A facile route has been employed to synthesize a series of high performance activated carbons as the electrode material for supercapacitors. The structure of the carbons are characterized by N2 adsorption/desorption and FTIR spectroscopy. The electrochemical performances of the carbons as an electrode material were evaluated by cyclic voltammetry test and galvanostatic charge/discharge measurements. As a biomass derived carbon, KOH-1 exhibits high capacity, good rate capability and high energy density, indicating the promising application of hydrothermal combining with KOH activation method for biomass materials that used in supercapacitors

Abstract: Nano-graphite/Fe3O4 composite (NG/FC) synthesized through deposition–precipitation method, was developed for the removal of methyl violet (MV) from aqueous solution. The parameters including pH, temperature and shaking time on MV removal efficiency were extensively investigated. The adsorption of MV increased smoothly in the pH range of 2.0–4.0, then remained at a higher level for the pH range of 4.0–10.0, but increased sharply at pH>10.0, which demonstrated that the adsorption was affected strongly by pH. On the other hand, the adsorption capacity was increased sharply with the temperature rising. The adsorption equilibrium time could be reached in 10min. The adsorption thermodynamics and kinetics were also investigated. The equilibrium data could fit the Langmuir isothermal model very well, and the thermodynamic analysis suggested that the adsorption of MV on the nano-graphite/Fe3O4 composites is a spontaneous, physical and endothermic process. To gain deep insight into the adsorption kinetics, both the pseudo-kinetic and particle diffusion models were examined. The results indicated the pseudo-second-order kinetic model fitted the experimental data better and the particle diffusion was proved to be the rate-determining step in the adsorption process of MV on NG/FC. To investigate the role of TopBP1-interacting checkpoint and replication regulator (TICRR) in the tumorigenesis and prognosis of lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) patients. Wilcoxon signed-rank test and logistic regression were utilized to analyze the relationship between clinical characteristics and TICRR expression in LUAD from TCGA dataset. Kaplan-Meier plots and Cox regressions were used to assess the impact of TICRR impact on prognosis. ROC curves and nomograms were generated to further evaluate the relationship between TICRR expression and the risk of LUAD. Gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) was conducted on TCGA dataset, and ssGSEA was employed to investigate the association between TICRR and immune infiltrates. The results showed that high TICRR expression was significantly associated with various clinical factors including gender, age, pathological stage, T stage, N stage, M stage, outcome of primary therapy and smoking status. ROC curves also demonstrated that TICRR was a promising biomarker for molecular pathology diagnosis in LUAD patients (AUC = 0.952). Further analysis using gene ontology (GO) term enrichment and GSEA revealed an abnormal correlation between TICRR expression and cell division. Interestingly, ssGSEA analysis showed that TICRR expression correlated with multiple immune cell types, such as Th2 cell, TFH cell, mast cell, iDC, eosinophils, and dendritic cell. Lastly, the KM-plotters indicated that LUAD patients with high TICRR expression obtained worse life expectancy (P < .001). Purpose: To compare changes in superficial retinal vascular density (SRVD), deep retinal vascular density (DRVD), and retinal thickness (RT) of the macular zone after repeated low-level red light (RLRL) and 0.01% atropine exposure in premyopic schoolchildren., Methods: Prospective randomized trial. Sixty-nine schoolchildren with cycloplegic refraction >-0.75 D and ≤0.50 D were randomly assigned to RLRL and 0.01% atropine groups. SRVD, DRVD, and RT were measured using swept-source optical coherence tomography at baseline and six months. The macular zone was divided into three concentric rings (fovea, parafovea, and perifovea) using the Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study., Results: After six months, the whole, parafoveal, and perifoveal SRVD significantly increased in the two groups (all P < 0.05). Multivariate regression analyses showed that none of these changes varied significantly between the two groups (all P > 0.05), whereas foveal SRVD remained stable in both groups (all P > 0.05). In the RLRL group, the whole and perifoveal DRVD increased significantly (all P < 0.05), whereas no statistical difference was observed in the foveal and parafoveal DRVD. DRVD remained stable in the 0.01% atropine group (all P > 0.05). No significant differences were observed in RT changes between the two groups (all P > 0.05). In comparison, there were no significant changes in SRVD, DRVD, or RT after six months in the placebo group in our previous study., Conclusions: SRVD increased similarly in the RLRL and 0.01% atropine groups, whereas DRVD increased only in the former group. There were no significant RT changes in either group after six months of treatment in premyopic schoolchildren., Translational Relevance: This research observed the effects of low-level red light and 0.01% atropine on retinal vasculature, offering valuable insights into myopia progression prevention.

Objective: To explore the effect of single-dose dexmedetomidine on recovery period after sevoflurane anesthesia with spontaneous respiration in pediatric patients undergoing cleft lip and palate repair., Methods: A total of 60 American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) I-II pediatric patients undergoing cleft lip and palate repair from October to December 2013 were randomly divided into groups D and C (n = 30 each) . Dexmedetomidine 0.5 µg/kg (group D) or an equal volume of normal saline (group C) was ad ministered intravenously over a period of 10 min at 30 min before the end of surgery. Anesthesia was induced and maintained with sevoflurane under spontaneous ventilation. Heart rate, mean arterial pressure (MAP), hemoglobin oxygen saturation (SpO2), respiratory rate, tidal volume (VT) and pressure of end-tidal carbon dioxide (PETCO2) were recorded at the time before induction (T0), 30 min before the end of surgery (T1) , 20 min before the end of surgery (T2), 15 min before the end of surgery (T3), 10 min before the end of surgery (T4), the end of surgery (T5), extubation (T6), 5 min after transferal into post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) (T7) , 1 h after surgery (T8) , extubation time, length of PACU stay, fentanyl consumption and adverse events were all recorded. The incidence and severity of coughing and emergence agitation were assessed., Results: Compared to T0, MAP and heart rate at T1 to T5 all decreased in two groups (P < 0.05). MAP and heart rate at T6 both increased in two groups and group C was higher than group D (P < 0.05). No inter-group differences existed in SpO2, respiratory rate, VT or PETCO2. The incidence of coughing and emergence agitation (30% and 13.3%), fentanyl consumption of group D (0.8 ± 2.1 µg) were all significantly lower than that of group C [(66.7% vs 56.7%) and (4.9 ± 6.50) µg, P < 0.05]. Length of PACU stay in group D was shorter than that in group C [(15 ± 6) vs (23 ± 19) min, P < 0.05]. No inter-group difference existed in extubation time or adverse events., Conclusion: A single intravenous dose of dexmedetomidine is effective in reducing emergence agitation and coughing, shortening length of PACU stay and improving the quality of recovery period after sevoflurane anesthesia in pediatric patients undergoing cleft lip and palate repair.
