ABSTRACT Objective: Verify the clinical efficacy and safety of a low-cost tDCS device, in a clinical trial for major depressive disorder. Methods: 168 persons were recruited; 32 depressed individuals with moderate or severe depressive symptoms (HDRS17 scores higher than 18) were included and randomized for the trial (16 individuals in each group). The intervention consisted of 10 active anodal tDCS sessions at 2 mA for 30 minutes over the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex; or sham. The main outcome was HDRS17; secondary outcomes included satisfaction (TSQM II) and quality of life (WHOQOL-BREF). Assessments at baseline, endpoint and at 30 days follow-up. Results: The sample was composed by a total of 11 men and 21 women, mean age of 42.75 years (95% CI: 38.10-47.40). Active treatment was superior than sham: There was a significant interaction between group and time regarding HDRS-17 scores (F = 4.089, df = 2, p = 0.029; partial Eta squared = 0. 239). Post hoc analyses exhibited a statistically significant difference between active and sham group symptoms after a 30 days follow-up (difference = -7.75, p = 0.008, Cohen’s d = 1.069). There were 3 dropouts, all in the active group, due schedule issues. No severe adverse effects reported. Conclusion: The current active tDCS protocol was related with clinical improvement of depressive symptoms. Intervention was well-tolerated. Non-invasive brain stimulation techniques are still not routinely used, although a viable strategy for treatment-resistant patients, partial responders and people unable to use pharmacological treatment. We aim to increase knowledge and use of tDCS for the Brazilian population.

A cardiac lesion detected at ultrasonography might turn out to be a normal structure, a benign tumor or rarely a malignancy, and lesion characterization is very important to appropriately manage the lesion itself. The exact relationship of the mass with coronary arteries and the knowledge of possible concomitant coronary artery disease are necessary preoperative information. Moreover, the increasingly performed coronary CT angiography to evaluate non-invasively coronary artery disease leads to a rising number of incidental findings. Therefore, CT and MRI are frequently performed imaging modalities when echocardiography is deemed insufficient to evaluate a lesion. A brief comprehensive overview about diagnostic radiological imaging and the clinical background of cardiac masses and pseudomasses is reported.

We introduce ologisms. They generate from ologs by extending their logical expressivity, from the possibility of considering constraints of equational nature only to the possibility of considering constraints of syllogistic nature, in addition. This is obtained by taking advantage of the peculiar features of an original diagrammatic logical calculus for the syllogistic, that make it well-behaved with respect to the design of ologs.

Such as differential correction systems, which are essential for the accuracy of the parallelism of vehicle guidance systems as for the quality of the seeding operation. Therefore, the objective of this work was to evaluate the accuracy of the autopilot - guided passes under RTK differential and geostationary satellite systems involved in pneumatic and mechanical sowing of corn; as well as to analyze the quality of the sowing operation using the plant stand as indicator. Two treatments were analyzed: autopilot RTK (Real Time Kinematic) and geostationary satellites, used in sowing operations. The evaluations were carried out under field. The use of autopilot with RTK differential correction in corn sowing operations offers greater accuracy between passes than that obtained with satellite correction. As to the quality of the sowing operation, the pneumatics show a better regularity in the distribution of corn seeds.

- Abstract
Structural colors arise from selective light interaction with (nano)structures, which give them advantages over pigmented colors such as resistance to fading and possibility to be fabricated out of traditional low-cost and non-toxic materials. Since the color arises from the photonic (nano)structures, different structural features can impact their photonic response and thus, their color. Therefore, the detailed characterization of their structural features is crucial for further improvement of structural colors. In this work, we present a detailed multi-scale structural characterization of ceramic-based photonic glasses by using a combination of high-resolution ptychographic X-ray computed tomography and small angle X-ray scattering. Our results uncover the structure-processing-properties’ relationships of such nanoparticles-based photonic glasses and point out to the need of a review of the structural features used in simulation models concomitantly with the need for further investigations by experimentalists, where we point out exactly which structural features need to be improved.

- Abstract
The use of solar energy for photocatalysis holds great potential for sustainable pollution reduction. Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is a benchmark material, effective under ultraviolet light but limited in visible light utilization, restricting its application in solar-driven photocatalysis. Previous studies have shown that semiconductor heterojunctions and nanostructuring can broaden the TiO2’s photocatalytic spectral range. Semiconductor heterojunctions are interfaces formed between two different semiconductor materials that can be engineered. Especially, type II heterojunctions facilitate charge separation, and they can be obtained by combining TiO2 with, for example, iron(III) oxide (Fe2O3). Nanostructuring in the form of 3D inverse opals (IOs) demonstrated increased TiO2 light absorption efficiency of the material, by tailoring light-matter interactions through their photonic crystal structure and specifically their photonic stopband, which can give rise to a slow photon effect. Such effect is hypothesized to enhance the generation of free charges. This work focuses on the above-described effects simultaneously, through the synthesis of TiO2-Fe2O3 IOs via multilayer atomic layer deposition (ALD) and the characterization of their photocatalytic activities. Our results reveal that the complete functionalization of TiO2 IOs with Fe2O3 increases the photocatalytic activity through the slow photon effect and semiconductor heterojunction formation. We systematically explore the influence of Fe2O3 thickness on photocatalytic performance, and a maximum photocatalytic rate constant of 1.38 ± 0.09 h-1 is observed for a 252 nm template TiO2-Fe2O3 bilayer IO consisting of 16 nm TiO2 and 2 nm Fe2O3. Further tailoring the performance by overcoating with additional TiO2 layers enhances photoinduced crystallization and tunes photocatalytic properties. These findings highlight the potential of TiO2-Fe2O3 IOs for efficient water pollutant removal and the importance of precise nanostru

- Abstract
Structural colors offer a myriad of advantages over conventional pigment-based colors, which often rely on toxic chemical substances that are prone to UV degradation. To take advantage of these benefits in demanding environments, there is growing interest in producing structural colors from ceramics. Polymer-derived ceramics (PDCs) emerge as a compelling choice, presenting two distinct advantages: their enhanced shape ability in their polymeric state associated with impressive temperature resistance once converted to ceramics. This study pioneers the fabrication of noniridescent structural colors from silicon oxycarbide (SiOC) PDC, enabled by the nanostructuring of an inverse photonic glass within the PDC material. This design, a functionally graded material with an inverse photonic glass (FGM-PhG) structure, leverages the innate light-absorbing properties of SiOC, yielding a vivid structural color that maintains its saturation even in white surroundings. This study elucidates the process−structure−properties relationship for the obtained structural colors by investigating each layer of the functionally graded material(FGM) in a stepwise coating deposition process. To further emphasize the exceptional processing flexibility of PDCs, the three-step process is later transferred to an additive manufacturing approach. Finally, the FGM-PhG structural colors are demonstrated to have remarkable thermal stability up to 1000 °C for 100 h, possibly making them the most thermally stable ceramic structural colors to date.

We present a reading of the traditional syllogistics in a fragment of the propositional intuitionistic multiplicative linear logic and prove that with respect to a diagrammatic logical calculus that we introduced in a previous paper, a syllogism is provable in such a fragment if and only if it is diagrammatically provable. We extend this result to syllogistics with complemented terms \`a la De Morgan, with respect to a suitable extension of the diagrammatic reasoning system for the traditional case and a corresponding reading of such De Morgan style syllogistics in the previously referred to fragment of linear logic.

Aims: Left ventricular global longitudinal strain (GLS) by cardiac magnetic resonance feature tracking (CMR-FT) analysis has shown an incremental prognostic value compared to classical parameters in non-ischemic dilated cardiomyopathy (NICM). However, less is known about the role of right ventricular (RV) GLS. Our objective was to evaluate the prognostic impact of RV-GLS by CMR-FT analysis in a population of NICM patients. Methods: In this multicenter study, we examined NICM patients evaluated with a comprehensive CMR-FT study. Major cardiac events (MACEs) were considered as the study primary outcome measure and were defined as a composite of (a) cardiovascular death, (b) cardiac transplant or destination therapy ventricular assist device, (c) hospitalization for life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias or implantable cardiac defibrillator appropriate intervention. Heart failure (HF) related events, including hospitalizations and life-threatening arrhythmia-related events were considered as secondary end-points. Receiver operating time-dependent analysis were used to calculate the possible additional effect of RV-GLS to standard evaluation. Results: We consecutively enrolled 273 patients. During a median follow-up of 39 months, 41 patients (15%) experienced MACEs. RV-GLS and LV late gadolinium emerged as the strongest prognostic CMR-FT variables: their association provided an estimated 3-year MACEs rate of 29%. The addition of RV-GLS significantly improved the prognostic accuracy in predicting MACEs with respect to the standard evaluation including LGE (areas under the curve from 0.71 [0.66–0.82] to 0.76 [0.66–0.86], p = 0.03). On competing risk analysis, RV-GLS showed a significant ability to reclassify overall both HF-related and life-threatening arrhythmia-related events, regardless of LV and RV ejection fraction. Conclusions: In NICM patients, RV-GLS showed a significant prognostic role in reclassifying the risk of MACEs, incremental with respect to standard evaluation with standard prognostic parameters.

In this work, self-lubricating composites containing MoS2 and graphite dispersed in an iron matrix were produced by powder metallurgy and sintering. Previous studies demonstrate that MoS2 reacts with iron matrixes during sintering, making the production of Fe-MoS2 composites rather difficult. Therefore, this study focused on a potential solution to avoid or reduce this reaction, whilst still providing good tribological properties. Our results show that the addition of graphite retards the reaction of MoS2 with iron and that the combination of MoS2 + graphite results in composites with an optimized coefficient of friction associated with a low wear rate both in nitrogen and air atmospheres. Through adequate control of the lubricant’s particle size, composition, and processing parameters, self-lubricating iron-based composites with a low dry coefficient of friction (0.07) and low wear rate (5 × 10−6 mm3·N−1·m−1) were achieved.

Cardiac lymphomas are rare extranodal lymphomas involving primarily and secondarily the heart and/or pericardium. Here we describe three cases of cardiac involvement from lymphoma with specific peculiarities: two primary cardiac Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphomas and one secondary involvement from Marginal Zone Lymphoma (MZL). The first case highlights the issue of early CNS relapse and the possible role for CNS prophylaxis; the second case demonstrates the difficulties of interpretation and possible mistakes of different radiologic techniques adopted to evaluate cardiac involvement by lymphoma during follow-up; the third is a unique case of MZL with cardiac involvement. Our aim is to share the findings observed in these cases putting them in relation with data from the literature.

The present article discourses about digital or electronic literature, as it is called in the United States, understood as such the literature produced specifically for the Web and not to be printed in paper. It is a literature still in search of aesthetic and technical paths, but that has already directed to certain trends, with the mix of languages and resources (image, audio, verbal text). This article aims at reflecting on this production, in order to find elements for its analysis, based on a theoretical reference that discusses concepts such as multimodality and multiliteracy, such as Red (2013), Kress (1998), Van Leeuwen (2011), Hayles (2009), Almeida (2011), Gomes (2011) and Moreira (2013) among others. As a methodology, we will specifically analyze some digital literary pieces of work, such as Dois Palitos (Two matchsticks) and 18:30 by Samir Mesquita, as well as the reference to other digital texts, notably those made available in Artery 8 Digital Magazine, with several authors, including concretist poets such as Augusto dos Campos and Arnaldo Antunes. As characteristic of Web language, that kind of artistic production is characterized by conciseness and discursive fragmentation. Strictly speaking, we are faced with hybrid texts that collaborate to establish new perspectives on the literary universe and even on today's life.

Background Typical late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) patterns in dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) include intramyocardial and subepicardial distribution. However, the ischemic pattern of LGE (subendocardial and transmural) has also been reported in DCM without coronar y arter y disease (CAD), but its correlates and prognostic significance are still not known. On these bases, this study sought to describe the prevalence and prognostic significance of the ischemic LGE pattern in DCM. Methods A total of 611 DCM patients with available cardiac magnetic resonance were retrospectively analyzed. A composite of all-cause-death, major ventricular arrhythmias (MVAs), heart transplantation (HTx) or ventricular assist device (VAD) implantation was the primary outcome of the study. Secondary outcomes were a composite of sudden cardiac death or MVAs and a composite of death for refractory heart failure, HTx or VAD implantation. Results Ischemic LGE was found in 7% of DCM patients without significant CAD or history of myocardial infarction, most commonly inferior/inferolateral/anterolateral. Compared to patients with non-ischemic LGE, those with ischemic LGE had higher prevalence of hypertension and atrial fibrillation or flutter. Ischemic LGE was associated with worse long-term outcomes compared to non-ischemic LGE (36% vs 23% risk of primary outcome events at 5 years respectively, P = .006), and remained an independent predictor of primary outcome after adjustment for clinically and statistically significant variables (adjusted hazard ratio 2.059 [1.055-4.015], P = .034 with respect to non-ischemic LGE). Conclusions The ischemic pattern of LGE is not uncommon among DCM patients without CAD and is independently associated with worse long-term outcomes. (Am Heart J 2022;246:117-124.)

Currently, the use of natural indigo dye has been treated as an alternative to overcome the environmental pollution caused by synthetic indigo. Irrespective of the indigo dye source, it must be reduced to its soluble form by using reducing agents in a suitable alkaline environment. Herein, bio‐sugars such as glucose or fructose were used for this purpose. The results revealed that when fructose was used instead of glucose, colour strength (K/S) values increased. In this work, cotton was cationised with water‐soluble chitosan. Water‐soluble chitosan in a wide pH range extends the use of chitosan in textiles, which otherwise is limited due to its poor water solubility at pH above 6.0. Colour fastness washing test was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of cotton cationisation. The performance of cationised samples was around 30% higher in comparison to non‐cationised samples. Moreover, in this article we have focused on integrating materials and design. We propose a garment, using natural indigo‐dyed cotton and a zero‐waste modelling approach, as a sustainable fashion product. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

DIAGNOSTIC imaging ,CORONARY artery disease ,CORONARY angiography ,BENIGN tumors ,CORONARY arteries - Abstract
[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Powder metallurgy is a growing sector in industrial production, as it offers outstanding energy, cost and material savings in comparison with established processing routes such as casting. Hot work toll steels are usually produced by ingot metallurgy, but also by powder metallurgy, namely hot isostatic pressing and powder forging routes. In this paper we investigate the possibility of production of a hot work tool steel (AISI H13) by conventional (die compaction and pressureless sintering) and metal injection molding routes, aiming to reduce cost and production time. The sintering behavior was studied from 1250 °C until 1430 °C and the resulting parts were compared in terms of microstructure, hardness and tensile strength. The results showed that both shaping routes together with pressureless sintering are suitable to produce this alloy. By combining the best shaping approach and a tailored sintering cycle, it was possible to produce samples with 400 HV10 as well as tensile strength of 1 GPa, which are comparable to the ones obtained by powder forging.

ABSTRACT Objective: The objective of this study was to analyze and compare the effectiveness of two types of abduction orthotics used for the feet, the Denis-Browne type (traditional) and the Dobbs type (dynamic), with regard to maintenance of deformity correction and prevention of recurrence . Method: In this comparative retrospective case study, information was collected from the medical records of children with idiopathic congenital clubfoot (CCF). We evaluated a total of 43 feet in 28 patients, which were divided into two groups. Group 1 was comprised of 16 patients with a total of 24 CCFs treated with the traditional orthotic device. Group 2 consisted of 12 patients with a total of 19 CCFs treated with the dynamic orthotic device. The statistical analysis used the ANOVA test to compare the categorical variables between the groups. A significance level of 5% was adopted (p-value≤0.05) . Results: In Group 1, recurrence was observed in 2 feet (8.33%), and in 1 foot in Group 2 (5.26%). No significant difference in effectiveness was seen between the two types of orthotic devices . Conclusion: Both abduction devices were seen to be effective in maintaining correction of congenital clubfoot deformities. There was no statistical significance between type of orthotic device and recurrence. Level of Evidence III, Retrospective Comparative Study.
