A tenet of special relativity is that no particle can exceed the speed of light. In certain magnetic materials, the maximum magnon group velocity serves as an analogous relativistic limit for the speed of magnetic solitons. Here, we drive domain walls to this limit in a low-dissipation magnetic insulator using pure spin currents from the spin Hall effect. We achieve record current-driven velocities in excess of 4300 meters per second-within -10% of the relativistic limit-and we observe key signatures of relativistic motion associated with Lorentz contraction, which leads to velocity saturation. The experimental results are well explained through analytical and atomistic modeling. These observations provide critical insight into the fundamental limits of the dynamics of magnetic solitons and establish a readily accessible experimental framework to study relativistic solitonic physics.

The vertical one-handed chest compression (OHCC) technique has demonstrated superior compression power and chest compression depth (CCD) compared to conventional OHCC. This study aimed to determine if a rescuer's handedness influences the CCD during the vertical OHCC. This prospective randomized crossover simulation trial included 59 medical doctors. Each performed a 2-min single-rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a pediatric manikin using the vertical OHCC, once with the dominant hand (Test 1) and once with the non-dominant hand (Test 2). CPR parameters were recorded in real-time via sensors in the manikin, and the compression force exerted by each hand was measured using a force plate. The mean and adequate CCD did not differ significantly between Test 1 and 2 (mean depth: 52 mm (interquartile range [IQR]: 49–57) in Test 1 vs. 52 mm (IQR: 49–57) in Test 2, P = 0.625; adequate depth: 97% (IQR: 37–100) in Test 1 vs. 92% (IQR: 51–99) in Test 2, P = 0.619). The mean compression force was significantly greater in the dominant hand compared to the non-dominant hand (23.1 kg ± 4.9 in dominant hand vs. 21.7 kg ± 4.1 in non-dominant hand, P < 0.001). Other parameters showed no significant differences between Tests 1 and 2. Monolithic multi‐color light‐emitting diodes (LEDs) offer numerous advantages as multi‐functional lighting sources. However, the achievement of full‐color monolithic LEDs spanning from red to blue wavelengths is limited by the InN‐GaN material system. To overcome this limitation, this work demonstrates a new approach using hexagonal epitaxial lateral overgrowth to reduce the density of crystal defects and form micro‐surface structures. By utilizing arrowhead‐like surfaces in semipolar GaN films, indium incorporation can be controlled, leading to larger band‐filling effects and enabling full‐color red, green, and blue emissions from a single LED. Nonetheless, the red emission in monolithic full‐color LEDs is weaker than the blue emission due to the band‐filling induced blueshift that occurs with increasing current injection. To address this issue, pulse amplitude modulation and pulse width modulation modes are introduced to control the emission intensity from red to blue wavelengths. As a result, the study achieves a monolithic trichromatic white LED with color coordinates of (0.2985, 0.3948) and a color temperature of ≈6700 K by simultaneously emitting red, green, and blue LEDs with the same emission intensities. This achievement holds great promise for the development of high‐performance full‐color LEDs for multifunctional lighting sources that can span red, green, and blue wavelengths. The enhancement of long‐term memory properties in optical synaptic devices based on ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) is investigated. High‐temperature annealing improves crystal quality and carrier mobility, leading to efficient carrier generation and transport. The annealed ZnO NPs exhibit increased band edge luminescence and reduced deep‐level emission. Their larger surface grain size decreases oxygen adsorption, resulting in enhanced desorption by photoexcited carriers during UV exposure. The annealed devices show higher excitatory postsynaptic currents (EPSCs) and slower decay rates after UV termination, indicating better long‐term memory. They also demonstrate accelerated learning processes with fewer pulse cycles required to reach 100% EPSC. Overall, this research highlights the significance of high‐temperature annealing for improving long‐term memory in ZnO NP‐based optical synaptic devices, offering insights for advanced memory devices. In this study, the electrical characteristics and electrical coupling effect for monolithic 3-dimensional nonvolatile memory consisting of a feedback field-effect transistor (M3D-NVM-FBFET) were investigated using technology computer-aided design. The M3D-NVM-FBFET consists of an N-type FBFET with an oxide–nitride–oxide layer and a metal–oxide–semiconductor FET (MOSFET) in the top and bottom tiers, respectively. For the memory simulation, the programming and erasing voltages were applied at 18 and −18 V for 1 μs, respectively. The memory window of the M3D-NVM-FBFET was 1.98 V. As the retention simulation was conducted for 10 years, the memory window decreased from 1.98 to 0.83 V. For the M3D-NVM-FBFET, the electrical coupling that occurs through an electrical signal in the bottom-tier transistor was investigated. As the thickness of the interlayer dielectric (TILD) decreases from 100 to 10 nm, the change in the VTH increases from 0.16 to 0.87 V and from 0.15 to 0.84 V after the programming and erasing operations, respectively. The objective of this study was to prepare an angiotensin I-converting enzyme (ACE)-inhibitory peptide from the hydrothermal vent mussel, Gigantidas vrijenhoeki. The G. vrijenhoeki protein was hydrolyzed by various hydrolytic enzymes. The peptic hydrolysate exhibited the highest ACE-inhibitory activity and was fractionated into four molecular weight ranges by ultrafiltration. The <1 kDa fraction exhibited the highest ACE inhibitory activity and was found to have 11 peptide sequences. Among the analyzed peptides, KLLWNGKM exhibited stronger ACE inhibitory activity and an IC50 value of 0.007 μM. To investigate the ACE-inhibitory activity of the analyzed peptides, a molecular docking study was performed. KLLWNGKM exhibited the highest binding energy (−1317.01 kcal/mol), which was mainly attributed to the formation of hydrogen bonds with the ACE active pockets, zinc-binding motif, and zinc ion. These results indicate that G. vrijenhoeki-derived peptides can serve as nutritional and pharmacological candidates for controlling blood pressure. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

To address the increasing demand for multicolor light-emitting diodes (LEDs), a monolithic multicolor LED with a simple process and high reliability is desirable. In this study, organic–inorganic hybrid LEDs with violet and green wavelengths were fabricated by depositing CsPbBr3 perovskite green quantum dots (QDs) as the light-converting material on InGaN-based violet LEDs. As the injection current was increased, the total electroluminescence (EL) intensities of the hybrid LEDs increased, whereas the light-converted green emission efficiency of the CsPbBr3 QDs decreased. The maximum green-to-violet EL spectral intensity ratio of the hybrid LEDs with CsPbBr3 QDs was achieved with the injection current of <10 mA. Moreover, the EL spectral ratio of the green-to-violet emission decreased at an injection current of 100 mA. The light-conversion intensity of the CsPbBr3 QDs decreased linearly as the junction temperature of the hybrid LEDs was increased with increasing injection current, similar to the temperature-dependent photoluminescence degradation of CsPbBr3 QDs. In addition, the junction temperature of the hybrid LED was minimized by pulse injection to suppress the thermal degradation of QDs and increase the light conversion efficiency to green emission. Therefore, the overall emission spectrum color coordinates of the hybrid LEDs exhibited a red shift from violet to blue in the low-current region and a blue shift toward violet as the green emission of the QDs was decreased above 10 mA. A paper‐based supercapacitor (SC) is a promising flexible energy storage device for wearable electronics. Paper is an alternative flexible substrate to conventional substrates such as metal foil or plastics. Paper's porous structure can be applied as a large surface area of electrode to store more charge. Paper can also be used as a separator between each electrode. We propose a simple method for vertically integrating a multi‐pair of interdigital electrodes within only a single sheet of paper. The integrated multi‐electrodes were fully separated because of a removable wax barrier. The integrated multi‐pair interdigital electrodes in a paper were used as ultra‐thin SCs combined in parallel. With an inner space of paper, the device volume can be reduced with high energy density while preserving flexibility. A monolithic three-dimensional integrated static random access memory containing a feedback field effect transistor (M3D-FBFET-SRAM) was proposed. The M3D-FBFET-SRAM cell consists of one metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor (MOSFET) and one FBFET, and each transistor is located on the top tier and one on the bottom tier in a monolithic 3D integration, respectively. The electrical characteristics and operation of the NFBFET in the M3D-FBFET-SRAM cell were investigated using a TCAD simulator. For SRAM operation, the optimum doping profile of the NFBFET was used for non-turn-off characteristics. For the M3D-FBFET-SRAM cell, the operation of the SRAM and electrical coupling occurring between the top and bottom tier transistor were investigated. As the thickness of interlayer dielectric decreases, the reading 'ON' current decreases. To prevent performance degradation, two ways to compensate for current level were suggested. Objective: The posture of the rescuer while performing the one-handed chest compression (OHCC) has not yet been evaluated. This study aimed to investigate the effect of vertical compression during pediatric cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) using the OHCC technique.Methods: This was a prospective randomized crossover simulation trial. A total of 42 medical doctors conducted a 2-min single-rescuer CPR using the conventional OHCC (Test 1) or vertical OHCC (Test 2) technique on a pediatric manikin. The chest compression and ventilation parameters were measured in real time during the experiments using sensors embedded in the manikin. In addition, the compression force of each technique was measured using a force plate.Results: The average and adequate chest compression depth (CCD) were significantly higher in Test 2 than in Test 1 (average depth: 54.0 mm (interquartile range [IQR]: 48.5-56.0) in Test 2 vs. 49.0 mm (IQR: 40.0-54.0) in Test 1, P < 0.001; adequate depth: 99.0% (IQR: 36.3-100.0) in Test 2 vs. 52.0% (IQR: 0.0-98.0) in Test 1, P < 0.001). The average force of compression was also significantly higher in vertical OHCC than that in conventional OHCC (25.7 kg ± 4.4 in vertical OHCC vs. 24.5 kg ± 4.2 in conventional OHCC, P < 0.001). The ventilation parameters were not significantly different between Tests 1 and 2.Conclusions: The vertical OHCC could provide a deeper and more adequate CCD compared with the conventional OHCC, and the advantages of the vertical OHCC originate from the superiority of the compression force. In this paper, the tunneling effect for a N-type feedback field-effect transistor (NFBFET) was investigated. The NFBFET has highly doped N-P junction in the channel region. When drain-source voltage is applied at the NFBFET, the aligning between conduction band of N-region and valence band of P-region occur, and band-to-band tunneling (BTBT) current can be formed on surface region of N-P junction in the channel of the NFBFET. When the doping concentration of gated-channel region (Ngc) is 4 × 1018 cm−3, the tunneling current makes off-currents increase approximately 104 times. As gate-source voltage is applied to NFBFET, the tunneling rate decreases owing to reducing of aligned region between bands by stronger gate-field. Eventually, the tunneling currents are vanished at the BTBT vanishing point before threshold voltage. When Ngc increase from 4 × 1018 to 6 × 1018, the tunneling current is generated not only at the surface region but also at the bulk region. Moreover, the tunneling length is shorter at the surface and bulk regions, and hence the leakage currents more increase. The amount of CO2 dissolved in the ocean has been increasing continuously, and the results using climate change models show that the CO2 concentration of the ocean will increase by over 1000 ppm by 2100. Ocean acidification is expected to have a considerable impact on marine ecosystems. To find out about the impacts of ocean acidification on meiofaunal communities and copepod groups, we analyzed the differences in the abundance of meiofauna communities in sediment and the survival rate of harpacticoid copepod assemblages separated from the sediment, between 400 and 1000 ppm pCO2 for a short period of 5 days. In experiments with communities in sediments exposed to different pCO2 concentrations, there was no significant difference in the abundance of total meiofauna and nematodes. However, the abundance of the harpacticoid copepod community was significantly lower at 1000 ppm than that at 400 ppm pCO2. On the other hand, in experiments with assemblages of harpacticoid copepods directly exposed to seawater, there was no significant difference in their survival rates between the two concentrations. Our findings suggest that a CO2 concentration of 1000 ppm in seawater can cause changes in the abundance of specific taxa such as harpacticoid copepods among the meiofauna communities in sediments. Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effect of resuscitation guideline terminology on pediatric cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) performance.Methods: This was a prospective randomised crossover simulation trial. A total of 32 medical doctors conducted 2-min single-rescuer CPR using the one-handed chest compression technique (OHCC) or two-handed chest compression technique (THCC) on a pediatric manikin. The participants conducted chest compressions according to the chest compression depth (CCD) target of '5 cm (Test 1)' or 'at least one third of the anterior-posterior dimension of the chest (Test 2)' in a random order.Results: In both techniques (OHCC or THCC), the average CCD of Test 1 were significantly lower than those of Test 2 (OHCC: 50.0 mm [46.0-52.0 mm] in Test 1 vs. 52.0 mm [50.3-55.0 mm] in Test 2, P = 0.001; THCC: 52.0 mm [50.3-55.0 mm] in Test 1 vs. 58.0 mm [54.0-62.0 mm] in Test 2, P < 0.001). The adequacy of the chest compressions was also superior in Test 2 (OHCC: 63.0% [7.5-95.8%] in Test 1 vs. 96.5% [78.8-99.9%] in Test 2, P < 0.001; THCC: 96.5% [78.8-99.9%] in Test 1 vs. 100.0% [100.0-100.0%] in Test 2, P < 0.001). Flexible energy storage devices are of significant interest for wearable device applications. In this regard, paper, which is thin, light, flexible, and highly porous, has emerged as a next-generation energy-storage material. Here, we introduce a facile technology for fabricating a supercapacitor based on a single sheet of paper, in which the electrodes are vertically separated by the patterning of hydrophobic barriers. The positive and negative electrodes can be simultaneously sectionalized as active layers and current collectors in a single-layer porous paper supercapacitor, such that the gel electrolyte infiltrates the device without any additional assembly. The solid-state supercapacitor with vertically layered electrodes exhibits a large areal capacitance of 560.2 mF cm−2 at 0.2 mA cm−2 and stable flexibility and foldability. The maximum power and energy densities were 1.597 mW cm−2 and 28.74 μW h cm−2, respectively, which highly exceed those of previously reported multi-sheet paper-based supercapacitors. Summary: Cotton fabrics have received substantial attention as promising substrates for wearable electronics due to their large surface area and flexibility. Although the majority of studies have been devoted to fabricating electrodes utilizing cotton, the simple fabrication process of highly‐conductive metal electrodes inserted in fabrics has yet to be achieved. Herein, we demonstrate the facile, electroless deposition of Au electrodes inserted in cotton by a seed‐mediated, metal‐growth strategy. The sequencable deposition of Au was achieved by the autocatalytic reduction of Au ions with Au nanoparticle seeds which were electrostatically deposited on cotton. The deposition efficiency was significantly improved by effectively removing physisorbed silane molecules on amine‐modified cotton. The design was applied to various E‐textiles, that is, wearable heaters, and energy storage devices. The cotton‐based, wearable heater exhibited excellent Joule heating properties up to 120°C at 1 V within only 2 seconds. The wearable supercapacitor with cathode‐deposited MnO2 also demonstrated a promising, pseudo‐capacitive performance of 167.55 F g−1 at 0.3 A g−1. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The introduction of a functional interlayer between the cathode and anode in lithium–sulfur battery (LSB) technology results in significant improvements in electrochemical performance. Here, we developed hierarchically structured porous, conductive, and multifunctional N-doped carbon (N-C) nanofibers comprising homogeneously dispersed vanadium nitride quantum dots and hollow N-C nanocages as functional interlayers for advanced LSBs. The freestanding interlayer contains well-developed long-range channels and numerous interconnected hollow N-C nanocages derived from the metal–organic framework. Furthermore, the presence of a N-C framework and vanadium nitride quantum dots measuring several nanometers improves the redox reaction kinetics and provides numerous chemisorption sites for the effective trapping and reuse of lithium polysulfide. As a result, the assembled Li–S cell employing the unique nanostructured freestanding interlayer exhibits superior rate capability and stable cycling performance (decay rate of 0.02% per cycle at 0.5C) considering the high sulfur content (80 wt%) and loading (ca. 4 mg cm−2) in the sulfur electrodes. Even with an ultra-high sulfur loading of 11.0 mg cm−2, the Li–S cell delivered a stable areal capacity of 5.0 mA h cm−2 after 100 charge–discharge cycles at 0.05C. Thus, the uniquely nanostructured interlayer shows high potential for the development of advanced LSBs utilizing pure sulfur electrodes with realistic battery parameters. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim: In South Korea, the law concerning automated external defibrillators (AEDs) states that they should be installed in specific places including apartment complexes. This study was conducted to investigate the current status and effectiveness of installation and usage of AEDs in South Korea.Methods: Installation and usage of AEDs in South Korea is registered in the National Emergency Medical Center (NEMC) database. Compared were the installed number, usage, and annual rate of AED use according to places of installation. All data were obtained from the NEMC database.Results: After excluding AEDs installed in ambulances or fire engines (n = 2,003), 36,498 AEDs were registered in South Korea from 1998 through 2018. A higher number of AEDs were installed in places required by the law compared with those not required by the law (20,678 [56.7%] vs. 15,820 [43.3%]; P <.001). Among them, 11,318 (31.0%) AEDs were installed in apartment complexes. The overall annual rate of AED use was 0.38% (95% CI, 0.33-0.44). The annual rate of AED use was significantly higher in places not required by the law (0.62% [95% CI, 0.52-0.72] versus 0.21% [95% CI, 0.16-0.25]; P <.001). The annual rate of AED use in apartment complexes was 0.13% (95% CI, 0.08-0.17).Conclusion: There were significant mismatches between the number of installed AEDs and the annual rate of AED use among places. Stretchable lithium batteries have attracted considerable attention as components in future electronic devices, such as wearable devices, sensors, and body‐attachment healthcare devices. However, several challenges still exist in the bid to obtain excellent electrochemical properties for stretchable batteries. Here, a unique stretchable lithium full‐cell battery is designed using 1D nanofiber active materials, stretchable gel polymer electrolyte, and wrinkle structure electrodes. A SnO2/C nanofiber anode and a LiFePO4/C nanofiber cathode introduce meso‐ and micropores for lithium‐ion diffusion and electrolyte penetration. The stretchable full‐cell consists of an elastic poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) wrapping film, SnO2/C and LiFePO4/C nanofiber electrodes with a wrinkle structure fixed on the PDMS wrapping film by an adhesive polymer, and a gel polymer electrolyte. The specific capacity of the stretchable full‐battery is maintained at 128.3 mAh g−1 (capacity retention of 92%) even after a 30% strain, as compared with 136.8 mAh g−1 before strain. The energy densities are 458.8 Wh kg−1 in the released state and 423.4 Wh kg−1 in the stretched state (based on the electrode), respectively. Aim: This study was conducted to investigate the effect of resuscitation guideline terminology on the performance of infant cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Methods: A total of 40 intern or resident physicians conducted 2-min CPR with the two-finger technique (TFT) and two-thumb technique (TT) on a simulated infant cardiac arrest model with a 1-day interval. They were randomly assigned to Group A or B. The participants of Group A conducted CPR with the chest compression depth (CCD) target of "approximately 4 cm" and those of Group B conducted CPR with the CCD target of "at least one-third the anterior-posterior diameter of the chest". Single rescuer CPR was performed with a 15:2 compression to ventilation ratio on the floor. Results: In both chest compression techniques, the average CCD of Group B was significantly deeper than that of Group A (TFT: 41.0 [range, 39.3–42.0] mm vs. 36.5 [34.0–37.9] mm, P = 0.002; TT: 42.0 [42.0–43.0] mm vs. 37.0 [35.3–38.0] mm, P < 0.001). Adequacy of CCD also showed similar results (Group B vs. A; TFT: 99% [82–100%] vs. 29% [12–58%], P = 0.001; TT: 100% [100–100%] vs. 28% [8–53%], P < 0.001). Conclusions: Using the CCD target of "at least one-third the anterior-posterior diameter of the chest" resulted in deep and adequate chest compressions during simulated infant CPR in contrast to the CCD target of "approximately 4 cm". Therefore, changes in the terminology used in the guidelines should be considered to improve the quality of CPR. Objective: This study aimed to verify the effect of introducing a feedback device during adult and infant cardiopulmonary resuscitation training. Methods: A feedback device was introduced in the cardiopulmonary resuscitation training course of our medical school in the middle of the last semester. The cardiopulmonary resuscitation training course consisted of 2 h of instructor-led cardiopulmonary resuscitation training and 1 h of self-practice time. All students should complete the adult and infant cardiopulmonary resuscitation skill tests just after the course. Each test consisted of five cycles of single-rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation. A feedback device was introduced only in the self-practice session. The cardiopulmonary resuscitation parameters of the skill tests before (n = 40) and after (n = 39) introducing the feedback device were analysed. Results: The ratios of correct rate significantly increased after introducing the feedback device in both the skill tests (adult test: 58.5 ± 37.2 vs 85.5 ± 21.4, p = 0.001; infant test: 55.0 ± 32.4 vs 80.2 ± 20.7, p = 0.001). Although the average depths did not significantly differ between those before and after introducing the feedback device in the adult test (58.4 ± 4.0 mm vs 59.0 ± 3.7 mm, p = 0.341), it increased significantly after introducing the feedback device in the infant test (38.3 ± 4.3 mm vs 40.8 ± 1.1 mm, p = 0.001). Conclusion: Introducing a feedback device might have enhanced the accuracies of compression rate in adult and infant cardiopulmonary resuscitation training. Aim: Chest compression depth (CCD) decreases significantly when performing one-handed chest compression (OHCC). We modified OHCC posture to increase CCD as follows: first, the axis of the compression hand was adjusted to the compression area; second, the opposite hand was wrapped around the elbow of the compression arm. This study compared modified OHCC with conventional OHCC for child cardiopulmonary resuscitation.Methods: A total of 46 health-care providers performed 2 min of continuous chest compression using conventional OHCC (trial 1) and modified OHCC (trial 2) in a random order on a 5-year-old-sized child manikin lying on a bed. Chest compression parameters were assessed with an accelerometer and analysed by comparing the mean values of 30-s segments.Results: The average CCD decreased significantly in all segments in both trials (trial 1 (segments 1-4): 40.9 ± 5.6 mm, 39.4 ± 6.6 mm, 38.0 ± 6.9 mm, 36.7 ± 7.3 mm, P < 0.001; trial 2 (segments 1-4): 42.3 ± 5.4 mm, 41.2 ± 6.2 mm, 40.1 ± 6.8 mm, 39.0 ± 6.9 mm, P < 0.001). However, the average CCD in trial 2 was significantly greater in all segments than that in trial 1 (segments 1-4: P = 0.016; P = 0.009; P = 0.004; P = 0.001). The average chest compression rates were comparable in all segments in both trials.Conclusion: By modifying OHCC posture, a deeper mean CCD could be maintained for 2 min than by using conventional OHCC. Increasing demand for sodium‐ion batteries (SIBs), one of the most feasible alternatives to lithium ion batteries (LIBs), has resulted because of their high energy density, low cost, and excellent cycling stability. Consequently, the design and fabrication of suitable electrode materials that govern the overall performance of SIBs are important. Aerosol‐assisted spray processes have gained recent prominence as feasible, scalable, and cost‐effective methods for preparing electrode materials. Herein, recent advances in aerosol‐assisted spray processes for the fabrication of nanostructured metal chalcogenides (e.g., metal sulfides, selenides, and tellurides) for SIBs, with a focus on improving the electrochemical performance of metal chalcogenides, are summarized. Finally, the improvements, limitations, and direction of future research into aerosol‐assisted spray processes for the fabrication of various electrode materials are presented. A flat-type p-p light-emitting diode (LED) utilizing a local breakdown conductive channel (LBCC) in nitride semiconductor-based LEDs is introduced to replace n-p LEDs with existing mesa etched structures. The flat-type p-p LED, including the LBCC, exhibits similar light output power in the same injection current as the n-p LED of the conventional mesa structure but at a higher operating voltage. Consequently, the flat-type p-p LED with LBCC has lower wall plug efficiency compared to the mesa structured n-p LED. However, when the LED size is small, the flat-type p-p LED can achieve an optical power and operating voltage similar to the conventional n-p LED. As the LED size decreases, the n-type electrode of mesa-type n-p LED decreases to the similar size to the LBCC, providing an alternative to the operating voltage characteristics and wall plug efficiency. In addition, the junction temperature of the LED decreases as the LED size decreases. Based on these results, it is believed that the flat-type P-P LED can be advantageous for achieving high efficiency in smaller LED chips due to the smaller dry-etched mesa area which contains crystal defects that act as non-radiative recombination centers, and higher heat dissipation capacity. • Flat-type p-p LED with LBCC has been developed as an alternative to mesa n-p LED. • WPE of flat-type LED with LBCC can be improved by reducing the LED size. • The smaller flat-type P-P LED shows similar WPE to that of mesa-type n-p LED. • The junction temperature of the LED decreases as the LED size decreases.
