The design, synthesis and optical properties of glycinyl-urea functionalized conjugated oligo(p-phenylene vinylene) guests that bind to adamantyl urea modified dendritic hosts are presented. Guests comprising of urea glycine moiety are bound very strongly.

Abstract

A new category of porphyrin array was synthesized through the coupling of six porphyrin moieties to a central benzene core via an ether linkage. The porphyrin supermolecule product has a diameter up to 80 angstroms and a mass of 8.5 kD. In solution, the six porphyrins surrounding the central benzene ring arrange themselves into three groups of offset overlapping dimers, which are rapidly interconverting at room temperature.

Abstract

Atomistic models based on quantum-chemical calculations are combined with time-resolved spectroscopic investigations to explore the migration of electronic excitations along oligophenylenevinylene-based chiral stacks. It is found that the usual Pauli master equation (PME) approach relying on uncoherent transport between individual chromophores underestimates the excitation diffusion dynamics, monitored by the time decay of the transient polarization anisotropy.

Abstract

Results concerning the structural organization of sexithiophenes carrying respectively chiral (2S)-2-methyl-3, 6, 9, 12, 15-pentaoxahexadecyl and 3, 6, 9, 12, 15-pentaoxahexadecyl esters at both the terminal alpha positions of the sexithiophene unit are reported. The beginnings of an insight into mixed aggregation prior to crystallization are found.
