabilities， grid voltage levels， and operating conditions. This comprehensive analysis reveals the influence of energy storage integration system on the bus short-circuit currents and quantifies the contribution of grid-forming energy storage system to the short-circuit currents. Based on these findings， the paper offers recommendations for capacity allocation and placement of grid-forming energy storage system， taking into account their impact on short-circuit current levels.

【Objective】 Irrigation is the largest water consumer in many regions. Understanding its variation and the underlying determinants is important for improving water management. Taking Jiangxi province as an example, we analyze the variation in its irrigation water usage, as well as the factors that influence the changes. 【Method】 Based on the information entropy and the balance in water utilization across the province, the logarithmic mean divisia index (LMDI) decomposition method was used to identify the meteorological factors that affect and contribute to irrigation water usage. 【Result】 The change in agricultural irrigation water consumption in the province is affected mainly by net irrigation water consumption per acre land, effective utilization coefficient of irrigation water, and effective irrigation areas, and actual irrigation ratio. The impact of irrigation water use efficiency negatively affected the change in irrigation water usage, while the impact of other factors varied with other conditions. Correlation analysis showed that the net irrigation water consumption per acre land and its contribution to irrigation water usage are affected mainly by rainfall. Excluding weather-related factors, the change in irrigation water consumption in the province was negative, indicating that the management of irrigation engineering projects has been improved. The increased irrigation water utilization efficiency is the main reason behind the decreased agricultural irrigation water consumption. Five cities in the province, including Shangrao, Fuzhou, Yichun, Jian, and Ganzhou, still have room for implementing water-saving irrigation. 【Conclusion】 Given the potential growth in the ratio of the effective irrigation areas to actual irrigation areas, the province should take measures by, for example, developing water-saving projects in large and medium-sized irrigation areas and optimizing water resource allocation, to improve effective irrigation water utilization coefficient and alleviate water pressure.

As economic development advances, there is an increasing focus on improving health conditions, making healthcare expenditure a critical issue worldwide. In China, healthcare spending has shown a marked upward trend, highlighting the importance of understanding its underlying determinants to guide effective policy-making. This study introduces the application of an SV-TVP-FAVAR model to examine the drivers of healthcare expenditure in China from 2007 to 2022. The analysis reveals that economic factors, demographic composition, and policy interventions significantly influence healthcare spending dynamics. Economic growth is strongly linked to increased healthcare expenditure, with economic factors having a particularly pronounced impact during periods of prosperity. Although an aging population drives greater demand for healthcare, the growth rate of healthcare spending has not kept pace with demographic aging, especially following China’s economic slowdown. Policy variables present a dual-edged impact: while increased fiscal outlays contribute to budget deficits, limiting the fiscal space for healthcare investment, government emphasis on scientific and technological progress tends to enhance healthcare spending, indicating a synergistic relationship between these areas. Furthermore, the study identifies a prolonged impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on healthcare expenditure, which continues to interact with other driving factors over an extended period. The empirical findings from this research provide crucial evidence to support the development of informed healthcare policies.

BACKGROUND: The dissemination of research and evidence-based medicine is critical to advancing science and improving clinical practice. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the timing and associated factors of the publication process for the most influential orthopaedic surgery research journals. METHODS: After analyzing 25 orthopaedic surgery journals with the highest impact factors, 14 journals provided the necessary information for data analysis. A minimum of three consecutive issues per journal from 2021 were collected for review. Within each issue, all articles were included except for reviews, commentaries, replies, letters to the editor, and invited articles. The publication times for received to accepted (RA), received to published in press (RP1), and received to published in print (RP2) were retrieved and compared. Journal impact factor, specialty, and article level of evidence were recorded. RESULTS: A total of 1040 articles were included with a mean number of 74.3 ± 38 (range, 35-182) articles analyzed per journal. The mean impact factor for the 14 journals was 3.6 ± 1 (range, 2.5-5.8). The overall median duration of time for RA, RP1, and RP2 were 119 (IQR, 78-165) days, 157 (IQR, 102-216) days, and 291 (IQR, 243-378) days across all 14 journals, respectively. Journal of Arthroplasty demonstrated the shortest median duration of time for RA and RP1, while International Orthopaedics demonstrated the shortest median duration of time for RP2. Clinical Journal of Sport Medicine demonstrated the longest median duration of time for RA and RP2, while the American Journal of Sports Medicine demonstrated the longest median duration of time for RP1. Level three studies, which included retrospective case-control and cohort study designs, demonstrated the shortest publication times, while sports medicine journals demonstrated the longest publication times for all periods. CONCLUSION: There was substantial variation in publication times across orthopaedic surgery journals which may impact accessibility to clinical insights.

Background: Medicine has begun adapting to new information-sharing paradigms in the hyper-connected social media era. In this milieu, the role of journal websites in the dissemination of clinical and research information needs to be reevaluated. Objective: We sought to explore whether reader engagement with neurosurgical journal websites, reflected by the number of article views and downloads, correlated with the eventual number of citations received by the articles. Methods: The websites of all Medline indexed neurosurgical journals were screened to identify those that provided information regarding the number of abstract and full text views and downloads. Articles published in these journals between July 2010 and June 2011 were included in this analysis. Various article attributes were identified and the number of citations per article was obtained from Google Scholar. The impact factors of the selected journals for the year 2010 were obtained from the Journal Citation Reports. Results: Twenty-two journals that had published 2527 articles were finally included in this analysis. The number of abstract views, full-text views, and downloads all correlated strongly with the journal impact factors in 2010 as well as the eventual citations per article. The number of article downloads independently predicted the citations per article on multivariate analysis. Neurology India had significantly higher article views and downloads but lower citations per article than the other journals. Conclusions: Readers were found to engage significantly with neurosurgical journal websites and therefore, open access to articles would lead to increased visibility of articles, resulting in higher citation rates. h-indexes, Journal Impact Factors and CiteScores are often presented as a single numeric value, without providing any context. Under such circumstances, the reader is unable to fully appreciate, or comprehend, the information being presented. By not being transparent, it also presents the opportunity for unscrupulous operators, such as predatory journals, to provide non-sensical information in the hope that the potential author will misinterpret it and submit an article in the expectation that they are submitting to a high-quality journal. Dubious metrics are also able to enter the sector, again in the hope that their metric will be read under an incorrect assumption. Following an overview of the main metrics that are commonly used, this paper suggests how these metrics should be cited. Adopting these proposals would not only provide the reader will full information but also enable bogus measures, which have proliferated in recent years, to be recognized more easily. The inclusion of scientific journals in prestigious indexers is often associated with higher citation rates; journals included in such indexers are significantly more acknowledged than those that are not included in them. This phenomenon refers to the Matthew effect on journal citations, according to which journals in exclusive rankings tend to be increasingly cited. This paper shows the opposite: that the inclusion of journals in local indexers ruled by inclusive logic reduces the Matthew effect on journal citations since it enables them to be equally exposed. Thus, we based our arguments on the comparison of 68 Brazilian journals before and after they were indexed in the Scientific Periodicals Electronic Library (Spell), which ranks journals in the Brazilian management field based on local citations. Citation impact indicators and iGini (a new individual inequality analysis measure) were used to show that the inclusion of journals in Spell has probably increased their impact factor and decreased their citation inequality rates. Using a difference-in-differences model with continuous treatment, the results indicated that the effect between ranking and inequality declined after journals were included in Spell. Additional robustness checks through event study models and interrupted time-series analysis for panel data point to a reduction in citation inequality but follow different trajectories for the 2- and 5-year impact. Welcome to the summer 2024 issue of IEEE Journal of Microwaves! This month we bring you twenty-one new research papers plus our 2023 Impact Factor! After three and a half anxious years and countless hours of effort we have now received our Clarivate rankings and the news is good. The 2024 Journal Citation Report came out on June 20 and IEEE Journal of Microwaves received a journal impact factor (JIF) of 6.9, putting us 34th of 354 journals in electrical engineering and 3rd amongst journals in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI). Our Scopus Citescore was also received and lists us at 10.7. We are off to a good start and have plans to move to bimonthly issues in 2025. Keep an eye out for our upcoming special issue on Microwaves in Climate Change towards the end of this year.

Introduction: Research activities have increased manifold due to the importance of scientific publication in advancing an academic career. Researchers find it strenuous to choose journals due to the availability of a higher number of scientific journals. Objectives: The objective of this study was to determine the various journal factors that affect its selection to publish research work and the motivating factors involved in it. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 219 dental professionals that included dental faculties, postgraduate students, and private dental practitioners of Odisha, through a self-administered questionnaire via Google Forms consisting of 15 items. Descriptive statistics and Chi-square test were used for statistical analysis with a level of significance set at 0.05. Results: Respondents were predominantly dental faculty (53%). Factors influencing journal selection were citation of the journal (89.4%), followed by impact factor and indexing of the journal. Less than half (42.4%) agreed to pay the publishing charges. It was observed that PubMed indexing was preferred, followed by Scopus. The reason to publish was different for faculty and postgraduate students. Conclusions: Researchers consider various factors before publishing in a journal with the intent of discoverability and recognition. The study revealed that indexing of journals and impact factor as important aspects of choosing a journal for publication.

Abstract The Anais Brasileiros de Dermatologia, published since 1925, is the most influential dermatological journal in Latin America, indexed in the main international bibliographic databases, and occupies the 50th position among the 70 dermatological journals indexed in the Journal of Citations Reports, in 2022. In this article, the authors present a critical analysis of its trajectory in the last decade and compare its main bibliometric indices with Brazilian medical and international dermatological journals. The journal showed consistent growth in different bibliometric indices, which indicates a successful editorial policy and greater visibility in the international scientific community, attracting foreign authors. The increases in citations received (4.1 ×) and in the Article Influence Score (2.9×) were more prominent than those of the main Brazilian medical and international dermatological journals. The success of Anais Brasileiros de Dermatologia in the international scientific scenario depends on an assertive editorial policy, on promptly publication of high-quality articles, and on institutional stimulus to encourage clinical research in dermatology.

The article titled "Reasons to write and publish scientific articles" highlights the importance of publishing scientific articles for surgeons. Despite their clinical, teaching, and administrative obligations, scientific productivity enhances the reputation of surgical services and the possibility of obtaining economic resources. There are two types of reasons for publishing: altruistic and personal. Additionally, the article mentions the importance of knowing what and where to publish, as well as the quality of the research and manuscript writing. The impact factor and the h-index are also mentioned as measures of research quality. An analysis of the scientific production and research in Viticulture and Enology on papers referring to Mexico was performed, published between 2000 and 2022, and indexed in Scopus, Google Scholar, and CONRICyT databases. The following indicators were considered: quartile, H-index, productivity by year, journal, author, and the number of citations. Seventy-nine articles were identified that include many subtopics in the area, such as phytopathology, plant nutrition, climate, quality, and physicochemical and sensory properties of grapes and wine. This analysis demonstrates the necessity of promoting scientific research on priority topics in the different wine regions to take advantage of the diversity of opportunities and challenges in Mexican viticulture. We investigated academic developmental trends in emergency medicine (EM) by analyzing the performance of EM journals. Data from the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) database for EM category journals, including journal titles, language, numbers, and impact factors (IFs) from 2000 to 2019 were collected. The aggregate IFs of EM and 11 other categories (cardiac and cardiovascular systems, clinical neurology, critical care medicine, gastroenterology and hepatology, infectious diseases, general and internal medicine, pediatrics, respiratory system, surgery, toxicology, and urology and nephrology) were collected from 2003 to 2019. The slope of the linear regression was used to evaluate the trend in EM journal IFs and the aggregate IFs of all categories. Pearson’s correlation coefficient was used to evaluate the correlation between EM journals’ IF in 2000 and their IF trend from 2000 to 2019. The EM journal number increased from 8 (all in English) in 2000 to 31 (26 in English) in 2019. In total, 28 EM journals had a positive IF trend since their initial enrollment into the JCR database, and the trend was significant for 18 journals. The correlation of the EM journals’ IF in 2000 and IF trends from 2000 to 2019 was 0.75. The increasing trend of aggregate IF for the EM category was significant. In conclusion, the increased number, language diversity, and IF trend for EM journals indicates that the development of academic EM is a continuous international trend. In the past 20 years, the IF trend increased faster for EM journals with a higher initial IF. The overall performance of EM journals was non-inferior to other medical specialties. Given China's status as one of the most water-scarce countries globally, its rapid development of urbanization and sustained economic growth have led to increasing pressure on the urban water supply. Water pricing is also receiving increasing attention as an important tool for water resource management. This study analyzes the spatial and temporal characteristics of domestic water prices in China and their drivers. To this end, domestic water price data from 285 cities in China were collected. Spatial statistical analysis and geodetector were used to examine the spatial distribution and temporal patterns of domestic water prices from 2007 to 2020, as well as to identify the primary factors influencing these prices. The following results are noted: (1) The national average domestic water price has increased from 2 RMB/m3 to 3.12 RMB/m3, where the northeast and eastern regions have higher prices than the national average, while the central and western regions have lower prices. (2) The spatial distribution of urban domestic water prices presents clear differences characteristic of north–south and spatial agglomeration effects; the high-value area of domestic water prices is mainly concentrated in Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei. (3) On a national and regional scale, the price of domestic water is closely related to economic development, water resources, and resident's income level. Furthermore, this study revealed that the interaction between pairwise factors played a more significant role in influencing domestic water prices compared with the individual impact of each factor. This finding contributes to a deeper understanding of the spatiotemporal heterogeneity in domestic water pricing and offers valuable insights and guidance for water pricing reform in China. The h-index has become more popular nowadays and is used for some scientific performance criteria worldwide. This indexing method does not correctly measure any performance or career specifications because of the parameters used to form the measurement basis. The h-index is located based on citation(C) and paper(N) parameters that involve no logical criterion on the counting process, and so measurement on this basis can only give quantity results not any quality information. Therefore, we need a new indexing instrument to find out also the scientific quality unique to an individual author even if that takes into account the effect of multiple coauthorships. Due to developments in the field of fast transportation, increase in permitted speed and load capacity, moving loads can have significant effects on the dynamic forces of bridges. To consider the dynamic effect in the design of the structure, the dynamic impact factor is introduced as ratio of the dynamic response to the static response. Accurate evaluation of these coefficients helps in safe and economic designs for new bridges. However, the evaluation of the dynamic impact factor is difficult due to the vehicle-bridge interaction and the influence of many parameters that affect the dynamic impact factor, including the dynamic characteristics of the bridge and the vehicle, road surface conditions, vehicle speed, traffic conditions,. In this research, by applying live load of vehicles step by step and performing time history analysis, dynamic analysis under moving load has been done. Three different types of cable-stayed bridges with different spans and cable layouts have been investigated in the form of two-dimensional models. This study analyzes the impact coefficient of bending and shear forces of deck components and pylons, as well as the axial forces of cables, and the results are compared with the coefficients proposed in the design regulations. Also, the effect of changes in load passing speed on the dynamic impact factor in cable-stayed bridges has also been evaluated and studied. Academic publishing is the support for dissemination of research findings that constitute the grounds upon which new orientations and improvements are based on sharing breaking ideas, critical analyses of data, and argumentations that sustain the development of collaborative research projects. The wide diffusion of new scientific findings is pivotal to the progress of medical sciences, a salient feature of human societal fullness and intellectual welfare. In a practical way, the value of academic publishing can be ascertained by its capacity to reach a wide number of readers from different fields that may provide the soil for interactive projects. The challenges are numerous (Zul in Challenges in Academic Publishing; Navigating the Obstacles, 2023). An examination of the means developed to survey the individual performances of scientists, based on their publications, has led me to comment in this editorial on pitfalls that muddle the way to upstanding evaluations mainly based on irrelevant metrics. The arena of research is at an expanding pace. Due to the rise in number of researches, the acceptance rate for publication has been decreasing. This creates a lot of manuscript rejections and the re- searchers tends to submit their work in less known journals or publishers who offer quick publishing with a nominal publication cost. Such publishers may be predatory and can lead to loss of the re- search in a scientific cloud black hole, where the research is not acknowledged or identified and hence deemed to be of null value. It is therefore indispensable that every researcher, academician and educator to be aware of and be vigilant of such journals/publishers for individual work publication, peer publications or supervised publications or faculty promotions. The present review highlights important points for identification of predatory journals/publishers, guidance to avoid publishing in such journals and how to get research published in a good journal.

Modern science has been transformed by open access (OA) publishing levied a significant economic burden on the authors. This article analyzes the discrepancies among OA publication fees in pharmacology, toxicology, and pharmaceutics. The observations comprise 160 OA journals and their corresponding Q ranking, SJR, H index, impact factor, country, and cost of publication. The OA fees were found to depend on the quality matrices, which was unexpected. Differences in OA fees raise ethical questions as OA fees are meant to cover the publication charges by the publishers or generate more revenues by taking advantage of the authors’ temptation to publish in high-impact journals. Despite our findings being based on limited sample size and belonging to a particular field (pharmacy), it will shed considerable light on the issue of discrepancies among APCs charged by OA journals.

The use of deep reinforcement learning algorithms for strategy formulation in supply chain management enables the nodes in the supply chain to better improve their management strategies. In this paper, a supply chain model is constructed as a starting point, and deep reinforcement learning algorithms are introduced on this basis. Firstly, the decision problem of uncertainty is handled by the reinforcement learning method of functions, and the DQN algorithm (deep neural network algorithm) is divided into two parts for iterative rules. Then the target network is established to make the iterative process more stable, to improve the convergence of the algorithm, evaluate the loss function in the training process of the network, and to determine its influence factor. Then the neural network is used to improve the iteration rule, improve the output layer, select the final action, and define the model expectation reward. Finally, the Bellman equation is fitted to the function by a deep neural network to calculate the final result. The experimental results show that by analyzing and constructing the cost of international logistics under supply chain management, the capacity utilization rate of ocean freight link is 57% The unloading link is 74% and the total capacity utilization rate is calculated as 76%. It shows that using deep reinforcement learning algorithms under international logistics supply chain management is feasible and necessary for improving the management strategy research of supply chains.

This paper uses an adaptive load-balancing algorithm to calculate an intelligent terminal platform on the basis of an enterprise financial information-sharing model. Firstly, a new server performance evaluation index is established based on the hierarchical analysis method, and the load performance of each node is reacted using the influence factors. Then a judgment matrix is constructed for the set of evaluation factors based on the change in the average load utilization rate of nodes. Finally, the results of the matrix are normalized to derive the evaluation weights of each node of the server, which completes the construction of the intelligent terminal platform. An enterprise’s quarterly bills for 2018-2020 were selected for analysis, and after running the financial information sharing, the processing time of a single voucher could be saved by 0.3 hours. It shows that the constructed information-sharing resource base can not only significantly reduce operation costs but also access the business data of subsidiaries at any time to effectively prevent operation risks.

In order to study the spatial pattern and geographical differentiation characteristics of traditional villages, this paper combines digital landscape technology to analyze the influencing factors of the distribution of traditional villages. Based on multi-source data, this paper reveals the spatial pattern and geographical differentiation characteristics of traditional villages with the help of GIS, RS and mathematical and statistical methods and systematically explores the inner mechanism and laws. It also combines digital landscape technology, which is in line with the trend of the times, and designs an image visual optimization model based on digital landscape technology so as to make the experimental analysis of the distribution of traditional villages more convenient. It is obtained that the 3D modeling errors using digital landscape technology are all lower than 1.12%, the 3D modeling errors of the overhead GIS 3D modeling method are between 3.21% and 4.58%, and the 3D modeling errors of the digital photography 3D modeling method are all higher than 4.82%. The distance from the urban center, population density, ethnic distribution, and average annual temperature was the main influencing factors, all of which exceeded the explanatory power of 0.4. Average annual rainfall, administrative center, and GDP per capita were the secondary influencing factors, with explanatory power over 0.15. Based on this study, the spatial distribution density of traditional socio-economic villages was more influenced by socio-economic factors, followed by physical geographic factors.

Background: Cochlear implantation (CI) outcomes in patients with auditory neuropathy (AN) are variable, which hampers patients' decisions on CI. Objective: This study aims to assess the outcomes of CI in individuals diagnosed with AN and to examine the various factors that may influence the effectiveness of this intervention. Methods: A total of 75 patients diagnosed with AN were included in the study. The hearing threshold, the score of categories of auditory performance (CAP), speech intelligibility rating (SIR), and speech audiometry were tested. Genetic testing was conducted by medical exome sequencing in 46 patients. Results: After CI, the average aided hearing threshold for patients with prelingual and post-lingual onset was 38.25 ± 6.63 dB and 32.58 ± 9.26 dB, respectively; CAP score improved to 5.52 ± 1.64 (p < 0.001) and 6.00 ± 0.96 (p < 0.001), respectively; SIR score increased to 3.57 ± 1.22 (p < 0.001) and 4.15 ± 0.95 (p < 0.001), respectively. Maximum speech recognition ranged from 58 to 93% for prelingual onset patients and 43 to 98% for those with post-lingual onset. Speech outcomes of CI in cases with cochlear nerve (CN) deficiency were significantly poorer (p = 0.008). Molecular etiologies, including TWIST1, ACTG1, m.A7445G, and a copy-number variant (CNV) carrying ACTB, were related to AN here. Objectives: Bibliometric analysis is one of the most widely used tools to quantify the research prolificacy in a specific area of knowledge. This paper aims to provide a list of the top 100 cited articles published between 2010 and 2021 on dental fluorosis to offer an up-to-date quantitative-qualitative analysis of publications. Methods: The Scopus database was reviewed with the term "dental fluorosis" in the title, abstract, and keywords to retrieve lists of the 100 most-cited articles on 16 December 2021. The number of citations, authors, publication year, country, and institution of origin were evaluated. A graphical illustration of keywords, co-authors, and countries was created using VOSviewer. Results: The number of citations of the 100 articles varied from 654 to 42. All the studies were published in English and 62% were published in journals in the first quartile. The articles were published in 62 different journals, with the most popular publication being the Journal of the American Dentistry and Science of The Total Environment (n=5). The papers originated from 40 countries, with India (n=26) accounting for the largest number. The most prolific authors were A. M. Glenny and H.V. Worthington (n=5), and the institution was Manchester University (n=8). The majority of articles were on Environmental Science (n=39), followed by Dentistry and Medicine (n=26). Conclusions: The present citation analysis provides insights into the current publications in dental fluorosis and will help researchers interested in this topic by saving considerable effort and time in finding appropriate article referrals. Modern science has been transformed by open access (OA) publishing levied a significant economic burden on the authors. This article analyzes the discrepancies among OA publication fees in pharmacology, toxicology, and pharmaceutics. The observations comprise 160 OA journals and their corresponding Q ranking, SJR, H index, impact factor, country, and cost of publication. The OA fees were found to depend on the quality matrices, which was unexpected. Differences in OA fees raise ethical questions as OA fees are meant to cover the publication charges by the publishers or generate more revenues by taking advantage of the authors' temptation to publish in high-impact journals. Despite our findings being based on limited sample size and belonging to a particular field (pharmacy), it will shed considerable light on the issue of discrepancies among APCs charged by OA journals. The rich history of optometric journal publications has been well documented, but the scientific impact of all optometry journals over all time has not been published. This work aims to determine the most impactful papers, authors, institutions and countries publishing in optometry journals. A h-index for "optometry journal publications" (the "hOJP-index") was derived for each constituent of each category to serve as a measure of impact. The h0Jp-index for the 34,565 papers published in all optometry journals is 136; these papers have been cited 294,239 times. Optometry and Vision Science is the most impactful and prolificjournal (hOJP=118; n=13,095 papers). The most highly cited paper, by Richard Armstrong, is entitled "When to use the Bonferroni correction" (1,172 citations). Australian optometrist Nathan Efron is the most impactful and prolific author (hOJP=41; n=273). UNSW Sydney and the University of California, Berkeley are the most impactful institutions (both hOJP==58), and UNSW Sydney is the most prolific (n=963). The most impactful and prolific nation is the United States (hOJP=109; n=12,050). The impact factor (IF) assessment of a four-span non-prismatic continuous and an equivalent integral railway bridge under the action of high-speed moving train loads is conducted in this study. Critical analysis of the fullscale three-dimensional finite element (FE) bridge models is done to investigate the differences in the IFs of all the spans of the two-track railway bridge under various loading conditions. A simplified approach is proposed to identify the dynamic IF values. The results show that for a continuous bridge, with the increase in the load on the bridge, IF coefficients reduce from 0.195 to 0.102. However, for the integral bridge, and considered loading conditions, almost similar IF coefficients (0.100) are obtained. For the intermediate spans, the resonance phenomenon for the integral bridge is achieved at lower speeds compared to the equivalent continuous bridge. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ObjectivesReview abstracts presented at the Combined Otolaryngology Society Meeting (COSM) to determine subsequent publication and identify abstract features predictive of publication in high impact journals.MethodsA selection of abstracts accepted in the 2015 COSM scientific programs were retrospectively reviewed. MEDLINE searches via PubMed and Google Scholar were performed to determine publication rates. The Journal of Citation Reports was used to determine impact factors for published abstracts. Binomial regression analyses were used to identify factors related to publication in high impact journals.Results62.4% of reviewed abstracts (n = 623) were subsequently published, with a mean publication time of 14 ± 12 months. Abstract features predictive of publication were basic science type, other science type, prospective studies, multi-institutional involvement, and presentation at the American Laryngologic Association and American Otologic Society meetings. Based on Wald score, podium presentation was found to have the biggest effect on publication. Factors positively associated with publication in high impact (impact factor > 2.272) journals were increased author number and sample size.ConclusionsOverall publication rate of abstracts selected for presentation at COSM in 2015 was on the higher end of previously reported otolaryngology meetings. Abstracts detailing basic science, other science, prospective and multi-institutional studies were more likely to lead to future publication. Abstract Objective This study aims to identify determinants of high impact, measured by Impact Factor (IF) and Eigenfactor score, among otolaryngology journals. Methods Bibliometric data of “otorhinolaryngology” journals were collected from the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) database. For the years 2009–2020, we collected normalized Eigenfactor score, 5‐year IF, immediacy index, fraction of IF from journal‐self citation, proportion and magnitude of published citable articles, and total citation counts. High‐IF and ‐Eigenfactor journals were considered those within the top‐quartile of that metric each respective year. Results High‐IF and ‐Eigenfactor otolaryngology journals displayed higher 5‐year IFs, immediacy indexes, and IF without self‐citation (p .05 for 2009‐2016). Background: In recent years, conventional thoracoscopic surgery has been accepted as the traditional treatment method in the non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). VATS and RATS, which are the techniques of this surgical method, have been increasing their effectiveness and applicability of late years. The aim of this bibliometric analysis is to evaluate the importance and efficiency of articles comparing VATS and RATS techniques. Materials and methods: Studies comparing VATS and RATS published between 1997 and 2021 were identified in the Web of Science database (accessed on 31. 12. 2021). The 40 most cited studies were analyzed in terms of publication years, country of study, authors, institutions that the authors were affiliated with, journal, journal address and impact factor. Results: While an article was cited a maximum of 187 times when the citations made by the authors were excluded from the analysis, it was observed that all publications were cited a total of 1946 times. It was seen that an average of 51. 30 ± 47. 73 (8–187) articles were cited. In the 25-year, the highest number of publications was reached in 2019, while eight articles were published this year. The Annals of Thoracic Surgery (n = 13, 32. 5 %) was the journal in which the articles in the list were published the most. Most of the articles in our study (n = 31, 77.5 %) were published in US journals. While many studies presented more than one topic and analysis, the topic of most interest in 19 (47.5 %) studies was postoperative complications. Conclusion: This bibliometric analysis reflects important and qualified articles comparing VATS and RATS technique in thoracic surgery, but it can also be used to explain or explain the performance and results of these techniques, their positive and negative aspects, and their superiority over each other.

As the COVID-19 pandemic became a global health concern, many business activities have had to adjust to the protocols required to keep people safe, thereby altering the work structures of many professionals. With data gathered from 466 respondents in Nigeria, of which approximately 70% are from the South-West, this study shows how the factors associated with the health crisis have affected work productivity during this period. The snowball survey research design techniques with the two-way interaction model were employed. Multiple Correspondence Analysis was used to analyse and understand multiple and pairwise qualitative factors that influence productivity. The first part of the analysis identified boredom, remuneration, internet availability, fear of COVID-19 and depressing news of COVID-19 as the factors that had significant impacts on workers’ productivity. The second part of the analysis shows how the categories of the five significant factors were either associated or not with productivity. An analysis of each of these factors showed that fear of the disease was associated with slight productivity but access to internet facilities and remuneration were strongly associated with improved work productivity, while boredom and depressing news about COVID-19 were associated with non-productivity during this period. Further evidence also showed that training and new skills acquisition might improve workers’ productivity much more. We, therefore, recommend dynamic skills acquisition, training, and investment in tools and services that will enhance flexibility with the changing work structure that comes because of global crises.

In order to improve the bearing capacity of a bridge under dynamic impact and at the same time to improve the durability and safety of the bridge, the bridge should be jacked up, and most of the current research on bridge jacking upgrading is on synchronous jacking upgrading. There has been little research on single-pier jacking upgrading, especially the dynamics response problem under single-pier jacking upgrading of the bridge. This paper is based on the principle of vehicle–bridge coupling, and the vehicle was analyzed at different speeds by using the established model, vehicle weight, and multi-lane driving, comparing the dynamic response of the bridge before and after the single-pier jacking retrofit. The study analyzed the impact of the bridge single-pier jacking retrofit on the bridge impact coefficient, and evaluated the impact coefficient of the bridge from the perspective of dynamics. A comprehensive evaluation of the bridge single-pier jacking retrofit project was carried out. The following conclusions are drawn: the single-pier jacking modification of the bridge increased the bridge's capacity under dynamic impact and also enhanced the durability and safety of the bridge. Purpose: To examine a series of papers from top ranked orthopaedic journals with respect to the number of citations over a 10-year observation period to identify factors that lead to high citation rates. Methods: The Web of Science database was consulted to identify all published papers from the first-year term of 2010 (January-May) from four top orthopaedic journals: AJSM, Arthroscopy, JBJS Am and KSSTA. The database was used to analyze and compare the papers with respect to their characteristics and citations up to 2019. Basic information for each paper was collected including the author, country, study type and average citations per year (ACY). The most (Top20%) and least (Bottom20%) frequently cited papers were identified and differences were extracted. Results: Five hundred sixteen papers were included with a total of 19,261 citations. Most of the published papers were from the United States (n = 245). On average, a paper received 37.3 citations over the 10-year observation period. The most cited paper was cited 322 times. The most cited study type was randomized controlled trial (RCT) (Ø80.8). The Top20% papers were cited 37 times more often than the Bottom20%. Among the Top20%, the largest group was cohort study (n = 20) followed by case series (n = 19). Among others, the number of authors, the number of keywords and the number of references significantly correlated with the number of citations (p < 0.001). Authors have a multitude of options for journals for publishing their research. However, their choice is mostly based on academic credits required for promotion, cost of publication, timeliness of process, etc., The purpose of this narrative review is to enlighten the authors about some other journal metrics used to assess journal ranking and quality in international scenario. The main concepts discussed in this paper are the impact factor and cite score. The paper includes an explanation of terms like web of science, journal citation reports, and how they are related to impact factor. This will help the authors to make the right decision about choosing the right journal for publishing their research. Along with the historic concepts we have included the latest updates about changes being made to the journal citation report and impact factor released in 2023 June. Background: Journal impact factor (JIF) is a bibliometric proxy of relative journal importance. Mean dermatology JIF has nearly doubled since 1997. The reasons behind the increase have not been previously explored. Objective: To assess factors contributing to rising dermatology JIF. Methods: This bibliometric study utilized publicly-available citation and JIF data from the Thomson-Reuters InCites Journal Citation Reports "Dermatology and Venereology" category, from 1997-2017. Results: From 1997-2017, aggregate dermatology JIF increased by 70%, associated with a 64% increase in JIF numerator (total journal citations) and a 3% decrease in JIF denominator (total journal articles and reviews). In the four highest-JIF journals (JAAD, JAMA Dermatology/Archives of Dermatology, JID, and BJD), there was an increase in citations coming from non-dermatology specialty journals, including oncology, rheumatology, and multidisciplinary sciences. The use of bibliometric indicators, and in particular of the Impact Factor of journals in evaluating the scientific production of researchers, has recently been subjected to international review, highlighting the need to reconsider the peer-review activity as a procedure that allows to recognize the different activities connected to the research of scholars. The article discusses some reports published internationally – DORA, The Leiden Manifesto, Report of the European Commission of 2021 – and highlights the significant connection between good evaluation practices and the Hong Kong Manifesto, dedicated to research integrity and the ethics of research evaluation.

ObjectiveTo study the status and influencing factors of readmission in depression patients. MethodsFrom Chengdu Municipal Medical Insurance Administration, Sichuan province, we collected 25 043 medical and reimbursement records for 16 556 depression patients having hospitalizations during the period from 2013 through 2017; the hospitalization status of the patients was analyzed. Rank-sum test and Chi-square test were used in analysis on hospitalization-related difference among subgroups of the patients; logistic regression model was used to analyze influencing factors of some patients′ readmission. ResultsThe person-times of depression patient's hospitalization for 10 000 population increased from 1.92 in 2013 to 5.35 in 2017 and the person-times was higher for female population than for male population. Among all depression patients studied, the number of readmission within 30 days of discharge was 1 519 and 30-day readmission rate was 9.17%; the total number of readmission during the 5-year period was 3 854 and the 5-year readmission rate was 23.28%. The readmission rate was lower in the patients with medical insurance for urban and rural residents than that in the patients with medical insurance for urban workers. For all the re-hospitalizations recorded, the top three diagnosis at the readmission were mental and behavioural disorders (coded with F00-F99 in International Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, Tenth Revision [ICD-10], accounting for 28.35% of total re-hospitalization), circulatory diseases (I00-I99, 20.17%), and respiratory diseases (J00-J99, 16.27%), respectively. Logistic regression analysis showed that female gender, aged ≥20 years, covered by medical insurance for urban workers, having the hospital stay of ≥ 8 days, and being diagnosed as recurrent depression (ICD-10 code: F33) were significant risk factors for re-hospitalization of depression patients; while, having comorbidity disease and being hospitalized in primary/secondary/tertiary hospital were significant protective factors against readmission. ConclusionThe ratio of readmission was high among depression patients ever being hospitalized in Chengdu city and the re-hospitalization is mainly influenced by gender, age, medical insurance type, length of stay, depression type, comorbidity, and the grade of hospital providing hospitalization.

Over the decades, epistemologists and theorists of tourism have devoted considerable efforts in laying the foundations towards the discipline maturation. This so-called maturation would take the lead when tourism situated not only as a solid object of study but also professional publications reach a the scientific rigorism. The number of publications in the tourism fields has certainly been triplicated in the recent years, but today tourism has many barriers to become in a consolidated option. This happens because of many reasons. One of them associated to the problem of impact factor, the invention of academic prestige and the bibliometric studies. We, in this short note of research, explore the impossibilities, limitations and problems of the current tourism research which remains culturally embraced to impact factor logic. To put things in bluntly, the current obsession for impact factor in the academy is gradually leading the discipline into an unparalleled crisis.
