BackgroundPatients with esophageal cancer often experience clinically relevant deterioration of quality of life (QOL) after esophagectomy owing to malnutrition, lack of physical exercise, and psychological symptoms. ObjectiveThis study aimed to evaluate the feasibility, safety, and efficacy of a comprehensive intervention model using a mobile health system (CIMmH) in patients with esophageal cancer after esophagectomy. MethodsTwenty patients with esophageal cancer undergoing the modified McKeown surgical procedure were invited to join the CIMmH program with both online and offline components for 12 weeks. The participants were assessed before surgery and again at 1 and 3 months after esophagectomy. QOL, depressive symptoms, anxiety, stress, nutrition, and physical fitness were measured. Objective To evaluate the standardized quality management of bedside nursing cart. Methods To standardize the placement of bedside nursing cart and formulate a unified schematic diagram which was hanged on the nursing cart. Specialized personnel was arranged to supervise the maintenance of nursing cart. Results After the standardized management of bedside nursing cart, the total score of nursing cart management and medical items placement increased from (73. 61±6. 10)to(90. 50±8. 60) s. The examination scores of nurse’ familiarity with aseptic items and cleaning products were increased by 19. 65 points (80. 35 to 100. 00) and 23. 11 points (75. 56 to 98. 67) respectively. The time of taking out items from bedside nursing cart was reduced from (6. 51±1. 29) minutes to (4. 15±1. 31) minutes, and the time of fluid replacement was shortened from (18. 76±3. 81) minutes to (13. 43±2. 81) minutes. Conclusion The standardized management of bedside nursing cart can not only meet the requirements of disinfection and isolation, but also make patients get real-time and effective nursing, and reduce the labor intensity of nurses. This study aims to evaluate the biofilm formation of clinical isolates of H. pylori and its impact on antibiotic eradication. Methods: The thickness, morphology, and structure of biofilms derived from nine H. pylori strains were examined using confocal laser scanning microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. Subsequently, the susceptibility of both planktonic and biofilm bacteria was assessed through the determination of minimum inhibitory concentration and minimum biofilm eradication concentration for amoxicillin, clarithromycin, levofloxacin, and tetracycline. Results: The results revealed varying biofilm thicknesses and densities among the strains, characterised by the presence of numerous filaments intertwining and connecting bacterial cells. Additionally, several cases exhibited susceptibility based on MIC measurements but resistance according to MBEC measurements, with MBEC indicating a higher resistance rate. Pearson Correlation analysis demonstrated a positive correlation between biofilm thickness and MBEC results (0 < r < 1), notably significant for amoxicillin (r = 0.801, P = 0.009) and tetracycline (r = 0.696, P = 0.037). Conclusion: Different strains of H. pylori exhibit variations in their capacity to release outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) and form biofilms. Biofilm formation can influence the effectiveness of amoxicillin and tetracycline in eradicating susceptible bacterial strains. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Heshang Cave is situated in central China (30°27’N, 110°25’E; 294 m) in the middle reaches of the Yangtze Valley, a region strongly impacted by the East Asian Monsoon. It contains large annually-laminated Holocene and late Pleistocene stalagmites which capture past monsoon behaviour with seasonal resolution, and could enhance understanding of the amplitude and frequency of monsoon behaviour in different climate states. In this paper, we present results of a 3-year monitoring programme at Heshang. T loggers outside the cave agree closely with T data from nearby meteorological stations. T at the site of growth of the largest recovered stalagmite averages 18°C (identical to mean annual T outside the cave) with a seasonal amplitude of 5ºC (about one fifth of the external cycle). Rainfall measurements from a station 3 km from the cave indicate strong summer monsoon rain in 2004 and 2005, but rather weaker summer rain (by ≈30%) in 2006. Drip rate at the monitoring site has a base flow of 14 drips/minute and shows a sharp increase to ≈40 drips/minute early in the summer rains of 2004 and 2005, followed by a gradual return to base-flow as the monsoon weakens. This abrupt change presumably represents threshold behaviour in the hydrological system. This threshold is not passed in 2006 and there is no abrupt increase in drip rate, indicating the sensitivity of this site (and presumably of speleothem chemistry in this cave) to monsoon rainfall. Results are also reported from a 10-month deployment of a Stalagmate drip counter, and for CO2 levels in Heshang Cave. Overall, this monitoring work represents an essential dataset for interpretation of the chemistry of drip waters, of carbonates grown on glass slides and, ultimately, of long speleothem records of past climate from Heshang Cave.

The authors of this paper discover the high electric conduction property of the composite copper-clad steel wire; that is to say, in a specific frequency domain, its electric conduction property is higher than that of copper wire having the same diameter. This paper describes the relationship between this high conduction property as a function of the frequency and structure of the wire and points out that the property results from the reflection of an electromagnetic (EM) wave at the interface inside the composite wire.
