Sustainable development and raising the domestic value-added rate of exports (DVARE) have become essential priorities in the pursuit of high-quality economic growth. An econometric spatial model is developed in this research using data on Chinese enterprises spanning 2008 to 2019. According to a study, exports' domestic value-added rate (DVAR) can be successfully increased using environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices. Spatial spillover analysis demonstrates that adopting ESG practices boosts export DVAR both within and between regions. According to heterogeneity analysis, the sample's overall increase in DVARE as a result of ESG practices is mostly attributable to the mix and processing trade organizations, the eastern area, and large firms. An examination of the underlying mechanisms shows that businesses that implement advanced technologies are able to reinforce the favorable impact of ESG practices on DVARE. This article gives evidence from real-world studies that show how ESG practices help boost Chinese exports and advance sustainable development. The present research evaluates the effect of technological innovation distribution on the distribution of income using data from between 1992Q1 and 2019Q4 for the BRICS-T (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, and Turkey) nations. The BRICS-T nations present a good case for this research since this problem could be more widespread in developing countries with high prospects for economic growth. The quantile causality and quantile-on-quantile regression techniques have been used to evaluate this association. The research findings provide a range of outcomes from different countries, which can be grouped into three categories; (i) Technological innovation impacts income inequality positively. (ii) Technological innovation distribution impacts income inequality distribution negatively. (iii) The effects of technology innovation on income distribution are not evenly distributed. Significant policy ramifications are deduced that might inspire sustainable development plans in the BRICS-T nations. This research is one of the first studies to demonstrate a direct connection between income inequality and technological innovation across various quantiles within a country. In Global South river basins, urbanization, population growth and demand for resources linked to economic growth pose multiple challenges, compounded by the crises of climate change. For Global South countries, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals are opportunities to combine integrated strategies tackling their environmental sustainability and socioeconomic development issues. This opinion article introduces the new concept of internetization as a modern tool for bridging the economic disparity between the Global North and the Global South. It provides a blueprint for promoting sustainable development and enhancing economic growth in the Global South. Indeed, internetization has emerged as an essential prerequisite and a core enabler towards sustainable development for the developing countries of the Global South. In this regard, this article proposes a new conceptual framework that is anchored in internetization for the purpose of accelerating economic growth and promoting sustainable development in the Global South. The study examines the link between fiscal expenditure and green economic development in heavily polluting Asian nations. The conventional wisdom that environmental sustainability and economic progress are incompatible is contested in this research. The study found a strong positive link between green fiscal policy and long-term economic development, offering empirical support for using fiscal policy to promote green growth. With an emphasis on high-pollution sectors like manufacturing and energy, the study used sophisticated econometric approaches, such as panel data regression and Granger causality tests, to evaluate the data from a few Asian nations. The findings supported the idea that increased government investment in environmental protection programs and eco-friendly technology positively impacted green economic development. The results also highlight how governmental actions influence economic trajectories and aid in the shift to a sustainable economy. The report emphasizes the need for cross-level and cross-sector policy coordination, arguing that achieving significant green economic development with comprehensive, well-integrated green fiscal policies would be more straightforward. The study also highlights the need for international collaboration and assistance while acknowledging possible restrictions on fiscal expenditure in emerging nations. Policymakers, environmental economists, and other stakeholders who want to transition to a green economy while pursuing economic growth and development should take these conclusions seriously. Currency devaluation is a standout amongst the most emotional even awful proportions of financial strategy that a legislature may attempt It generally creates cries of shocks and Sustainable economic growth and development is undoubtly, one of the most challenging development issue, nowadays, in the developing countries Therefore, this study investigates theoretically and empirically the impact of currency devaluation on economic growth of Pakistan The study finds evidence of non-linearity in this relationship and capture that through a smooth transition regression model. Using annual data for the period 1975-2018, employing ARDL bounds test. From an evaluation of the overall analysis and results, it is concluded that foreign exchange reserves have positive and significant short run effect for all the countries. Inflation has negative and significant effect on economic growth of all the countries while real exchange rate has also positive and significant effect on economic growth. The government spending on development has positive and significant effect in short run scenario for all the selected countries while the money growth have positive and negative but significant effect on different countries depending on the political situation and economy based on agrarian product or industrial products. The results of this study confirm the finding of most previous study, since the advent of the exogenous growth theory. The study suggests that all the variables e.g. inflation, foreign exchange reserves, real exchange rate, money growth and government spending could be effectual in these augmenting economies. Sustainable development goals (SDG) incorporate multiple dimensions to measure the progress made by nations in consolidating their economic and human development. Consequently, the main objective of this study is to explore the structures of variation and covariation between the SDGs indicators interpreting and describing their current status by countries and regions of the world. This study assessed 40 SDG indicators reported by 125 countries in the 2021 Sustainable Development Report, using the HJ-Biplot multivariate technique, through which it is possible to analyze the existing relationships between indicators and countries in a multidimensional way. The results indicate that the global North countries currently display solid sustainability characteristics that favor economic growth, though more work is required to protect the environment and promote responsible production and consumption. On the other hand, the countries of the global South with less purchasing power must still work on policies and strategies to promote the health and well-being of their populations, enable access to essential household services (water, sanitation, electricity, and internet, among others), and promote equality. This article provides a critical review of the relationship between the Environmental Performance Index (EPI), financial development, and economic growth. The study finds that environmental performance and sustainability are important for economic growth in industrialized countries, while sustainable financial systems and renewable energy can promote economic growth in developing nations. Government policies such as carbon costs and taxes, technology transfer programs, and green trade policies are crucial for sustainable economic growth. Trade globalization contributes to global economic growth and reduces poverty levels, but policymakers should prioritize environmental performance and sustainability in their economic policies. It is important to consider CO2 emissions and energy consumption when addressing climate change. Developing countries may face technological limitations when transitioning to renewable energy sources. The relationship between environmental performance, financial development, and economic growth in developing countries is complex and varies depending on the specific country and time frame. Policymakers should prioritize settling carbon costs and taxes, commercializing low-CO2 emissions technologies, reducing subsidies for nonrenewable energy, providing technology transfer programs, and creating a green trade policy to achieve sustainable development. Renewable energy and energy efficiency can support sustainable economic development and reduce CO2 emissions in developing countries, but effective policies and investments in green technology are needed to balance economic and environmental sustainability goals. Achieving environmental sustainability has become a global concern amidst increasing climate change threat. Using quarterly frequency data for the case of Russia from 1992 to 2018, the present study explores the interaction between disaggregated energy consumption (renewable energy and non-renewable energy), trade flow and economic growth on a broader measure for environmental degradation (ecological footprint). The choice of the variables draws strength from initiative of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDG, 7, 8 11 and 13) for responsible energy consumption and clean energy consumption while mitigating climate change issues. The study applied the quantile-on-quantile regression (QQR) and nonparametric causality-in-quantiles to capture these associations. The outcomes from the QQR disclosed that in the majority of the quantiles, trade openness and renewable energy use contribute to environmental sustainability, while nonrenewable energy amplifies ecological footprint. Furthermore, growth in Russia escalates its ecological footprint. Moreover, in the majority of the quantiles, all the exogenous variables can predict ecological footprint. Given the outcomes of this study, it outlines the need for a paradigm shift for alternative and clean energy consumption in Russian energy mix amidst its economic growth trajectory while accounting for green-development approaches. Some advanced countries' rapid population, economic growth, and energy consumption expansion contribute significantly to global CO2 emissions. And while developed countries have achieved 100% universal access to electricity, mainly from non-renewable sources, many developing countries still lack it. This presents challenges and opportunities for achieving the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 7 and 13 of generating all energy from cleaner or low-carbon sources to reduce CO2 emissions in all countries and combating climate change consequences. Renewable energies have been widely acknowledged to greatly advance this endeavour, resulting in many studies and about 30 countries already with over 70% of their national electricity mix from RE. It has birthed a new paradigm and an emerging field of 100% RE for all purposes, recently receiving much attention from academia and in public discourse. The major challenge with this idea is that achieving such a feat requires a more diverse approach. This study emphasises the need to meet technical and non-technical requirements for working towards a 100% RE for all purposes. Therefore, our work introduces six methodological or evaluation mechanisms (herein, identified as 100% RE evaluation metrics) suitable for existing and future 100% renewable energy analysis. It then reviews energy modelling tools to identify their applicability to 100% RE analysis. The review and perspectives presented in this study will be valuable in developing a common integrated methodology and modelling tool for analysing full renewable energy adoption in countries or regions with best trade-offs, using performance indices that have not been previously used. Developing nations aim to industrialize and grow sustainably often ignoring the environmental consequences. However, few empirical studies have looked at the influence of industrialization-driven economic transition on carbon footprint in developing nations using a non-parametric approach. In this milieu, on the ground of Kaya's identity and the novel multivariate quantile-on-quantile regression (QQR) (extension of Sim and Zhou's (2015) bivariate QQR model), the present research studies the impact of industrial value-added (IGVA), population, energy intensity, and carbon intensity on CO2 emissions in India. This study is one of the first in the literature to evaluate the industrialization-carbonization nexus in the context of Kaya's identity for the Indian economy utilizing an innovative multivariate QQR approach, which makes a methodological and empirical addition to the literature. The outcomes of the multivariate QQR technique demonstrate that economic and environmental development requires continual long-run strategies. The empirical findings revealed that there is no authentication that India's carbon emissions increased due to its industrialization, which exhibited that IGVA has a negative and significant connection with CO2 emissions. In some quantiles, population size positively impacts CO2 emissions. On the other hand, carbonization in the Indian economy is asymmetrically affected by GDP per capita and energy and carbon intensity. The quantile Granger causality study further supported the aforementioned results. An extensive economic growth mode leads to resource depletion and environmental degradation. Green development is the best way to solve this problem. We analyzed the sample data of 41 cities in the Yangtze River Delta of China from 2007 to 2019. We used the spatial Durbin model and interaction term model to study the effects of regional financial agglomeration (FA) on green development and the moderating role of green technology innovation. The results show that FA promotes local green development but inhibits the green development of neighboring areas. Because the polarization effect of the growth pole is greater than its dispersion effect, cities with high levels of FA have a strong "siphon effect" on the surrounding areas. Green technology innovation positively moderates the promoting effect of FA on green development; the higher the level of green technology innovation and the degree of emphasis on it, the stronger the promoting effect. The government should encourage green finance to promote green technology innovation and promote the green development of the regional economy. This study analyzes material footprint (MF), which can be essential in achieving net zero emission targets and sustainable development goals for EURO-26 countries. Increasing the efficiency of MF rather than domestic material consumption is more effective in reducing emissions. Therefore, this study examines the relationship between MF, economic growth, and CO2 emissions for EURO-26 countries. For empirical analysis, second-generation panel cointegration tests and long-term coefficient estimators, which consider the cross-sectional dependence, are employed. The empirical results indicate that (i) there is a long-term relationship between the variables and (ii) MF increases the CO2 emissions. However, the positive relationship between economic growth and CO2 emissions is statistically insignificant. According to the individual results, while the impact of MF on CO2 emissions is negative in developed countries, MF increases CO2 emissions in developing countries in general. Overall findings reveal that long-term material footprint strategies should be implemented in EURO-26 countries and material footprint policies can be used as a strategic tool to achieve net zero emission targets and sustainable development goals (SDGs). The BRICS comprise of group of emerging market economies which are committed to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals agenda of the United Nations by the end of the year 2030. In this regard, it is critically important for these nations to sustain their annual rise in their economic growth rates while simultaneously declining the rate of discharge of carbon dioxide emissions. Against this backdrop, this study aims to investigate how financial development, greater primary energy consumption, and technological innovation affect the prospects of the BRICS nations in achieving economic and environmental sustainability. Considering the period from 1990 to 2020 and utilizing methods that are robust to working with cross-sectionally dependent, heterogeneous, and endogenous panel data, the key analytical findings derived in this study reveal that higher levels of financial development, primary energy consumption, and technological innovation boost the per capita economic growth rates of the BRICS nations. Besides, technological innovation also moderates the financial development–economic growth and the primary energy consumption–economic growth nexuses by jointly boosting economic growth rates with these two macroeconomic variables. On the other hand, financial development and higher primary energy consumption are seen to boost the annual per capita carbon dioxide emission growth in these emerging nations, while technological innovation is observed to do the opposite. Furthermore, technological innovation is witnessed to moderate the nexus between energy use and economic growth to further reduce the emission growth rate in the BRICS nations. Sustainable development cannot be achieved in a society with substantial inequalities in development between rural and urban regions. Sustainability in terms of environmental and human well-being can be attained by applying ecological livability. Agriculture, rural areas, and farmers are crucial for developing countries and their populations. Literature on rural innovation is becoming more neglected as the need for rural regeneration develops. This paper suggests structural equation modeling based on sustainable rural development (SEM-SRD) to build an SRD index system with a universal value based on the interplay between ecological livability and SRD. There are two aspects to sustainable rural development (SRD): ecological sustainability and living sustainability in rural areas. Any country can use a comprehensive quantitative tool to assess its SRD status using the SRD index method. When it comes to environmental sustainability and garbage disposal, the former is green, and the latter is social. With the SRD index method, any nation can utilize a comprehensive quantitative tool to evaluate its SRD status. New perspectives for achieving rural revitalization, antipoverty, and global sustainable development can be gained through the rural innovation system suggested in this paper, which directly adds to the literature in this field. Research shows that agricultural eco-efficiency is substantially greater than rural economic growth, which has a considerable impact on overall rural development, as shown by the findings. For a long time, there has been a huge disparity in the economic growth of different regions of the country. The efficiency of rural development continues to increase with time. The experimental result of the suggested method enhances the inadequate management of RES development, rural development ratio, stability ratio, productivity ratio, and loss of growth in the rural area. After the rapid economic growth through reform and opening-up over 40 years, Chinese governments are seeking transformation for high-quality and sustainable development currently. Regional economic development is related to internal and external environments as well as local government’s character behaviors. Employing Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Consciousness-Context-Behavior (CCB) theory, we construct a theoretical framework to measure the relationships between regional development environment (RDE), local government’s character behavior (LGCB), and regional sustainable capability (RSC). We collect the data of 30 provinces in mainland China from 2001 to 2020 to conduct hypothesis testing and empirical analysis. The results show that both RDE and LGCB are associated with RSC, and LGCB significantly mediates the relationship between RDE and RSC. However, the effects of different RDE elements on RSC are heterogeneous. Our study enriches regional sustainable development theory. It arouses us to better understand LGCB and attach importance to the roles of RDE and LGCB in regional sustainability. The enlightenment is important to global developing countries. The sustainable development goal is a match towards revamping the economy of nations. Nigeria embarks on the journey of economic redemption. It is expected that, as with the sustainable development goals, national governments will develop their own action plans that emphasize or deemphasize various goals depending on the local situation. Be that as it may, a country like Nigeria needs literate citizens, citizens who are ready to commit themselves to the use of libraries, access relevant information and digest this information for the benefit of all and to ensure a steady economic growth hence, the need to promote the reading culture of the citizens through the use of libraries and access to information. The growth of libraries in evolving information and cultural environment is essential, as key stakeholders providing access to information, education and research, and social participation. If access to information and libraries are not included, it is more than a missed opportunity. It is incumbent on the government to take the libraries seriously and fund them to provide public access, information and skills if it must make its mark in the golden frame of sustainable development of the economy. The production of services and goods needs consumption of available material and energy. An economy often focuses on sources of high-quality material/energy first produced by nature for increasing growth. World heritages sites (WHSs) have become major tourist attractions that promote economic development for developing countries. The increased number of tourists has thus brought about threats to ecological environment. Scholars stress that it should be sustainable or "green growth" since it comes to economic growth currently. The aim of this research is to establish a sustainable development model for WHSs to empirically investigate the dilemma between economic development and ecological protection with particular emphasis on strategies that promote the sustainability. The study took China's 45 WHSs as samples and constructed a two-stage sustainable development model to analyze the trade-off between economic development and ecological protection. The dynamic network slacks-based measure was employed for dynamic performance evaluation for the period 2013-2019. The results suggest that a strong balance between economic development and ecological protection would be essential for sustainability. Spearman's rank correlation was also used to verify that there are no conflicts between the two processes. In addition, this study demonstrates that an effective government policy covering regulations of economic development and ecological protection can positively influence sustainable development. The governments are suggested to improve the section that the WHS performs inefficient. Involvement of balanceable sustainable development for WHSs needs necessary cooperation during concerned institutions, practitioners, and communities. This study explored the relationship between population aging and economic growth in 74 developing countries between 1990 and 2019, highlighting the vital role of older workers (as measured by labor force participation of older people) in the national economy. A static panel estimator was used to examine the relationship between population aging, labor force participation of older people and economic growth. Results showed a negative association between population aging and economic growth, but the inverse relationship was mitigated by the labor force participation of older people. This indicates that the marginal impact of population aging on economic growth depends on the labor force participation of older people. The mitigating role of labor force participation of older people remained robust in a series of robustness checks. This study provides some policy recommendations to raise the labor force participation of older people to reduce the negative impact of population aging on economic growth. Energy is pivotal for sustainable economic growth. Undoubtedly, the role of the composition of the export basket (measured as economic complexity) is one of the crucial variables influencing energy consumption. Despite its importance, the existing body of literature does not intensively study the relationship between economic complexity and total energy consumption. Therefore, this study's primary aim was to examine the effect of economic complexity on energy consumption in a case study of 21 developed and 44 developing countries for the period 1971–2014. In this context, economic complexity expresses the level of sophistication of a country's export basket. This paper considers energy prices and income as explanatory variables in Durbin‐H panel cointegration analysis and applies a cointegration test with structural breaks to check for the long‐run relationships. For the long‐run estimations, we employ the augmented mean group method and dynamic seemingly unrelated regression. The findings reveal that economic complexity increases energy consumption in developing countries while it decreases energy consumption in developed countries. This is an important insight for countries concerned about their energy dependence. The diversification of their production and export baskets can reduce energy needs. Purpose: This paper takes a critical view of synergies and trade-offs and discloses the practices that countries and companies should apply to achieve sustainable development. Design/methodology/approach: This paper offers a systematic literature review of 408 papers to find models of sustainable development goals (SDGs) interaction with the aim of shedding light on the existing synergies and trade-offs and finding solutions to enhance these synergies and minimize the trade-offs. Findings: Both rich and developing countries should follow multiple strategies to improve the quality of life of their citizens. Developing countries should focus on eradicating poverty. Rich countries should apply new economic models that are more likely to be environmental-friendly. Finally, the topic of SDGs should be revisited by the United Nations. Practical implications: Boosting the quality of education and providing clean energy are two of the most relevant actions that should to be taken by countries, as they will accelerate the fulfilment of all the other SDGs. The use of circular economic models or new business models, such as the sharing economy, is essential to the achievement of sustained economic growth without negative environmental impact. In a previous essay (Part 1), we examined the economic arguments for development policies that placed certain groups at the vanguard of development policy, making note of the place of the poor in these arguments. In this essay (Part 2), we look at the case for making the poor the central focus of development policy, following the principle in Catholic social thought of the "preferential option for the poor." That principle recommends evaluation of policies and outcomes first and foremost on how they affect the poor. In looking at the U.N. development agenda, from the first development decade to the millennium development goals and sustainable development goals, we can see a tension between economic growth and eradication of poverty. Over time, a shift in focus has occurred towards placing the poor at the center of development policy. By focusing on the poor and poverty eradication, development policy becomes more about human flourishing, which, ironically, produces higher levels of growth in developing countries. This research paper examines the causal relationships among carbon dioxide emissions, economic growth, and renewable and non-renewable energy consumption, for a panel of 68 developing countries over the period 1990 − 2014. We use the multivariate panel cointegration framework and apply a battery of conventional (Pedroni 1999, 2004; and Kao 1999) as well as newly developed methodologies accounting for heterogeneity and cross-sectional correlation (Westerlund's ECM panel cointegration (2007) and panel bootstrap cointegration (2007) tests). The pooled mean group (PMG), mean group (MG), and dynamic fixed effects (DFE) methodologies were further applied to trace out the short-run dynamics. The results support evidence of significant dynamic linkages among the involved variables and reveal possible differences in the magnitude of the impacts from renewable and non-renewable energy consumption on environmental quality. The issue of distinguishing by source and determining the magnitude of the detected effects could provide valuable information for a sustainable economic and environmental development, substantially helping policy makers to designate more efficient policy measures. Considering the need for environmental sustainability while ensuring economic growth and development by 2030, this study uses data on 123 developed and developing countries to examine factors that influence green growth. The empirical results show that economic development positively influences green growth. However, trade openness is detrimental to green growth. Regarding energy-related factors, we find energy consumption negatively affecting green growth, but renewable energy consumption significantly improves green growth. In further analysis, we find that the influence of these factors differs between developed and developing countries. The result implies that countries at a different development level will require different strategies in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in 2030. Access to modern energy features prominently in current development agendas that particularly pertain to underdeveloped communities, and in scientific work. Specifically, this relates to sustainable development (SD) concerns, where holistic attention is sought for economic growth, environmental soundness and social progress. There is, however, much more emphasis on energy access than in SD impacts that the energy is designed to achieve. As a result, much is done to make the energy available, but there is little manifestation of resultant SD impacts. In this article, it is therefore argued that a rethinking of modern or sustainable energy access is needed, especially in a community-based development sense. Economic growth in developing countries provides an opportunity to accelerate progress towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). However, in reality, the number of people living in extreme poverty remains unacceptably high. Utilising the experiences of 34 developing countries for the period 2009 to 2016, the role of microfinance on poverty in these countries is examined. The results imply that the degree to which the existing forms of microfinance effectively reduce extreme poverty is less workable in developing countries, particularly when the hardcore poor are likely being deprived of receiving access to microfinance. It is suggested that governments may need to revise the structure and strategy of microfinance to be more hardcore poor oriented. The hardcore poor have needs beyond pure monetary assistance. In the expansion of volumes of industrial production, there is an increase of anthropogenic influence and deterioration of the external environment that became the reason for the impossibility of a functioning market system without taking into account negative externalities. The article considers the directions and principles of a "green economy" functioning as the basis for further development of society. The current state and trends of the impact of environmental factors on other indicators of quality of life have been analysed and comparative analysis has been made on the example of developed and developing countries. Effective indices and instruments of influence on the level of ecological and economic development and main tendencies and problems arising at the introduction of "green economy", have been considered. The use of indicators that take into account negative externalities, such as the Pigouvian tax, has been demonstrated to be more visible than widely used indices. The losses from the negative impact on the resulting economic indicators have been analysed, and a significant decrease in the per capita GDP level has been proved with the extensive development of the economy. Implications for Central European audience: This paper aims to contribute to the development of a green economy as part of a policy aimed at reducing environmental risks in the process of economic growth. The proposed indicators and tools for influencing the level of environmental and economic development arising from the implementation of the "green economy" as the main vector of sustainable development, which can be used further research and development and can be implemented by European companies. The economic potential of Kenya marine resources is critical for the socioeconomic development. The current study reports fisheries output from marine systems in Kenya as a priority for Blue Economy investment in order to rival the current production from inland systems as a trigger for sustainable development. The assessment of fish landings and economic value was based on Catch Assessment Surveys, cruises and secondary literature. Kenya's inland capture fisheries contributes about 83%, aquaculture 12%, and marine artisanal fisheries 5%. Lake Victoria that contributes up to 90% of inland capture fish production has shown decline in catches in the recent past and the trend indicates that the fishery may not be sustainable. The Kenya Exclusive Economic Zone has a coast line of about 647 km and an area of 142,000 km2 that constitutes about 42% of the country's surface area and has several commercially important species that are barely exploited; yet it produces a paltry 26,000 mt annually that is estimated at an export value of about USD 50 million. However, recent estimates have found that Kenya Exclusive Economic Zone could contain up to 2 million mt of fish that is valued at about USD 130 million. Furthermore, additional worth along the value chain and with substantial trickle-down effect that could have a positive impact on the Blue Growth in Kenya and other developing nations with oceanic potential – triggering the possibility for sustainable exploitation. The modern logistics industry has opened new strategic perspectives in establishing its interrelation with economic growth. In recent years, understanding such an overlap has become a policy issue considering ever-increasing factors and their influence on this relation. Most existing studies have explored this interaction from a general perspective, or for developed countries. This paper explores time-series analysis of the dynamic variables and their inter-related influence in both the short and long run on the relationship between modern logistic industry and economic growth—a more specific perspective, particularly for developing countries. Accordingly, we exemplify our analysis by employing the vector autoregression (VAR) model to the most updated time series data of investment in the logistics industry and the economic growth of Pakistan from 1990 to 2018. The empirical findings endorse the previous studies' outcomes and recognize the importance of sustainable economic development concerning continuously improving the logistics industry. However, a unidirectional relation is observed that economic growth leads to developing the logistics industry—economic growth exerts a significant demand-pull effect on Pakistan's logistics. It implies that logistic industrial development is comparatively quicker in the geographical areas where economic growth is higher than those areas where economic growth is low. To conclude this study's findings, logistics industry reforms should prioritize the selected geographical areas in improving the economy that would lead to the modern logistics industry's development. As the model adopts Pakistan's context, the overall statistical analysis can be generalized to other developing economies. These results would be of particular interest to strategy makers working in developing countries and help them design and develop modern transportation and logistics, coupled with interlinked technological factors, which would attract investment in the logistics industry for sustainable economic development. This study develops and validates a comprehensive mechanism for evaluating the effect of zakat (obligatory alms‐giving) on reducing poverty and attaining some of the prominent Sustainable Development Goals. The study unconventionally analyzes the effect of macrolevel data on microlevel data on district level of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Microlevel data are utilized from a renowned national survey, Pakistan Social and Living Standards Measurement Survey (PSLM) from which the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) has been computed, whereas the macrolevel data have been collected from Zakat & Usher Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Based on the nature of nested data set, we have used a multilevel model to counter intra‐class correlation. The findings confirmed and validated that the novel aspect of the zakat negatively affects the multidimensional poverty and portray significant contribution in targeting several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Pakistan. Based on the empirical evidence, Zakat being as an obligatory arm which equips individuals to fulfill their necessities, this paper suggests necessary strategies toward zakat disbursement. The mechanism should be refined to stimulate economic growth and pursue SDGs via financial empowerment of less advantaged class of society by reducing poverty in developing countries like Pakistan. Moreover, the methodology adopted in the study opens doors for more enabling and conducive research practices in order to decompose the results and design policies accordingly. Poverty alleviation has been positioned high on the international development agenda following the adoption of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in 2000. African countries initiated various missions to establish sustained economic growth by increasing productivity with an ultimate goal of poverty reduction. The significance of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in poverty reduction and employment generation is widely acknowledged. Despite the high failure rate amongst SMEs, particularly in the African context, some are striving with excellent results and are demonstrating signs of growth, innovation and sustainability. This paper explores the development of SMEs as a strategic measure for job creation in sub-Saharan Africa. It examines the role of SMEs in achieving sustainable employment in Africa. This study will benefit governments in Africa, getting them to focus on the development of the SMEs, and guiding them on how best to integrate SME development to achieve poverty alleviation. The recommendations proposed in this study may be helpful in policy formulation, business operation and regulatory practice for sustainable growth and development in the sub-Saharan African context. Exploiting new resource “frontiers,” such as agricultural land and mineral reserves, is a fundamental feature of economic development in poor economies. Yet frontier-based development is symptomatic of a pattern of economy-wide resource exploitation in developing economies that: (a) generates little additional economic rents, and (b) what rents are generated are not being reinvested in other sectors. Such development is inherently unsustainable. The following paper explains this phenomenon, and provides evidence that long-run expansion of agricultural land and oil and natural gas proved reserves across poor economies is associated with lower levels of real income per capita. The paper proposes a frontier expansion hypothesis to explain why the structural economic dependence of these economies on frontier land expansion and resource exploitation is not conducive to sustained long-run growth. The key to sustainable economic development in poor economies will be improving the economic integration between frontier and other sectors of the economy, targeting policies to improved resource management in frontier areas and overcoming problems of corruption and rent-seeking in resource sectors. In the case of developing countries, it is not clear which crisis management tools will ensure sustainable development in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way, as well as reducing CO2 emissions in addition to ensuring GDP growth. The next analysis discusses the details of this issue. The study explores the connection between per capita GDP, emission of CO2, combustible energy, and waste consumption. The Hausman test ratifies that the regression model with the fixed effect is the proper method for the panel balanced data from 1990 to 2019 in the selected 13 countries of the EU. This study ordered the data into three categories (for 13 selected countries, the top nine EU countries (in GDP), and Visegrad countries (Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Poland)). The study found a significant positive effect of combustible energy and waste consumption and the negative impact of CO2 emission on GDP per capita. The cointegration test confirms that all three variables are cointegrated. This implies a long-term link among all three variables in the context of all three types of the selected panel. The Granger causality results ensure that there is a two-way cause–effect relation between the variables. The study strongly recommends that developed European Union countries (the top nine EU countries) increase energy production from biomass-based renewable energy and waste to stimulate economic growth. The same strategy was not recommended in the Visegrad countries because of the much lower GDP growth due to the N-shaped Kuznets curve. In these countries, it is advisable to avoid unexpected increases in CO2 emissions from biomass and fossil fuel-burning, to achieve greenhouse gas reductions using other circular, platform-based models instead of simple biomass energy production. Due to the low level of energy efficiency and the lack of application of technological innovation, the energy use of biomass can significantly slow down GDP growth in less developed EU countries (such as the V4 countries). This article reports on the results of an international study of the managerial and institutional interventions associated with relatively successful economic development programs from developing countries. The important role played by managerial/organizational variables in project/ program performance has always been recognized by development planners and policymakers, but has been a neglected area of observation and study. As a result, basic understanding of how these variables operate and interact in the public context and the people's ability to design and implement institutional interventions appropriate to the conditions in the developing world have not improved significantly in spite of three decades of development planning and programming.
