Nowadays, the usage of smartphones keeps increasing day by day and it is also can be used effectively to increase the computational power and the security along with search and rescue. To maintain the attendance records, several organizations are depending on paper-based attendance. Manually recorded attendance for the employees has produced problems that related to information accuracy and workforce performance efficiency. In this paper, reviewed and discussed various methods, applications and systems that can be used by the employer to monitor their staff attendance using fingerprint, Iris, RFID and GPS. The outcome of this survey is getting knowledge on various techniques that used to record and monitor staff’s attendance.

This project represents the design of a safety system for conveying and storing valuable documents while restricting unauthorized access. The system consists of a couple of security lair to prevent any leakage from important documents such as question paper, banknotes, and statements, etc. from collection to distribution. The system has been made with a Memory module, Ultrasonic sensor, Fingerprint security, RFID module, GPS and GSM module, etc. This proposed security system has been featured in such a way that the navigation box where we will put our question paper can be opened only by an authorized person in specific places and in a specific time. Education is the most important aspect of our life and through the exams, we can judge people's outlook on their respective fields of study. But question paper leak is a major problem in several countries and this project is here to end it.

In worldwide, security plays a significant role in preventing different assets and crimes. Education has become an essential right of human life as it has been transferred from one era to next. The examination is a significant part of the coaching structure. The key objective of the examination would be to select the suitable applicants for different positions. Every year the updates that exams have been postponed or canceled due to inquiry paper leakage are occurring. So, an innovative system is implemented to prevent this spillage of examination papers. This system is designed on the embedded system. The main types of equipment of this advanced system are Arduino Mega, solar panel, fingerprint scanner, GSM module, and GPS module.

Examination is the heart of the training structure. The main aim of the examination is to pick the qualified applicants for various positions. We hear the news of postponed or cancellation of exams each year due to question paper spillage. So, to stop this leakage of question papers a smart system is proposed. This system is designed on the embedded system. The key components of the device are NodeMcu, Biometric Sensor and GPS Module.

A hybrid method of ecological habitat survey and mapping is presented, bridging paper-based methods and mobile electronic procedures. The hybrid approach uses a hand-held PDA with real-time dGPS to map habitats and record habitat attributes. It retains paper field maps to facilitate ecological decisions and to overcome the need for field surveyors to operate a fully functional mobile GIS system. The transition from paper records to a full GIS implementation is bridged by secondary digitisation in which a GIS specialist, trained in field survey procedures, interacts routinely with the field surveyors, throughout the field season to assure data quality standards. The methodology is practical and affordable, particularly if there are multiple field surveyors.

Nowadays, the vehicle tracking system is a new communication technology used in real time by many companies and individuals to track vehicle by using Global Positioning System [GPS]. It is extensively used all over the world to find the vehicles exact location. In our project we are using IOT to find the accurate position of that moving vehicle in order to obtain best results when compared to other conventional methods. This proposed system is directly interfaced with the bus by using the OBD/CAN interfaces and conveys these parameters to a central server using wireless sensor network technology.

In this paper we describe a combination of paper-based sensors and a novel smart-phone application for on-site quantification of colorimetric readouts as an ultra-low cost solution to monitoring water quality. The system utilizes a paper-based analytical device (μPAD) that produces a colorimetric signal that is dependent on the concentration of a specific target; a cell phone equipped with a camera for capturing images of two μPADs – one tested with a water sample and the other tested with clean water that is used as a control; and an on-site image processing app that uses a novel algorithm for quantifying color intensity and relating this to contaminant concentration. The cell phone app utilizes a pixel counting algorithm that performs with less bias and user subjectivity than the typically used lab-based software, ImageJ . The use of a test and control strip reduces bias from variations in ambient lighting, making it possible to acquire and process images on-site. The cell phone is also able to GPS tag the location of the test, and transmit results to a newly developed website, WaterMap.ca™, that displays the quantitative results from the water samples on a map. We demonstrate our approach using a previously developed μPAD that detects the presence of organophosphate pesticides based on the inhibition of immobilized acetylcholinesterase by these contaminants. The objective of this paper is to highlight the importance and potential of developing and integrated monitoring system consisting of μPADs, cell-phones and a centralized web portal for low-cost monitoring environmental contaminants at a large-scale.

This paper exhibits the design and implementation of a compact dual-band bandpass filter on paper substrate. The proposed filter which works on the principle of signal interference technique has a parallel combination of short-circuited coupled line and an H-shaped network of transmission lines with open stubs. Due to the superposition of signals of the two transmission paths, a second order dual-band bandpass response with four transmission zeroes is achieved. To validate the proposed design, theoretical analysis using the lossless transmission line model is carried out and acknowledged. The developed dual-band filter prototype with center frequencies 1.17 GHz and 4.06 GHz has 3-dB fractional bandwidths of 82.56% (0.69–1.656 GHz) and 20.59% (3.645–4.481 GHz), respectively. The simulated and experimental results are in good congruence with each other. The proposed dual-band bandpass filter can be used in various wireless applications, for example, Global System for Mobile Communications (880–915 MHz), Aircraft surveillance (960–1215 MHz), Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (1.164–1.188 GHz), Amateur radio (1.24–1.30 GHz), Global Positioning System (1.559–1.61 GHz), Satellite phones (1.616–1.626 GHz), and Satellite communication (3.7–4.2 GHz).

I-CROSS is an intelligent system designed to help drivers to decide the time slot in which an intersection can be crossed without collisions. This service has been developed as a desktop application that can be executed in Android devices. The set of algorithms that determine the crossing order are fed with information about surrounding vehicles: actual and further GPS position, speed and an identification number. The interchange of this information relays in a IEEE 802.11p communications architecture, that is, in a VANET network created ad-hoc among the vehicles are close to the intersection. The reliability of the application depends on the probability that the vehicles would be able to share this information, so before testing I-CROSS, the communication link must be checked in different scenarios. In this paper the results of these tests are shown and a description of the I-CROSS is also included.

In the paper entitled “Two independent real-time precursors of the 7.8 M earthquake in Ecuador based on radioactive and geodetic processes – Powerful tools for an early warning system”, Toulkeridis et al. (2019) claim that they found radiation and GPS signal anomalies before the April 16th 2016 Pedernales earthquake (Ecuador) and that their findings can be used to forecast earthquakes in the medium and short term in active continental margins. Using an extended data set that overlaps Toulkeridis et al. (2019) study period, we find: (1) the success rate of predicting earthquakes using radiation anomalies is 2.5 %; (2) radiation anomalies, including the one recorded during the hours before the M 7.8 earthquake, temporally correlate with local rainfall; (3) Toulkeridis et al. (2019) GPS results are physically unrealistic and inconsistent with previously published GPS and InSAR analysis; (4) there is no anomaly in the GPS time series before the earthquake. Therefore, Toulkeridis et al. (2019) results are not reliable evidence of precursors to the M 7.8 earthquake in 2016 in Ecuador, and their proposed method cannot be used to forecast earthquakes.

In order to determine the absolute accuracy of SRMT model on Polish area the research work has been performed on the basis of reference terrain profiles measured by GPS technique. The flat and hilly terrains were examined in administrative borders of fourteen provinces. It was not reference data for mountainous terrains. For the analysis of accuracy of the SRTM model 332 terrain profiles and 29,308 points have been measured. The accuracy of SRTM model presented by RMSE was computed on the basic of the height differences between profiles and models homolog points. The analyses have been done in Modular GIS Environment Intergraph software. The absolute accuracy of SRTM model on Polish area RMSE Z = 2.9 m for flat regions and RMSE Z = 5.4 m for hilly regions were achieved. It was affirmed that this accuracy is depend on the resolution of grid points of DEM and terrain inclination. The statistic estimation showed systematic shift between SRTM data and reference profiles. The RMSE Z without systematic part was found to be 1.0 m for flat regions and 2.7 m for hilly regions of Polish area. The data of SRTM level DTED-1 could be used for DEM and contour lines generation on the topographic maps in scales smaller then 1:50,000 and for SRTM system calibration.

Research on affordable point-of-care health diagnostics is rapidly advancing1. Colorimetric biosensor applications are typically qualitative, but recently the focus has been shifted to quantitative measurements2,3. Although numerous qualitative point-of-care (POC) health diagnostic devices are available, the challenge exists of developing a quantitative colorimetric array reader system that complies with the ASSURED (Affordable, Sensitive, Specific, User-friendly, Rapid and Robust, Equipment-free, Deliverable to end-users) principles of the World Health Organization4. This paper presents a battery powered 8-bit tonal resolution colorimetric sensor circuit for paper microfluidic assays using low cost photo-detection circuitry and a low-power LED light source. A colorimetric 3×3-pixel array reader was developed for rural environments where resources and personnel are limited. The device sports an ultralow-power E-ink paper display. The colorimetric device includes integrated GPS functionality and EEPROM memory to log measurements with geo-tags for possible analysis of regional trends. The device competes with colour intensity measurement techniques using smartphone cameras, but proves to be a cheaper solution, compensating for the typical performance variations between cameras of different brands of smartphones. Inexpensive methods for quantifying bacterial assays have been shown using desktop scanners, which are not portable, and cameras, which suffer severely from changes in ambient light in different environments. Promising colorimetric detection results have been demonstrated using devices such as video cameras5, digital colour analysers6, flatbed scanners7 or custom portable readers8. The major drawback of most of these methods is the need for specialized instrumentation and for image analysis on a computer.

The NHS needs GP leaders who are driven more by patient centred values than by government targets

This paper presents a location-aware mobile application for breastfeeding mothers in Thailand, Moommae. Moommae app utilizes locations of breastfeeding rooms and breastfeeding activities in Thailand using the app users' GPS sensors on mobile phones to address some breastfeeding challenges. An aspect of support for breastfeeding mothers comes in the form of public and private breastfeeding areas. However, locating breastfeeding rooms in Thailand has not been an easy task. In this application, users' locations are used in location-based searches for breastfeeding rooms, submissions of new breastfeeding rooms, and as a demand measurement for breastfeeding rooms. Moommae is now available as a mobile application on 2 platforms: iOS and Android.
