No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2020-01-01 Crop protection on major crops is now required to follow the principles of integrated pest management so the timing and accuracy of any application of a pesticide or biopesticide has to be more precise to minimize adverse effects on non-target species. The development of UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) provides a means of providing a more targeted application of the correct dose, especially by using formulations that are more persistent, thus minimizing loss of spray in areas subject to rain. Avoiding use of too high a dosage allows greater survival of natural enemies and reduces the selection pressure for pests becoming resistant to specific modes of action. The downward flow of air from a UAV should also provide better distribution and impaction of droplets within a crop canopy, reduce soil impaction caused by taking heavy loads of spray applied with 200 l ha–1 of water, and allow treatments when fields are too wet to access with ground equipment. In Asia, many smallholder farmers are using a drone in preference to using a knapsack sprayer. According to Matthews, it has been shown that ULV spraying can be effective, but it needs a narrow droplet spectrum with the droplets remaining stable and not shrinking to become too small. Formulation research can reduce the volatility of the spray, hence the success of oil-based sprays. However, instead of petroleum-based oils, there is a chance to develop vegetable oil carriers with micro-sized particle suspensions to deliver low toxicity pesticides in droplets that can be deposited within the crop and not drift beyond the crop boundary. Oil deposits will be less prone to loss after rain so less should be lost in neighbouring ditches and water courses, especially as rainfall patterns are forecast to change. More studies are needed to evaluate the swath for deposition, buffer zones, formulation, nozzle selection, to guide future specific legislation for UAV applications. This study included the characterization of the droplet size spectrum, via laser diffraction instrument, generated by three blades angles, of 45, 60 and 75 degrees. The spray solution was composed of Picoxystrobin + Cyproconazole fungicide (SC), at 20 mL c.p. L-1, and at a flow rate of 6 L min-1. As the angle decreased from 75 to 45 degrees, the rotational speed of the atomizers increased and the volume median diameter (VMD) decreased. No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2017-11-01 Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq) The influence of three types of commercial formulation of insecticides and fungicides, emulsifiable concentrate (EC) formulation, suspension concentrate (SC) formulation and water dispersible granule (WG) formulation on the surface tension, viscosity and the droplet size spectra of sprays was evaluated using thirty commercial insecticide and fungicide products. The concentration of sprays was based on application water spray volume of 50 L ha−1 using an XR 8003VS flat fan nozzle, operated at 200 kPa pressure. The lowest surface tensions were obtained with EC formulations, while the SCs had the highest viscosities. Emulsions were the most effective at decreasing the percentage of droplets smaller than 100 μm and relative span, while increasing the DV0.1 and DV0.5 values than the dispersion-type formulations, represented by WG and SC formulations. These factors should be considered for planning spray applications and reducing drift. No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2013-01-01 The drift is intimately linked to inappropriate use of pesticides and an important factor for reducing it, is the correct selection of spray nozzles and adjuvants. The objective of this work was to evaluate the drift potential in wind tunnel with different spray nozzles and different concentrations of adjuvants. The experiment was composed by six spray solutions (vegetable oil (in three concentrations), mineral oil, surfactant and reducing drift), which were applied with two nozzles, one pre-orifice flat fan (DG 8003 VS) and other with air induction (AI 8003 VS), totaling 12 treatments, with three repetitions. The equipment used was a wind tunnel, where the drift collections were made at different points. The treatments averages were compared using Confidence Interval at 5% probability. The analysis of the percentage of drift showed that the treatments had different behaviors. The nonylphenol ethoxylate adjuvant presented the highest drift when applied with the nozzle of pre-orifice and the lowest drift when applied with the air induction. The behavior of these nozzles when the oil-based adjuvant was used showed apposite results to those obtained for the surfactant. For the DG nozzles the lowest percentage of drift, at all analyzed distances, was observed to the treatment with vegetable oil (1.0%) and with the AI nozzles the lower drift was found for the treatment with nonylphenol ethoxylate (0.0625%), for the four distances in the collection. The result showed that both the spray nozzles and adjuvants alter directly the drift potential. There was no proportionately between the concentration of the oil-based adjuvant and the drift percentage. This paper aimed at investigating the knowledge level of people working on pesticide spraying activities concerning spray adjuvant properties, as well as collecting information on disposal locations for residues from internal spray tank cleaning, and finally the understanding of pesticide spray drift occurrence in the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil. The information was gathered through a questionnaire answered by participants of a rural extension program in application technology located in nineteen grain and fiber producing regions of Mato Grosso state. Among the mentioned adjuvants, 49.0% belonged to the mineral oil class and 17.9% of participants did not know the functions performed by such products. In addition, 58.5% of the participants discarded residues into the field. Among the participants who answered the question about spray drift occurrence causes, 54.1% indicated problems relating to inadequate weather conditions. In conclusion, there is a lack of knowledge on adjuvant functions, besides of inappropriate residue disposal in the state of Mato Grosso. Spray drift was referred as a problem; however, most of participants were not able to discuss the causes of these losses. RESUMO O objetivo deste trabalho foi investigar o nível de conhecimento de trabalhadores ligados à atividade de aplicação de defensivos agrícolas sobre as funções de adjuvantes de calda e coletar informações sobre os locais de descarte dos resíduos provenientes da lavagem interna do reservatório de calda de pulverizadores, ocorrência e motivos da deriva, nas aplicações de defensivos agrícolas, no Estado do Mato Grosso. As informações foram coletadas por meio das respostas de um questionário entregue aos participantes de um programa de extensão rural, em tecnologia de aplicação, em dezenove municípios produtores de grãos e fibras do Estado. Ao todo, 49,0% dos adjuvantes citados pertenciam à classe dos óleos minerais e 17,9% dos participantes declararam não saber as funções desempenhadas pelos adjuvantes. Os resíduos eram descartados nas lavouras por 58,5% dos participantes. Dentre os participantes que responderam sobre as causas da ocorrência de deriva nas aplicações, 54,1% indicaram problemas relativos às condições climáticas inadequadas. Conclui-se que há carência de conhecimento sobre as funções desempenhas pelos adjuvantes, bem como a ocorrência de descarte de resíduos em locais inadequados no Estado do Mato Grosso. A deriva foi reconhecida como um problema, mas a maioria dos participantes não se propôs a discutir as causas deste tipo de perda.

Para a montagem das parcelas experimentais, foi escolhida uma área com pastagens no município de Porto Esperidião-MT. Em todos os tratamentos, as aplicações foram realizadas utilizando os herbicidas aminopiralide e fluroxipir (Dominum) na dose de 2,5 L p.c. ha-1, incluindo o adjuvante óleo mineral (Joint Oil) na dose de 1,0 Lha-1 e um traçante para determinação da deposição por cromatografia HPLC (rodamina, na concentração de 0,6%). O ensaio considerou nove tratamentos que consistiram nas combinações de três volumes de calda (20, 30 e 50Lha-1) e três alturas de voo (10, 30 e 40 m). Os resultados mostraram que, em média, houve tendência de maiores depósitos para as menores alturas de voo, com diferença significativa entre 10 e 40 m de altura. Não houve diferença significativa entre os depósitos obtidos com os diferentes volumes de calda. The objective of the present study was to analyze the influence of spray mixture volume and flight height on herbicide deposition in aerial applications on pastures. The experimental plots were arranged in a pasture area in the district of Porto Esperidião (Mato Grosso, Brazil). In all of the treatments, the applications contained the herbicides aminopyralid and fluroxypyr (Dominum) at the dose of 2.5 L c.p. ha-1, including the adjuvant mineral oil (Joint Oil) at the dose of 1.0 L and a tracer to determine the deposition by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) (rhodamine at a concentration of 0.6%). The experiment consisted of nine treatments that comprised the combinations of three spray volumes (20, 30 and 50 L ha-1) and three flight heights (10, 30 and 40 m). The results showed that, on average, there was a tendency for larger deposits for the smallest flight heights, with a significant difference between the heights of 10 and 40 m. There was no significant difference among the deposits obtained with the different spray mixture volumes. O objetivo deste trabalho foi verificar a interferência de adjuvantes na quantidade de ar incluído em gotas geradas por pontas de pulverização. Os tratamentos utilizados corresponderam a soluções contendo: óleo mineral, óleo vegetal, surfatante e água, aplicados com três tipos de pontas de pulverização, sendo duas com indução de ar e uma com pré-orifício. O ar incluído foi calculado através da diferença entre o volume da mistura pulverizada (ar mais líquido) e apenas o líquido, que foi feito por meio de amostras pulverizadas, capturadas em um funil e coletadas em proveta graduada. A tensão superficial foi estimada através do método gravimétrico, utilizando uma balança de precisão e uma bureta graduada. O surfatante foi o que proporcionou maior porcentagem de ar incluído na pulverização. Para a tensão superficial, as caldas contendo óleo mineral e o surfatante tiveram os menores valores. Os resultados mostraram que o uso de adjuvantes tem influência direta na porcentagem de ar incluído. Além disso, adjuvantes com maior capacidade de redução da tensão superficial e que formam misturas mais homogêneas proporcionaram aumento da porcentagem de ar incluído nas gotas pulverizadas. The air included in droplets generated by spray nozzles directly int0erferes in transport, deposition and retention of the droplets after its impact on the target. The objective of this study was to analyze the interference of adjuvants in the amount of air included in droplets generated by spray nozzles. The treatments were composed by four spray solutions containing mineral oil, vegetable oil, surfactant and water, and three spray nozzles, two air induction type and one pre-orifice. The air included was calculated by the difference between the volume of spray mix (air plus liquid) and only the liquid, which was made by means of sprayed samples captured in a funnel and collected in a graduated cylinder. The surface tension was estimated by the gravimetric method using a precision scale and a graduated pipette. The surfactant provided the largest percentage of air included in the spray. For the surface tension, the mineral oil and the surfactant had the lowest values. It was concluded that the use of adjuvants had a direct influence on the percentage of air included. In addition, products with greater ability to reduce surface tension and to form homogeneous solutions provided the increase in the percentage of air included in the droplet. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o potencial de adjuvantes dos grupos surfatantes, redutores de deriva, óleos minerais e óleos vegetais para a redução da deriva em pulverizações agrícolas. O experimento quantificou a deriva de pulverizações realizadas com 18 adjuvantes em diferentes concentrações, em solução aquosa, sob condições controladas em túnel de vento. Os ensaios foram realizados em triplicatas, com pontas de pulverização Teejet XR8003 VK, pressão de 200 kPa e gotas médias. As soluções pulverizadas foram marcadas com corante Azul Brilhante a 0,6% (m v-1). A deriva foi coletada por meio de fios de polietileno posicionados transversalmente ao fluxo de ar, a diferentes distâncias da ponta e alturas do piso do túnel. A solução de lavagem de cada fio foi processada por meio de espectrofotometria para a quantificação dos depósitos. Os adjuvantes dos grupos funcionais óleos minerais e redutores de deriva proporcionaram valores menores de deriva em comparação com os surfatantes e a água. Os resultados de laboratório indicam que a seleção de produtos e de concentrações adequadas pode reduzir significativamente o risco de deriva nas pulverizações agrícolas. Entretanto, os melhores resultados obtidos em laboratório deverão ser validados com os produtos que irão constituir as caldas de pulverização em condições de campo no futuro. The reduction of pesticide spraying drift is still one of the major challenges in Brazilian agriculture. The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential of different adjuvant products, such as surfactants, drift retardants, mineral oil and vegetable oil for reducing drift in agricultural spraying. The experiment consisted of quantifying drift of sprayings of 18 adjuvants dissolved in water under controlled conditions in a wind tunnel. Tests were performed in triplicates with spraying nozzles type Teejet XR8003 VK, pressure of 200kPa and medium drops. Solutions sprayed were marked with Brilliant Blue dye at 0.6% (m v-1). The drift was collected using polyethylene strips transversally fixed along the tunnel at different distances from the nozzle and different heights from the bottom part of the tunnel. Drift deposits were evaluated by spectrophotometry in order to quantify deposits. The adjuvants from chemical groups of mineral oil and drift retardant resulted in lower values of drift in comparison with surfactants and water. The results obtained in laboratory show that the selection of appropriate class and concentration of adjuvants can significantly decrease the risk of drift in agricultural spraying. Para o estudo foram utilizadas nove caldas, sendo uma composta apenas por água e oito soluções contendo adjuvantes solubilizados em concentrações recomendadas por seus fabricantes: óleo mineral(Nimbus®), óleo vegetal (Óleo VegetalNortox), mistura de lecitina e ácido propiônico (Li- 700®), nonilfenoxi poli etanol (Agral®), nonil fenol etoxilado (In-Tec® e Antideriva), copolímero de poliéster e silicone (Silwet® L-77 Ag) e lauril éter sulfato de sódio (TA 35). Utilizou-se uma ponta jato plano com indução de ar modelo Guardian Air (Hypro®) 11003. O estudo foi realizado no Laboratório de Análise do Tamanho de Partícula (LAPAR), localizado no Departamento de Fitossanidade da FCAV/UNESP, Campus de Jaboticabal – SP. As características doespectro de gotas (diâmetro mediano volumétrico/DMV, percentual de gotas menores do que 100 micrometros e amplitude relativa foram determinadas com um analisador de tamanho de partículas por difração de raios laserMastersizer S (MalvernInstruments). Para análise estatística os valores das médias dos tratamentos foram comparados pelo Intervalo de Confiança a 5 % de probabilidade (IC95%). Os resultados mostraram que para a ponta com indução ar Guardian Air 11003 os óleos adjuvantes (Óleo Vegetal Nortox e Nimbus®) apresentaram maior capacidade no aumento do DMV na comparação com produtos a base de surfatantes. O percentual de gotas abaixo de 100 µm foi menor para os adjuvantes Agral®, Antideriva, In-Tec®eTA 35, em comparação ao Óleo Vegetal Nortox e ao Li-700®. A amplitude relativa foi maior para os adjuvantes a base de óleo (Óleo Vegetal Nortox e Nimbus®), sendo o menor valor encontrado para o adjuvante a base de lauril éter (TA 35®), indicando potencial de melhoria na qualidade do espectro de gotas da ponta Hypro® GA 11003. This study aimed to verify the influence of adjuvants on the droplet spectrum of an air induction nozzle. The experiment used nine spray solutions, one including only water and eight containing adjuvants: Nimbus® (mineral oil), Óleo vegetal Nortox (vegetal oil), Li-700® (a mixture of lecithin and propionic acid), Agral® (nonyl phenoxy poly ethanol), In-Tec® (nonyl phenol ethoxylate), Antideriva (nonyl phenol ethoxylate), Silwet® L-77 Ag (copolymer polyester and silicon) and TA 35 (sodium lauryl ether sulfate). A flat fan air induction nozzle Hypro® Guardian Air 110 03 was used for the droplet spectrum evaluation. The study was conducted at the Laboratory for Particle Size Analysis (Lapar), at FCAV/UNESP, Jaboticabal/SP - Brazil. The determination of the droplet spectrum characteristics (Volume Median Diameter/VMD, percentage of droplets smaller than 100 micrometers and span) was carried out by a particle size analyzer by laser diffraction Mastersizer S (Malvern Instruments). For statistical analysis the mean values were compared using Confidence Interval at 95% (CI 95%). The results showed that for the Hypro® GA air induction nozzle the oil based adjuvants (Óleo Vegetal Nortox e Nimbus®) increased the VMD. The percentage of droplets smaller than 100 micrometers was lower for the Agral®, Antideriva, In-Tec® e TA 35, in comparison with the Óleo Vegetal Nortox and Li-700®. The span was higher for the oil based adjuvants (Óleo Vegetal Nortox e Nimbus®) and lower for the TA 35 (sodium lauryl ether sulfate), showing that the TA 35 adjuvant has a potential to improve the quality of the droplet spectrum of the Hypro® GA 11003 nozzle. A ferrugem asiatica atualmente e a principal doenca da cultura da soja, apresentando dificil controle por iniciar no terco inferior da planta. Novas tecnologias como adjuvantes tem sido desenvolvidas para aumentar a deposicao das gotas nos alvos, contudo ha carencia de informacoes sobre a eficiencia da acao esperada para estes produtos. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a capacidade do adjuvante TA-35 aumentar a deposicao de caldas de fungicidas com ou sem oleo mineral em aplicacoes aereas e terrestres. O delineamento utilizado foi um fatorial 3x2, tres caldas de pulverizacao com Priori Xtra (suspensao concentrada contendo azoxistrobina 200 g L -1 + ciproconazol 80 g L -1 ) em mistura com os adjuvantes Nimbus (concentrado emulsionavel contendo hidrocarbonetos alifaticos, 428 g L -1 ) e TA-35 (concentrado soluvel contendo lauril eter sulfato de sodio, tensoativos, sequestrantes e emulsificantes), alem do corante Azul Brilhante (FD&C no 1) como marcador, em aplicacoes por vias aerea e terrestre. Nas aplicacoes terrestres utilizou-se o volume de calda de 50 L ha -1 , pontas TXA 8002 VS, e nas aereas 15 L ha -1 , atomizador Turboaero, ambos aplicando gotas finas. Os alvos utilizados para captacao das gotas foram lâminas de vidro. Apos a extracao do corante dos alvos por lavagem com agua destilada, as amostras foram analisadas por espectrofotometria, possibilitando quantificar o deposito de corante em cada lâmina. Um estudo para avaliar possiveis perdas do marcador por degradacao ou retencao tambem foi feito. A analise comparativa dos tratamentos foi feita pelo metodo estatistico “Intervalo de Confianca para Diferencas entre as medias” com grau de confianca de 95% (IC95%). Houve degradacao ou retencao do marcador entre os processos de aplicacao das caldas e a leitura das amostras. Apesar do uso do TA-35 ter aumentado as medias de deposicao para as aplicacoes aereas e terrestres, nao houve diferencas significativas entre os tratamentos para cada via de aplicacao. Desta forma, outros parâmetros ou estudos complementares devem ser considerados para justificar a viabilidade de uso deste adjuvante. PALAVRAS-CHAVE: coletores, fungicidas, tecnologia de aplicacao. ADJUVANTS ON SPRAY DEPOSITION OF AERIAL AND GROUND APPLICATIONS ABSTRACT: The Asian rust currently is the main disease of soybean culture, having as characteristics the difficult control, by start at the bottom of plants where penetration of the droplets is harder. The fine droplets has been used with the intention of improve the penetration and increase efficiency of agrochemicals, but that are losses by drift easily. New products have been developed to increase deposition of the drops at targets. The aim of this work was evaluate the TA-35 capacity to improving the deposition of fungicides spray solution with or without mineral oil by aerial and ground applications. Was used a factorial 3x2, three spray solutions composed by Priori Xtra (concentrated suspension of azoxystrobin 200 g L -1 + cyproconazole 80 g L -1 ) mixed with adjuvants, Nimbus (emulsifiable concentrate containing aliphatic hydrocarbons 428 g L -1 ) and TA-35 (soluble concentrate containing sodium lauryl ether sulfate, surfactants, sequestering agents and emulsifiers), in aerial and ground applications. In ground applications was used 50 L ha -1 , TXA 8002 VS spray nozzles and on aerials was used 15 L ha -1 , Turboaero atomizer, both applying fine droplets. Was utilized the Brilliant Blue (FD & C n. 1) tracer to determine the deposits. There were used glass slides as targets to collect spray droplets. After to extract the tracer of the targets using distilled water, the samples were analyzed by spectrophotometry, thereby was possible quantify the tracer deposited on each glass slide. A study to evaluate possible losses of the tracer by degradation or retention also was done. The comparative analysis of treatments was done by statistical method "Confidence Interval for Differences Between the Averages" with 95% of confidence degree (IC95%). There was degradation or retention of the tracer between the processes of application of the droplets and the processing of the samples. The deposition averages with the presence of TA-35 were greatest for both sprayers however, there were not significant differences among the treatments. The viability of TA-35 use may consider other parameters or complementary studies. KEYWORDS : application technology, collectors, fungicides.
