In 2017, Bangladesh received a sudden influx of Muslim Rohingya refugees from neighboring Myanmar. While the predominantly Muslim host communities initially expressed sympathy for the refugees, the prolonged stay substantially affected their livelihoods, and public sentiment gradually deteriorated. Using an incentivized joy-of-destruction game, we found that as many as 58% of the hosts paid to reduce support for the refugees. Our regression analysis revealed that the more exposed hosts paid significantly more but were not more likely to express negative opinions toward the refugees. This contrast indicates that the incentivized experiment elicited real (not cosmetic) hostility toward the outgroup.

Effective government programmes should be taken up by their potential beneficiaries. This study investigates the factors associated with the decision of Vietnamese small business owners to participate in free business training programmes. Based on the original survey data, I find that most business owners were unaware of the importance of learning business, and thus, did not take up the training offer. The regression analysis, using bivariate probit model, shows that the risk-taking owners and owners with their relatives also invited to the same training were more likely to participate in the training. These findings suggest that providing ex-ante information about the usefulness of the training and allowing group participation can encourage training participation.

[Background]Rats showing spontaneous atopic dermatitis (AD)-like skin lesions were observed in the Kyoto Fancy Rat Stock 4 (KFRS4) strain breeding colony. [Objective]To establish the KFRS4 rat as a model of AD. [Methods]The clinical symptoms of AD-like skin lesions were assessed by scoring the degree of dermatitis and examining scratching behavior. The transepidermal water loss was measured to evaluate skin barrier function. Cells infiltrating the skin lesions were identified using histological and immunohistological analyses. IgE and cytokine levels were measured to examine immune status. An ointment treatment experiment was carried out to characterize dermatitis in the KFRS4 rats. [Results]Dermatitis initially appeared around 4 months of age and rapidly worsened from 6 to 8 months of age. The skin lesions accompanied scratching behavior and were predominantly observed in females. The increased transepidermal water loss indicated skin barrier dysfunction. Extensive infiltration of eosinophils, mast cells and lymphocytes was observed in the skin lesions. The plasma IgE level increased in accord with increasing severity of dermatitis. The Th2 and Th17 cytokine mRNA levels were significantly higher in the skin-draining lymph nodes than those in the non-skin-draining lymph nodes. It was demonstrated that betamethasone improved the symptoms of dermatitis. These findings demonstrated that dermatitis in the KFRS4 rats closely resembled that seen in human AD. [Conclusion]Female KFRS4 rats have the potential to serve as an animal model of human AD.

【背景・目的】本研究は,老人福祉センターを利用する高齢者の足トラブルの実態と,疾患及び足トラブル相互の関連を分析し, 足トラブルが発生するメカニズムの検討を目的とした. 【方法と対象】利用者101名を対象に, 足部の観察と面接調査を行った. 足トラブルと疾患及び足トラブル相互の関連についてχ????検定を用いて分析した. 【結果】足トラブルは足部皮膚乾燥44.6％, 角質肥厚40.6％, 肥厚爪37.6％の順となっていた. 角質肥厚・足部皮膚乾燥・肥厚爪と高血圧に関連が見られた. 足トラブル相互の関連については, 角質肥厚と肥厚爪, 胼胝と巻き爪に有意な関連が見られた. 【結語】高血圧と足トラブルの関連については不明な部分が多いものの, 末梢循環の低下や降圧利尿剤による影響が考えられ, 足部皮膚乾燥や角質肥厚を有する者の割合が高いことから, 重点的フットケア指導が有用と思われる., Background and Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the actual status of foot problems in elderly people visiting welfare centers for elderly citizens and analyze the relationships between diseases and foot problems, as well as the mutual relationships among foot problems, to clarify the mechanisms of development of foot problems. Subjects and Methods : We conducted a survey of the actual status of foot problems by observing the feet and conducting interviews of 101 visitors. The relationships between diseases and foot problems, as well as the mutual relationships among foot problems were analyzed by theχ2test. Results : In regard to foot problems,xerosis cutis of the foot was seen in 44.6％ of the subjects,followed in frequency by skin thickening in 40.6％ and nail thickening in 37.6％ of the subjects. All of xerosis cutis, skin thickening and nail thickening were related to the presence of hypertension. As to the mutual relationships among foot problems, there was a significant association between skin thickening and nail thickening, as well as between callus and ingrowing toenails. Conclusion : Although much remains unknown about the association between hypertension and foot problems, reduction in the peripheral circulatory function and use of antihypertensive diuretic drugs may have an influence. Considering the high rates of xerosis cutis and skin thickening encountered in the subjects,we consider that it would be useful to focus on foot care education for elderly people.

[目 的]喉頭摘出者が,喉頭摘出術の告知後,食道発声の練習を継続できず中断するプロセスを明らかに\nし,看護支援のあり方を検討する.[対象と方法]術後3年以上経過した喉頭摘出者で,食道発声の練習を\n中断した患者8名を対象とした.倫理審査委員会の承認を得て,2005年1月～8月に半構成面接を実施し,修\n正版グラウンデッド・セオリー・アプローチを用いて分析した.[結 果]食道発声における練習中断のプ\nロセスは,[喉頭摘出術の意思決定に対する葛藤][失声に伴うコミュニケーションの回避][患者会参加と食\n道発声練習継続を阻害する否定的感情の白覚]の3つのカテゴリ,11概念から構成された.患者会に適応でき\nない孤独感の増大が,食道発声に対する否定的感情を引き起こし,練習の中断に至った.[結 語]食道発\n声の練習継続を促すには,患者会と看護師の連携強化や実現可能な目標を設定し,練習の成果を白覚できる\nよう支援する必要がある.

[目 的]乳房温存術後の放射線治療を受ける患者に対する乳がん看護認定看護師の看護の実状と課題を明\nらかにする.[対象と方法]日本看護協会ホームページの認定看護師名簿を参照し,無記名式質問紙調査を\n郵送法で実施した.放射線治療前・中・後のケア内容などは選択式回答,課題は白由記述とした.[結 果]\n対象者97名中,有効回答は40名(41.2%)であった.放射線治療前はケア内容の約半数で実施割合が70%を\n超えていた.治療中では約90%の項目で30～50%,治療後ではすべての項目で40～60%の実施割合であっ\nた.課題としては,[質の高い放射線看護の実践],[継続的ケアシステムの確立],[連携の充実]の3カテゴリ\nが抽出された.[結 語]乳房温存術後の放射線治療看護では,放射線治療中・後において専門職を活用し\nた質の高い放射線看護の実践,継続的ケアシステムの確立,連携の充実の強化に取り組む必要がある.
