[PHYS.NUCL]Physics [physics]/Nuclear Theory [nucl-th] - Abstract
Expérience GANIL/LISE2000; International audience; The decays of two isomeric states in the neutron-rich nucleus Cu75 have been studied via delayed γ-ray spectroscopy. These states were populated by the fragmentation of a 60.4AMeV Kr86 primary beam, which impinged on a Be target at the LISE2k spectrometer of GANIL. Isomeric half-lives and branching ratios were measured, and a γ−γ coincidence analysis performed. These have allowed a revised level scheme of Cu75 to be proposed. A comparison with large-scale shell-model calculations using different effective interactions and valence spaces shows the importance of proton excitations across the Z=28 shell gap for reproducing the energy spacing between the isomeric states. The coexisting collective and single-particle properties of the (1/2−) and (3/2−) states, respectively, are similar to those of the same states in the neighboring Cu69,71,73. The small energy spacings between the (1/2−), (3/2−), and 5/2− states are responsible for the isomerism.

Expérience GANIL/CSS1/VAMOS; We report on the first application of in-flight fast-timingmeasurements, a method developed in order to directly measure lifetimes in the picosecond to nanosecond range. As a proof of principle of the method, lifetimes of the states belonging to the ground-state band in 152Sm are measured up to the 8+ 1 state. An excellent agreement with recommended values is found. A slightly improved determination of the spectroscopic quadrupole moment of the 4+ 1 state is also reported. In-flight fast-timing measurements open interesting opportunities for future studies of collective properties in radioactive nuclei.

Expérience GANIL/LISE2000; International audience; We present the results of an experiment in which the structure of neutron-rich nuclei located in the vicinity of N = 40 was studied. The importance of our results comes from the fact that knowing the behaviour of the neutron g9=2 orbital with increasing neutron number is one of the key points in defining the structure of these nuclei at low excitation energy. Preliminary results on the isomers of 75Cu will be presented together with tentative spin and parity assignments.

Generation of particle beams with high intensity lasers opens new domains of investigation both for fundamental and applied research. These beams are often characterized by means of radiochromic films (RCF) 1,2,3 which provide information both on their energy and spatial distributions. However the optical response function of these films for protons depends on their precise composition and is not well known making it difficult to extract absolute information on the number of particles contained in the beam. Proton induced nuclear reactions in RCF produce radioactive elements. The analysis of these activities allows to determine in a completely independent way the energy distribution of the proton beams 4,5. With the Monte Carlo simulation code Geant4, we have established the nuclear activation response function for different stacks of RCF films or RCF films and copper foils. We will present our method making use of the optical and nuclear activation responses of RCF and discuss the results obtained in the analysis of proton beams generated with the LULI 100 TW laser.

We report on the first application of in-flight fast-timing measurements, a method developed in order to directly measure lifetimes in the picosecond to nanosecond range. As a proof of principle of the method, lifetimes of the states belonging to the ground-state band in l52Sm are measured up to the 81+ state. An excellent agreement with recommended values is found. A slightly improved determination of the spectroscopic quadrupole moment of the 41+ state is also reported. In-flight fast-timing measurements open interesting opportunities for future studies of collective properties in radioactive nuclei. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We present the results of an experiment in which the structure of neutron-rich nuclei located in the vicinity of N = 40 was studied. The importance of our results comes from the fact that knowing the behaviour of the neutron g
9/2 orbital with increasing neutron number is one of the key points in defining the structure of these nuclei at low excitation energy. Preliminary results on the isomers of75 Cu will be presented together with tentative spin and parity assignments. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published

We present a stand-alone system to characterize the high-energy particles emitted in the interaction of ultrahigh intensity laser pulses with matter. According to the laser and target characteristics, electrons or protons are produced with energies higher than a few mega electron volts. Selected material samples can, therefore, be activated via nuclear reactions. A multidetector, named NATALIE, has been developed to count the β+ activity of these irradiated samples. The coincidence technique used, designed in an integrated system, results in very low background in the data, which is required for low activity measurements. It, therefore, allows a good precision on the nuclear activation yields of the produced radionuclides. The system allows high counting rates and online correction of the dead time. It also provides, online, a quick control of the experiment. Geant4 simulations are used at different steps of the data analysis to deduce, from the measured activities, the energy and angular distributions of the laser-induced particle beams. Two applications are presented to illustrate the characterization of electrons and protons. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The half-lives of
38 Ca and39 Ca have been measured at ISOLDE of CERN. The REXTRAP facility was used to prepare ultra-clean samples of radioactive nuclei for precision decay spectroscopy.38 Ca is one of the Tz = - 1 , 0+ $ \rightarrow$ 0+ $ \beta$ -emitting nuclides used to determine the vector coupling constant of the weak interaction and the Vud quark-mixing matrix element. The result obtained, T1/2 = 443.8(19) ms, is four times more precise than the average of previous measurements. For39 Ca , a half-life of T1/2 = 860.7(10) ms is obtained, a result in agreement with the average value from the literature. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published

METASTABLE states , *BRANCHING ratios , *COPPER compounds - Abstract
The decays of two isomeric states in the neutron-rich nucleus 75Cu have been studied via delayed γ-ray spectroscopy. These states were populated by the fragmentation of a 60.4AMeV 86Kr primary beam, which impinged on a Be target at the LISE2k spectrometer of GANIL. Isomeric half-lives and branching ratios were measured, and a γ-γ coincidence analysis performed. These have allowed a revised level scheme of 75Cu to be proposed. A comparison with large-scale shell-model calculations using different effective interactions and valence spaces shows the importance of proton excitations across the Z=28 shell gap for reproducing the energy spacing between the isomeric states. The coexisting collective and single-particle properties of the (1/2-) and (3/2-) states, respectively, are similar to those of the same states in the neighboring 69,71,73Cu. The small energy spacings between the (1/2-), (3/2-), and 5/2- states are responsible for the isomerism. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
