Background: In families of individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), the added difficulties they face may influence their perception of family quality of life (FQoL). It is important to identify factors which foster their perceived wellbeing and are susceptible to intervention. Our aim was to explore the association between mindful attention and FQoL in these families controlling their perceived social support. Method: Ninety-six parents of people with ASD were evaluated using the Mindful Attention and Awareness Scale (MAAS), the Support Questionnaire for Parents with Children with Disability, and the Spanish Family Quality of Life Scale for families with underage members with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Results: Multiple regression analyses revealed that high levels of mindful attention positively predicted FQoL after controlling the influence of social support. Conclusions: Practical implications are discussed in terms of family support interventions. We conclude that mindful attention interventions may be useful for families with children and adolescents with ASD to improve their FQoL. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background/Objectives: Child parenting programs can enhance parental skills, prevent future issues in child development, and improve children's quality of life. The present research aimed to study the changes promoted by the Family Education and Support Program (FAF) implemented in Cape Verde, regarding parental educational practices, perceived parental efficacy, and attitudes and beliefs of Cape Verdean parents. Methods: To this end, 37 participants were evaluated through a pretest-postest design. The evaluated dimensions were perceived parental competence, parenting practices, Parental attitudes and beliefs, mental health and perceived child quality of life. Results: A cluster analysis was conducted, distinguishing two groups. Both groups benefited from the program. Cluster 1 reported more significant gains in dimensions of parental efficacy and satisfaction, inadequate expectations, affection and support, and reactivity, while cluster 2 showed a greater difference in regulation and reactivity. Conclusions: Overall, the FAF intervention contributed to an increase in positive parenting practices. By analyzing potential underlying profiles in the change process, this study suggests that there are participants who benefit more than others from the intervention, and this information may be relevant for professionals and researchers in the field. Since the well-known publication of the Society for Prevention Research about standards for evidence related to research on prevention interventions, a rigorous evaluation is considered one of the main requirements for evidence-based programmes. Despite their importance, many programmes do not include evaluation designs that meet the most widely agreed quality standards. The aim of this study was to examine the evaluation processes of fifty-seven Spanish programmes identified in the context of the COST European Family Support Network. The obtained results provide a fairly positive picture of the quality of programme evaluation standards, although more designs that include a control group, follow-up evaluations assessing long-term effects, and the evaluation of child and indirect outcomes are needed. The results are discussed from a comprehensive and plural perspective of evaluation which, in addition to methodological rigor, considers the usefulness, feasibility, and ethical rigor of evaluation research.

The prevention science has endorsed standards for evidence related to research on programme evaluation. However, some controversies persist regarding its application in the provision of family support under the European Positive Parenting initiative. This Special Issue aims to map the expansion of preventive family support programmes in Spain and to contrast the quality of the evidence against the prevention standards according with the European Family Support Network. Members of the Spanish Family Support Network made up of entities in several sectors identified 57 programmes implemented in Spain and filled in a formative evaluation sheet for each programme. The articles in this issue analysed the results of four main aspects in all programmes: description, implementation, evaluation, and impact/sustainability. The findings will inform the scope and variety of support provided and the quality of programmes in Spain, providing guidelines for improvement and addressing challenges to reinforce quality assurance in child and family services.
The investigation analyzes the impact generated on the finances of the anonymous manufacturing companies of the Metropolitan District of Quito of the Eloy Alfaro and Quitumbe zonal administrations that availed themselves of the agreement for the forgiveness of fines, interest and tax surcharges of the year 2018 promulgated in the Reactivation Law Economical. Arguments are presented from the taxpayer's point of view to support the extent to which these referral processes have contributed to improving liquidity and generating a source of savings. The mechanisms that were established by the Internal Revenue Service for the cancellation of taxes by companies, mostly micro, small and medium-sized, are detailed, and the figures that entered the fiscal coffers as a result of the tax procedure are reviewed. amnesty based on a comparison of collections from previous years to identify the increase in funds collected in the period in which these forgiveness agreements were applied. Deductive and descriptive methods and a finite sample were used to obtain the information. The investigation determines that tax forgiveness agreements generate added value in companies and are efficient for the State in raising funds in tax matters, however it is recommended that these processes should be enacted in specific circumstances and not as a policy of periodic application. The most relevant conclusion refers to the benefit that referral agreements represent for the finances of companies in terms of liquidity of their resources, from which the need to improve and strengthen the tax culture and awareness of taxpayers is derived through mechanisms of suitable information from the administration.

- Abstract
Mental health problems during adolescence constitute a major public health concern today for both families and stakeholders. Accordingly, different family-based interventions have emerged as an effective treatment for adolescents with certain disorders. Specifically, there is evidence of the effectiveness of concrete approaches of systemic family therapy on the symptoms of adolescents and family functioning in general. However, few studies have examined the effectiveness of other relevant approaches, such as structural and strategic family therapy, incorporating parent–child or parental dyadic measurement. The purpose of this study was to test the effectiveness of a structural–strategic family therapy with adolescents involved in mental health services and their families. For this purpose, 41 parents and adolescents who participated in this treatment were interviewed at pre-test and post-test, providing information on adolescent behavior problems, parental sense of competence, parental practices, parenting alliance, and family functioning. Regardless of participants’ gender, adolescents exhibited fewer internalizing and externalizing problems after the treatment. Parents reported higher family cohesion, higher satisfaction and perceived efficacy as a parent, and healthier parental practices (less authoritarian and permissive practices, as well as more authoritative ones). An interaction effect between parenting alliance and gender was found, with more favorable results for the mothers. In conclusion, this paper provides evidence of the usefulness of structural–strategic family therapy for improving family, dyadic, and individual facets in families with adolescents exhibiting mental health problems.

Escherichia coli is an indicator bacterium of fecal matter in water and some serotypes can be pathogenic for humans. Quantifying the presence of this type of coliform in water is vital in order to provide safety and quality to the integrated water cycle. Although monitoring this type of microorganism is very important, in recent years there has not been much progress in this area, since analytical techniques are expensive, slow and require qualified personnel. The recent progress in biosensors has opened up a range of possibilities that can improve bacterial detection. This project presents a retention system integrated with an immuno-based biosensor that can detect a higher than 102 concentration of this bacterium, but it is still in development stages. Some aspects to improve the system have been studied, such as the integration of the process inside the retention system or the reduction of time. In addition, aptamers have been considered as an alternative to antibodies, as they are more stable. After the tests, the time of the protocol was reduced and certain stages were successfully integrated within the system. Some other stages though, could not be satisfactorily integrated, so further work is needed to know more about interactions. Although there's more work ahead to make the process adequate, we have made a step towards obtaining a fast, in situ, sensitive biosensor that can be able to monitor the water quality in the industrial sector. Parental sense of competence is one of the central dimensions targeted on psychosocial interventions aimed at supporting at-risk families. Researchers and practitioners need reliable instruments to assess the parental role adapted for these families. Although the Parental Sense of Competence (PSOC) scale has been frequently used to assess this construct, there is still no adapted version for Portuguese parents. In this study, the reliability, validity, and factor structure of the PSOC scale is examined with a clinical sample of 146 mothers from at-risk families receiving psychosocial interventions for family preservation from Child Protective Services. Results show that the Portuguese version of the PSOC measures three distinct constructs with acceptable psychometric properties: Efficacy, dissatisfaction, and controllability. As expected, the obtained factors were significantly and positively related to parenting alliance and family cohesion, and negatively associated with parenting stress. In sum, the proposed Portuguese version shows reliability and validity evidences to measure three relevant dimensions of parental self-evaluation, and it constitutes a cost- and time-effective instrument suited for at-risk mothers. The main aim of the present study was to examine the factor structure, internal consistency, and some additional psychometric properties of the Antisocial Process Screening Device-Self-Report (APSD-SR) among a large forensic sample of incarcerated male juvenile offenders ( N = 438). The results, based on this forensic sample, support the use of the APSD-SR in terms of its factor structure, and internal consistency despite the fact an item had to be removed from the callous-unemotional (CU) dimension. Statistically significant positive associations were found with measures of psychopathic traits, CU traits, narcissism, and aggression, as well as negative associations with a measure of empathy. Findings provide support for the use of the APSD-SR among the incarcerated male juvenile offender population.

The analysis and study of the management indicators currently applicable to companies engaged in the provision of health services can prove the importance of assessing and measuring by a thorough and systematic study the necessary indexes to evaluate the degree of its utility and efficiency in the optimization of resources, quality of services and further provide comparative information between health entities regarding the service provided. Management indicators are measures used to determine the success of a process or task assigned as appropriate to the efficient use of given resources. Management indicators are then used continuously throughout the business lifecycle, to evaluate the performance and results of organizations in all procedures.

- Abstract

However, few studies have examined the effectiveness of other relevant approaches, such as structural and strategic family therapy, incorporating parent⁻child or parental dyadic measurement. The purpose of this study was to test the effectiveness of a structural⁻strategic family therapy with adolescents involved in mental health services and their families. For this purpose, 41 parents and adolescents who participated in this treatment were interviewed at pre-test and post-test, providing information on adolescent behavior problems, parental sense of competence, parental practices, parenting alliance, and family functioning. Regardless of participants' gender, adolescents exhibited fewer internalizing and externalizing problems after the treatment. Parents reported higher family cohesion, higher satisfaction and perceived efficacy as a parent, and healthier parental practices (less authoritarian and permissive practices, as well as more authoritative ones). An interaction effect between parenting alliance and gender was found, with more favorable results for the mothers. In conclusion, this paper provides evidence of the usefulness of structural⁻strategic family therapy for improving family, dyadic, and individual facets in families with adolescents exhibiting mental health problems.
