The article presents information on the implementation and exemptions of the Chinese Immigration Act of 1885 in Canada. The Act imposes $50 as tax on Chinese for entering Canada by ship or otherwise. It also restricts the number of Chinese to one for fifty tons in a ship. The Act exempts the suite and servants of the diplomats, and those who bring certain documentary evidence of their identity. According to the Section 17 of the Act that the tribunals composed of Chinese for hearing any offense of Chinese people should be suppressed. The Chinese Regulation Act of 1884 imposed $10 annually on every Chinese above the age of fourteen.
