The liver has a big potential for self-healing, but the activity of regeneration decreases with age. Changes are occurring, including in the functional activity of various liver cell populations, the study of the characteristics of which can become the basis for the development of new therapeutic approaches to the liver diseases treatment at older people. The aim of this research was to study the level of stem and progenitor cells and the functional activity of the healthy liver from age- different rats. Material and methods. Experiments were carried out on Wistar rats aged 6 and 12 months. Ultrasound and histological examination of the liver from rats was used to assess morphological changes. The lipid profile of blood serum was evaluated by biochemical methods. Cytometric methods were used to study the surface and intracellular antigens of stem and progenitor cells isolated from the bone marrow, arterial blood and liver of rats. Results and discussion. In 12-month-old male Wistar rats, compared with 6-month-old rats, excessive formation of extracellular matrix components, disruption of tissue architecture, development of portal hypertension, as well as an increase in the concentration of cholesterol, triglycerides, high- and low-density lipoproteins were revealed. We identified age- related differences in the content of hematopoietic and mesenchymal stem cells, epithelial cells (CD45–CD326+) in the bone marrow, blood and liver of rats. In the liver parenchyma, the populations of hepatocyte precursors (CD45– CD326+CD133+), oval cells (CD45–CD326+CD133+CD90+). At the same time, the level of all cell populations in the liver parenchyma of rats expressing the intracellular marker Sox9 was higher in one-year-old animals compared to younger ones, regardless of the cell phenotype. Conclusions. In the liver of 12-month-old rats, compared to 6-month-old rats, the number of cells expressing Sox9, lymphocytes with an inflammatory phenotype increases, the number of stem cells and various populations of epithelial and endothelial cells decreases, which leads to a decrease in the regenerative capacity of the liver, disruption of the tissue architecture of the organ and changes in lipid metabolism. These changes largely determine the increased susceptibility with age to the development of chronic liver diseases.

The aim of this research was to investigate the regenerative potential of stem and progenitor cells derived from the pancreas and testes in metabolic disorders.Materials and methods. The experiments were performing on C57Bl/6 mice. Metabolic disorders (MD) were modeling by streptozotocin and fat diet. Morphological methods were used to assess morphopathological changes in the pancreas and testicular tissue and fertility. We investigated the insulin expression in the islets of Langerhans, CD16 in testes by immunohistochemical methods. We evaluated the blood lipids, level of glucose, inflammatory mediators, testosterone and a glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide levels in biological samples by biochemical methods and ELISA. We used cytometric methods to study the surface markers of stem and progenitor cells, culture methods and transplantation test to investigate the regenerative potential of stem and progenitor cells.Results. After streptozotocin injection and fatty diet we observed the metabolic imbalance of lipids, testosterone, glucose and insulin resistance in C57BL/6 male mice. The inflammation, type 2 diabetes, asthenoand oligozoospermia were developed and the fertility index was decreased after the metabolic disorders. We observed the increase of oligopotent β-cell precursors (CD45- TER119- CD133+CD49flow) and precursors of hemangiogenesis (CD45- TER119- cKit-1+Flk-1+) count in the pancreas, spermatogonial stem cells (CD117- CD90+ and CD117+CD90+) and precursors of hemangiogenesis (CD45- TER119- cKit-1+Flk-1+) in the testes in MD. Stem and progenitor cells had a high clonal activity and self-renewal capacity, the ability to differentiate into mature cells in vitro, the effective engrafment in injured tissue.Conclusions. In experiments in vitro and in vivo we detected a high regenerative potential of precursors of hemangiogenesis and insulin-producing β-cells, spermatogonial stem cells of C57BL/6 male mice with metabolic disorders. Low rates of regeneration of the microvasculature, insulin-producing β-cells and germ cells in metabolic disorders are associated with the inhibitory effect of diabetic factors and inflammation on stem and progenitor cells.

The aim was to analyze the prognostic value of ventilation/ gas exchange dissociation markers to predict the treatment length in patients with the acute phase of COVID-19.Materials and methods: The analysis was performed using a database of 384 randomly selected patients from December 2021 to May 2022 with a confirmed diagnosis of the acute phase of COVID-19, aged 61±16 years. Spirometry of maximal inspiratory pressure (MIP) and maximal expiratory pressure (MEP) was performed on 2,2±0,2 day of hospitalization with a portable MicroRPM device (CareFusion, UK) and measurement of surrogate oxygenation index (SpO2/FiO2), ROX index (SpO2/ FiO2)/respiratory rate) was carried out in all patients. Log-regression models were used (STATISTICA 10) to determine cutoff values for these functional variables and their ability to predict the patients length of hospital stay from the date of examination (≤ 7 vs > 7 days).Results: The lowest sensitivity (SE) and specificity (SP) were shown in models using only the respiratory muscle strength markers MIP (SE=54%, SP=70%) and MEP (SE=73%, SP=47%), that were the same in the combination of MIP and MEP (SE=65%, SP=58%). The areas under ROC were equal to 0.6 in all three models. The models based on hypoxia markers had a higher classification power (AUC 0,7) compared to the previous three, and the sensitivity value was higher in the model using the ROX index (SE = 58% and SP = 78%), but the specificity was better in the surrogate oxygenation index model (SE = 48% and SP = 88%). A complex model based on a combination of the two integral hypoxia indices, as well as a diaphragm strength marker (SpO2/FiO2+MIP*ROX+MIP) had the best sensitivity (67%) and specificity (84%), and the area under ROC reached 0.8.Conclusion: Indicators of respiratory muscle strength and oxygenation are suitable markers for combined models and algorithms for predicting hospital length of stay in COVID-19 patients.

The relations of the UK with the majority of Latin American and Caribbean states are not marked by traumatic narratives directly related to colonial dependence, but in recent years the problem of repatriation of cultural objects has become more acute: indigenous communities and civil activists are putting pressure on the British government and museums to return cultural property to the countries of origin. The factor that mitigates the confrontational nature of the problem is the proactive policy of British museums aimed at implementing joint projects with indigenous communities of Latin American and Caribbean states. Nevertheless, many of them are aimed at promoting Western narratives and approaches to the «decolonization of art». British museums also make a major contribution to the dissemination of information about the history and culture of Latin American peoples, both to tourists from around the world and to South American diasporas in the UK. At the same time, as a multipolar international order is being formed, the impact of the problem of repatriation of cultural objects on the UK’s relations with Latin American and Caribbean states will increase: the lack of an effective international legal framework to resolve these contradictions will become more and more acute. A potential method of reducing the resulting tension in the bilateral relations between London and Latin American and Caribbean states may be the transfer of objects on long-term lease or voluntary withdrawal of the British side from the possession of artifacts — in case appropriate changes in the domestic legislation of Great Britain are made.

The aim of the study was to identify the predictors of length of hospital stay in patients with acute COVID-19, based on the pathophysiological particularities of SARS. Materials and methods: The study was conducted from December 2020 to May 2021 on 103 randomized patients (59 men, mean age 62±13 years, body mass index 30.3±5.5 kg/m2 ) with moderate to severe acute COVID-19 infection who were hospitalized for emergency non-invasive oxygen therapy. Log-regression models were used to assess the suitability of some functional spirometric variables and/or SpO2/FiO2 surrogate oxygenation index to predict the duration of inpatient treatment from the day of the examination (≤ 7 vs. > 7 days). Results: The analysis of the receiver operating characteristic curves showed that the relative indicator of the “ventilatory reserve” (the ratio of maximum voluntary ventilation to minute ventilation at rest, VR= MVV / MV) has sufficient sensitivity (82%), specificity (69%) and the area under the curve (AUC=0.7), although the SpO2/FiO2 ratio has a better predictive capacity (78%, 84% and 0.8 accordingly). The model combining these two integral indicators of gas exchange and the respiratory muscles reserve showed the best sensitivity (89%), specificity (84%) and area under the curve (0.9). Conclusion: The proposed model for determining of the hypoxia vector by assessing the severity of ventilation-perfusion dissociation with indicators of oxygenation and ventilation showed that the MVV/MV ratio and SpO2/FiO2 ratio can be used alone and especially in combination, as effective outcome predictors of the acute phase of the infectious process caused by SARS-CoV-2.

The paper focuses on the peculiarities of literary translation of the texts where the story is told by an unreliable narrator. This relatively new way of narration has not been properly considered yet, as well as the criteria of an unreliable narrator and the translation strategy that should be chosen while translating such fiction. The paper discusses the features of this literary device, its functions and the ways of its linguistic representation. The paper is based on the novel “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” by M. Haddon and its translation into Russian made by A. Kukley in 2003. The comparative analysis of the source and target texts focuses on the stylistic peculiarities of the novel and the language personality of the unreliable narrator. The paper reveals the following challenges that a translator can deal with: the formation of a speech profile of the narrator, the translation of colloquial vocabulary and the translation of realia. Each example that includes an extract from the original book and its translation shows the features of the narrator’s speech profile; these features can have an impact on the translation and thus, should be taken into consideration throughout the whole process of translating. The analysis touches upon the examples representing inadequate translation, and for this reason, an alternative variant, the most relevant one and conveying the idea of the author of the original book is provided. The authors make a conclusion about the best translation strategy to be used while dealing with literary texts told by an unreliable narrator.

In order to identify the ethnic and age and sex characteristics of psychosomatic disorders in schoolchildren living in the southern (Abakan) and central (Krasnoyarsk) Siberian regions, surveyed 1564 students aged 12-17 (boys and girls), of which 331 Khakass people and 1233 - Russian nationality. Comparative analysis of the figures obtained by the survey, carried out by age, gender and ethnicity. It was established that syncope, asthenic syndrome and panic disorder is much more common in Russian students compared to the Khakas. At the same time, all kinds of psychosomatic disorders are recorded more often in Russian girls than Khakass; boys no significant differences according to ethnicity have been identified. Among the pupils of Russian nationality all clinical variants of psychosomatic disorders were significantly more common in girls than in boys, and usually in the older age group (15-17 years) than in younger (12-14 years). The manifestations of panic attacks in the past history of 3/4 of the surveyed were associated with the presence of autonomic dysfunction syndrome, and more - sympathicotonic type.
