The article presents a discussion on the status of domestic recovered paper supplies in the U.S. On average across the U.S., about 51 percent of the discarded paper coming from offices and other commercial sources is destined for disposal, while the remaining 49 percent goes to a material recovery facility where it is sorted and classified by grade for recycling. Paper from offices and commercial sources falls into two main categories: mixed paper or high-grade deinking. Mixed paper includes a range of coated and uncoated printing and writing paper, and may include some lower quality groundwood paper.
