Rewinding machines are used in the paper converting industrial sector to unroll paper veils from large source reels and wind them around smaller rolls, for the production of paper logs to be used in household activities. Many different types of rewinding machine exist, and they are mostly based on stapling devices which automatically unroll a large coil of paper, roll it up around a new log, stop the veil allowing it to be torn off, unload the completed paper log, and reload a new paper core to be rolled up. Winding units generally include a primary and a secondary roller, supplying the desired rotational speed for winding, and a pressure unit consisting of a pressure roller in contact with the paper log being rolled up, which assures adequate containment and avoids the paper log to escape. All known systems have some mechanical limitations, mainly due to the contact of the pressure roller with the paper log, causing instabilities and vibrations, particularly when working with soft paper veils. This limits the maximum possible winding speed. The aim of this paper is it to present a detailed kinematic analysis of a novel pressure unit which overcomes the aforementioned limitation.

This comment is devoted to the paper “Lie Symmetry Analysis, Explicit Solutions, and Conservation Laws of a Spatially Two-Dimensional Burgers–Huxley Equation” (Symmery, 2020, vol.12, 170), in which several results are either incorrect, or incomplete, or misleading.

We correct a mistake in a lemma in the paper cited in the title and show that it did not affect any of the other results of the paper. To this end, we prove results on linearly disjoint field extensions that do not seem to be commonly known. We give an example to show that a separability assumption in one of these results cannot be dropped (doing so had led to the mistake). Further, we discuss recent generalizations of the original classification of defect extensions.

In 1903, Epstein published his proof of meromorphic continuation and a functional equation for Dirichlet series associated with quadratic forms, now called Epstein zeta-functions. However, already in 1889 (or even earlier) Hurwitz was aware of these results as his mathematical diaries and some unpublished notes (in an almost final form) found in his estate at the ETH Zurich show. In this article we present and analyze Hurwitz's notes and compare his reasoning with Epstein's paper in detail.

Inspired by the article “Anomalous relaxation model based on the fractional derivative with a Prabhakar-like kernel” (Z. Angew. Math. Phys. (2019) 70:42) whose authors Zhao and Sun studied the integro-differential equation with the kernel given by the Prabhakar function $$e^{-\gamma }_{\alpha , \beta }(t, \lambda )$$ , we provide the solution to this equation which is complementary to that obtained up to now. Our solution is valid for effective relaxation times whose admissible range extends the limits given in Zhao and Sun (Z Angew Math Phys 70:42, 2019, Theorem 3.1) to all positive values. For special choices of parameters entering the equation itself and/or characterizing the kernel, the solution comprises to known phenomenological relaxation patterns, e.g., to the Cole–Cole model (if $$\gamma = 1, \beta =1-\alpha $$ ) or to the standard Debye relaxation.

A class of games for finding a leader among a group of candidates is studied in detail. This class covers games based on coin tossing and rock-paper-scissors as special cases and its complexity exhibits similar stochastic behaviors: either of logarithmic mean and bounded variance or of exponential mean and exponential variance. Many applications are also discussed.

We correct an error in the paper of Z. Shen, S. Li, and J. Zhang published in [4]. In addition, we give an answer to a question posed by the authors.

Let [Formula: see text] be a projective variety of dimension [Formula: see text] over an algebraically closed field of arbitrary characteristic. We prove a Fujiki–Lieberman type theorem on the structure of the automorphism group of [Formula: see text]. Let [Formula: see text] be a group of zero entropy automorphisms of [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] the set of elements in [Formula: see text] which are isotopic to the identity. We show that after replacing [Formula: see text] by a suitable finite-index subgroup, [Formula: see text] is a unipotent group of the derived length at most [Formula: see text]. This result was first proved by Dinh et al. for compact Kähler manifolds.

We characterize functions of finite energy in the plane in terms of their traces on the lines that make up "graph paper" with squares of side length $mn$ for all $n$, and certain $\12-$order Sobolev norms on the graph paper lines. We also obtain analogous results for functions of finite energy on two classical fractals: the Sierpinski gasket and the Sierpinski carpet.

In this paper, we analyze the complexity of an eco-epidemiological model for phytoplankton–zooplankton system in presence of toxicity and time delay. Holling type II function response is incorporated to address the predation rate as well as toxic substance distribution in zooplankton. It is also presumed that infected phytoplankton does recover from the viral infection. In the absence of time delay, stability and Hopf-bifurcation conditions are investigated to explore the system dynamics around all the possible equilibrium points. Further, in the presence of time delay, conditions for local stability are derived around the interior equilibria and the properties of the periodic solution are obtained by applying normal form theory and central manifold arguments. Computational simulation is performed to illustrate our theoretical findings. It is explored that system dynamics is very sensitive corresponding to carrying capacity and toxin liberation rate and able to generate chaos. Further, it is observed that time delay in the viral infection process can destabilize the phytoplankton density whereas zooplankton density remains in its old state. Incorporation of time delay also gives the scenario of double Hopf-bifurcation. Some control parameters are discussed to stabilize system dynamics. The effect of time delay on (i) growth rate of susceptible phytoplankton shows the extinction and double Hopf-bifurcation in the zooplankton population, (ii) a sufficiently large value of carrying capacity stabilizes the chaotic dynamics or makes the whole system chaotic with further increment.

Månsson and Shukur (Econ Model 28:1475–1481, 2011) proposed a Poisson ridge regression estimator (PRRE) to reduce the negative effects of multicollinearity. However, a weakness of the PRRE is its relatively large bias. Therefore, as a remedy, Türkan and Özel (J Appl Stat 43:1892–1905, 2016) examined the performance of almost unbiased ridge estimators for the Poisson regression model. These estimators will not only reduce the consequences of multicollinearity but also decrease the bias of PRRE and thus perform more efficiently. The aim of this paper is twofold. Firstly, to derive the mean square error properties of the Modified Almost Unbiased PRRE (MAUPRRE) and Almost Unbiased PRRE (AUPRRE) and then propose new ridge estimators for MAUPRRE and AUPRRE. Secondly, to compare the performance of the MAUPRRE with the AUPRRE, PRRE and maximum likelihood estimator. Using both simulation study and real-world dataset from the Swedish football league, it is evidenced that one of the proposed, MAUPRRE ($$ \hat{k}_{q4} $$ k ^ q 4 ) performed better than the rest in the presence of high to strong (0.80–0.99) multicollinearity situation.

The main goal of this short paper is to prove the existence of rank 2 simple and special Ulrich bundles on a wide class of elliptic surfaces: namely, on regular Weierstrass fibrations \(\pi : S\rightarrow \mathbb {P}^1\). Alongside we also show the existence of rank 2 weakly Ulrich sheaves on arbitrary Weierstrass fibrations \(S\rightarrow C_0\) and we deal with the (non-)existence of rank one Ulrich bundles on them.

In this paper we study bipartite quantum correlations using techniques from tracial noncommutative polynomial optimization. We construct a hierarchy of semidefinite programming lower bounds on the minimal entanglement dimension of a bipartite correlation. This hierarchy converges to a new parameter: the minimal average entanglement dimension, which measures the amount of entanglement needed to reproduce a quantum correlation when access to shared randomness is free. For synchronous correlations, we show a correspondence between the minimal entanglement dimension and the completely positive semidefinite rank of an associated matrix. We then study optimization over the set of synchronous correlations by investigating quantum graph parameters. We unify existing bounds on the quantum chromatic number and the quantum stability number by placing them in the framework of tracial optimization. In particular, we show that the projective packing number, the projective rank, and the tracial rank arise naturally when considering tracial analogues of the Lasserre hierarchy for the stability and chromatic number of a graph. In a recent paper Robinson has obtained an explicit formula for the expression of an invariant matrix of an invariant matrix as a direct sum of invariant matrices. The object of the present note is to show that this formula may be deduced from known properties of Schur functions, with the aid of a result which the author has proved elsewhere.

In this short paper we combine the representability theorem introduced in [17, 18] with the theory of derived formal models introduced in [2] to prove the existence representability of the derived Hilbert space RHilb(X) for a separated k-analytic space X. Such representability results relies on a localization theorem stating that if X is a quasi-compact and quasi-separated formal scheme, then the \infty-category Coh^+(X^rig) of almost perfect complexes over the generic fiber can be realized as a Verdier quotient of the \infty-category Coh^+(X). This short paper concerns the existence of curves with low gonality on smooth hypersurfaces $$X\subset \mathbb {P}^{n+1}$$ . After reviewing a series of results on this topic, we report on a recent progress we achieved as a product of the Workshop Birational geometry of surfaces, held at University of Rome “Tor Vergata” on January 11th–15th, 2016. In particular, we obtained that if $$X\subset \mathbb {P}^{n+1}$$ is a very general hypersurface of degree $$d\geqslant 2n+2$$ , the least gonality of a curve $$C\subset X$$ passing through a general point of X is $$\mathrm {gon}(C)=d-\left\lfloor \frac{\sqrt{16n+1}-1}{2}\right\rfloor $$ , apart from some exceptions we list.

In this short paper, we construct a unipotent nearby cycle functor and show a p-adic analogue of Beilinson’s equivalence comparing two derived categories: the derived category of holonomic arithmetic $${\mathcal {D}}$$ -modules and the derived category of arithmetic $${\mathcal {D}}$$ -modules whose cohomologies are holonomic.

0.1. How it all began. When the second author translated a result on algebraic sur faces into the language of lattice polygons using toric geometry, he got a simple inequality for lattice polygons. This inequality had originally been discovered by Scott [12]. The first author then found a third proof. Subsequently, both authors went through a phase of polygon addiction. Once you get started drawing lattice polygons on graph paper and discovering relations between their numerical invariants, it is not so easy to stop! (The gentle reader has been warned.) Thus, it was just unavoidable that the authors came up with new inequalities: Scott's inequality can be sharpened if one takes into account another invariant, which is de fined by peeling off the skins of the polygons like an onion (see Section 3).

In 1985, Odoni showed that in characteristic 0 0 the Galois group of the n n -th iterate of the generic polynomial with degree d d is as large as possible. That is, he showed that this Galois group is the n n -th wreath power of the symmetric group S d S_d . We generalize this result to positive characteristic, as well as to the generic rational function. These results can be applied to prove certain density results in number theory, two of which are presented here. This work was partially completed by the late R.W.K. Odoni in an unpublished paper.

In this short paper I consider relation between measurements, numbers and p-adic mathematical physics. p-Adic numbers are not result of measurements, but nevertheless they play significant role in description of some systems and phenomena. In this short note we show that non-negative Ricci curvature is not preserved under Ricci flow for closed manifolds of dimensions four and above, strengthening a previous result of Knopf in \cite{K} for complete non-compact manifolds of bounded curvature. This brings down to four dimensions a similar result B\"ohm and Wilking have for dimensions twelve and above, \cite{BW}. Moreover, the manifolds constructed here are \Kahler manifolds and relate to a question raised by Xiuxiong Chen in \cite{XC}, \cite{XCL}., Comment: New version with added references and corrected typos

A large part of mathematical demography is built upon one fundamental theorem, the "strong ergodic theorem" of demography. If the fertility and mortality age-schedules of a population remain unchanged over time, its age distribution, no matter what its initial shape, will converge in time to a fixed and stable form. In brief, when demographic behavior remains unchanged, the population, it is said, converges to stability. This short paper presents a new argument for the convergence of the age structure, one that is self-contained, and that brings the mechanism behind convergence into full view. The idea is simple. Looked at directly, the dynamics of the age-distribution say little to our normal intuition. Looked at from a slightly different angle though, population dynamics define a smoothing or averaging process over the generations -- a process comfortable to our intuition. This smoothing and resmoothing turns out to be the mechanism that forces the age structure toward a fixed and final form.

When the reduced twisted $C^*$-algebra $C^*_r(\mathcal{G}, c)$ of a non-principal groupoid $\mathcal{G}$ admits a Cartan subalgebra, Renault's work on Cartan subalgebras implies the existence of another groupoid description of $C^*_r(\mathcal{G}, c)$. In an earlier paper, joint with Reznikoff and Wright, we identified situations where such a Cartan subalgebra arises from a subgroupoid $\mathcal{S}$ of $\mathcal{G}$. In this paper, we study the relationship between the original groupoids $\mathcal{S}, \mathcal{G}$ and the Weyl groupoid and twist associated to the Cartan pair. We first identify the spectrum $\mathfrak{B}$ of the Cartan subalgebra $C^*_r(\mathcal{S}, c)$. We then show that the quotient groupoid $\mathcal{G}/\mathcal{S}$ acts on $\mathfrak{B}$, and that the corresponding action groupoid is exactly the Weyl groupoid of the Cartan pair. Lastly we show that, if the quotient map $\mathcal{G}\to\mathcal{G}/\mathcal{S}$ admits a continuous section, then the Weyl twist is also given by an explicit continuous $2$-cocycle on $\mathcal{G}/\mathcal{S} \ltimes \mathfrak{B}$., 32 pages

The aim of this paper is to generalize results known for the symplectic involutions on K3 surfaces to the order 3 symplectic automorphisms on K3 surfaces. In particular, we will explicitly describe the action induced on the lattice $\Lambda_{K3}$, isometric to the second cohomology group of a K3 surface, by a symplectic automorphism of order 3; we exhibit the maps $\pi_*$ and $\pi^*$ induced in cohomology by the rational quotient map $\pi:X\dashrightarrow Y$, where $X$ is a K3 surface admitting an order 3 symplectic automorphism $\sigma$ and $Y$ is the minimal resolution of the quotient $X/\sigma$; we deduce the relation between the N\'eron--Severi group of $X$ and the one of $Y$. Applying these results we describe explicit geometric examples and generalize the Shioda--Inose structures, relating Abelian surfaces admitting order 3 endomorphisms with certain specific K3 surfaces admitting particular order 3 symplectic automorphisms., Comment: 28 pages. The inverse Frobenius-Perron problem (IFPP) is a collective term for a family of problems that requires the construction of an ergodic dynamical system model with prescribed statistical characteristics. Solutions to this problem draw upon concepts from ergodic theory and are scattered throughout the literature across domains such as physics, engineering, biology and economics. This paper presents a survey of the original formulation of the IFPP, wherein the invariant probability density function of the system state is prescribed. The paper also reviews different strategies for solving this problem and demonstrates several of the techniques using examples. The purpose of this survey is to provide a unified source of information on the original formulation of the IFPP and its solutions, thereby improving accessibility to the associated modeling techniques and promoting their practical application. The paper is concluded by discussing possible avenues for future work.

In this paper we prove that a nodal hypersurface in P^4 with defect has at least (d-1)^2 nodes, and if it has at most 2(d-2)(d-1) nodes and d>6 then it contains either a plane or a quadric surface. Furthermore, we prove that a nodal double cover of P^3 ramified along a surface of degree 2d with defect has at least d(2d-1) nodes. We do three things in this paper: (1) study the analog of localization sequences (in the sense of algebraic $K$-theory of stable $\infty $-categories) for additive $\infty $-categories, (2) define the notion of nilpotent extensions for suitable $\infty $-categories and furnish interesting examples such as categorical square-zero extensions, and (3) use (1) and (2) to extend the Dundas–Goodwillie–McCarthy theorem for stable $\infty $-categories that are not monogenically generated (such as the stable $\infty $-category of Voevodsky’s motives or the stable $\infty $-category of perfect complexes on some algebraic stacks). The key input in our paper is Bondarko’s notion of weight structures, which provides a “ring-with-many-objects” analog of a connective $\mathbb{E}_1$-ring spectrum. As applications, we prove cdh descent results for truncating invariants of stacks extending the work by Hoyois–Krishna for homotopy $K$-theory and establish new cases of Blanc’s lattice conjecture.

Recently, two of the authors of this paper constructed cyclic cocycles on Harish-Chandra's Schwartz algebra of linear reductive Lie groups that detect all information in the $K$-theory of the corresponding group $C^*$-algebra. The main result in this paper is an index formula for the pairings of these cocycles with equivariant indices of elliptic operators for proper, cocompact actions. This index formula completely determines such equivariant indices via topological expressions., 40 pages; updates based on referee comments; expanded proof of Proposition 3.3

In many applications it is desirable to consider not one random vector but a number of random vectors with the joint distribution. This paper is devoted to the integral and integral transformations connected with the joint vector Gaussian probability density function. Such integral and transformations arise in the statistical decision theory, particularly, in the dual control theory based on the statistical decision theory. One of the results represented in the paper is the integral of the joint Gaussian probability density function. The other results are the total probability formula and Bayes formula formulated in terms of the joint vector Gaussian probability density function. As an example the Bayesian estimations of the coefficients of the multiple regression function are obtained. The proposed integrals can be used as table integrals in various fields of research.

This paper presents some new formulas and properties of the generalized fractional derivative with non-singular kernel that covers various types of fractional derivatives such as the Caputo–Fabrizio fractional derivative, the Atangana–Baleanu fractional derivative, and the weighted Atangana–Baleanu fractional derivative. These new properties extend many recent results existing in the literature. Furthermore, the paper proposes some interesting inequalities that estimate the generalized fractional derivatives of some specific functions. These inequalities can be used to construct Lyapunov functions with the aim to study the global asymptotic stability of several fractional-order systems arising from diverse fields of science and engineering.

In our previous paper, viewing $D^b(K(l))$ as a noncommutative curve, where $K(l)$ is the Kronecker quiver with $l$-arrows, we introduced categorical invariants via counting of noncommutative curves. Roughly, these invariants are sets of subcategories in a given category and their quotients. The noncommutative curve-counting invariants are obtained by restricting the subcategories to be equivalent to $D^b(K(l))$. The general definition, however, defines a larger class of invariants and many of them behave properly with respect to fully faithful functors. Here, after recalling the definition, we focus on the examples and extend our studies beyond counting. We enrich our invariants with the following structures: the inclusion of subcategories makes them partially ordered sets and considering semi-orthogonal pairs of subcategories as edges amounts to directed graphs. It turns out that the problem for counting $D^b(A_k)$ in $D^b(A_n)$ has a geometric combinatorial parallel - counting of maps between polygons. Estimating the numbers counting noncommutative curves in $D^b({\mathbb P}^2)$ modulo the group of autoequivalences, we prove finiteness and that the exact determining of these numbers leads to a solution of Markov problem. Via homological mirror symmetry, this gives a new approach to this problem. Regarding the structure of a partially ordered set mentioned above, we initiate intersection theory of noncommutative curves focusing on the case of noncommutative genus zero. The above-mentioned structure of a directed graph (and related simplicial complex) is a categorical analogue of the classical curve complex, introduced by Harvey and Harrer. The paper contains pictures of the graphs in many examples and also presents an approach to Markov conjecture via counting of subgraphs in a graph associated with $D^b({{\mathbb{P}}}^2)$. Some of the results proved here were announced in a previous work.

As more long-span bridges continue to be completed and opened to traffic, the safety of cars driving across the bridge has attracted more and more attention, especially when the car is suddenly affected by the crosswind, the car is likely to have direction deviation or even a rollover accident. In this paper, the large eddy simulation method is used to study the flow field characteristics and safety of the car on the bridge under the turbulent crosswind. The numerical simulation model is established by referring to the Donghai Bridge, and the correctness of the car model is validated by combining with the data of wind tunnel test. The influence of factors such as the porosity and height of the bridge guardrail and the Reynolds number of airflow on the flow field characteristics is analyzed. The study shows that, in order to ensure the safety of cars on the bridge, the bridge guardrail porosity should be small, 35.8% is more suitable, the guardrail height should be more suitable within the range of 1.5–1.625 meters, and the Reynolds number should not be 3.51e + 5. The research results of this paper will provide reference for the optimal design of bridge guardrail.

This paper studies the virtual $\chi_{-y}$-genera of Grothendieck's Quot schemes on surfaces, thus refining the calculations of the virtual Euler characteristics by Oprea-Pandharipande. We first prove a structural result expressing the equivariant virtual $\chi_{-y}$-genera of Quot schemes universally in terms of the Seiberg-Witten invariants. The formula is simpler for curve classes of Seiberg-Witten length $N$, which are defined in the paper. By way of application, we give complete answers in the following cases: (i) arbitrary surfaces for the zero curve class, (ii) relatively minimal elliptic surfaces for rational multiples of the fiber class, (iii) minimal surfaces of general type with $p_g>0$ for any curve classes. Furthermore, a blow up formula is obtained for curve classes of Seiberg-Witten length $N$. As a result of these calculations, we prove that the generating series of the virtual $\chi_{-y}$-genera are given by rational functions for all surfaces with $p_g>0$, addressing a conjecture of Oprea-Pandharipande. In addition, we study the reduced $\chi_{-y}$-genera for $K3$ surfaces and primitive curve classes with connections to the Kawai-Yoshioka formula., Comment: 48 pages. We classify the Seifert fibrations of lens spaces where the base orbifold is non-orientable. This is an addendum to our earlier paper ‘Seifert fibrations of lens spaces’. We correct Lemma 4.1 of that paper and fill the gap in the classification that resulted from the erroneous lemma.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to study the Bertotti–Kasner space-time and its geometric properties.Design/methodology/approachThis paper is based on the features of λ-tensor and the technique of six-dimensional formalism introduced by Pirani and followed by W. Borgiel, Z. Ahsan et al. and H.M. Manjunatha et al. This technique helps to describe both the geometric properties and the nature of the gravitational field of the space-times in the Segre characteristic.FindingsThe Gaussian curvature quantities specify the curvature of Bertotti–Kasner space-time. They are expressed in terms of invariants of the curvature tensor. The Petrov canonical form and the Weyl invariants have also been obtained.Originality/valueThe findings are revealed to be both physically and geometrically interesting for the description of the gravitational field of the cylindrical universe of Bertotti–Kasner type as far as the literature is concerned. Given the technique of six-dimensional formalism, the authors have defined the Weyl conformal λW-tensor and discussed the canonical form of the Weyl tensor and the Petrov scalars. To the best of the literature survey, this idea is found to be modern. The results deliver new insight into the geometry of the nonstatic cylindrical vacuum solution of Einstein's field equations.

The random vector functional link (RVFL) network is suitable for solving nonlinear problems from transformer fault symptoms and different fault types due to its simple structure and strong generalization ability. However, the RVFL network has a disadvantage in that the network structure, and parameters are basically determined by experiences. In this paper, we proposed a method to improve the RVFL neural network algorithm by introducing the concept of hidden node sensitivity, classify each hidden layer node, and remove nodes with low sensitivity. The simplified network structure could avoid interfering nodes and improve the global search capability. The five characteristic gases produced by transformer faults are divided into two groups. A fault diagnosis model of three layers with four classifiers was built. We also investigated the effects of the number of hidden nodes and scale factors on RVFL network learning ability. Simulation results show that the number of implicit layer nodes has a large impact on the network model when the number of input dimensions is small. The network requires a higher number of implicit layer neurons and a smaller threshold range. The size of the scale factor has significant influence on the network model with larger input dimension. This paper describes the theoretical basis for parameter selection in RVFL neural networks. The theoretical basis for the selection of the number of hidden nodes, and the scale factor is derived. The importance of parameter selection for the improvement of diagnostic accuracy is verified through simulation experiments in transformer fault diagnosis.

In this paper we study graded Bourbaki ideals. It is a well-known fact that for torsionfree modules over Noetherian normal domains, Bourbaki sequences exist. We give criteria in terms of certain attached matrices for a homomorphism of modules to induce a Bourbaki sequence. Special attention is given to graded Bourbaki sequences. In the second part of the paper, we apply these results to the Koszul cycles of the residue class field and determine particular Bourbaki ideals explicitly. We also obtain in a special case the relationship between the structure of the Rees algebra of a Koszul cycle and the Rees algebra of its Bourbaki ideal., Comment: 29 pages

The discriminant group of a minimal equicontinuous action of a group $G$ on a Cantor set $X$ is the subgroup of the closure of the action in the group of homeomorphisms of $X$, consisting of homeomorphisms which fix a given point. The stabilizer and the centralizer groups associated to the action are obtained as direct limits of sequences of subgroups of the discriminant group with certain properties. Minimal equicontinuous group actions on Cantor sets admit a classification by the properties of the stabilizer and centralizer direct limit groups. In this paper, we construct new families of examples of minimal equicontinuous actions on Cantor sets, which illustrate certain aspects of this classification. These examples are constructed as actions on rooted trees. The acting groups are countable subgroups of the product or of the wreath product of groups. We discuss applications of our results to the study of attractors of dynamical systems and of minimal sets of foliations., 20 pages, 1 figure. The original definition of cluster algebras by Fomin and Zelevinsky has been categorified and generalised in several ways over the course of the past 20 years, giving rise to cluster theory. This study lead to Iyama and Yang's generalised cluster categories $\mathcal{T}/\mathcal{T}^{fd}$ coming from $n$-Calabi-Yau triples $(\mathcal{T}, \mathcal{T}^{fd}, \mathcal{M})$. In this paper, we use some classic tools of homological algebra to give a deeper understanding of such categories $\mathcal{T}/\mathcal{T}^{fd}$. Let $k$ be a field, $n\geq 3$ an integer and $\mathcal{T}$ a $k$-linear triangulated category with a triangulated subcategory $\mathcal{T}^{fd}$ and a subcategory $\mathcal{M}=\text{add}(M)$ such that $(\mathcal{T}, \mathcal{T}^{fd}, \mathcal{M})$ is an $n$-Calabi-Yau triple. In this paper, we prove some properties of the triangulated categories $\mathcal{T}$ and $\mathcal{T}/\mathcal{T}^{fd}$. Our first result gives a relation between the Hom-spaces in these categories, using limits and colimits. Our second result is a Gap Theorem in $\mathcal{T}$, showing when the truncation triangles split. Moreover, we apply our two theorems to present an alternative proof to a result by Guo, originally stated in a more specific setup of dg $k$-algebras $A$ and subcategories of the derived category of dg $A$-modules. This proves that $\mathcal{T}/\mathcal{T}^{fd}$ is Hom-finite and $(n-1)$-Calabi-Yau, its object $M$ is $(n-1)$-cluster tilting and the endomorphism algebras of $M$ over $\mathcal{T}$ and over $\mathcal{T}/\mathcal{T}^{fd}$ are isomorphic. This paper studies the stator winding electromagnetic force behaviors before and after rotor inter-turn short circuit (RISC) in synchronous generator. Different from other studies, this paper not only studies the electromagnetic force characteristics, but also investigates the mechanical responses, the damage regularity, and the countermeasure of the stator winding. Firstly, formulas of electromagnetic force online and end part are obtained. Then, a 3D finite element model of a 3-pair-pole simulation generator is applied to get the electromagnetic force, and the dangerous stator slot is found. Finally, the mechanical response of each end winding is acquired, and especially the directional deformations of nose part are calculated. It shows that the occurrence of RISC will bring in times of rotor rotating frequency components to electromagnetic force, but the DC component and 2p times of rotor rotating frequency components are still the main that will be decreased. Additionally, the winding insulation wear in the same layer is more serious than that in a different layer, nose fatigue fracture begins with the center, and nose insulation wear starts from the top.

This article belongs to the Special Issue Advances in Quantum Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning [Abstract] In this paper, we illustrate that inaccurate knowledge can be efficiently implemented in a quantum environment. For this purpose, we analyse the correlation between certainty factors and quantum probability. We first explore the certainty factors approach for inexact reasoning from a classical point of view. Next, we introduce some basic aspects of quantum computing, and we pay special attention to quantum rule-based systems. In this context, a specific use case was built: an inferential network for testing the behaviour of the certainty factors approach in a quantum environment. After the design and execution of the experiments, the corresponding analysis of the obtained results was performed in three different scenarios: (1) inaccuracy in declarative knowledge, or imprecision, (2) inaccuracy in procedural knowledge, or uncertainty, and (3) inaccuracy in both declarative and procedural knowledge. This paper, as stated in the conclusions, is intended to pave the way for future quantum implementations of well-established methods for handling inaccurate knowledge. With the rapid development of the Internet, various forms of network attack have emerged, so how to detect abnormal behavior effectively and to recognize their attack categories accurately have become an important research subject in the field of cyberspace security. Recently, many hot machine learning-based approaches are applied in the Intrusion Detection System (IDS) to construct a data-driven model. The methods are beneficial to reduce the time and cost of manual detection. However, the real-time network data contain an ocean of redundant terms and noises, and some existing intrusion detection technologies have lower accuracy and inadequate ability of feature extraction. In order to solve the above problems, this paper proposes an intrusion detection method based on the Decision Tree-Recursive Feature Elimination (DT-RFE) feature in ensemble learning. We firstly propose a data processing method by the Decision Tree-Based Recursive Elimination Algorithm to select features and to reduce the feature dimension. This method eliminates the redundant and uncorrelated data from the dataset to achieve better resource utilization and to reduce time complexity. In this paper, we use the Stacking ensemble learning algorithm by combining Decision Tree (DT) with Recursive Feature Elimination (RFE) methods. Finally, a series of comparison experiments by cross-validation on the KDD CUP 99 and NSL-KDD datasets indicate that the DT-RFE and Stacking-based approach can better improve the performance of the IDS, and the accuracy for all kinds of features is higher than 99%, except in the case of U2R accuracy, which is 98%.
