Abstract

The first detailed matrix isolation study of cyclopentadiene (Cpd) with strong bases is presented. The new product bands associated with the CH2 symmetric and antisymmetric stretches and the CH2 rock provides a strong evidence for a C-H...N and C-H...O hydrogen bonding interaction between Cpd and bases.

Abstract

The use of organic-soluble Ti(III) complexes as highly efficient catalysts for pinacol homocoupling reaction and the development of ligand-modified catalysts for controlling diastereoselectivity in the reduced coupling of aryl aldehydes was reported. Ligand-modified Ti(III) complexes were found to be effective in catalyzing reductive homocoupling of various carbonyl compounds.
