Research in marine Spanish waters are focused on several actions to achieve an effectively management on protected areas, with the active participation of the stakeholders and research as basic tools for decision-making. Among these actions, there is one about the knowledge and control on NIS. One of its objectives is the creation of NIS factsheets, which are going to be added to the National Marine Biodiversity Geographical System (GIS) providing complementary information about taxonomic classification, common names, taxonomic synonyms, species illustrations, identification morphological characters, habitat in the native and introduced regions, biological and ecological traits, GenBank DNA sequences, world distribution, first record and evolution in the introduced areas, likely pathways of introduction, effects in the habitats and interaction with native species, and potential management measures to apply. The database will also provide data for (1) the European online platforms, (2) the environmental assessment for the Descriptor 2 (D2-NIS) of the EU Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD), as well as (3) supporting decisions made by stakeholders. It is the result of extensive collaboration among scientist, manager’s and citizen science in the Spanish North-Atlantic, South-Atlantic, Gibraltar Strait-Alboran, Levantine-Balearic and Canary Islands marine divisions, providing an updated overview of the spatial distribution of relevant extended and invasive NIS of recent and established NIS introduced by maritime transport and aquaculture pathways, as well as on cryptogenic or native species in expansion due to the climatic water warming trend.

La investigación es concebida como una actividad primordial en el desarrollo de los territorios, por lo tanto, los estudios que abordan los sistemas de investigación se convierten en factor estratégico para dar cumplimiento a la misión institucional universitaria. El objetivo del presente trabajo es analizar las estrategias desarrolladas por la Universidad de Tarapacá de Chile tendientes a promover la producción científica, para generar información que permita mejorar las decisiones en esta relevante función. La metodología empleada es cualitativa, recogiéndose datos a partir de revisión documental y entrevistas a autoridades vinculadas a la investigación; tratándose de una investigación descriptiva que utiliza fuentes secundarias y primarias de información. Los resultados revelan la existencia de tres tipos de incentivos (temporales, económicos y de jerarquización), y concursos internos, para financiar proyectos de investigación. Según los entrevistados, las estrategias promueven el acercamiento de docentes a procesos investigativos, pero presentan limitaciones debido a condiciones y capacidades de desarrollo de investigadores noveles, ante exigencias de investigaciones de alto impacto. En conclusión, frente a este escenario, se torna relevante tomar en consideración las buenas prácticas y los desafíos por alcanzar, para promover el posicionamiento de las instituciones universitarias chilenas en la comunidad científica y la sociedad en general.

Introduction: The broad range of patients and diagnoses addressed by primary care physicians lends to a larger after-work clinic load. The resulting after-clinic work, including various in-basket tasks, can be a substantial burden to physicians, and potentially leading to burnout. The goal of this study is to generate a standardized workflow to improve physician after-clinic work efficiency and patient care. Methods: A nine-question pre- and post-intervention survey about afterclinic work management was administered to family medicine residents at a multi-specialty FQHC in California. The intervention was done in June 2020 and included a twenty-minute training session explaining how to implement a standardized in-basket management flowchart in a family medicine residency clinic. Results: Pre- and post-intervention data were analyzed using nonindependent paired sample t-tests. The survey was sent to all 40 family medicine residents. Bone sarcoma; Clinical guidelines; Latin-America context Sarcoma óseo; Guías clínicas; Contexto latinoamericano Sarcoma ossi; Guies clíniques; Context llatinoamericà Bone sarcoma are infrequent diseases, representing < 0.2% of all adult neoplasms. A multidisciplinary management within reference centers for sarcoma, with discussion of the diagnostic and therapeutic strategies within an expert multidisciplinary tumour board, is essential for these patients, given its heterogeneity and low frequency. This approach leads to an improvement in patient’s outcome, as demonstrated in several studies. The Sarcoma European Latin-American Network (SELNET), aims to improve clinical outcome in sarcoma care, with a special focus in Latin-American countries. These Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG) have been developed and agreed by a multidisciplinary expert group (including medical and radiation oncologist, surgical oncologist, orthopaedic surgeons, radiologist, pathologist, molecular biologist and representatives of patients advocacy groups) of the SELNET consortium, and are conceived to provide the standard approach to diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of bone sarcoma patients in the Latin-American context. Biological invasions are one of the major causes of biodiversity loss. To mitigate the impacts of invasive alien species (IAS) that pose a serious threat, the Spanish Catalogue of Invasive Alien Species was created; this was a dynamic tool in its creation but rigid in its application. Although it is subject to continuous modifications, the inclusion of an IAS in the Catalogue generally entails a generic ban on its possession, transport, traffic and trade. However, such rigidity often generates social conflict when IAS are economically exploitable resources. In this review, we exemplify the difficulties of implementing generic bans and propose that, to be effective, IAS regulation should expand the range of available tools (i.e. be flexible), beyond the dilemma of banning or not banning everything. To this end, we propose the creation of categories of IAS involving different levels of restriction and management strategies. In the case of widely distributed species with no technical possibilities for large-scale population control or prevention of their expansion, we bring up the permissibility of their commercial exploitation under certain restrictions, and point out the difficulties associated with banning such exploitation where it is already taking place. While simple solutions (i.e. to ban or not to ban) may be easier to understand and implement, they are not always the most effective. We therefore encourage the introduction of flexibility in legislation, which, while introducing greater complexity, it would facilitate the decision-making in the management of IAS, improve resource efficiency and reduce social conflicts associated with such management.

Anatomic variations of the hepatic artery, which occur in 30 to 50% of patients, are a very important factor to be considered for Whipple procedure. The most common variations are those coming from the superior mesenteric artery, left gastric artery and the aorta. We report a 58-year-old woman with a story of one month of epigastric pain, jaundice and progressive itching. Magnetic resonance imaging showed a mass in the head of the pancreas. During pancreatoduodenectomy a left hepatic artery (LHA) emerging from the gastroduodenal artery and an accessory LHA emerging from the left gastric artery, were observed. The rest of the surgery was performed with no incidents. The patient had an uneventful postoperative evolution.

El Hormigón Reforzado con Fibras es un material de alto desempeño; la incorporación de fibras incrementa la capacidad de transferencia de cargas y controla la fisuración generando mayor durabilidad. Es un material especialmente ventajoso para construir estructuras hiperestáticas como pisos industriales y pavimentos. En estos casos las fibras permiten mayores espaciamientos entre juntas que los habituales en hormigones simples o reforzados con barras de acero y a la vez aprovechar su resistencia residual a la flexión para optimizar el cálculo estructural de las losas. Este trabajo muestra en primer lugar resultados de estudios de laboratorio donde se evaluó la performance de tres macrofibras sintéticas diferentes incorporadas en dosis variables sobre los que se determinaron los parámetros residuales en flexión. Luego, y en base a experiencias de obra, se analizan aspectos vinculados a la ejecución y comportamiento en servicio de pisos ejecutados en los últimos años, como la incorporación de macrofibras a la mezcla, la colocación y trabajabilidad del hormigón o detalles de terminación, entre otros. Finalmente se discute acerca de los espaciamientos entre juntas, sus efectos sobre la generación de fisuras y el alabeo, el cálculo estructural y la calidad del piso terminado., Fiber Reinforced Concrete is a high performance material; as fibers are incorporated the load carrying capacity, as well as the crack control are improved; leading to a greater durability of the structures. Fiber concretes have special advantages for building redundant structures as pavements and industrial floor. In these cases, joint spacing greater than those usually adopted for plain or reinforced with conventional bars can be used; in addition, the fiber concrete residual bending capacity enables the optimization of the slabs structural design. This paper shows the laboratory studies developed to evaluate the mechanical performance of different dosages of three macrosynthetic fibers. Then, and based on field experiences, several aspects related with the construction and evaluation of the service behaviour of many floors built during the last years are presented, as the procedures for incorporation macrofibres in concrete, placement and workability, finishability, among others. Het grote aantal bilaterale en multilaterale klimaatfondsen (MCF), die ieder zijn opgezet om aan verschillende behoeften te voldoen, maakt dat het voor bedrijven (inclusief MKBs) moeilijk kan zijn om potentiële kansen te identificeren en te begrijpen hoe ze gebruik kunnen maken van de verschillende projecten en programma's. Het doel van deze gids is om Nederlandse kleine en middelgrote bedrijven te informeren over MCF's en de mogelijke zakelijke kansen die deze fondsen hen kunnen bieden. De gids geeft informatie over 10 verschillende fondsen, waarin wordt beschreven wat elk fonds is, hoe deze werkt en geeft voorbeelden van de soorten projecten die zij ondersteunen. De gids geeft ook aan welke kansen er MKB beschikbaar zouden bij de verschillende fondsen; ofwel via directe financiering door deze fondsen danwel door betrokken te zijn bij project en programmas die door de fondsen gefinancierd worden.

In the area of upgrading the living being and academic records need to obtain a student preferences with regard to good planning matters. This paper analyzes and after seeing the need for student university uses the discriminant models for the development of ranking of preferences, it is defined in the datamartswhere are the operational data, facts and values knowledge extracted from the electronic questionnaires. Moreover implement a Web interface to: data entry of students, datamarts the operation and decision-making environment.
