This paper portrays the topic modeling approach in identifying critical facets in new Library and Information Science (LIS) research. Using machine language, topic modeling in statistics recognizes the "topics" in a document pool. Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) is one such model for topic analysis and thus is used to classify text in the literary warrant in LIS in various locations worldwide. The study analyzed 734 articles published in 4 different LIS journals, i.e., Annals of Library and Information Studies (Indian), DESIDOC Journal of Library and Information Technology (DJLIT-Indian), College and Research Libraries (International), Liber Quarterly (International) from 2016 to 2020. LDA is used to analyze and manage the dataset. The study pivoted on the foundation of extracting 'topics' from these four journals using Mallet and Knime software to determine what research topics are essential at the national and global levels. The paper also visualizes a relationship map of distributed issues at the national and international levels to identify the sublime contexture of keyed-in tags. Furthermore, the study took a socio-cultural approach to LIS research with cross-country comparisons. The study found that the compared topics retrieved from both journals published in India and abroad where non-Indian journals varied significantly from those published in Indian journals. The study concluded that cross-cultural adoption is visible in the research activities over time. Moreover, this study identified the social parameters that describe the changes in the discipline. Digital Humanities (DH) is an interdisciplinary academic discipline that employs computational techniques to address humanities and social science problems. It merges various domains such as history, philosophy, literature, and modern languages, offering unique approaches to traditional inquiries. DH has gained considerable popularity among students, academicians, and Library and Information Science (LIS) professionals, creating new employment opportunities in libraries, museums, archives, cultural heritage organisations, data science, and other sectors. In India, DH is still in its early stages, with diverse manifestations in university-level teaching and learning practices. This study examines the DH components integrated into the LIS course curriculum by analysing syllabi and course descriptions from central universities. Additionally, we briefly review DH research projects and programs in India and abroad. To enhance the design and implementation of DH programs and degrees alongside LIS curricula, a course module for DH within LIS schools is proposed. This research extends insights into DH pedagogical practices within librarianship education, offering a comprehensive perspective on contextual frameworks, academic discussions, development trends in DH, and the LIS field in India. The study examines the possible predatory journals in Library and Information Science research in India, including the affiliation status of the authors publishing in those predatory journals, frequency of returning authors, and country-wise distribution of authors. The paper used Beall's list to find out the predatory journals in LIS published from India. Publication trends, affiliations of authors, and the status of the 22 LIS journals under the study were critically analyzed. The result shows that the predatory journals were diminishing slowly; in 2016, there were eight active journals, while in 2021, it was reduced to four journals. Similarly, the publication trends show that the highest number of articles (398) was published in the year 2015, and it was only 66 articles in 2020. It is revealed that academics hailing from state universities (42.88%) are the highest contributors to the predatory journals, followed by professionals from government colleges (16.76%). The results indicate that predatory publishing was rampant in the early years but declined gradually. Researchers from India have published the most articles, totaling 1760 (93%), followed by those from Nigeria (64, 3.3%), Bangladesh (10), and Saudi Arabia (eight articles). It is also revealed that 21.66% (n = 438) are returning authors who have published more than one article in the sample journals. The paper discusses the role of the government and especially the University Grants Commission (UGC) in curbing the menace of predatory publishing. The study was designed to know the year-wise research growth rate, author collaboration pattern and productivity, sub-domain research in library science, research keyword network, thematic and cluster analysis of journal Annals of Library and Information Science. The data search and download has been done under (Scopus database) sources by selecting the subject area Social Science/Library and Information Science and the journal Annals of Library and Information Science. A total of 388 articles from the study period 2011 to 2022 have been downloaded with all bibliographic information from the Scopus database. VOSviewer (version, 1.6.9) and R (Biblioshiny) software have been used for data visualization and keyword analysis. Total 388 articles were published in which 2014 noted as the most productive year (11.60%) and 2019 as least productive (4.64%) year. Citation analysis indicates that highest 315 citation (18.39%) for year 2011 and lowest 32 (1.87%) in 2022, noted so for averaging 4.41 per article annually. multi-authored articles were found prominent (48.20%), followed by single authors (33.76%). The Collaborative Index ranged from 1.81 to 2.03 (average 1.88), and the Degree of Collaboration found between 0.88 to 0.73 (average 0.82). The Collaboration Coefficient, reflecting averaged collaboration 0.365, with values from 0.29 to 0.41. B K Sen, B Dutta, and K C Garg, noted as highest contributor for this journal where with article "Internet of Things and Libraries" published by Pujar S M & Satyanarayana K V in year 2015 has highest number of citations for any article. Keyword analysis indicate that term "Scientometrics," "Bibliometrics," and "India," occurred most time where Library Services, H-index, and Covid-19 noted as latest occurred term for year 2021. The thematic analysis of subject shows that koha, vufind, ethics, open source, ontology, academic integrity, citation impact, altmetrics, lexicon etc. found as emerging subject areas for research. As expected, India emerged as the primary contributor in publications (76.80%) and citations (75.55%), followed by Nigeria (6.44% publications, 5.78% citations) which shows the journal must make its presence on international level. This paper explores the intrinsic qualities of library and information science teachers that convert a normal teacher into a favorite one. This study focuses on the current status of LIS education in Odisha, India. The students who belong to regular departments and the students who belong to self-financing departments are compared concerning their understanding level of LIS-related concepts. The research method is descriptive. An online questionnaire was designed with three major sections and distributed among sample students. Four departments of various universities were selected for this study. Two departments from regular and two were self-financing. A total of 112 students provided their responses, which was subjected to analysis. Major analyses like the students' reason for choosing a library and information science course, number of teachers available in their departments, and number of classes students attended per day were analyzed. Purpose: This study aims to find out the India's research contribution to world Library and Information Science (LIS) literature from 2011 to 2020. Attempt has been made to reflect both the number of research articles published by the Indian LIS researchers during the past decade and the percentage share of Indian LIS researchers to the world LIS literature. Attempt has also been made to reflect the 20 leading LIS researchers from India, 20 leading LIS journals in which Indian LIS researchers mostly prefer to publish their research results and leading LIS research institutions and more. Design/methodology/approach: The scope of the study is limited to library and information research undertaken across the world in general and India in particular during the past decade, viz., 2011–20. To undertake the present study, data were retrieved from SCOPUS data source. The data were retrieved keeping in view the objectives of the study; accordingly, key words were framed and used to search the relevant data. Findings: Overall 77,659 research articles were published in the subject discipline of LIS across the world during the past decade, viz., 2011 through 2020. During the period of study, LIS researchers from India contributed 3,562 research articles constituting 4.59% of the total global LIS research output. The USA emerged the leading LIS research country with 33.03% research contribution, while India emerged as the fifth largest LIS research country in the world. A total of 12.85% research articles from India were contributed by 20 leading researchers. Only two LIS research journals from India were found indexed in the SCOPUS, in which 18.10% research articles were published by Indian LIS researchers during the period of study. More than 80% research results produced by Indian LIS researchers were published in foreign LIS research journals, mostly published from the USA and the UK. A good lot of Indian LIS researchers prefer to publish their research results in open access research journals. Library professionals, teachers and scholars from University of Delhi and University of Kashmir were found more active in LIS research in India. Research limitations/implications: India is one of the world's popular LIS academic, research and practicing country and has more responsibility toward world LIS research, whereby India, apart from fulfilling its own LIS research requirements, has to meet out the global LIS research demand. Thereon, if it lacks on research front, which otherwise acts as a backbone in the survival of a subject discipline, the survival of subject discipline may become difficult. Social implications: India is one of the most progressive LIS research countries in the world and is about to play a far greater role in propagating newer and modern library practices and services in the years to come. Originality/value: Quantification of research output at regional level or country level is very common among LIS professionals; accordingly, the existing study adds to existing world LIS literature about the India's contribution to world LIS research during the past decade. The paper aims to analyze the quality characteristics of Open Access Journals (OAJs) in Library and Information Science (LIS) published in India. The study assesses three OA journals, namely. International Journal of Information Dissemination and Technology (IJIDT), International Journal of Library and Information Studies (IJLIS), and International Research: Journal of Library and Information Science (IRJLIS). The analysis is performed in two parts. The first part is qualitative. The researchers measured parameters like basic information pertaining to the selected journals, publication trends, composition of the editorial board, and quality measures such as peer review and indexing. The second part of the analysis deals with citing journal sources, where the researchers evaluates the quality of citations received by the selected journals. The finding of the study reveals that all three OAJs established themselves as preferred sources to publish LIS research articles. The analysis of citing sources reveals that 73% of the citing journals are OAJs only. The results also show that only 50% of journals are from the core LIS subject, and the majority of the citing journals are from India. The purpose of this research study is to identify the core, advanced, specialized, and soft skills courses offered as part of the various library and information science programs. The course content of the Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS), offered in 2019–2020, was collected and analyzed from 10 LIS schools in India. Course contents were analyzed to understand whether the LIS schools are preparing graduates for the digital environment. A survey was conducted among 42 experts in library and information science on required courses in the MLIS program. Research finds that the LIS schools do not a have separate course module on digital library and that it is, instead, integrated and taught with the information and communication technology (ICT) course. There are also variations among the LIS schools in the allocation of topics and credits in each course. The experts opined that schools should allocate more credits to the advanced course, introduce new courses, and update the curricula for the future job market. New courses like 'research data management' and 'data and visual literacy' and courses on soft skills should be introduced in the MLIS program with 2–3 credits. There is a mismatch between the skills required in the job market and the skills imparted by the Indian LIS schools. The LIS schools should fill in the gap by introducing advanced, specialized, and soft courses in the MLIS program. The research findings have practical implications for the library and information science programs and educators. Webinars in Library and Information Science are on the rise during the COVID-19 period. This is much more visible in the Indian scenario. This article is an empirical study. This article gives a glimpse of the number & types of webinars in LIS from April 2020 to June 2021. The designation and gender of resource persons, the platforms of organization hosting these webinars, the frequency of the webinars and the subject matters of these webinars have all been focused clearly here. The methodology followed is the content analysis method of the various webinars held during COVID-19 period. The findings depict that total 460 national and international webinars were conducted during this COVID-19 period from April 2020 to June 2021, May and June 2020 were peak time of webinar 131 (28.47 %) followed by July 2020, 52 (11.30 %) and September 2020, 46 (10.00 %). In this paper, we analyzed systematically the doctoral research works produced by Indian Universities in the discipline of Library and Information Science (LIS). This study aims to find out the developmental pattern, current trends, popular focused areas, most productivity universities, and supervisors, as well as language and gender-wise productivity of LIS theses. Based on two Indian data sources a database was developed on LIS doctoral research and inferences were drawn as per the research questions formulated. It was observed that altogether 957 doctoral theses have been guided by 382 supervisors from 105 universities in India. Lotka's law of scientific productivity was applied for the first of it's kind to the 'guide-ship pattern of doctoral works' and found validated. Five broad areas of research are found to be the most focused themes of Indian LIS research. The present study analyses the articles published in DESIDOC Journal of Library and Information Technology (DJLIT) and SRELS Journal of Information Management, the leading UGC-CARE enlisted Indian journals in the field of Library and Information Science (LIS) during the year 2016-2020 which explores the volume wise, issue wise pattern of distribution of articles, authorship pattern of articles, geographical distribution of major contributions and contributors, state wise distribution of articles from India, reference distribution pattern and its authorship pattern. The study reveals that DJLIT (277) has more publications than SRELS Journal (248) during the mentioned period. DJLIT has got maximum contribution under two authorship pattern of articles 132 (47.65%) than SRELS Journal with 121 (48.79%) during the study period. DJLT has got more contributions from India (82.07%) than SRELS (89.24%). DJLIT has got more numbers of foreign countries (15) than SRELS Journal (8). New Delhi emerged at top position with 74 (32.56%) contributions and 156 contributors in DJLIT. B. M. Gupta contributed the highest number of articles publication (12) in DJLIT during the period of study. This paper attempts to explore the use of internet by LIS professionals of India for providing library support services during the crisis of COVID-19. For this purpose, an online questionnaire was designed using Google forms and sent to Indian Listserv ‒ ILOSC, NMLIS, LIS-Forum, and SALIS. The study finds that the majority of the LIS (Library and Information Science) professionals are providing library support services during the crisis of COVID-19 pandemic. The study also finds that LIS professionals were using all sorts of internet based communication tools even before the onset of COVID-19 pandemic. This seems to have helped the Indian LIS professionals in delivering services to the users. The present study is an attempt to carry out the citation analysis of all the journal articles published in the Annals of Library and Information Science from 2010-2019. A total of 7,124 citations appended to 328 papers were published in the journal during the ten-year study period. Average number of citations per article is maximum in 2018. Out of 7,124 citations appended, 1,039 (14.58%) citations appeared in 2010, followed by 873 (12.28%) citations in 2018, and 831 (11.66%) citations in 2013. The findings reveal that a majority of the papers have 16-20 citations (25%), followed by 11-15 (14.93%) citations, and 6-10 (14.02%) citations. The study also depicts that out of the total, 5,081 (71.29%) Web references were used in the article references. The Annals of Library and Information Science is the most preferred journal used by authors during the study period, being cited 476 times. The authorship pattern reveals that two-author citations are in the majority (46.45%). Purpose: The present study sought to analyze the Indian Research Information Network System (IRINS) instances with special reference to universities in India. The article explores top departments, faculty's publications and citations of individual university. Methodology: To undertake the present study, data were collected from the website of Indian Research Information Network System (IRINS)1. The present study confined to 29 Universities in India, most of them are centrally funded by Government of India. The collected data were classified, analyzed and tabulated by using statistical methods. Findings: The finding shows that the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) holds the highest numbers of faculties 1022 (15.40%) and has the highest scholarly publications 16376 (20.68%) with Scopus citation 208604 (22.05%) and Crossref citation 175973 (23.26%). The department of physics, Banaras Hindu University has the highest scholarly resources 2508(17.96%), whereas, the department of physics and astrophysics, University of Delhi has the highest 107 h-index with 1347 scholarly resources. The main purpose of the present study is to identify and understand the objectives and factors that influenced LIS teachers to make academic and research contribution towards the profession in India. It also intended to know the opinions of LIS teachers on their overall academic and research contributions towards the profession. A survey approach was used in this study and structured online questionnaire framed. Response was found that out of 353 respondents, 287 (81 %) responses received. The scope of study was confined to in-service teachers of library and information science in state and central universities of India. A total of 287 respondents, 202 (70.38 %) was male and 85 (29.61) was female. The study found that, the self-interest and professional interest are the major factor responsible for contributing to the LIS field. The self-interest of the LIS teachers has positive direct effect on professional interest and positive indirect effect on overall professional contribution to the LIS field. The professional interest of the LIS teachers has positive direct effect and its positive effect on overall professional contribution to the library and information science profession is statistically significant. The study attempted to design the ontology of Library and Information Science theses of central universities of India to visualize the doctoral research output in Library Information Science. The study also attempts to develop the ontology using ‘Methontology’, which is an ontology engineering methodology to explore the method. This Ontology contains 247 concepts, 244 Individuals, 125 Object property assertions, 85 Data property assertions. The developed ontology was evaluated and made sure that it meets the information need of its users and it has been found that Ontology could answer the majority of the questions after evaluation. The evaluation results are satisfactory and the model is valid. This ontology will act as a guide for everyone who is looking at India’s research productivity in the field of Library and Information Science, especially researchers and academicians all over the world. The present investigation explores the features of the research publications on stellar and galactic astrophysics research in India during the last 20 years, based on the Web of Science Core Collection and its implications using the scientometric techniques. The R program, VOS-viewer software, and Webometric Analyst 2.0 were used for the analysis. The results of this investigation unveil that the literature on the stellar and galactic astrophysics has grown exponentially during this period reaching 4352 papers in total. A network visualization map revealed that "galaxies: active", "stars: neutron", "galaxies: evolution", "galaxies: ism" and "radio continuum: galaxies" were the most frequently used keywords. The study identified the key scientometric indicators such as publications, authors, journals, countries, institutions, citation, and co-citation analysis. "Tata Institute of Fundamental Research" (TIFR) is the most extensive institutional contributor publishing 26.03% of the papers. Srianand R is the most published author with 143 publications. India has the most significant scientific collaboration with the USA. "Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society" is the most publishing journal with 1434 published papers having 25,853 citations. The total number of citations received is 1,13,860 citations, giving a ratio for the "Average Citations per Item" as 26.16 and "h-index" as 115. The scenario of LIS education and research in India and its overall development is very much progressive today. The number of library and information science departments has been increasing from 1960s and over time this subject has gradually emerged as a stream. In this study we will review the state and institutional distribution of the subject over time. As on 2017 the review has been done on total 1225 number of theses. Research in this subject has been steadily increasing since the 1980s and has so far been largely in the states of West. Bengal, Karnataka & Maharashtra. Karnataka University has highest number of theses among all the universities in India. The aim of the study was to examine the research contributions of library and information science teachers in India in terms of gender, type of universities and regional offices of university grants commission(UGC). A survey approach was used in this study and structured online questionnaire framed using google form. Responses received from 287 (81%) out of 353 LIS teachers. The scope of study was confined to the present working LIS teachers in state and central universities of India. A total of 287 respondents, 202 (70.38%) was male and 85 (29.61) was female. In this study the research contributions of LIS teachers was mainly focused on research supervision for Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degrees and also Minor and Major research projects in the field. The Ph.D output by male LIS teacher is significantly higher than female teachers. The M.Phil output by LIS teachers of state universities is significantly higher than the teachers of central universities. The prime purpose of this study is to find out the research productivity of three regions Nigeria, Pakistan, and India. The bibliometric quantification was used to analyze the data. The present research identifies the importance of this online journal. The study discloses frequency of publication growth, author's collaborations, papers length, and most cited papers, most productive authors, and total references used. Design/methodology/approach The survey method was used to find out the full-text research articles on the online database of LPP. The Google scholar was used to retrieve the citations. All the collected data has been analyzed using MS excel and other electronic devices. Findings The results of this study indicate that in the year 2008 to 2013. The contribution of Nigerian authors is more than the other two nations that are 226 while Indian comes 2nd with 193 research papers and Pakistan comes 3rd with 67 research articles from the studied period in the wellknown journal of Library and information science field that is LPP. The present study revealed the majority of the research articles were single authors from Nigeria 114, Pakistan 18, and India 80. The study results show that the majority of the paper length in the range of 6-10 Nigerian 116, Pakistan 34, and India 70 respectively. The study showed the total references were calculated 4140 from Nigeria, 1506 Pakistan, and 3243 from Indian. The most cited paper was retrieved by a Nigerian paper that is 197 citations. The analyzed data shows the most productive authors were Rubina Bhatti from Pakistan with 18 research papers. This study contributes to the existing literature of three-nation contributions to the Library Philosophy and practice throughout the year. This is the first study of three-nation research productivity in the well-known online journal library philosophy and practice. Limitations of the study The present study was limited to the well-known LIS Journal and research articles specifically published at online journal library philosophy and practice. This study is purely limited to the research productivity of Nigerian, Pakistani, and Indian authors to the Library Philosophy and Practice from 2008 to 2013. Practical implications Despite its limitations, the findings of the study will help the LIS professionals of three nations and as well as other parts of the LIS professionals to provide more information about their research productivity of a particular journal. The present paper has attempted to highlight published research in Library and Information Science discipline contributed by LIS researchers in India during the last four decades, 1980-2019. The secondary data for the study was extracted from Incites, a web based analytical tool, of Clarivate Analytics. The study has observed that there were 4304 publications by Indian authors, which received 17523 citations. It has spotlighted the research themes of the top 100 papers; having the highest numbers of citations. The study has analysed citations, publication avenues and authorship of all 4304 papers. Research themes of highly cited 100 research papers in the areas of applications of bibliometrics, knowledge management and information seeking behaviour on social media received 6110 citations. Bibliometrics/scientometrics/informetrics were the preferred research themes followed by information seeking behaviour and other areas. The study has also presented the analysis with respect to collaboration. The practice of solo research changed with authors collaborating in projects and producing papers. Percentage of co-authored articles grew from 5.61 per cent to 12.66 per cent in India. Library and information science education (LIS) has been spreading out all over India. Every state, one or more institutes/universities, offers LIS education. The research papers contributed by both academics and working professionally in the libraries. This paper examines the current trends of LIS publications in India from 2014 to 2018. The study reviewed 1357 documents from 2014 to 2018 indexed in the Scopus database. The study found that majority of the 342 (25.2%) papers published in the year 2018. Favorite source for publications was DESIDOC Journal of Library and Information Technology. Similarly, LIS Indians professional more likely to published research papers collaboratively. Further noted that most frequently used keywords were scientometric, bibliometrics, India and authorship patterns, etc. The degree of collaboration (DC) for five years was 0.79. Purpose: The study aims to find out the current scenario of library resources and services viz. collection including infrastructure, staff position, library services available in the private university libraries in the state of Assam, India. Methodology: Physical survey of all the five libraries has been conducted for which a questionnaire was designed. Findings: With the increasing number of library users, there should be adequate number of library staff to maintain all the different collections and services of the library. Private university libraries e-books and e-journals facility is not sufficient to cater the increasing demands of the users. Research Limitations: The study is applied to private university libraries within the geographical barrier within the state of Assam. It is applied only on the basic level library resources and services expected from a library. In this study, the activities of the sultans who reigned between the years 1526-1707 in the Mughal Empire founded by the Turks in the Indian Peninsula were examined. By mentioning the intellectual structures of the sultans, what kind of contributions they have made in the creation and development of libraries are discussed. It has been observed that activities related to librarianship such as enrichment of libraries with the translation of old works, the increasing visibility in books together with embroidery and long-term preservation of books thanks to bookbinding were prioritised. It is also worth noting that the palace library was developed by moving the libraries in the conquered places to the centre. It was also revealed that the palace library, whose foundations were laid with Babur Shah and Hümayun, systematized with Akbar Shah, developed with Jahangir, Shah Jahan and Aurangzeb, was a library with a unique richness. The current study conducted to quantify the research contribution of Library and Information Science (LIS) women faculty of India between 1988 and 2018. The study prepared an inclusive list of Indian universities offering LIS education by visiting its official websites individually and collected the names and other details of the LIS women faculties engaged in the teaching profession. The bibliographical data were extracted from the Scopus database during the year 1988-2018. Finally, a total of 146 research articles published by 38 LIS women faculty in India. The core findings of this study were the majority of research works published in journal articles followed by review articles, conference papers, and book chapters respectively. It was also revealed that LIS women faculty of India tend to publish more in an international platform than a national one. Dual authorship found dominating among the LIS women faculty of India. Further study revealed that P. Mahajan was the most productive LIS women faculty of India from Panjab University. The study result suggests that very small portion participations in research contributions as the current study surveyed 129 universities offering LIS education in India. However, many universities do not have a single LIS women faculty. The University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) can take necessary measures to boost up the research productivity of LIS women faculty of India. The present study investigates authorship trends and productivity among Library and Information Science (LIS) professionals who contributed journal articles in the selected 12 peer reviewed LIS journals of India, US and UK. For the purpose of the study four periodicals from each country are chosen during the period 2007 to 2017. The results analyzed proved that journal wise author distribution is highest in the published literature of UK with (3546) authors followed by India with (3162) and US (2420) authors. The obtained values of χ²= 66.331, ρ=0.05 found that there is an association between type of authorship and country. As India and UK accounted for more number of collaborative works while US has large number of solo article contributions. The data analyzed shows preference towards collaborative research in all the three countries with little variations. Lotka's law have been applied and tested using Pao's method and verified through Kolmgorov-Smirnov (KS) test. The application of Lotka's law when applied individually on author's data set of published literature of India with Dmax value=0.0238 and critical value=0.046, proves that observed authorship data holds good for Lotka's law in the authors' data. But with Dmax value=0.1362 and CV=0.04 in the author distribution of US and D max value=0.2520 and CV=0.04 of UK, does not support lotka's law. Overall the results of the K-S tests proved that author productivity distribution does not fits Lotka's law in the subject of library and information science in scholarly research output in Library and information science published journal literature of US and UK. Gender disparity is present in many research fields including in Library and Information Science (LIS). This paper studied gender disparity among Indian LIS professionals and measure the intellectual output 20 years. The study reviewed 1,195 publications in the LIS field from 1999 to 2018, determining the gender of the first author. An analysis of the publication list determined the yearly contributions of male and female authors, together with the average distributions, yearly citation rates and other metrics, by gender. Across the whole study period, publications first-authored by men outnumbered those by women. Similarly, overall contributions by men were higher than by women. BM Gupta and M Tripathi were the most prolific male and female authors, respectively. "India" was the most common keyword used by both first author genders. "Bibliometrics", "Digital Library", "Scientometrics", "Academic Libraries", "E-resources" and "web 2.0" were the core research areas of both men and women. When journals were divided into national and international scope, articles by men outnumbered those by women on both levels. However, 65% of the articles published by women were in international journals, compared to 58% of the articles published by men (59% overall), suggesting that the quality of work produced by women was comparable to or higher than the quality of work published by men. Consequently, gender parity in Indian LIS publications may be some way off. As such, further research is required to highlight and mitigate the issues experienced by women in academia in order to increase productivity in the LIS field in India. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Th is paper attempts to explore the use of internet by LIS professionals of India for providing library support services during the crisis of COVID-19. For this purpose, an online questionnaire was designed using Google forms and sent to Indian Listserv ‒ ILOSC, NMLIS, LIS-Forum, and SALIS. Th e study finds that the majority of the LIS (Library and Information Science) professionals are providing library support services during the crisis of COVID-19 pandemic. Th e study also finds that LIS professionals were using all sorts of internet based communication tools even before the onset of COVID-19 pandemic. Th is seems to have helped the Indian LIS professionals in delivering services to the users. There is very little guidance in library and information science (LIS) literature about how researchers should manage the scope, time, costs, quality, human resources, communications, and risks associated with LIS research projects. To fill this gap, researchers tested the utility of project management principles (PMP) for planning and managing a project designed to enhance the information, digital, and financial literacy of the people earning less than $2 per day in India. The customization of PMP through 29 mechanisms and 60 action items was used to conduct focus groups and in-person surveys with over 150 participants, in their native language, at 10 public libraries. PMP were most helpful for managing risks (13 solutions), communications (11 solutions), and human resources (10 solutions) of the project and treating participants ethically. This article presents a thorough bibliometric analysis of research published in Annals of Library and Information Studies (ALIS), an India-based journal, for the period 2011–2017. Specifically, it compares this journal's trends with those of other library and information science (LIS) journals from the same geographical area (India, and Asia as a whole) and with the 10 highest-rated LIS journals worldwide. The source of the data used was the multidisciplinary database Scopus. To perform this comparison, ALIS' production was analyzed in order to identify authorship patterns; for example, authors' countries of residence, co-authorship trends, and collaboration networks. Research topics were identified through keyword analysis, while performance was measured by examining the number of citations articles received. This study provides substantial information. The research lines detected through examining the keywords in ALIS articles were determined to be similar to those for the top LIS journals in both Asia and worldwide. Specifically, ALIS authors are focusing on metrics, bibliometrics, and social networking, which follows global trends. Notably, however, collaboration among Asia-based journals was found to be lower than that in the top-indexed journals in the LIS field, showing lesser internationalization. This paper discusses the present scenario of automation activities of university libraries in Kerala. The survey findings mainly cover various aspects of library automation such as information technology infrastructure, in-house activities, information services and their usage, manpower development, and budget. Purpose: Library and Information Science subject is exceedingly pragmatic in nature in India more than a century old, which is one of the most knowledge producing and knowledge utilizing area and is associated with many of the tool subjects like computer science, statistics, management science etc. Since the subject has a very practical base therefore, both the theory and practice should go side by side. As a knowledge fabricating domain, a lot of researchers, professionals, academicians etc. are profoundly involved in the research. This research work briefly traces the Library and Information Science research stemming from India in the 21st century based on the data as depicted in Indian Citation Index (ICI) during the year 2006 - 2015 which will help the LIS professionals to get aware of the latest and emerging issues in this field. Methodology: A whole of 2,483 bibliographic data set have been retrieved in CSV format from one of the India's national level citation database i.e. Indian Citation Index (ICI) from 2006 to 2015. Methodologically bibliometric tools and techniques have been taken up and descriptive statistics methods were employed. The study also uses fractional counting method. Findings: 2,460 sole Indian LIS researchers have contributed 2,483 research papers in seven diverse categories and amongst them, 90.61% (2250) are research articles. 2015 have been the most productive year by publishing 16.63 % literatures. SRELS, DJLIT, PEARL, IJILS, IASLIC Bulletin, Library Herald and ALIS are the most preferred journals to the LIS professionals for publishing their research works. Most of the works of the researchers has been categorised into 57 micro areas. Out of them, Bibliometrics (14%) is the most significant area for the research fraternity. Other emerging areas of research are the following-User studies, Information technology, digital libraries, library consortia, library automation etc. Many of the literatures have been published in closed access in comparison to open access platform. The study showcases the collaborative research is leading in this field. The study analyse the multiple intelligence skills of LIS professionals in working government and private universities in Tamil Nadu. Data were collected through questionnaire method. Totally 441 questionnaire were collected from 114 in traditional, 291 in Professional and 36 in Multi-discipline subjects. The study reveals that the private universities LIS professionals are more compare than government universities. The respondents from Government Universities are better skilled than their counterparts from private universities in all the 17 linguistic intelligence skills. Both government and private ranked first in the statement better stock verification. It is also clearly understand the respondents of Government universities are better skilled than their counterparts at private universities in respect of their bodily-kinaesthetic intelligence. The study found that in the statement "I enjoy working with other LIS professionals" ranked with first both government and private universities in the Interpersonal Intelligence skills. The purpose of this research is to examine the perceived importance and perceived experiences of library service quality for hospitality management students. Also, an effort was made to identify the strengths and weaknesses of library service quality based on their perception of library services. The researchers have used LibQUAL+®, a popular tool that libraries use to assess the perception of library service quality over the years. Undergraduates and postgraduate's students studying in one of the premier private hotel management institutes in India participated in this study. The findings of the study suggest that library service providers need to understand the needs of students and should have the inclination to help students in making the library a gateway for study, learning and research. The future research may include faculty members' perception of importance and performance of library service quality. This paper aims to study the content features of select Websites of Department of Library and Information Science in North India. The checklist was designed for content evaluation of selected websites of Department of Library and Information Science which was clubbed into nine categories. After evaluating the content of selected websites under study, it was found that the Department of Library and Information Science, University of Delhi is at rank number one among five Departments of Library and Information Science in north India and Department of Library and Information Science, Maharishi Dyanand University, Rohtak at the bottom rank. The study was limited to the content of DLIS websites in north India which were general in nature. This study compares the DLIS websites in terms of different content features employed on its websites. This paper presents the results of an online survey of Indian Library and Information Science professionals' knowledge and awareness of various topics related to copyright. Results of this study indicate the copyright literacy level of Indian LIS professionals. Only a small percent of respondents/professionals are familiar with copyright related issues. A major portion of the respondents depend on websites as a source for getting copyright related information followed by books and articles. After examining the overall findings it is concluded that the level of familiarity of Indian LIS professionals with issues concerning copyright is low as compared to the importance of the topic. The paper examines the awareness and use of library makerspaces. A well-structured questionnaire was used for collection of data. Around 700 questionnaires were distributed among the Indian library professionals. A total of 500 filled in questionnaires were received, out of which, only 470 questionnaires were selected for analysis of the data. The overall response rate was 67.14%. The result of the study demonstrates that among all users, 70% male and 30% female are aware of library's makerspaces. Majority of users utilising library makerspaces are pursuing master's degree. It has been found that nearly all of the academic libraries employees are using makerspaces facilities. Maximum number of respondents' (68.09%) using makerspaces facilities for academic and research purposes and reported them as a tool to educate students for the local and global economy (42.55%). When asked respondents about the state-of-the-art tools, technologies or forms for creating makerspaces, 44.68% of respondents claimed that their makerspaces have computer workstations. Approximately, 51.06% respondents indicated that their library's makerspaces offer students workshops/seminars/conferences. Implementation of Radio Frequency IDentification technology in libraries in a developing country like India has brought remarkable improvements in the services such as shelf charging-discharging, automated handling of materials, security, high-speed inventory and moved beyond security to become tracking systems that combine security with more efficient tracking of materials throughout the library, reduced the data entry errors, enhanced customer service, and records updates. This article is an attempt to assess the potential of these aspects after the implementation of RFID technology and factors responsible for the slow influx of the technology, as revealed in the reported literature covering the concerned libraries of India. The present study is an attempt to understand the research attitude, engagement and competencies of LIS professionals in higher educational institutions in India. It was found that out of 170 respondents, 145 (85.3%) respondents read research literature regularly and 75 (44.1) expressed that reading research based articles is their regular activity. But 95 (55.9) do not read journal articles. 155 (91.2) respondents revealed that they have conducted research after obtaining the formal degree. Majority of respondents 47 (27.6) revealed that their preferred mode of dissemination of research has been publishing paper in conference proceedings, followed by publishing a paper in refereed journals 35 (20.6). Maximum respondents 72 (40.0) followed a theoretical approach in conducting research, followed by survey method 55 (30.6). 'E-resources' (160) and 'Bibliometric Study' (120) has been the most preferred areas of research publishing. 'Lack of funding support' (160), 'time constraints' (155) and 'Problems in data collection' (150), have been identified as major constraints in carrying out research. The main purpose for conducting research is to find the academic performance indicators (APIs) 150, followed by personal growth (102). The study suggests that funding agencies and universities need to come forward to encourage LIS professionals to pursue research and publishing. Maharashtra is the third largest state, in India, known for its outstanding educational quality and facilities at all levels in almost all the major disciplines of study. There are 35 districts in the state with best colleges and higher education institutions. As we are moving ahead in all areas of developments and making massive investments in education to convert our younger population into globally competent human resources. LIS education in India is completing a century of its existence during the period progress have been achieved in developing LIS education to tune with current practices. This paper traces the current scenario of LIS education in Maharashtra. It provides an overview of the universities providing present LIS courses at various levels through regular courses. From the Maharashtra, nine universities are imparting regular LIS education were selected for the present study. The eligibility and admission criteria and syllabus of LIS education is discussed. It was seen that major universities in Maharashtra have to provide an integrated two-year postgraduate course in LIS, which is being widely accepted all over the country. This article analyzed the various bibliometric components of the articles published in the Malaysian Journal of Library and Information Science from 1996 to 2012. Various quality aspects of the 279 articles published in the period were studied. The study demonstrates and elaborates on the various aspects of the journal, such as its distribution of article by year, authorship patterns, distribution of contributions by institution, subject distributions, citation patterns, length of article, and geographical distributions of authors. Analysis of data reveals that more number of research articles are published from Malaysia followed by India. Bibliometrics / Scientrometrics / Journal Studies and User Studies are leading subject areas have been carried out during this period. The highest number of contributions was published in the year of 2011. The maximum number of articles has been contributed by academic institutions.
