The article presents industrial, agricultural and other trends affecting the income and general business outlook in the twelve Federal Reserve districts of the U.S. as of January 1944. It notes the decline in tool and heavy machinery work and pressure for steel in Cleveland, Ohio. The expansion of peacetime specialty industries in Virginia such as rayon, paper, furniture, and chemicals is mentioned. Updates on the coal output, oil production and shoe industry in Illinois and Indiana are also discussed.
