Several studies on anthropogonic myths and on the origins of patriarchy agree in pointing out that the myth of Adam and Eve is one of the most influential in shaping the identity and destiny of women in Western civilization. This paper analyzes a corpus of literary works from the 20th and 21st century written by Spanish and Latin American women writers that offer a female vision of the myth. By transferring the voice to Eve, they rewrite the plot and redefine the characters. The article focuses on the analysis of two of the modifications that these works, manifestly hypertextual, introduce with respect to the hypotext: Eve's perspective and voice, and the transformation of the story of the creation of the primordial couple. The proposed article aims to examine the strategies used by American women cookbook writers to attract the intended audience to their collections. The study is based on 19th-century cookbooks published in the United States; earlier collections, although available in the US were published in and brought from Britain. Written for and, in many cases, by housewives, the analysed cookbooks show, on the one hand, how the authors tried to convince the prospective reader of their expertise and knowledge. On the other hand, a certain degree of intimacy with the reader was to draw the reader's attention to the collection. The discussion will be based on (i) the cookbooks' titles, as they are "the first point of contact between the writer and the potential reader" (Haggan, 2004, p. 193) and an important determinant of a book's success; and (ii) the authors' signatures (as not all of the publications were signed with the author's name). The resounding triumph of Latin American and Spanish women writers in Spanish-speaking and world literary markets in recent years is a consequence of significant changes in the gatekeeping process, as well as fundamental shifts in ideas about the relationship between the novel and the market. This paper proposes a discussion of the role of the Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Prize, founded in 1993 and awarded each year to novels written by women in Spanish America (including Spain), in this process. The text will first discuss the prize as part of a trend of literary prizes in which women can participate exclusively, such as the Women’s Prize of Fiction. It will then discuss in particular the cases of prize-winning women writers who have achieved resonance beyond the Spanish language (such as Cristina Rivera Garza, Lina Meruane, Marina Perezagua, Nona Fernández and María Gainza) as opposed to others (Silvia Molina, Ana García Bergua, Inés Fernández Moreno) whose recognition is limited to the language. In this way, the award will be used as a privileged place to discuss the mechanisms and limitations faced by Latin American women writers in concentric circles of cultural capital. In 1946, Salvadoran woman writer and artist Consuelo Suncín Sandoval (1901-1979) writes Memorias de la rosa, an autobiographic-memorial text posthumously published in 2000, on the centenary of the birth of his husband, French aviator and writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (1900- 1944). A part of the critique, where the preface of the first Spanish edition of this work stands out, enthrones the mythical image of the renowned author, an operation that obscures the textual proposal and overshadows the Salvadoran woman author. Such impairment highlights the correlation between the positioning of the works and the bodily stigma of the subjects who occupy the authorial purpose, which turns it into an invitation to revisit the text from the bodilyauthorial configuration of the "I" to contribute to settle a historiographic debt towards the figure and work of this Central American woman writer. The following essay tells a story about an undergraduate American Women Writer's course, the University archives, a nineteenth-century journal, and a Digital Recovery project. The essay explains that the story of undergraduates and their work to discover and to recover a primary text within the context of a single course could not have happened without collaboration. Because our story is a story of collaboration, I cannot tell it alone. I am Michelle Wood, an Associate Professor of English who teaches American Literature. During spring semester 2015, I collaborated with Lynn Brock, the Dean of Library Sciences, to create an archival recovery project for a course entitled American Women Writers. The article focuses on American author Sarah Orne Jewett and a spiritual trip she took to Green Bay, Wisconsin in 1872 that impacted her professional writing. The author explains that before Jewett's trip she had met retired Harvard law professor Theophilus Parsons who became her spiritual mentor, explores her experiences with Oneida Indians and the Episcopal while in Wisconsin, and discusses her short story "Tame Indians," which was published in "The Independent" in 1875.
