TRAINING of soccer players ,SOCCER midfielders ,ATHLETIC ability ,PHYSICAL training & conditioning ,HEART rate monitoring - Abstract
Purpose. Small-sided games (SS G) with floaters are frequently adopted during the training process of soccer players. However, no study has previously investigated how the rules imposed to these additional players impact the physical, tactical, and physiological responses of the regular players. This study aimed to analyse the influence of the number of floaters on players' tactical behaviour, physical demands, and physiological responses in soccer SS Gs and to compare these variables between players with different positional statuses. Methods. Overall, 32 U-13 (n = 16) and U-14 (n = 16) players participated in this study, performing four 4-minute 3 vs. 3 SS Gs in both 1-floater and 2-floater formats. The frequency of core tactical principles, time-motion variables, and heart rate were used to describe the game multifactorial phenomenon. Results. Results showed an increased number of tactical actions of delays, defensive coverage, and width and length without ball actions in the 2-floater SS G without differences in physical demands or physiological response. Midfielders presented higher frequencies of penetration and offensive coverage, and lower frequencies of actions of width and length without the ball. There were also higher physical and physiological responses in midfielders. Conclusions. In conclusion, the 2-floater 3 vs. 3 format may be an important pedagogical strategy to promote a higher ball circulation pattern during SS Gs. Midfielders are the most demanded players tactically, physically, and physiologically in 3 vs. 3 SS Gs with floaters. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

MENTAL fatigue ,SOCCER players ,SOCCER training ,STROOP effect ,WILCOXON signed-rank test - Abstract
Purpose. The aim of the study was to verify the effect of mental fatigue on tactical actions quality and the intensity of covered distance in soccer players. Methods. Six U-15 male soccer players participated in this study (14.7 ± 0.59 years of age). For data collection, the FUT-SAT and GPSports® (SPI-HPU) systems were applied. to induce mental fatigue, the Stroop task was used for 20 minutes. the individuals were evaluated in 2 conditions: mental fatigue and control (with and without the Stroop task). Statistical analysis was performed with the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, t-test, and Wilcoxon test. Results. The results displayed significant differences in actions related to principles of balance (p = 0.02), defensive unity (p < 0.01), and total defensive actions (p = 0.02), as well as in the covered distance in intensity related to zones 3 (p = 0.03) and 6 (p < 0.01). In mental fatigue, the players revealed a decrease in tactical action quality referring to movements that aimed at numerical stability in relations of opposition and at defending in unity and in block, and covered greater distances in zones 3 and 6. Conclusions. Mental fatigue modified the players' movement dynamics on the pitch with reference to the quality of tactical actions and covered distance intensity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The purpose of this paper was to report the development and preliminary validation of tactical assessment system in Soccer and highlight its advantages. The validation process followed five perspectives of the concept of validity that consider the value of heuristic methods and the importance of the description of behavior performed in playing situations. Thus, the process of validation was focused on four points: i) acceptability and reasonableness of the test perceived by players; ii) analysis of content of assessment tool through a panel of experts; iii) potential of the assessment tool to discriminate the quality of the performance of players; iv) observation reliability. The results displayed values higher than 0.63 for correlation between the evaluations of coaches and the system. It shows the potential of this system to distinguish the performances of players based on the evaluations of coaches. The players who performed the field test agreed with its physical demands and spatial and normative configurations. All experts endorsed the categories and variables of this system. The reliabilities showed values higher than 0.79 for intra and inter-observers. Therefore, it is possible to conclude that the system is valid and reliable for the assessment of the tactical behavior of soccer players.

The aim of this study is to examine how impulsivity relates to the tactical behavior of under-11 youth soccer players. The sample comprised 30 Under-11 youth soccer players. FUT-SAT was used to assess the tactical behavior and the Iowa Gambling Task Brazilian version (IGT-Br) was used to evaluate impulsivity. Shapiro-Wilk test was performed to verify data distribution and Pearson correlation was used to verify the correlation between the variables (p < 0.05). Negative correlation between impulsivity and the performance of the offensive tactical principle of depth mobility was verified. Therefore, less impulsive players are more likely to engage in behaviors associated with this principle. It was concluded that the impulsivity relate to the tactical behavior of Under-11 youth soccer players, specifically with the principle of depth mobility. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract The paper aimed to compare tactical behaviors of Futsal players from U-13, U-15, U-17 and U-20 age levels. The FUT-SAT was used to evaluated tactical actions according to tactical principles of the game of soccer. It was verified that at higher age levels players performed more tactical actions related to the principles “offensive coverage”, “width and length”, “delay”, “defensive coverage”, “concentration” and “defensive unity” and at lower age levels they performed more actions of “penetration” and “mobility”. It is concluded that U-20 players played better in the “defensive phase” and “in game” and obtained better tactical performance indexes in the “defensive phase” when compared to those from the U-15 and U-17 age levels. This study verified the correlation between aerobic power and tactical efficacy in young male football players. FUT-SAT was used to assess the tactical efficacy related to offensive and defensive tactical principles, and the Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery Test Level 2 was used to assess the aerobic power. Eighteen U-17 young football players from a football club of Minas Gerais were evaluated. Spearman correlation coefficient was used at a level of significance of 5%. Results showed no significant correlation between the parameters analyzed. It follows that aerobic power and tactical efficacy do not have correlation in this study group, but more studies are suggested with athletes from different ages and with other football skills. This paper presents how decision-making and skills are developed in high level of expertise players from 6-7 to 13-14 years. The framework is based on the dynamical systems and teaching games for understanding approaches. Participants were 57 first team players of each age (n = 13 to 16) of Albacete Balompié: U-8, U-10, U-12 and U-14. The Game Performance Assessment Tool (GPET) was the instrument used for assessment, which measures decision-making and execution from an ecological view in relation to tactical principles (Bayer, 1992), comparing the game situation with the decision applied. The results are based on inferential and correlation analysis. The evolution of knowledge evolves attack to defensive. We have found significant differences in variables between the four age categories studied. These differences have been shown in attack: the progress toward goal tactical principle and shake off; on defence: marking and cover (off-ball defenders)

This research aims to design and validate, in the Squash players, the McPherson and French ‘Components of Real Play in Tennis Encoding Instrument´ (1991). The new ‘Performance Assessment Tool in Squash´ (SPET) was configured by three factors: tactical principles, decision making and execution of motor skills for technical-tactical gestures of returning of the serve and the drop shot in situation of real game. The incorporation of tactical principles of game provides an ecological contextualization of sport, responding to the requirement to assess decision-making and performance in sport contexts: representative experimental tasks in situ conditions. The 12 players in the HERS results show inter-observer reliability: in expert players have a Cronbach’s Alpha .787 for the drop out gesture and .878 for the return gesture; in rookie players are a Cronbach’s Alpha of .916 for drop out gesture and .918 for the return gesture. The reliability, in the stability of the instrument, achieves a Cronbach’s Alpha of .903 at drop out gesture and .887 on the return gesture. The SPET has an adequate content validity, by the positive assessment of six external experts. It has an adequate criterion validity oriented to the prediction, since, in the study; the criterion comes from the level of expertise and the performance in real game situation. It has been developed an assessment tool valid and innovative, which allows measuring, in a closest procedure to the Ecological Systems, players from different contexts or expertise levels related to the decision-making and the implementation towards the improvement of performance., El objetivo del estudio es diseñar y validar una herramienta de evaluación para squash, para ello se parte del instrumento en tenis de McPherson y French (1991).

The aim of study was to verify what tactical behaviors differ winner from loser teams in small sized games in youth soccer players. The tactical performance of winners and losers teams was compared through of System of Tactical Assessment in Soccer (FUT-SAT). Three thousand eight hundred and eight tactical actions were carried out by seventy-two youth soccer players from the under-11 (n=12), under-13 (n=12), under-15 (n=30) and under-17 (n=18) categories of Portuguese teams. Twenty four teams were composed to analyze, each team carried out one match (12 match analyzed). Each team was composed by three line players with goalkeeper which was not analyzed in test. The statistical analysis was performed thought the SPSS 17.0 software for Windows. A descriptive analyze and the KolmogorovSmirnov, Chi-square, Mann-Whitney U and T-Test tests to the independent samples was carried out, and the Cohen’s Kappa test to determining of the sample reability. Considering 76 variables analyzed, 12 presented significant differences among players of winners and loses teams. The players of the winner teams presented superiority in Macro-Category Action, in the Defensive tactical principles, Equilibrium and Defensive Unity. In the category Local of action in the Field, the winner teams presented superiority in the number of defensive actions performed in the defensive midfielder. In the category Result of the action, the variables Keep without the ball, Retrieving the ball possession and Shots on goal the winner teams presented higher results, while in variables Losing the ball possession and Suffering shot on goal the loser teams presented higher results. In the Performance Macro-Category, the superiority of the winners was showed by better Tactical Performance Index (TPI) in the Penetration principles, Offensive Unity, and in the Offensive phase of the game. The results demonstrated that the winner players presented superiority in both stages of the game. The tactical procedural knowledge assessment has displayed scarce approach concerning characteristics of Soccer game, specially, in the teaching context. This paper aims to show a proposal of tactical behavior evaluation of soccer player which takes account fundamentals tactical principles of Soccer game. This proposal tries to reflect specificity of the Soccer context and to establish a connection between the contents of training sections and assessment of the tactical development of players in all formations stages.

As fiabilidades intra e inter-avaliadores apresentaram valores superiores a .79.

It has been developed an assessment tool valid and innovative, which allows measuring, in a closest procedure to the Ecological Systems, players from different contexts or expertise levels related to the decision-making and the implementation towards the improvement of performance.
