Left Abomasum Displacement (LDA) is one of the most important metabolic diseases caused by negative energy balance during the early lactation period for high milk efficient cows. This study aimed to investigate the lipid mobilization and oxidative stress parameters in cows with LDA before and after the operation. In this research, cows with LDA (n=16) were divided into three groups that are before operation (pre-op LDA), immediately after the operation (post-op LDA), and on the 10th day after the operation (post-op 10 LDA). Control groups were formed from early lactation cows (n=8) and dry period (n=8). In serum samples collected from the study groups, total cholesterol, HDL and LDL cholesterol, triacylglycerol, free fatty acid (FFA), β-hydroxybutyric acid (BHBA), malondialdehyde (MDA) levels, and AST, GGT activities were determined spectrophotometrically, total antioxidant level (TAS), total oxidant level (TOS) and paraoxonase 1/arylesterase (PON1/ARES)] enzyme activity was measured according to the procedure of the colorimetric kit. Serum TOS and MDA levels increased in cattle with pre-op LDA compared to control groups, and MDA levels decreased to normal levels in both groups after the operation. TAS levels and PON1/ARES activities decreased in cattle with pre-op LDA compared to control groups and increased gradually in post-op groups. Serum total cholesterol, HDL, and LDL cholesterol levels decreased in cattle with pre-op LDA compared to the control groups and did not return to normal levels in the groups with post-op LDA. While BHBA levels and AST activities increased in cattle with pre-op LDA compared to control groups, they reached normal values in cattle with LDA on the post-op 10th day. It has been concluded that in evaluating the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of the disease in dairy cows with LDA, oxidative stress parameters such as TAS, TOS, and PON1/ARES may be used together with lipid parameters.

The present study evaluated the protectiveeffect of oral Vitamin C (VitC) against changes in hematological andbiochemical parameters, and oxidant-antioxidant status in male New ZealandWhite rabbits treated with endosulfan. Total of 24 rabbits (6 to 8 years old)were randomly divided into 4 treatment groups (n=6). Rabbits in the controlgroup (TRT-I) received corn oil for 6 weeks. Rabbits in the second group(TRT-II) received endosulfan (1 mg/kg bw per day) in corn oil. Rabbits in thethird group (TRT-III) received corn oil daily and VitC (20 mg/ kg bw) everyother day for 6 weeks. Rabbits in the last group (TRT-IV) received the sameamounts of endosulfan and VitC. All treatments were administered by oral route.Although total erythrocyte, trombocyte, hemoglobin and percent hematocrit,lymphocyte, granulocyte and monocyte did not differ among the treatment groups,total leukocyte numbers differed due to treatment. The serum glucose, alanineaminotransferase (ALT), malondialdehyde (MDA), glucose 6 phosphatedehydrogenase (G6PD), glutathion peroxidase (GPx), and erythrocyte catalase(CAT) in treatment groups were similar. However, serum VitC levels wereelevated for rabbits in TRT-II group. Inaddition, serum alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST)levels increased in the TRT-II group, whereas VitC application decreased ALPand AST levels in the TRT-IV group when compared to the TRT-II group. Thus,results suggested beneficial influences of VitC in neutralizing some harmfuleffects of endosulfan in male New Zealand White rabbits., Çalışmamızdaendosülfan uygulaması yapılan erkek Yeni Zellanda tavşanlarında C vitamini(VitC) ilavesinin bazı kan ve biyokimyasal parametreler ile oksidan-antioksidandenge üzerine düzeltici etkisinin araştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçla,yaşları 6 ile 8 ay arasında değişen 24 tavşan, her grupta 6 tavşan olacakşekilde, rastgele 4 çalışma grubuna ayrıldı. Kontrol grubundaki tavşanlara(TRT-I) mısır yağı verildi. İkinci grupta bulunan tavşanlara (TRT-II) günlük 1mg/kg endosülfan mısır yağında eritilerek verildi. Üçüncü gruptakitavşanlara 20 mg/kg dozunda VitC günaşırı olarak uygulandı (TRT-III). Son gruptaki tavşanlara (TRT-IV) aynıoranlarda endosülfan ve VitC verildi. Oral yolla yapılan bu uygulamalar 6 haftaboyunca devam etti. Çalışmamızda toplam eritrosit ve trombosit, hemoglobin,hematokrit, ve lökosit değerleri yönünden gruplar arasında fark gözlenmezken,toplam lökosit sayılarında anlamlı bir fark bulundu. Ayrıca serum glukoz,alanin aminotransferaz (ALT), malondialdehit (MDA), glukoz 6 fosfatdehidrojenaz (G6PD), glutatyon peroksidaz (GPx) ve eritrosit katalaz (CAT) aktivitelerinde de farklılık tespit edilmedi.TRT-III grubunda serum VitC seviyesi yükselirken, TRT-II grubunda serum alkalenfosfataz (ALP) ve aspartat aminotransferaz (AST) seviyeleri arttı. Bununlabirlikte VitC uygulamasının TRT-IV grubundaki tavşanlarda ALP ve ASTseviyelerini TRT-II grubuna göre azalttığı gözlendi. Elde edilen bulgularagöre, VitC uygulamasının endosülfanın bazı zararlı etkilerine karşı erkek YeniZellanda tavşanlarında koruyucu olabileceği sonucuna varıldı.

This study evaluated 30 lambs, 20 naturally infected with coccidia oocysts (infected group) and 10 healthy lambs (control group). Blood samples were collected from both groups for evaluation of ascorbic acid values in plasma and blood cells analysis. Mean plasma ascorbic acid values in the infected group were lower than those in the control group (0.76 ± 0.19 and 2.00 ± 0.58 mg/dl, respectively). A decrease in erythrocyte, haemoglobin and haematocrit values and an increase in leukocyte values were determined.

Sağlık üzerine muhtemel etkileri Kombucha’ya olan ilginin artmasına yol açmaktadır. Bu derlemede, biz Kombucha’nın bazı bileşenlerinin özelliklerine ışık tutan çalışmaları ortaya koyduk. Böylece, Kombucha’nın karmaşık mekanizmalarının daha iyi anlaşılması sağlanabilir ve sağlık üzerine Kombucha’nın etkileri hakkında yeni çalışmalar üretilebilir. Kombucha is traditional fermentation of sweetened black tea, involving a symbiosis of yeast species and acetic acid bacteria. Potential health effects have created an increased interest in Kombucha. In this paper, we report on studies that shed more light on the properties of some constituents of Kombucha. Such information may be provided a better understanding of complex mecanisms of Kombucha and be produced the new studies about the effects of Kombucha on health.

In the study, the effects of methanol and hexane extracts obtained from Nepeta italica L. and Nepeta cilicia Boiss. apud Bentham on antioxidant enzymes in healthy rat erythrocyte were studied. The ethanol extract of N. cilicia caused a decrease in glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase G6PD activity and an increase in catalase CAT activity. There wasn’t significant enzyme value in the group treated with the hexane extract of N. cilicia. However, the ethanol extract of N. italica caused a decrease in superoxide dismutase SOD and CAT activities. In group treated with hexane extract of N. italica, a significant decrease in SOD and CAT activities was observed, whereas a significant increase in G6PD activity was observed. Also, a statistically significant difference in MDA wasn’t found in all groups. In conclusion, it may suggest that the extracts are devoid of pro- oxidant properties, because lipid peroxidation hasn’t been observed, although the extracts have caused some changes in antioxidant enzymes., B u çalışmada, Nepeta italica L. and Nepeta cilicia Boiss. apud Bentham türlerinden elde edilen hekzan ve metanol ekstraktlarının sağlıklı rat eritrosit antioksidan enzimleri üzerine etkileri araştırılmıştır. N. cilicia etanol ekstraktı, glukoz-6-fosfat dehidrogenez G6PD aktivitesinde azalmaya, katalaz CAT aktivitesinde artışa neden olmuştur. N. cilicia hekzan ekstraktı uygulanan grupta, enzim değerlerinde anlamlı bir fark bulunmamıştır. Bununla birlikte, N. italica etanol ekstraktı, süperoksit dismutaz SOD ve CAT aktivitelerinde azalmaya neden olmuştur. N. italica hekzan ekstraktının uygulandığı grupta ise G6PD aktivitesinde artış gözlenirken, SOD ve CAT aktivitelerinde azalma gözlenmiştir. Tüm gruplarda, malondialdehid MDA seviyelerinde istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark bulunmamıştır. Sonuç olarak, ekstraktların antioksidan enzimlerde bazı değişimlere neden olmasına karşın lipid peroksidasyonu gözlenmemiştir, bu nedenle bitki ekstraktlarının pro-oksidan bir özellik göstermediği söylenebilir

İneklerin beslenmesi süt kalitesinde büyük bir öneme sahiptir. Araştırmanın amacı, Türkiye’nin Batı Akdeniz bölgesindeki iki çiftlikteki inek sütlerinin yağ asidi kompozisyonu ve tokoferol içeriği üzerine iki farklı beslenme modeli ve mevsim değişimlerinin yaz ve kış etkilerini incelemektir. İncelenen çiftliklerin birinde, inekler n=12 , çayır otu ağırlıklı rasyon ile diğer çiftlikteki inekler n=12 ise ticari konsantre yem ağırlıklı rasyon ile beslendiler. Çalışmada, sütün bileşenleri, yağ asidi dağılımı ve tokoferol içeriği analiz edildi. Yaz sezonunda çayır otuyla beslenen ineklerin sütlerindeki yağ ve kuru madde yüzdelerinin, ticari konsantre yem ile beslenen inek sütlerindekinden daha yüksek olduğu tespit edildi. Yaz döneminde çayır otuyla beslenen inek sütlerindeki palmitik asit konsantrasyonunun C16:0 , yaz ve kış aylarında konsantre yem ağırlıklı beslenen inek sütlerindekine göre daha yüksek olduğu belirlendi. Her iki mevsimde de, inek sütünün toplam tokoferol konsantrasyonları gruplar arasında istatistiksel olarak farklılık göstermedi. Sonuç olarak, sütün bileşimi besleme metotları ve iklim değişimlerinden etkilenmektedir. Muhtemelen, sütün potansiyel besinsel kalitesini etkileyecek bu değişiklikler merada otlama süresine ve rasyon bileşimine bağlı olabilir, Cow feeding plays a crucial role milk quality. The aim of the research was to examine the effects of two different feeding models and season variation summer and winter on fatty acid and tocopherol content of cow milk in two farms of West Mediterranean, Turkey. In one of examined farms, cows were fed pasture-based rations n=12 and in another farm cows were fed commercial concentrate mix feed- based n=12 . Gross composition, fatty acids profile and tocopherol content of cows’ milk were analyzed. The percentages of fat and dry matter of grazed cows’ milk in summer season were higher than from cows’ milk fed with commercial concentrate ration. Concentration of palmitic acid C16: 0 , is higher in cows’milk fed pasture-based ration during summer period compared to that fed concentrate feed-based ration in summer and winter. In both seasons, the level of total tocopherols of cows’milk did not statistically differ between the groups. As a result, milk composition is affected by feeding management and seasonal variation. Likely, this change can be linked to grazing period and ration composition, which will influence potential nutritional qualities of the milk.

Çalışmamızda, operasyon öncesi ve sonrası LDA'lı sığırlarda, lipit mobilizasyonu ve oksidatif stres parametreleri ile bunlar arasındaki ilişkilerin incelenmesi amaçlandı. Araştırmada, LDA'lı (n=16), sığırlar; operasyon öncesi (pre-op LDA)) operasyondan hemen sonra (post-op LDA) ve operasyon sonrası 10.gün (post-op 10 LDA) olmak üzere üç gruba ayrıldı. Kontrol grubu sığırlar, erken laktasyon (n=8) ve kuru dönem (n=8) sığırlardan oluşturuldu. Serum TOS ve MDA düzeylerinin pre-op LDA'lı sığırlarda kontrol gruplara göre arttığı, TAS düzeyleri ve PON1/ARES aktivitelerinin ise azaldığı tespit edildi. Serum total kolesterol, HDL-kolesterol, LDL-kolesterol düzeylerinin pre-op LDA'lı sığırlarda kontrol gruplarına göre azaldığı, BHBA düzeyi ile AST ve GGT aktivitelerinin ise arttığı belirlendi. Mevcut çalışmada, LDA'lı süt sığırlarda hastalığın teşhis, tedavi ve prognozunda lipit parametreleriyle birlikte TAS, TOS ve PON1/ARES gibi oksidatif stres parametrelerinin de değerlendirilmesinin yararlı olabileceği sonucuna varıldı.
