Abstract Background The task of writing multiple choice question examinations for medical students is complex, timely and requires significant efforts from clinical staff and faculty. Applying artificial intelligence algorithms in this field of medical education may be advisable. Methods During March to April 2023, we utilized GPT-4, an OpenAI application, to write a 210 multi choice questions-MCQs examination based on an existing exam template and thoroughly investigated the output by specialist physicians who were blinded to the source of the questions. Algorithm mistakes and inaccuracies, as identified by specialists were classified as stemming from age, gender or geographical insensitivities. Results After inputting a detailed prompt, GPT-4 produced the test rapidly and effectively. Only 1 question (0.5%) was defined as false; 15% of questions necessitated revisions. Errors in the AI-generated questions included: the use of outdated or inaccurate terminology, age-sensitive inaccuracies, gender-sensitive inaccuracies, and geographically sensitive inaccuracies. Questions that were disqualified due to flawed methodology basis included elimination-based questions and questions that did not include elements of integrating knowledge with clinical reasoning. Conclusion GPT-4 can be used as an adjunctive tool in creating multi-choice question medical examinations yet rigorous inspection by specialist physicians remains pivotal.

We study sub-micron Y3Fe5O12 (YIG) flakes that we produce via mechanical cleaving and exfoliation of YIG single crystals. By characterizing their structural and magnetic properties, we find that these YIG flakes have surfaces oriented along unusual crystallographic axes and uniaxial in-plane magnetic anisotropy due to their shape, both of which are not commonly available in YIG thin films. These physical properties, combined with the possibility of picking up the YIG flakes and stacking them onto flakes of other van der Waals materials or pre-patterned electrodes or waveguides, open unexplored possibilities for magnonics and for the realization of novel YIG-based heterostructures and spintronic devices. This article, published in the journal Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgeon, explores the predictive value of the preoperative right-to-left ventricular filling pressures (CVP/PCWP) ratio on the development of right-sided heart failure (RSHF) after left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation. The study analyzed data from 134 patients who received a continuous flow LVAD with a centrifugal pump, with 40 patients initially evaluated using a right-sided heart catheter. The results showed that a high CVP/PCWP ratio was associated with a higher incidence of RSHF after LVAD implantation. The study suggests that monitoring the CVP/PCWP ratio could help predict the risk of RSHF and guide treatment decisions. [Extracted from the article]

Older refugees experience poor mental and emotional health outcomes compared to younger counterparts. Although older adults are instrumental in family/community adjustment in postmigration settings, little is known about how to enhance psychosocial resilience in this population. The aim of this systematic review is to glean deeper insight into the protective factors and processes associated with older refugees' resilience and positive psychosocial health in postmigration settings. We searched eight electronic health and social science databases. Twenty-three articles met the criteria for inclusion; we analyzed these using a multisystemic resilience lens. Studies spanned 1991 to 2022; importantly, 15 of the 23 articles were published in the past decade, indicating growing attention to the mental and psychosocial health of older refugees. Only six of the included articles focused on older refugees living in low- and middle-income countries, revealing a contrast between where most of the world's refugees reside and where the majority of mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) research is conducted. We found tremendous variation in determinants of psychosocial resilience based on the politico-historical contexts of migration; sociocultural backgrounds of refugees; and distinct postmigration needs, resources, and settings. Broadly, macrosystem determinants of resilience included security, access to basic services, and maintenance of culture and spirituality. Mesosystem factors were related to social support from families, ethnic communities, religious networks, and host country nationals. Finally, microsystem determinants of older refugees' resilience included language acquisition, cognitive reappraisal, and sense of optimism. Our findings suggest the importance of interdisciplinary, multilevel research designs to highlight how multiple ecosystems interact to promote psychosocial resilience among older refugees. Taken together, this systematic review offers important insight into multilevel protective factors and processes to enhance culturally and contextually meaningful MHPSS for older refugees. The antiferromagnetic insulator α-Fe2O3 (hematite), widely used in spintronics and magnonics, features a spin-reorientation transition (Morin transition) at 263 K. Thin films, however, often lack this Morin transition, limiting their potential applications. Here, we investigate the impact of different growth conditions on the magnetic anisotropy in α-Fe2O3 films to tune the Morin transition temperature. To this end, we compare the structural, magnetic, and magnon-based spin transport properties of α-Fe2O3 films with different thicknesses grown by pulsed laser deposition in molecular and atomic oxygen atmospheres. We observe a finite Morin transition for those grown by atomic-oxygen-assisted deposition, interestingly even down to 19 nm thickness, where we find a Morin transition at 125 K. In easy-plane antiferromagnets, the nature and time-evolution of the elementary excitations of the spin system are captured by the orientation and precession of the magnon pseudospin around its equilibrium pseudofield, manifesting itself in the magnon Hanle effect. We characterize this effect in these α-Fe2O3 films via all-electrical magnon transport measurements. The films grown with atomic oxygen show a markedly different magnon spin signal from those grown in molecular oxygen atmospheres. Most importantly, the maximum magnon Hanle signal is significantly enhanced, and the Hanle peak is shifted to lower magnetic field values for films grown with atomic oxygen, suggesting changes in the magnetic anisotropy due to an increased oxygen content in these films. Our findings provide new insights into the possibility to fine-tune the magnetic anisotropy in α-Fe2O3 and thereby to engineer the magnon Hanle effect. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
