An increasing adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) is expected in the coming decades mainly due to the need to achieve carbon neutrality until 2050. However, predicting electric mobility's future is challenging due to three main factors: technological advancements, regulatory policies, and consumer behaviour. The projections presented in this study are based on several scenarios driven mainly from reports published by public entities and consultants. It considers the evolution of electric road mobility by defined targets in the electrification of the transport sector. Therefore, the gathered data addresses different horizon times regarding EV penetration in the World, Europe, Portugal, Denmark, Greece, and Slovenia. Thus, an extensive literature review and estimating approach for EV forecast was conducted concerning EV markets, charging infrastructure, and electricity demand. Objective: Understanding variables associated with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine confidence and hesitancy may inform strategies to improve vaccine uptake in clinical settings such as the emergency department (ED). We aim to identify factors contributing to COVID-19 vaccine acceptance and to assess patient attitudes surrounding offering COVID-19 vaccines in the ED., Methods: We conducted a survey of a convenience sample of patients and patient visitors over the age 18 years, who were native English or Spanish speakers. The survey was conducted from March through August 2021 at 3 EDs in New York City. The survey was administered via an electronic format, and participants provided verbal consent., Results: Our sample size was 377. Individuals with post-graduate degrees viewed vaccines positively (Prevalence Ratio [PR], 1.63; 95% Confidence Interval [CI], 1.07-2.47).  Of the various high-risk medical conditions associated with adverse COVID-19 infection outcomes, diabetes was the only condition associated with more positive views of vaccines (PR, 1.37; CI, 1.17-1.59). Of all participants, 71.21% stated that they believed offering a COVID-19 vaccine in the ED was a good idea. Of unvaccinated participants, 21.80% stated they would get vaccinated if it were offered to them in the ED., Conclusion: EDs can serve as a safety net for vulnerable populations and can act as an access point for vaccination., (© 2022 The Authors. Purpose: To compare anterior segment parameters, assessed by anterior segment optical coherence tomography (ASOCT), in subjects categorized as primary angle closure suspect (PACS), primary angle closure (PAC), primary angle closure glaucoma (PACG), and previous acute PAC (APAC); and to identify factors associated with APAC., Methods: This was a prospective ASOCT study of 425 subjects with angle closure (176 PACS, 66 PAC, 125 PACG, and 58 APAC). Customized software was used to measure ASOCT parameters, including angle opening distance (AOD750), trabecular-iris space area (TISA750), anterior chamber depth, width, area and volume (ACD, ACW, ACA, ACV), iris thickness (IT750), iris area (IAREA), and lens vault (LV). Mean differences in anterior segment parameters were evaluated by analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) adjusted for age, sex, and pupil diameter (PD)., Results: Comparison among the different subgroups showed that ACD, ACA, and ACV were smallest, and IT750 thickest in the APAC group compared with the other subgroups (P < 0.001). LV was greatest in the APAC group (1218 ± 34 μm) followed by PAC (860 ± 31 μm), PACG (845 ± 23 μm), and PACS (804 ± 19 μm), respectively (P = <0.001). While the APAC group had the narrowest angles, the PACS group had the widest (P < 0.001 for both AOD750 and TISA750). Logistic regression showed that greater LV (P = <0.001), narrower TISA750 (P = <0.001), and thicker IT750 (P = 0.007) were the major determinants of APAC., Conclusions: Eyes with APAC had the narrowest angles, smallest anterior segment dimensions, thickest iris, and largest LV compared with PACS, PAC, and PACG. LV, TISA750, and IT750 were the major determinants of APAC.

The neural circuitry of the lumbar spinal cord can generate alternating extension and flexion of the hindlimbs. The hindlimbs of adult cats with complete transection of the spinal cord at a low thoracic level (T12-T13) can perform full weight-supporting locomotion on a treadmill belt moving at a range of speeds. Some limitations in the locomotor capacity can be associated with a deficit in the recruitment level of the fast extensors during the stance phase and the flexors during the swing phase of a step cycle. The level of locomotor performance, however, can be enhanced by daily training on a treadmill while emphasizing full weight-support stepping and by providing appropriately timed sensory stimulation, loading, and/or pharmacologic stimulation of the hindlimb neuromuscular apparatus. Furthermore, there appears to be an interactive effect of these interventions. For example, the maximum treadmill speed that a spinal adult cat can attain and maintain is significantly improved with daily full weight-supporting treadmill training, but progressive recruitment of fast extensors becomes apparent only when the hindlimbs are loaded by gently pulling down on the tail during the stepping. Stimulation of the sural nerve at the initiation of the flexion phase of the step cycle can likewise markedly improve the locomotor capability. Administration of clonidine, in particular in combination with an elevated load, resulted in the most distinct and consistent alternating bursts of electromyographic activity during spinal stepping. These data indicate that the spinal cord has the ability to execute alternating activation of the extensor and flexor musculature of the hindlimbs (stepping) and that this ability can be improved by several interventions such as training, sensory stimulation, and use of some pharmacologic agents. Thus, it appears that the spinal cord, without supraspinal input, is highly plastic and has the potential to "learn," that is, to acquire and improve its ability to execute full weight-supporting locomotion on a treadmill belt.
