The 2D materials exhibit numerous technological applications, but their scalable production is a core challenge. Herein, ball milling exfoliation in supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) and polystyrene (PS) is demonstrated to completely exfoliate hexagonal boron nitride nanosheets (BNNSs), graphene, molybdenum disulfide (MoS2), and tungsten disulfide (WS2). The exfoliation yield of 91%, 93%, 92%, and 92% and average aspect ratios of 743, 565, 564, and 502 for BNNSs, graphene, MoS2, and WS2, respectively, are achieved. Integrating exfoliated BNNSS in the polystyrene matrix, 3768 % thermal conductivity in the axial direction and 316% in the cross‐plane direction at 12 wt.% loading is increased. Also, the in‐plane and cross‐plane electrical conductivity of 6.3 × 10−4 S m−1 and 6.6 × 10−3 S m−1, respectively, and the electromagnetic interference (EMI) of 63.3 dB is achieved by exfoliated graphene nanosheets based composite. High thermal and electrical conductivities and EMI shielding are attributed to the high aspect ratio and ultrathin morphology of the exfoliated nanosheets, which exert high charge mobility and form better the percolation network in the composite films due to their high surface area. This study aims to extract phenolic-enriched compounds, specifically oleuropein, luteoloside, and hydroxytyrosol, from olive leaves using ball milling-assisted extraction (BMAE). Response surface methodology (RSM) and the Box–Behnken design (BBD) were used to evaluate the effects of the temperature, solvent-to-solid ratio, and milling speed on extraction recovery. The contents of the extract were determined by ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS) and converted to recoveries to evaluate the extraction efficiency. The optimal extraction conditions for oleuropein, luteoloside, and hydroxytyrosol were identified. Oleuropein had a recovery of 79.0% ± 0.9% at a temperature of 56.4 °C, a solvent-to-solid ratio of 39.1 mL/g, and a milling speed of 429 rpm. Luteoloside's recovery was 74.6% ± 1.2% at 58.4 °C, 31.3 mL/g, and 328 rpm. Hydroxytyrosol achieved 43.1% ± 1.3% recovery at 51.5 °C, 32.7 mL/g, and 317 rpm. The reason for the high recoveries might be that high energy ball milling could reduce the sample size further, breaking down the cell walls of olive leaves, to enhance the mass transfer of these components from the cell to solvent. Many UAVs today have an S-bend inlet for the sake of stealth; however, the majority of them have a relatively gentle transition of the flow channel. This study presents an experimental investigation of the aerodynamic performance and swirl flow characteristics of a UAV inlet with double 90° bends, which is also integrated with an aircraft fuselage as well as a volute. The influences of angle of attack, sideslip angle, AIP Mach number and freestream speed are explored in detail. The influences of the deflectors installed ahead of the first 90° bend of the inlet and the baffle installed at the bottom of the volute are revealed. It is found that both the deflectors and the baffle are beneficial in enhancing the aerodynamic performance of the inlet and alleviating the intensity of the swirl flow inside the volute. In this study, the influence laws of different parameters on the exclusion characteristics of hailstone and ice flake, and on the aerodynamic performance of the inlet are studied by numerical method. The motion of the hailstone and ice flake is simulated using the 6-DOF method. Results show that the inhalation of hailstone in the inlet decreases total pressure distortion by about 20%, and the total pressure recovery coefficient is essentially unchanged. Icing of the upper lip decreases the total pressure distortion of the inlet by about 22%, and the total pressure recovery coefficient decreases by 0.6%. The ice flakes on the inner and outer lip, when shed and brake by collision with the center body, will cause damage to the engine duct. The shedding and breaking of ice flake at an angle of 150° to the lip can result in a large amount of ice flake debris entering the engine duct, threatening the performance and structure of the engine in the rear. The motion characteristics of hailstone and ice flake under helicopter fuselage/rotor/inlet integration conditions are revealed. It also provides a reference on the numerical methods for the numerical study of hailstone/ice flake exclusion characteristics of helicopter fuselage/rotor/inlet integration conditions. In the vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) state of tiltrotor aircraft, the inlet entrance encounters the incoming airflow at a 90° attack angle, resulting in highly complex internal flow characteristics that are extremely susceptible to gusts. Meanwhile, the flow quality at the inlet exit directly affects the performance of the aircraft's engine. This work made use of an unsteady numerical simulation method based on sliding meshes to investigate the internal flow characteristics of the inlet during the hover state of a typical tiltrotor aircraft and the effects of head-on gusts on the inlet's aerodynamic characteristics. The results show that during the hover state, the tiltrotor aircraft inlet features three pairs of transverse vortices and one streamwise vortex at the aerodynamic interface plane (AIP). The transverse vortices generated due to the rotational motion of the air have the largest scale and exert the strongest influence on the inlet's performance, which is characterized by pronounced unsteady features. Additionally, strong unsteady characteristics are present within the inlet. Head-on gusts mainly affect the mechanical energy and non-uniformity of the air sucked into the inlet by influencing the direction of the rotor's induced slipstream, thereby impacting the performance of the inlet. The larger head-on gusts have beneficial effects on the performance of the inlet. When the gust velocity reaches 12 m/s, there is a 1.01% increase in the total pressure recovery (σ) of the inlet, a 25.72% decrease in the circumferential distortion index (DC60), and a reduction of 62.84% in the area where the swirl angle |α| exceeds 15°. Conversely, when the gust velocity of head-on gusts reaches 12 m/s in the opposite direction, the inlet's total pressure recovery decreases by 1.13%, the circumferential distortion index increases by 14.57%, and the area where the swirl angle exceeds 15° increases by 69.59%, adversely affecting the performance of the inlet. To uncover the underlying fluid mechanisms, it is crucial to explore imaging techniques for high-resolution and large-scale three-dimensional (3D) measurements of the flow field. Plenoptic background-oriented schlieren (Plenoptic BOS), an emerging volumetric method in recent years, has demonstrated being able to resolve volumetric flow dynamics with a single plenoptic camera. The focus-stack-based plenoptic BOS system can qualitatively infer the position of the density gradient in 3D space based on the relative sharpness of the refocused BOS image. Plenoptic BOS systems based on tomography or specular enhancement techniques are realized for use in high-fidelity 3D flow measurements due to the increased number of acquisition views. Here, we first review the fundamentals of plenoptic BOS, and then discuss the system configuration and typical application of single-view and multi-view plenoptic BOS. In this paper, a novel small-scale gust generator research facility was designed and examined for generating Sears-type gusts. The design scheme, integration with the wind tunnel, experiment and validation of its capability are presented in detail. To help design the gust generator and validate the experimental results of the flow field characteristics generated by the developed gust generator, two numerical simulation methods, the field velocity method (FVM) and oscillating vane method (OVM), were utilized to detect the impacts of the geometrical parameters of the oscillating vanes and the downstream test model. The filtered experimental measurement results agree well with the numerical data, validating the capability of the developed gust generator to produce sinusoidal gusts. However, it should be noted that necessary measures are needed to prevent mechanical noise from interfering with the gusty flow field, which will be a focus of future research. In this paper, a novel flow perturbation model meant to investigate the effects of incoming wind shear on a hypersonic inlet/isolator is presented. This research focuses on the transient shock/boundary layer interaction and shock train flow evolution in a hypersonic inlet/isolator with an on-design Mach number of 6.0 under incoming wind shear at high altitudes, precisely at an altitude of 30 km with a magnitude speed of 80 m/s. Despite the low intensity of wind shear at high altitudes, the results reveal that wind shear significantly disrupts the inlet/isolator flowfield, affecting the shock wave/boundary layer interaction in the unthrottled state, which drives the separation bubble at the throat to move downstream and then upstream. Moreover, the flowfield behaves as a hysteresis phenomenon under the effect of wind shear, and the total pressure recovery coefficients at the throat and exit of the inlet/isolator increase by approximately 10% to 12%. Furthermore, this research focuses on investigating the impact of wind shear on the behavior of the shock train. Once the inlet/isolator is in a throttled state, wind shear severely impacts the motion of the shock train. When the downstream backpressure is 135 times the incoming pressure (p0), the shock train first moves upstream and gradually couples with a cowl shock wave/boundary layer interaction, resulting in a more significant separation at the throat, and then moves downstream and decouples from the separation bubble at the throat. However, if the downstream backpressure increases to 140 p0, the shock train enlarges the separation bubble, forcing the inlet/isolator to fall into the unstart state, and it cannot be restarted. A shock wave/boundary layer interaction (SWBLI) is a common phenomenon in supersonic inlet flow, which can significantly degrade the aerodynamic performance of the inlet by inducing boundary layer separation. To address this issue, in this paper, we propose the use of a dynamic vortex generator to control the SWBLI in a typical supersonic inlet. The unsteady simulation method based on dynamic grid technology was employed to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method of control and investigate its mechanism. The results showed that, in a duct of finite width at the inlet, the SWBLI generated complex three-dimensional (3D) flow structures with remarkable swirling properties. At the same time, vortex pairs were generated close to the side wall as a result of its presence, and this led to the intensification of transverse flow and, in turn, the formation of a complex 3D structure of the flow of the separation bubble. The dynamic vortex generator induced oscillations of variable intensity in the vortex system in the supersonic boundary layer that enhanced the mixing between the boundary layer flow and the mainstream. Meanwhile, the unique effects of "extrusion" and "suction" in the oscillation process continued to charge the airflow, and the distribution of velocity in the boundary layer significantly improved. As the oscillation frequency of the vortex generator increased, its charging effect on low-velocity flow in the boundary layer increased, and its control effect on the flow field of the SWBLI became more pronounced. The proposed method of control reduced the length of the separation bubble by 31.76% and increased the total pressure recovery coefficient at the inlet by 6.4% compared to the values in the absence of control. In this study, the length scaling for the boundary layer separation induced by two incident shock waves is experimentally and analytically investigated. The experiments are performed in a Mach 2.73 flow. A double-wedge shock generator with two deflection angles ($\alpha _1$ and $\alpha _2$) is employed to generate two incident shock waves. Two deflection angle combinations with an identical total deflection angle are adopted: ($\alpha _1 = 7^\circ$ , $\alpha _2 = 5^\circ$) and ($\alpha _1 = 5^\circ$ , $\alpha _2 = 7^\circ$). For each deflection angle combination, the flow features of the dual-incident shock wave–turbulent boundary layer interactions (dual-ISWTBLIs) under five shock wave distance conditions are examined via schlieren photography, wall-pressure measurements and surface oil-flow visualisation. The experimental results show that the separation point moves downstream with increasing shock wave distance ($d$). For the dual-ISWTBLIs exhibiting a coupling separation state, the upstream interaction length ($L_{int}$) of the separation region approximately linearly decreases with increasing $d$ , and the decrease rate of $L_{int}$ with $d$ increases with the second deflection angle under the condition of an identical total deflection angle. Based on control volume analysis of mass and momentum conservations, the relation between $L_{int}$ and $d$ is analytically determined to be approximately linear for the dual-ISWTBLIs with a coupling separation region, and the slope of the linear relation obtained analytically agrees well with that obtained experimentally. Furthermore, a prediction method for $L_{int}$ of the dual-ISWTBLIs with a coupling separation region is proposed, and the relative error of the predicted $L_{int}$ in comparison with the experimental result is $\sim$ 10 %. In this paper, the transient flow simulation in an annular isolator under rotating feedback pressure perturbations simplified from the rotating denotation wave (RDW) is performed. The instantaneous flow characteristics and the self-similarity of the isolator flow-field are investigated in detail. It is found that a helical moving shock wave (MSW) and a quasi-toroidal terminal shock wave (TSW) are induced in the isolator. Hence, the flow-fields on the meridian planes could be classified into three zones, i.e., the undisturbed zone, the terminal shock wave/moving shock wave/boundary layer interaction (TSW/MSW/BLI) zone and the moving shock wave/boundary layer interaction (MSW/BLI) zone. The TSW/MSW/BLI zone is characterized by the coupling of the TSW/BLI and the MSW/BLI due to their small axial distance, which intensifies the adverse pressure gradient on the meridian planes, thus rolling up large separation bubbles developing along the MSW driven by the circular pressure gradient. In the MSW/BLI zone, the shock induces the boundary layer to separate, forming a helical vortex located at the foot of the MSW. During the upstream propagation process, the pattern of the MSWs transforms from a moving normal shock wave to a moving oblique shock wave with decreased strength. Moreover, after the collision with the MSWs, P, Temp and S of the flow elevate with the prompt decrease of va, while vθ increases to a higher level. Despite the deflection effect of the MSWs on the streamlines, the flow direction of the air still maintains an almost axial position at the exit, except in the adjacent region of the MSW. Likewise, three types of zones can be determined in the flow pattern at the exit: the rotating detonation wave/boundary layer interaction (RDW/BLI) zone, the expansion zone, and the vortices discharge zone. Comparing the transient flow patterns at different moments in one cycle and between adjacent cycles, an interesting discovery is that the self-similarity property is observed in the flow-field of the annular isolator under rotating feedback pressure perturbations. The global flow structure of the isolator at different moments shows good agreement despite its rotation with the RDW, and the surface pressure profiles of the corresponding meridian planes all match perfectly. Such a characteristic indicates that the rotation angular velocity of the TSW and the MSW are equal and hold invariant, and the isolator flow could be regarded as a quasi-steady flow. On this basis, the theoretical model of the inclination angles of the MSW by the coordinate transformation and velocity decomposition is developed and validated. The relative errors of the inclination angles between the predicted and measured results are below 3%, which offers a rapid method to predict the shape of the MSW, along with a perspective to better understand the physical meaning of the shape of the MSW. Gust is a common atmospheric turbulence phenomenon encountered by aircraft and is one major cause of several undesired instability problems. Although the response of aircraft to the incoming gust has been widely investigated within the subject of external-flow aerodynamics in the past decades, little attention is paid to its effects on the internal flow within aircraft engines. In this paper, a newly implemented Field Velocity Method (FVM) in OpenFOAM is used to simulate the flow field and aerodynamic responses of a serpentine inlet exposed to non-stationary horizontal sinusoidal gusts. Validations are performed on the results obtained based on the baseline Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) solver and the gust modeling method. Finally, the flow field and aerodynamic characteristics of the serpentine inlet under horizontal sinusoidal gust conditions are comprehensively investigated. It is found that the gusts not only significantly change the flow structure but also play an unfavorable role in the total pressure distortion of the serpentine inlet. In this study, a solver coupling the level-set and volume-of-fluid methods is developed for interface computation of incompressible two-phase flows on the OpenFOAM platform. It corrects the surface tension, density, and viscosity of the fluids with the level-set function synchronously. To examine the effect of density and viscosity corrections, an intermediate solver that only corrects the surface tension force is also developed. Two test cases, that is, a bubble rising freely in stagnant water and a drop impacting on a liquid surface, are performed to validate and compare the capabilities of the new solvers. It is found that the coupling solver which corrects all the fluids' properties mentioned above has the best prediction accuracy, especially for Rayleigh jet issues. In this study, an atmospheric‐pressure nanosecond impulse discharge initiated above the pyrrole microemulsion surface is applied to polymerize pyrrole and obtain a polypyrrole film. The films obtained under different number of plasma discharge times and duration of argon gas input time are investigated using a field emission scanning electron microscope. Results show that the roughness and thickness of the polypyrrole film can be tuned by controlling discharge times and the gas feed time. Four‐point sheet resistance measurements of the films reflect that those with a smoother and more complete surface have better electrical conductivity. The films are identified as polypyrrole by Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy, X‐ray diffraction, and X‐ray photoelectron spectrometry. Also, N2 is a critical factor in polymerizing polypyrrole and the gas–liquid plasma polymerization mechanism, which has three steps, is discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A simple, scalable approach is developed to fabricate a flexible hybrid paper electrode composed of the polyaniline/graphene and the carbon fiber (CF)-reinforced bacterial cellulose. The prepared hybrid paper presents high areal capacitance of 4.145 F cm−2 at 5 mA cm−2 and an extremely low sheet resistance of 29.7 Ω sq.−1. The CF endows the paper electrode remarkable foldability with no mechanical destruction. Even after being repeatedly bent 180° up to 1000 times, the initial capacitance can be retained up to 98%. A fabricated all-solid-state supercapacitor based on the resulting paper electrode has an excellent areal capacitance of 630 mF cm−2 and energy density of 2.8 mWh cm−3. Enriching natural 10 g/100 g β-carotene concentrate further is both meaningful and challenging issue. In this paper, a two-step technique has been reported to boost the concentration of natural β-carotene. Supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO 2 ) was utilized to preconcentrate 10 g/100 g β-carotene made from crude palm oil followed with a solvent extraction. In the first step, the β-carotene concentration was preconcentrated to 16.7 g/100 g from 10 g/100 g when pretreating conditions were as follows: extraction temperature 60 °C, extraction pressure 20 MPa, extraction time 3 h, and CO 2 flow rate 22 kg/h, In the second step, the β-carotene was boosted to 58.7 g/100 g from 16.7 g/100 g when the ratio of the preconcentrated sample and n-hexane solvent was 4:200 (g:mL), and the processing temperature was −5 °C. This is attributed to that SC-CO 2 was able selectively to remove the impurities such as oil fraction. Removing impurities enable further purification of the beta-carotene with hexane extraction. The pretreatment of removing oil fraction using supercritical (SC-CO 2 ) plays a vital role in the enrichment of β-carotene from 10 g/100 g β-carotene concentrates to higher content. Due to the failure of traditional oscillation mechanism based on an acoustic wave feedback loop and the supersonic spillage at the duct entrance, the unstart flow pattern of hypersonic inlets is quite different from that of traditional supersonic inlets. What's more, the hypersonic inlet unstart is more harmful, more closely coupled with the combustor, and has more demand for real-time control. Therefore, it should be drawn more attention in the development of hypersonic technology. In this paper, the main progress of the hypersonic inlet unstart is reviewed from its characteristics, classification, detection and control methods. In order to operate efficiently in various operating conditions, a turbine-based combined cycle engine (TBCC) variable nozzle is proposed to adjust the area of the nozzle throat and the exit simultaneously. The performances of the nozzle at static condition and at different freestream Mach numbers are analyzed. Results show that the design has a preferable static performance and the thrust ratios are 0. 90, 0. 97 and 0. 98 in typical states. After the introduction of the external flow, the freestream can suppress the overexpansion of the exhaust flow effectively at the low Mach number condition (Ma = 0. 8), so the thrust coefficient is enhanced by 6.7%. In the high Mach number conditions (Ma = 2. 8,4. 0), though the flow pattern of the nozzle downstream is apparently affected by the external flow, the pressure distribution of the central body and the internal flow path is hardly affected. It is highly desirable to develop industrially scalable methods to produce defect-free graphene to meet the requirement of graphene from lab to commercial applications. In this paper, a ball-milling in series with a shear-mixing exfoliation technique in supercritical CO 2 was developed. Graphite was pretreated by ball-milling in supercritical CO 2 , and the exfoliated sheets with smaller lateral sizes and numerous crevices on their edges were elutriated into a shear-mixing vessel by supercritical CO 2 simultaneously to inhibit over crushing. Whereafter, the freshly exfoliated sheets with crevices were further exfoliated into few-layer graphene without aggregation. 90% of the obtained graphene was less than five layers, and the processing capacity of 40 g for one batch increased 40–100 times compared with the previously reported method. The electrical conductivity of 3.25 × 105 S/m of the flexible graphene film on PVDF substrate demonstrates the excellent electrical performance of the obtained graphene. Au nanoparticles (NPs) possess unique physicochemical and optical properties, showing great potential in biomedical applications. Diagnostic spectroscopy utilizing varied Au NPs has become a precision tool of in vitro and in vivo diagnostic for cancer and other specific diseases. In this review, we tried to comprehensively introduce the remarkable optical properties of Au NPs, including localized surfaces plasmon resonance (LSPR), surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS), and metal-enhanced fluorescence (MEF). Then, we highlighted the excellent works using Au NPs for optical diagnostic applications. Ultimately, the challenges and future perspective of using Au NPs for optical diagnostic were discussed.
