Abstract
A literary criticism of the Greek and Latin editions of the chronicle "Excerpta Latina Barbari" is presented. Topics cited include the Latin translation of the chronicle being displayed at the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris, France, the connection of the chronicle towards the history of Egypt through mentions of the city of Alexandria, and the flaws of the Latin translation of "Excerpta Latina Barbari."

Abstract
The article describes the ancient city of Alexandria that was founded by Alexander the Great and discusses the Great Library of Alexandria. The question of whether the Great Library meets the standards of a library defined by modern society is discussed. The Great Library's founding, history, purpose, intellectual achievements, and philosophy are also discussed. The Great Library is examined in the context of its compliance with established library and modern professional criteria. The decline of the Great Library and its legendary qualities are also examined.
