Purpose The main characteristics of mechanically ventilated ARDS patients affected with COVID-19, and the adherence to lung-protective ventilation strategies are not well known. We describe characteristics and outcomes of confirmed ARDS in COVID-19 patients managed with invasive mechanical ventilation (MV). Methods This is a multicenter, prospective, observational study in consecutive, mechanically ventilated patients with ARDS (as defined by the Berlin criteria) affected with with COVID-19 (confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection in nasal or pharyngeal swab specimens), admitted to a network of 36 Spanish and Andorran intensive care units (ICUs) between March 12 and June 1, 2020. We examined the clinical features, ventilatory management, and clinical outcomes of COVID-19 ARDS patients, and compared some results with other relevant studies in non-COVID-19 ARDS patients. Results A total of 742 patients were analysed with complete 28-day outcome data: 128 (17.1%) with mild, 331 (44.6%) with moderate, and 283 (38.1%) with severe ARDS. At baseline, defined as the first day on invasive MV, median (IQR) values were: tidal volume 6.9 (6.3–7.8) ml/kg predicted body weight, positive end-expiratory pressure 12 (11–14) cmH2O. Values of respiratory system compliance 35 (27–45) ml/cmH2O, plateau pressure 25 (22–29) cmH2O, and driving pressure 12 (10–16) cmH2O were similar cto values from non-COVID-19 ARDS observed in other studies. Recruitment maneuvers, prone position and neuromuscular blocking agents were used in 79%, 76% and 72% of patients, respectively. The risk of 28-day mortality was lower in mild ARDS [hazard ratio (RR) 0.56 (95% CI 0.33–0.93), p = 0.026] and moderate ARDS [hazard ratio (RR) 0.69 (95% CI 0.47–0.97), p = 0.035] when compared to severe ARDS. The 28-day mortality was similar to other observational studies in non-COVID-19 ARDS patients. Conclusions In this large series, COVID-19 ARDS patients have features similar to other causes of ARDS, compliance with lung-protective ventilation was high, and the risk of 28-day mortality increased with the degree of ARDS severity. Background. Homelessness is a serious public health problem that affects more than 31.000 people in Spain. It is a population that is aging, with important consequences for their health, causing among other things a greater prevalence of chronic diseases. Also, within this aging homeless population, there is a high proportion of people who use drugs, they are called "aging drug users". This consumption adds a risk to an already vulnerable population. Aim. Describe the population of aging problematic drug users regarding the age of onset of the first chronic diseases and compare it with the rest of the homeless population depending on drug use, both those who have a non-problematic consumption and those who do not use drugs. Methods. A retrospective cohort study was conducted in the homeless population served in the city of Girona from 2006 to 2016.The information includes clinical data from January 1, 2000 to December 31, 2016, collected thanks to electronic records of primary care and the mental health centre of Girona. Data included sociodemographic, chronic and infectious diseases, substance misuse disorder. The average healthy months and years the person passes until the onset of the first chronic diseases is compared in the 3 different groups of consumption using the Kruskal- Walls test. The Kaplan-Meier test was used to determine the probability of being healthy over time in the 3 consumption groups. Results. The sample consisted of 492 participants. Homeless men were accounted for 84.5% of the sample. The mean age of the cohort was 49.7 years (SD 11,09) for men and 49.29 years (SD 13,6) for women. In relation to drug use, 59.1% of the sample has no substance misuse problem, 31,9% had a non-problematic drug use, and 18,1% of the total were problem drug users. About chronic diseases that were recorded in the electronic registry of the PCC, 152 people had al least one. We focus now only on those people over 40, who represent 80% of the sample. Within this older group, non-consumers still are the larger group, representing 44.9% of the people over 40. Aging problematic drug users represent 14% of the sample and those people over 40 who use other drugs represent 21,1% of the sample. Within this aging group, we have the date of diagnosis of the different chronic diseases registered of 115 people. The age of onset of the first chronic disease for each group is; 42,2 years for aging problematic drug users, 52,25 years for other drug use group and 51,25 years for no substance misuse group. Conclusions. We can conclude that there are differences in the time of appearance of chronic diseases in individuals experiencing homelessness classified depending on their drug consumption, being the "aging problematic drug users" those exposed to an earlier onset of them. However, we cannot assure the association between consumption and the age of appearance

This work presents the relationship between music, emotions and youth. The aim is to approach the taste for music, the music genres that youth listen to, and the main emotions, as well as why they like music and what it is used for in their lives. It starts from the idea of the importance of music in the daily life of young people and its impact on the emotional world, on other areas, such as cognitive or behavioral. Focus groups were conducted with adolescents and young people. The result shows the diversity of youthful musical taste, and it is stated that music serves firstly to relax, secondly to feel good, and thirdly to have fun. This shows a wise emotional self-regulation, beyond the identity or pure entertainment and fun that youth studies point out. Este trabajo presenta la relación entre música, emociones y juventud. El objetivo es realizar un acercamiento al gusto por la música, los géneros de música que escuchan las juventudes y las principales emociones. Además de por qué gusta la música y para qué sirve en sus vidas. Se parte de la idea de la importancia de la música en la vida cotidiana juvenil y su incidencia en el mundo emocional, sobre otros ámbitos, como el cognitivo o el comportamental. Se realizaron grupos focales con adolescentes y jóvenes. El resultado muestra la diversidad del gusto musical juvenil y se afirma que la música sirve, en primer lugar, para relajarse. En segundo lugar, sentirse bien y, en tercer lugar, divertirse. Lo cual muestra una sabia autorregulación emocional, más allá de la identidad o del puro entretenimiento y diversión que los estudios de juventud señalan.

Màster de Formació del professorat d'Educació Secundària i Batxillerat UPF-UOC Tutor: Miquel Nistal Mentores: Glòria Pegueroles i Carol Galiana El present Treball final de màster es centra en analitzar la relació d’aplicar noves metodologies d'aula basades en treball cooperatiu per dos grups classe de 1r d'ESO (n~60) i de treball per projectes per dos grups classe de 1r de Batxillerat (n~60) amb: i) la millora dels nivells d'autoconcepte (incloent les 5 dimensions: acadèmica, social, emocional, familiar i física), ii) els nivells de motivació vers les assignatures, iii) el clima d'aula a les classes de ciències. A més, s'analitza si hi ha un efecte selectiu per gènere en la millora de l’autoconcepte tenint en compte les puntuacions pre i post intervenció dels alumnes.

Aquest treball té com a objectiu principal veure quins canvis ha sofert la roba esportiva dins del surf i com han evolucionat els elements més significatius d'aquesta roba per, finalment, realitzar la creació dels elements gràfics més representatius sobre una marca de surf, especialitzada en roba esportiva. L’article presenta el procés de creació del programa educatiu del Conjunt rupestre de la Roca dels Moros del Cogul, resultat d’una feina col·laborativa entre l’Àrea de Monuments i Jaciments de l’Agència Catalana del Patrimoni Cultural, l’empresa INSITU Patrimoni i Turisme i la responsable del Conjunt rupestre. En primer lloc s’exposen tant la interpretació del Conjunt com la filosofia educativa de l’Àrea de Monuments i Jaciments, els dos pilars sobre els quals es construeix el programa educatiu. Seguidament s’explica la metodologia de treball desenvolupada per concebre i dissenyar aquest programa així com les seves característiques fonamentals. El resultat d’aquesta feina col·laborativa és un conjunt d’activitats de tipus mediació – taller fonamentades en la coeducació, que segueixen els principis competencials de cada àrea de coneixement i que prioritzen el treball cooperatiu, la iniciativa i l’autonomia de l’alumnat, i la reflexió continuada. This article presents the creation process of the educational program of the Roca dels Moros rock shelter (Cogul, Lleida), end result of collaborative working between the monuments and archaeological sites area of the Agència Catalana del Patrimoni Cultural, INSITU Patrimoni i Turisme and the responsible for the rock shelter. First of all, both the interpretation of the rock shelter and the educational philosophy of the monuments and archaeological sites area, pillars upon which the educational program is based, are outlined. Work methodology developed for conceive and design the educational program as well as its characteristics are explained next. The end result of this collaborative working is a set of mediation-workshop activities based on coeducation that follow the competential principles of each knowledge area and prioritize cooperative work, student’s initiative and autonomy, and continuous reflection.

Drinking water disinfection is one of the major public health triumphs of the last century. However, it has the unintended consequence of forming disinfection by-products (DBPs). Iodine containing DBPs have been recently reported to be more toxic than bromine containing DBPs, which are also much more toxic than chlorine containing DBPs. Seawater impacted groundwaters may have elevated levels of bromide and iodide, and if used to produce drinking water, high concentrations of bromo and iodo-DBPs may form. In this context, the present study aimed at investigating the formation of two chemical classes of DBPS, i.e., haloacetic acids (HAAs) and haloacetamides (HAcAms) in seawater impacted groundwaters under chlorination and chloramination. In order to do this, lab-scale disinfection reactions at pH 7 and 8 were carried out with two different groundwater matrices containing various amounts of sea water (0%, 0.5%, 1% and 2%). The DBP mixtures generated were chemically characterized in order to assess the occurrence of HAAs and HAcAms. HAAs and HAcAms are low molecular weight compounds, very polar and not very volatile, and therefore, they are amenable to liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry detection (LC-MS), although they are commonly measured by means of gas chromatography techniques. In this work, the development of LC-MS/MS based analytical methodologies was attempted for the analysis of these compounds in the generated DBP mixtures. LC-MS/MS conditions were successfully optimized for the determination of these compounds. However, analyte extraction has to be further optimized, in particular for HAcAms, in oder to improve analyte recoveries (especially for the trihalogenated species that were not recovered with the applied analytical methodologies). Method sensitivities allowed the quantification of the monohalogenated and dihalogenated species in the ng/L range. Moreover, the stability of the analytes in the extracts and in the standard solutions should be further investigated, in order to ensure reliability of the results. All monohalogenated and dihalogenated DBPs were found in the investigated samples. The formation of iodo-DBPs was enhanced during chloramination scenarios. However, there is not a direct relation between iodo-DBP formation and increasing amounts of seawater in the source waters. On the contrary, the seawater content of the tested waters had an effect on the speciation of bromine containing and chlorine containing HAAs, by increasing brominated species at increasing seawater amounts.

Journal Article; Review; The multikinase inhibitor sorafenib is, at present, the only drug approved for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), one of the most lethal types of cancer worldwide. However, the increase in the number of sorafenib tumor resistant cells reduces efficiency. A better knowledge of the intracellular mechanism of the drug leading to reduced cell survival could help to improve the benefits of sorafenib therapy. Autophagy is a bulk cellular degradation process activated in a broad range of stress situations, which allows cells to degrade misfolded proteins or dysfunctional organelles. This cellular route can induce survival or death, depending on cell status and media signals. Sorafenib, alone or in combination with other drugs is able to induce autophagy, but cell response to the drug depends on the complex integrative crosstalk of different intracellular signals. In cancerous cells, autophagy can be regulated by different cellular pathways (Akt-related mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) inhibition, 5' AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) induction, dissociation of B-cell lymphoma 2 (Bcl-2) family proteins from Beclin-1), or effects of some miRNAs. Inhibition of mTOR signaling by sorafenib and diminished interaction between Beclin-1 and myeloid cell leukemia 1 (Mcl-1) have been related to induction of autophagy in HCC. Furthermore, changes in some miRNAs, such as miR-30α, are able to modulate autophagy and modify sensitivity in sorafenib-resistant cells. However, although AMPK phosphorylation by sorafenib seems to play a role in the antiproliferative action of the drug, it does not relate with modulation of autophagy. In this review, we present an updated overview of the effects of sorafenib on autophagy and its related activation pathways, analyzing in detail the involvement of autophagy on sorafenib sensitivity and resistance. La tesi que presentem és una descripció rigorosa de la vida escènica de la ciutat de Tarragona durant el període comprès entre els anys 1864 i 1880. De manera més concreta, posa especial atenció a les manifestacions del teatre català partint d’una aproximació polièdrica al fenomen de l’espectacle. En aquest sentit, s’allunya d’una visió centrada exclusivament en dramaturg/text i el seu context històric i literari i analitza, a més, els espais que empararen els espectacles, així com els intèrprets que van donar-los vida. La metodologia seguida ha estat, més enllà de la recerca en fons històrics, biblioteques i altres centres de documentació, el buidatge sistemàtic dels fons hemerogràfics locals, material bàsic en el capítol dedicat a l’anàlisi de la cartellera. L’objectiu principal que perseguim és ubicar la realitat teatral tarragonina vuitcentista dins de la realitat teatral del conjunt de l’àrea catalanòfona, i entendre com es van rebre i assimilar diversos canvis en la dinàmica espectacular del Dinou. A diferència de la resta d’àmbits estudiats, el període temporal de l’anàlisi de la cartellera és volgudament restringit. Aprofundeix en un dels estadis més significatius del procés pel qual els escriptors i, en especial, els dramaturgs van assumir que el català no només era llengua de tribu, sinó que també era llengua de polis, prenent els mots de Joaquim Mallafrè. Així, a partir de la dècada dels 60 i amb el detonant de l’èxit de Frederic Soler als teatres d’estiu del passeig de Gràcia (1864), es depassa l’estadi del sainet cap a formes dramàtiques de més volada (BACARDIT I GIBERT 2003: 108) i es consolida una cultura popular en català., La tesis es una descripción rigurosa de la vida escénica de la ciudad de Tarragona durante el periodo comprendido entre los años 1864 y 1880. De manera más concreta, pone especial atención a las manifestaciones del teatro catalán partiendo de una aproximación poliédrica al fenómeno del espectáculo. En este sentido, se aleja de una visión centrada exclusivamente en el dramaturgo/texto y su contexto histórico y literario y analiza, además, los espacios que ampararon los espectáculos, así como los intérpretes que les dieron vida. La metodología seguida ha sido, más allá de la investigación en fondos históricos, bibliotecas y otros centros de documentación, el vaciado sistemático de los fondos hemerográficos locales, material básico en el capítulo dedicado al análisis de la cartelera. El objetivo principal que perseguimos es ubicar la realidad teatral decimonónica de Tarragona dentro de la realidad teatral del conjunto del área catalanohablante, i entender cómo se recibieron y asimilaron diferentes cambios en la dinámica espectacular del siglo XIX. A diferencia del resto de ámbitos estudiados, el periodo temporal del análisis de la cartelera está restringido a propósito. Profundiza en uno de los estadios más significativos del proceso por el cual los escritores y, en especial, los dramaturgos, asumieron que el catalán no solo era lengua de tribu, sino que también era lengua de polis. Así, a partir de la década de los 60 y con el detonante del éxito de Frederic Soler en los teatros de verano del Barcelona (1864), se superó el estadio del sainete hacia formas dramáticas de más envergadura y se consolidó una cultura popular en catalán. En definitiva, esta tesis es una contribución al estudio de la escena decimonónica catalana que parte de este estadio concreto y de una perspectiva local, y que se amplía a lo largo del siglo y el territorio., This thesis is an accurate description of the theatrical life in Tarragona between 1964 and 1880. More specifically, it focuses on the Catalan dramatic performances starting from a polyhedric approach to the artistic event. Accordingly, our vision is not centred exclusively on the playwright/play and its historical and literary context, but also analyses the spaces in which they were performed and the performers who brought them to life. The methodology followed for the study, beyond the research on historical collections, libraries and other documentation centres, has been the systematic extraction of the local newspaper archives, fundamental data in the chapter regarding the billboard analysis. The major objective of this study is to place the Tarragona’s nineteenth-century theatrical life within the context of the theatrical life in the whole Catalan-speaking area and understand how different changes on the performing arts during this period were received and assimilated. In contrast with the rest of the studied subjects, the billboard analysis covers a deliberately limited period of time. This part goes more deeply into the phase of the process in which the writers, and particularly the playwrights, assumed the fact that the Catalan language was not just language of the tribe but also city language, in the words of Joaquim Mallafrè. Thus, since the 1860s and alongside the tipping point of Frederic Soler’s success in the Passeig de Gràcia summer theatres (1864), the sainet stage is left behind for higher dramatic forms (BACARDIT I GIBERT 2003: 108) and a folk culture in Catalan language is consolidated.

Comunicación presentada al XIV Workshop Rebiun de Poyectos Digitales / VI Jornadas OS-Repositorios (Córdoba, 11-13 de marzo de 2015) FUTUR, el Portal de la Producción Científica de los Investigadores de la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, ha sido desarrollado por el Servicio de Bibliotecas, Publicaciones y Archivos, con la colaboración del Servicio de Información de Investigación, Desarrollo e Innovación gestor del sistema de información de la investigación de la universidad (CRIS). El proyecto ha sido el resultado de la evolución del antiguo portal de investigación de la Universidad y cuyos objetivos son por un lado dar conocer al mundo toda la investigación de todos los investigadores de la Universidad, también incrementar la visibilidad y el impacto de los resultados de la investigación de la UPC en Internet y finalmente ofrecer a todos los investigadores de la Universidad una página personal corporativa. El portal, facilita información académica de los investigadores en activo de la Universidad: profesores, investigadores, investigadores en formación y personal de soporte a la investigación, a partir de la producción científico-técnica introducida por estos en el CRIS, mostrando las actividades de investigación incluidas en el proceso de evaluación de la UPC: las publicaciones, las patentes y los proyectos de investigación realizados. El origen de la información que contiene FUTUR es principalmente el CRIS, infomación complementada con la de los repositorios institucionales UPCommons y TDX/TDR (Tesis Doctorales en Red), el catálogo de la biblioteca, el directorio de personal e Invenes, la base de datos de patentes del gobierno español En el portal muestran tres tipos de contenidos; las actividades (publicaciones, trabajos, presentaciones, premios, tesis, patentes, proyectos RDi, documentos científico-técnicos o informes de investigación entre otros), los datos y actividades de los investigadores vinculados a la Universidad y la información de la actividades de departamentos, centros docentes, institutos y campus. Contenidos acompañados de gráficos e histogramas para una mejor visualización y que el caso de los datos del investigador se le facilita la posibilidad de incorporar información no disponible en las fuentes del portal como fotografía, redes sociales, blogs, palabras clave que definan su actividad etc? La tecnología utilizada para el desarrollo de FUTUR se ha basado en PHP, PostgreSQL, como motor de bases de datos, HTML 5 + CSS 3, Apache Solr como motor de búsqueda y como protocolos y lenguajes de intercambio de datos para la recolección y compartición de estos: SOA, OAI-PMH, RSS y XML. A la vez, la estructura del portal se compone de cuatro módulos: importación, recolección de datos, carga del motor de búsqueda, carga de base de datos y el portal público. Además de la evolución y mejora del anterior portal de investigación, este desarrollo ha permitido mejorar la integración de los sistemas de información y la calidad de la información mostrada, incrementar el trabajo transversal y la colaboración con otras unidades de la Universidad, que nos va a facilitar afrontar nuevos retos como H2020 y la Ley de la Ciencia y seguir avanzando en la política institucional a favor del acceso abierto. Finalmente otro efecto de esta tarea ha sido el aumento del valor y la participación del Servicio de Bibliotecas en el flujo de trabajo de la investigación. El portal, ha contribuido a dar más servicios a los investigadores como el soporte a la creación de identificadores personales (ORCID, etc.), mostrar la información que de ellos aparece en Google Scholar o la ayuda en trámites para la obtención de tramos de investigación En explotación desde abril de 2014, se está trabajando en nuevas funcionalidades como estadísticas de consulta, la exportación a formatos como Excel y BIBTex, la viabilidad de enviar e importar datos de ORCID o la importación de CORDIS. En enero de 2015, la información disponible en el portal ha referencia a 3.288 investigadores, 303 unidades (departamentos, institutos, campus,?) 179.204 publicaciones, 4.826 tesis doctorales, 953 patentes y 9.715 proyectos I + D de investigación.
