This research introduces a novel probability model, the DUS modified Lehmann-type II power function distribution, designed to optimize potato yields. This model provides valuable insights for decision-makers and can enhance sustainable potato production practices. To achieve our goal, we utilized a time series dataset spanning 75 years (1947–1948 to 2021–2022) of potato cultivation statistics for Punjab and Pakistan, sourced from the official website of the Agricultural Statistics of Pakistan. We rigorously tested six parameter estimation methods, ultimately selecting the maximum likelihood technique based on extensive simulation experiments that considered accuracy measures, including bias, mean square, and root mean square errors. Model selection was determined using established goodness-of-fit tests among recognized models. The precise estimations generated by our model offer valuable support to producers and policymakers in making well-informed decisions about crop management strategies, including the optimal use of fertilizers and pesticides. This research introduces a shifted Kumaraswamy distribution (SKD). The SKD is capable of modelling real-world phenomena with asymmetrical and bathtub-shaped characteristics with exceptional proficiency. The mathematical and reliability characteristics are thoroughly examined. To better comprehend its behaviour, density and hazard rate functions are plotted. The parameters of the model are estimated through the use of the maximum likelihood estimation method. The effectiveness of the SKD is demonstrated through its application to four real-world lifetime datasets, resulting in significantly improved outcomes compared to other well-known models and providing the closest fit to the data. Background. A country's agriculture reflects a backbone and performs a vital part in the betterment of the economy and individuals. Facts and figures of the agriculture sector offer a solid foundation and factual pathway intended for upcoming decisions in favor of a country. Accordingly, the probability models have a more significant influence not only in reliability engineering, hydrology, ecology, and medicine but also in agriculture sciences. Objective. The primary objective of this study is to propose a reliable and efficient model for pearl millet yield analysis, thereby empowering decision-makers to make informed decisions about their farming practices. With the successful implementation of this model, farmers can potentially increase their pearl millet yield, leading to higher incomes and improved livelihoods for the rural population of Pakistan. Model. This study proposes a novel probability model, namely, the alpha transformed odd exponential power function (ATOE-PF) distribution, for analyzing pearl millet yield in Punjab, Pakistan. Data. For data collection, two secondary data sets are explored that are electronically available on the site of the Directorate of Agriculture (Economics and Marketing) Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan. Results. The maximum likelihood estimation technique is used for estimating the model parameters. For the selection of a better fit model, we follow some accredited goodness of fit tests. The efficiency and applicability of the ATOE-PF distribution are discussed over the province of Punjab (with RMSE = 4.9176) and Pakistan (with RMSE = 4.5849). In this paper, we develop a new class that generates flexible optimal models. The appropriate features of the new class and a special member are studied by utilizing analytical, graphical, and numerical methodologies. For the estimation of unknown parameters, the maximum likelihood, least-square, and percentile methods are discussed and selection is based on bias and mean square error via an extensive simulation study. Background: The burden of the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted widely on the healthcare providers physically and mentally. Many healthcare providers are exposed to psychological stressors due to their high risk of contracting the virus. Aims: This study aimed to measure the level of anxiety among healthcare providers during the COVID-19 pandemic in Saudi Arabia. In addition, this study aimed to measure the level of anxiety based on demographic characteristics. Method: A cross-sectional survey was employed to recruit a convenience sample of healthcare providers. A pencil and paper self-administered questionnaires were used to collect data from demographic and generalized anxiety disorder GAD-7 data. However, this study received written informed consent from participants of the study. In addition, the study was approved by the Institutional Review Board at Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Group (IRB Log No. RC20.06.88-03). Results: A total of 650 participants were recruited, results of GAD-7 showed that 43.5%, 28.9% and 27.5% of healthcare providers in Saudi Arabia experienced mild, moderate and severe anxiety, respectively, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Results indicated that age, health specialty, nationality, and sleeping disorders before COVID-19 were associated with anxiety levels. Conclusion: The generalized anxiety among healthcare providers in Saudi Arabia was mild. Older healthcare providers were found to have a higher level of anxiety compared to other participating healthcare providers. Several factors may contribute to a higher level of anxiety including age, socioeconomic status, marital status, having chronic conditions, and sleeping disorder before the COVID-19 pandemic. In this paper, we proposed a new model, capable of modeling against the bathtub shaped failure rate phenomena, referred to as the Lehmann-II Muhammad (L-II-M) distribution. We derived some mathematical and reliability characteristics developed some explicit expressions for the moments, quantile function, and order statistics. We suggested a method of maximum likelihood estimator for the estimation of model parameters, and a simulation study was recommended to observe the asymptotic behavior of MLEs.
