This study conducts a comprehensive bibliometric and content analysis of scholarly articles investigating the relationship between leadership and organizational commitment. Utilizing the Web of Science Core Collection database, the research encompasses a rigorous search strategy focused on terms such as "leadership", "distributed leadership", "transformational leadership", and "organizational commitment". We selected a final dataset of 2110 peer-reviewed papers from the management and business domains after filtering through over 10,000 sources. The analysis identifies five key clusters to expand the understanding between leadership and organizational commitment: (1) "The Future of Remote Work and Its Impact on Organizational Commitment", (2) "Authentic Leadership in the Age of Climate Organizational Change", (3) "Job Satisfaction Promotes Leadership and Organizational Commitment by Empowering Attitudes and Perceptions", (4) "Study of Leadership Style and Culture as Antecedents of Organizational Performance", and (5) "Leadership in the Digital Age: Exploring the Intersection of Transactional and Transformational Leadership Styles". This study's originality lies in its extensive bibliometric examination, offering novel insights and guiding future research directions, thereby significantly contributing to the understanding and advancement of the field. The current study's purpose is to present a picture of the extent to and frequency at which Israeli Arab principals are perceived as displaying the leadership styles of participative leadership versus directive leadership and transformation versus transactional leadership and then investigating the relationship of these leadership styles to teachers' organizational commitment (OC). Data were collected from two sources: senior management team members and teachers to avoid same source and common method bias: 426 participants overall from 71 high schools in the Israeli Arab educational system. Unianova analysis and hierarchical regression analyses were used to test the proposed relationships. The results of the overall model indicated that although principals in the Arab society in Israel are perceived mostly as directive leaders, participative leadership was positively associated with teacher OC beyond the specific influence of directive leadership. Changes in teacher perceptions, toward freedom of self‐expression and career advancement, seem to be reflected in the influence of principals' leadership styles on teachers' OC that are derived in part from cultural features of the school's environment. Implications for theory and practice are discussed. Practitioner points: Principals in the Arab educational system in Israel are perceived mostly as directive leaders and thus display leadership styles that are aligned with the cultural attributes of their society.The positive implication of participative leadership on teacher organizational commitment seems to indicate a shift in Israeli Arab teachers' aspirations for change, autonomy and involvement in school policy and decision making.Israeli Arab society has been engaged in a process of transition in which a traditional society that puts the collective at the center is being influenced by modern values such as social equality and individual aspirations for career advancement, with the result of placing the individual rather than the collective in the center. The research was conducted to examine the relationship between coaches' perceived leadership styles and organizational commitment levels. For this purpose, people who actively continue their coaching duties in different branches and reside in Trabzon were included in the study. Three separate forms were used to collect data in the research. These; Personal Information Form, Multifactor Leadership Scale and Organizational Commitment Scale. SPSS (Version 26) was used in the analysis process of this study, which was carried out in the relational screening model. Among parametric tests, t-test, ANOVA and Pearson correlation analysis were used. According to the research results; There were no differences in the variables of gender, education level, being a national athlete, type of sports branch and region of duty. However, in the transformational leadership sub-dimension; Statistically significant results were obtained depending on the variables of age, marital status, coaching level, institution and tenure. In the transactional leadership sub-dimension; Statistically significant results were obtained depending on the variables of age, perceived income status, coaching level, institution and tenure. In the organizational commitment variable; Statistically significant results were obtained only in the variables of perceived income status, coaching level and tenure. In recent years, styles of transformational and transactional leadership have become an important area of research because of its significant impact on teachers' outcomes such as commitment, job satisfaction, self-efficacy. However, the relationships between transformational and transactional leadership styles of school principals and teachers' organizational commitment have been rarely investigated in the educational context in Vietnam. This study aimed to determine how transformational and transactional leadership styles influence the organizational commitment of Vietnamese high school teachers. The study employed two standardized surveys to collect data from 387 teachers at 24 public high schools in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam. The results of correlation coefficient analyses indicated that teachers' organizational commitment was positively influenced by transformational leadership and negatively influenced by transactional leadership. In addition, the results of multiple regression analyses showed that the organizational commitment of teachers was predicted by all components of both leadership styles of principals. The present study suggested that school leaders might combine both transformational and transactional leadership styles in their leadership practices to improve teachers' organizational commitment. The COVID-19 pandemic that hit the world during 2019 has set an enormous challenge for the healthcare industry in B&H as well as for the entire world. The Healthcare industry was forced to find new strategies overnight to survive. This study aims to investigate the impact of transactional and transformational leadership styles on employees’ intention to stay in mediating the role of affective commitment in healthcare organizations in B&H during the COVID-19. This research has high implications for decreasing turnover in workplaces and increasing organizational commitment by contributing high commitment to the employees that will be more motivated and perform better. The data of the study were analyzed using SPSS (v20) software packages and mediation tests were applied, using 178 sample data from private healthcare institutions in B&H. The results indicate that effective commitment mediates the connection between transformational and transactional leadership and turnover intention.

Open government data (OGD) are considered a sustainable driver of firm innovation. Leadership is a crucial decision-maker for firms to employ OGD in innovation. The present study focuses on two of the most prominent leadership styles: transformational and transactional. Drawing on the Organizational Commitment Theory, we claim that affective and normative commitment are the two parallel mechanisms that explain how leadership promotes OGD-driven innovation in firms. Our results show that transformational leadership promotes OGD-driven radical innovation through affective commitment. In contrast, transactional leadership promotes OGD-driven incremental innovation through normative commitment. More importantly, we suggest that the OGD application stage moderates the effect of leadership on organizational commitment. Specifically, in the initial stage of the OGD application, higher transformational leadership triggers higher affective commitment in employees. Organizational commitment is posited to be influenced by organizations' leadership styles. This is due to leadership provides guidance and influence the organizations' members to move towards attaining the collective objectives. Within the context of a high compliance organizations such as the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM, leadership style is expected to impose stronger influence on the members' work behaviors including the organizational commitment. Thus, this study aims to analyse the effect of transformational and transactional leadership styles on the organizational commitment of the lower rank police officers in the PDRM. The study employs quantitative research design which based on the survey technique. Questionnaires are distributed to 226 respondents among the lower rank police officers who are involved in the crime prevention and enforcement task in the Police Headquarters in one of the districts in Selangor. The study sample has been selected through the random sampling technique and consist of members from the Sub Inspector, Sargent Major, Sargent, Corporal, Lans Corporal and Constable ranks. The Multiple Regression analysis is used to test the influence between variables in the study framework. The study findings show a significant relationship between the transformation and transactional leadership style with the members' organizational commitment. As a result, transformational and transactional leadership styles are essential leadership styles that have influence on the lower rank police officers' organizational commitment. The study result further indicates transformational leadership styles has more positive influence and dominance in contributing to higher level of organizational commitment compared to the transactional leadership style. Over the last several decades, the attention of scholars in the field of leadership in higher education (HE) has been rapidly growing. A corpus of literature on leadership research has established how leadership styles affect institutional performance, organizational commitment, culture, employees' motivation, effectiveness, retention, and job satisfaction. Although a considerable amount of research on how leadership is related to employees' job satisfaction across literature exists, however, little research has studied the influence of academics' perceived leadership styles on their job satisfaction in African countries and particularly in Tanzania. Drawing from Bass and Avolio's (1994) Full Range Leadership Theory (FRLT) and Herzberg's two-factor theory, the present study examined the association between academics' perceived leadership styles employed by either their deans or head of departments on their job satisfaction as measured by the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (MSQ). The study was quantitatively driven with a cross-sectional survey design. A convenient sample of academics (N = 411) of which (Men: N = 310, Women: N = 101) from four Tanzanian universities responded to a Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ-5x short) and MSQ. A hierarchical multiple regression analysis was performed by using SPSS version 25 to detect significant predictors of academics' job satisfaction. Results demonstrated that both perceived transformational and transactional leadership styles statistically significantly related to academics' job satisfaction over and above their marital status, gender, age, academic rank, and institutional type. Orientation: Organisations are facing several challenges pertaining to effective leadership, fairness and loyalty of employees. The moderating influence of transformational leadership (TL) on the relationship between justice and employee commitment is still largely unknown and needs to be explored further, especially within the customer service industry. Research purpose: The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between organisational justice and employee commitment and to examine the moderating effect of TL on the relationship between organisational justice and employee commitment in a customer service organisation. Motivation for the study: The research setting of this study is a customer service organisation. This organisation calls for a role model leadership approach, such as TL, to create a just, fair workplace and ultimately increase the level of employee commitment. Research approach/design and method: A quantitative cross-sectional survey design was used to collect the data from a sample of 111 permanently employed staff in a South African customer service organisation. Main findings: The findings indicate that TL had a significant positive relationship with organisational justice and employee commitment. Furthermore, the results indicate that TL moderated the relationship between organisational justice and employee commitment. Practical/managerial implications: The findings showed that TL could be vital as an effective leadership approach that can enhance justice perceptions and psychological attachment in the workplace. Contribution/value-add: This study contributes to the theoretical debate on TL, workplace fairness and psychological attachment by providing empirical support on the effect of TL on the relationship between justice and commitment perceptions. Purpose: In the current study, the relationship between organizational commitment, considered as the psychological ties between worker and organization, and leadership styles was investigated based on the role of organizational culture in this relationship. Method/approach: The study consisted of a cross-sectional survey, applied in an organization in Fortaleza/CE, with a sample of 205 workers. Contributions: The following positive and significant correlations were attested: transformational leadership with the bonds of affective commitment, common future and normative commitment; transactional leadership with the normative commitment bond; absence of leadership with the ties of scarcity of alternatives and psychological absence. The clan-like organizational culture acted as a moderating variable reducing the effects on the following relationships: transformational leadership and affective commitment and between transformational leadership and common future, which suggests that aspects such as excessive informality, few hierarchical levels and former. Nowadays, sustainable performance (SP) has become an obligation of every organization globally, which captures the attention of recent researchers and policymakers. Following the green theory, this study aims to examine the impact of corporate social responsibilities (CSR), transactional and transformational leadership on the SP. Besides, examining the moderating role of sustainable entrepreneurship and mediating role of organizational commitment among the nexus of CSR, transactional and transformational leadership, and SP is another target of this research. This study adopted the questionnaires to collect the data from the respondents of the internet services industry in China, and structural equation modeling (SEM)was employed to analyze the data. This research revealed that CSR, transactional, and transformational leadership have a positive effect on SP. Secondly, this study also indicated that sustainable entrepreneurship significantly moderates among nexus of transactional and transformational leadership to SP. Besides, our results show that organizational commitment positively mediates the links between CSR, transactional leadership, transformational leadership, and the SP. The conclusion of this research signifies that organizational leadership strongly influences the adoption of green and sustainable operations, which further influences the SP. The purpose of this research is to investigate the psychological mechanisms that cause the influence of transformational and transactional leadership on employee performance. Based on employee stewardship theory (EST) and social exchange theory (SET), an organizational commitment was selected as a perfect moderating variable to conduct the study. The data were collected from sixteen (16) organizations in the public sector of Ghana, consisting of 330 full-time employees. The results indicate that organizational commitment positively moderates transformational leadership while transactional leadership does not. We realized that when transformational leadership is high, organizational commitment goes up, thereby increasing employee performance. On the other hand, when transactional leadership goes up, organizational commitment decreases, causing employees performance to dwindle. Therefore, transactional leaders should augment their approach with transformational leadership to increase employee performance. It has become clear that organizational commitment (OC) has important implications for employees and organizations as confirmed by past researchers. This study examines leadership styles and employees' organizational commitment in the Malaysia context. Two types of leadership styles namely transformational and transactional leadership styles have been chosen as focus of research to investigate the impact on organizational commitment. This is imperative in order to ensure the successful management of employees and also to improve productivity and achievements of an organization. One hundred and fifty-six Malaysian executives voluntarily participated in this study. The results have indicated that several dimensions of transactional and transformational leadership have positive relationship with organizational commitment but the impacts are stronger for transactional leadership style. The current study tries to align various model of mediation through leadership styles (Transformational, Transactional), organization culture types (innovative, supportive and bureaucratic) with employees commitment thorough job satisfaction among the employees of government libraries from Khyber pakhtoonKhwa Pakistan. The data was collected through adopted construct from finite sample and it was analyzed through (Barron and Kenny) meditational procedure. Findings depict that employees commitment with job depend upon the leadership styles and it is positively mediated by their satisfaction from job. In contrast from three different cultural set up only bureaucratic cultural attribute shows significant relationship with employee's commitment through meditational role of employee's job satisfaction. Interestingly both supportive and innovative culture did not indicate the direct relationship with employee's commitment, nor does it support the meditational role of employee's job satisfaction. Purpose: The success of a firm often largely depends on its employees. Therefore, we propose and test the possibility of influencing affective and normative commitment by transactional, transformational, and passive leadership styles. Implications: Demographic change is progressing slowly but steadily; here lies the crucial point. Our results show that only transformational leadership influences the commitment dimensions positively. That can help make the best use of scarce human resources to remain competitive in the long term. Originality/Value: The article provides new information concerning the relationship between transformational and transactional leadership style and their influence on commitment within the banking and consulting sector of the German service industry. It highlights the need for further research into this topic across industries and demographics. For cross-cultural (USA-Germany) comparisons, the article might help to understand differences and trends within globalization. Methodology: To address this question, we conducted interviews with 197 employees of the financial service sector in Germany to confirm the relationship between leadership styles and employee commitment. In order to verify and extend previous research, we planned an explanatory study. We used the multiple regression analysis to examine this relationship. Findings: The results provide new evidence for German participants, which show (1) that transformational leadership is the "optimum" to facilitate commitment and is completely decoupled from the other leadership styles. (2) Preliminary studies revealed a preference toward transactional leadership, which correlated positively with affective and normative commitment. The present study cannot confirm this correlation. (3) Passive leadership correlates negatively with commitment, which indicates that the avoidance of passive leadership is essential. In sum, the correlation for different leadership styles (except transactional leadership style) is higher than in the preliminary studies. The purpose of this study was to determine and analyze the effect of transformational leadership style and motivation on teacher performance mediated by organizational commitment. The population in this study were all Madrasah aliyah teachers in Yogyakarta Municipality. The sample selection was 117 respondents. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling technique. The instrument used in this research was a questionnaire. The type of research used was quantitative research and the type of data was primary data that was sourced directly from the questionnaire distribution survey. The research model was analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the help of AMOS Software. The results of this study indicated that (1) Achievement motivation had a positive and significant effect on teacher performance. (2) Transformational Leadership had a positive and significant effect on teacher performance. (3) Achievement motivation had a positive and significant effect on organizational commitment. Purpose: While substantial a number of research studies have examined the effect of leadership styles on work-related behaviour, the interaction effect of transactional-transformational leadership on work-related behaviour has been rarely investigated in a developing context. Thus, this study aims to examine the interaction effect of transactional-transformational leadership on employee commitment in Ghana. Design/methodology/approach: The study used descriptive and cross-sectional survey designs. Cross-sectional data was obtained from 360 employees in the aviation industry of Ghana and analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation and hierarchical regression techniques. Findings: Transactional leadership style has a significant positive effect on employee commitment. However, when transformational leadership was added on transactional leadership base, there was no augmentation effect of transformational leadership style in predicting employee commitment. The results further indicate that there was a negative interaction effect of transactional and transformational leadership styles on employee commitment. Practical implications: The findings imply that organizational leaders can improve employee commitment by purely resorting to transactional leadership behaviours. Leaders can also enhance employee commitment by augmenting transactional leadership behaviours on transformational leadership, as the reverse has no augmentation effect. Originality/value: This study considerably complements existing leadership literature by establishing how a transformational leadership style can augment and/or interact with transaction leadership style to influence employee commitment in a developing country. With limited studies on the relative effectiveness of different leadership styles in NPOs, the purpose of this paper is to propose a model in which work engagement mediates the effects of transformational leadership and transactional leadership simultaneously on affective commitment and organizational citizenship behavior among NPOs employees. Furthermore, the paper aims to investigate whether transformational leadership better explains work engagement and the aforesaid outcomes than transactional leadership. Relying on large scale data collected from employees working in two types of NPOs categories (human service organizations and charities) in the north of Italy, structural equation modeling was utilized to verify the aforesaid linkages. Among others, the indirect effect of transformational leadership on affective commitment and organizational citizenship behavior, through work engagement, was stronger than the indirect effect of transactional leadership. Since 2003 the number of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) has increased exponentially in Iraqi Kurdistan. To facilitate further growth the owners and chief executive officers of these enterprises have sought to improve their leadership skills. This study examined the effect of transactional and transformational leadership styles on organizational commitment and performance in Iraqi Kurdistan SMEs, and the mediating effect of organizational commitment in these relationships. We distributed 530 questionnaires and collected 400 valid responses (75% response rate) from 115 SME owners/chief executive officers and 285 employees. The results demonstrate there were positive effects of both types of leadership style on organizational performance. Further, the significant mediating effect of organizational commitment in both relationships shows the importance of this variable for leader effectiveness among entrepreneurs in Iraqi Kurdistan, and foreign entrepreneurs engaging in new businesses in the region. Leadership style is one of the attributes that always garners researchers' attention. A leader's character is a significant factor that contributes to organizations' success of failure. This research focuses on spiritual leadership style that gains very little attention from researchers, transformational and transactional leadership styles that are practiced by political leaders and the styles' impacts towards organizational commitment and intention to stay among parties' appointed committee members. Spiritual leadership styles that have not get much attention from researchers are the main focus of this study. Specifically, this research also examines the roles of affective and normative commitment as the mediating factors to the relationship of spiritual, transformational and transactional leadership styles and the intention to stay with an institution. This research was embarked on UMNO Divisions' and PAS Zones' committee members in Selangor. Out of 1,290 distributed questionnaires, 357 were analyzed. Hypothesis testing was done via Sobel and multiple regression analyses. The results reveal that all styles have significant roles in enhancing the committee members' affective and normative commitment towards their organizations. The leadership style also has a positive relationship with the intention to stay. The mediating effect analysis discovers that normative commitment acts as a mediator to the relationship of spiritual, transformational and transactional leadership styles and the intention to stay. The purpose of this study is to examine and evaluate the implications of organizational commitment factors as a mediator of the relationship between transformational leadership styles and teamwork performance among law enforcement in Malaysia. Quantitative research design has been used which comprise a number of 254 support group of law enforcement officers in the Federal Territory of Putrajaya. Multiple regression analysis is used to evaluate the direct and indirect relationships of variables and study models. The two factors characteristic of the transformational leadership style are used as an independent variable in looking at the effectiveness of teamwork performance among law enforcement. The inspirational motivation and individual considerations have positive and significant relationships with teamwork performance. Organizational commitment is found to have a partial mediator that influenced the relationship between inspirational motivation and individual consideration in teamwork performance. The inspirational, motivational features and individualized considerations in the style of transformational leadership are necessary and emphasized in producing more productive and effective teamwork commitments and performance. The present organizational structure of companies, no matter the size, in the bigger framework of the labour market and economic conditions, require a certain way of leading. The leadership of an organization towards constructive change begins by establishing a direction - the development of a vision, usually a distant future along with strategies for making the necessary changes to achieve that vision. The equivalent activity of leadership is to guide people. This is to communicate the new direction for those who can create groups that understand the vision and are committed to translating it into reality. The current study focuses on two types of leadership - transformational and transactional - as main tools for properly leading a hotel. Empowering leadership consists of allowing the employees to handle the business by themselves without interacting with leaders and managers too much. The research carried out in the article aims at filling in the gap that has been identified in the current state of knowledge, by providing information regarding the leadership style that is most frequently encountered in hotels on the Romanian market, and how efficient it proves to be with a view towards generating business quality and profitability. The role of nursing is crucial for providing required cure and care to patients in hospitals. The leadership style influence nurses working abilities and job related outcomes. Considering these arguments the present study aims at examining the relationship between nursing leadership styles (i.e. transactional and transformational) and job related outcomes (i.e. commitment with organization, satisfaction with job and work performance). To do this data was collected from 206 nurses working in different hospitals of Pakistan was collected. Descriptive and inferential statistical treatment was given to analyze the data. The results of the study revealed that both the leadership styles (i.e. transactional and transformational) positively and significantly correlated with work performance, organizational commitment and job satisfaction. On the other hand, regression analysis confirms that transformational leadership study has greater impact on job satisfaction and organizational commitment as compared transactional style while, transactional leadership style has greater influence on work performance. This study compared the relationship between leadership style and affective organizational commitment (AOC) for Korean and U.S. employees, based on path-goal leadership theory and culturally endorsed implicit leadership theory. The results showed that the positive relationship between transformational leadership and AOC was stronger for U.S. employees than their Korean counterparts, whereas transactional leadership was positively related to AOC only for Korean employees. Also, we tested Bass's (Leadership and performance beyond expectations, Free Press, New York, 1985) augmentation effect and House's (Leadersh Q 7(3):323–352, 1996) negative moderating effect of the two leadership styles. The current study was conducted among employees in several organizations (N = 260). We investigated the relationships between the two leadership styles (the predictors) and several individual and organizational work outcomes among two age categories. For the young-to-adults age group, both transformational and transactional leadership associated positively with organizational justice; organizational justice associated positively with work commitment and work motivation; both transformational and transactional leadership associated positively with work motivation; and only transformational leadership associated positively with work commitment. Transactional leadership and work commitment were not significantly correlated. For the older group, transformational leadership associated positively with organizational justice; however, transactional leadership linked to it negatively. Organizational justice associated positively only with work commitment. Organizational justice and work motivation were not significantly related. Important implications are discussed. In comparison with research on the private sector, organizational commitment within the police has been rarely examined. Moreover, the leadership styles of police officials are not equal in all police studies across the world. Using data collected in 2009 from 236 Korean police officers, the purpose of this study is twofold: (a) to determine if the scale (multifactor leadership questionnaire, form 6-S [MLQ-6 S]) is applicable to police agencies internationally; and (b) to examine if leadership influences organizational commitment in law enforcement agencies. Results indicate that transformational leadership is positively linked to organizational commitment in Korean police agencies. However, the applicability of MLQ-6 S is controversial. This research was conducted to address leadership styles and affective organizational commitment and what types of leadership styles that contribute the most to affective organizational commitment within SMEs in Johor retail sector commitment. Quantitative was used for conducting this research and the questionnaire was distributed to the person in charge in order to distribute to his colleagues. The prepared questionnaire which covered dimensions of transformational leadership style and transactional leadership style, and affective organizational commitment was adapted from Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire and other research. Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) was used for analysing data. Pearson Correlation Analysis will be used to measure the relationship in linear correlation between two numerical data variables, Regression and Multiple Regression analysis was used to test single or multiple independent variables and one dependent variable. Inspirational motivation has a significant and strong positive relationship with affective organizational commitment. The finding showed that leadership styles have a very strong relationship with affective organizational commitment. By further dividing into two different leadership styles, the transformational leadership style has a significant and strong positive relationship with affective organizational commitment while the transactional leadership style has a significant and weak positive relationship with affective organizational commitment. Even both leadership styles have contributed to the affective organizational commitment, the transformational leadership style contributes the most to the affective organizational commitment followed by transactional leadership style.
