Aim: To explore predictors of spiritual well‐being behaviors among heart failure patients based on Wilson and Cleary's conceptual model of health‐related quality of life and to clarify the interrelationships among these variables. Design: A descriptive and correlational study design was used. Methods: This study included 202 heart failure patients treated between October 2020 and July 2021. Data were collected using the Symptom Status Questionnaire‐Heart Failure, Perception of Health Scale, and Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy‐Spiritual Well‐Being Scale. Descriptive analysis, correlation, and structural equation modeling were performed. Results: Characteristic factors positively affected spiritual well‐being both directly (β = 0.19, p = 0.007) and indirectly (β = 0.19; CI (0.106; 0.311)). The direct relationship between health perception and spiritual well‐being was significant (β = 0.83, p < 0.05). Symptom status acted as an essential mediator between model variables and spiritual well‐being (β = −0.28; CI (−0.449; −0.133)). Comorbidity and symptom status also influence spiritual well‐being through health perceptions. These variables explain 77% of the variance in spiritual well‐being. Conclusion: The modified structural equation modeling based on Wilson and Cleary's conceptual model fits well in predicting spiritual well‐being in patients with heart failure. Spiritual well‐being was reported to be poor, and changes in spiritual well‐being were predicted by age, educational level, marital status, comorbidity, symptom status, and health perception. The results can be applied to patients with heart failure and may serve as a guide for assessment and interventions for improving spiritual well‐being. Clinical Relevance: This study mainly concludes that symptom status and perceived health status affect spiritual well‐being in heart failure patients. Symptom relief and improvement in perceived health status interventions may help enhance spiritual well‐being in this population. Future studies are needed to investigate the different predictor's effects on spiritual well‐being and examine whether symptom management and health status‐enhancing interventions result in improved spiritual well‐being in the heart failure population. Gynecological examination has an very place among to maintain women's health. Negative attitudes and anxiety about gynecological examination may affect coming to the examination. In this study, we aimed to determine the effect of online training and counseling on women's attitudes and anxiety toward the gynecological examination. We randomized 100 women participating in the study into experimental and control groups. We concluded that online training and counseling had a positive effect on the attitudes of women in the experimental group toward gynecological examination. Also we determined that online training and counseling reduced women's state anxiety toward gynecological examinations. In this study, we determined that online training and counseling positively improved women's attitudes toward gynecological examination. We also found that online training and counseling reduced women's state anxiety about gynecological examinations. In the literature, most of the studies on gynecological examination have a descriptive design. This study is important since it contributes to scientific knowledge in determining the attitudes and anxiety levels of women that may affect their status of undergoing gynecological examination. The aim of the study is to examine the relationship between spiritual well-being, prenatal stress and attachment level of Turkish women conceiving spontaneously or with assisted reproductive techniques (ART). The comparative descriptive study type was conducted between November 2021 and June 2022 with 202 pregnant women, including 87 women conceiving with ART and 115 women conceiving spontaneously, who applied for routine prenatal care checkup in a state hospital in the west of Turkey. Both groups have a high level of spiritual well-being. Pregnant women in the ART group experience higher prenatal distress (9.6% for spontaneous, 12.6% for ART, p = 0.487) and low level of attachment (69.72 ± 7.98 for spontaneous, 66.24 ± 8.88 for ART, p = 0.006) compared to the other group. Additionally, as insufficient partner involvement in the prenatal process increases in pregnant women in both groups, prenatal attachment decreases. Background: The prevalence of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) remains high worldwide in today's society, especially among young people. Youth education on STDs could help to reduce the prevalence of the condition in society and prevent new cases. Aim: The aim of this study is to assess the effectiveness of peer‐based short‐form educational videos on youths' knowledge of STDs. Methods: This quasi‐experimental study was conducted in Turkey. The sample consisted of 121 students divided into experimental and control groups. Pre‐ and post‐test control group quasi‐experimental research design was employed in this study during the spring semester of the academic year 2021–2022. Peer‐based short‐form educational videos created by nursing students were used as an intervention. The survey form and Sexually Transmitted Disease Knowledge Questionnaire were used to collect data. Results: Participants with parental responsibilities and had previous STD experience had higher knowledge score than the other subgroups. There was a significant main effect of peer‐based short‐form educational video on participants overall knowledge score of STDs. Additionally, the effect of intervention continued at 12‐week follow‐up measurement. Conclusion: Peer‐based short‐form educational videos increase young people's knowledge of STD, and the impact of the intervention continued at 12‐week follow up. Sexually transmitted diseases continue to be prevalent in society, particularly among young people.Sexually transmitted diseases can lead to serious health conditions and have a significant impact on sexual and reproductive health.The effectiveness of internet‐based education and lectures on sexually transmitted diseases has already been investigated.Little research has been addressed to determine the impact of educational materials, which are short videos on knowledge of sexually transmitted diseases created by utilizing nursing students' peer assessment. Aim: Studies of the effects of COVID‐19, especially post‐acute COVID‐19 syndrome, on psychological health in non‐severe cases are limited. We aimed to evaluate the prevalence and associated risk factors of psychological symptoms, and quality‐of‐life in three groups of outpatients, hospitalized and intensive care patients. Methods: A total 276 patients, previously confirmed with SARS‐CoV‐2 infection, attending the COVID‐19 follow‐up outpatient clinic from December 2020 to July 2021 were interviewed face‐to‐face. In this cross‐sectional, retrospective study, all participants were asked our self‐designed demographic and screening questions to assess their psychological symptoms and administered the WHQOOL‐BREF survey to evaluate quality of life. Results: In screening questions, major depressive disorder symptoms were detected at a rate of 20.3%, generalized anxiety disorder symptoms at a rate of 16.7%, panic attack symptoms at a rate of 10.9%, post‐traumatic stress disorder symptoms at a rate of 28.6% and obsessive‐compulsive disorder symptoms at a rate of 18.1%. The outpatient group with COVID‐19 infection had a higher risk of developing psychological symptoms and decreased quality of life. Conclusion: COVID‐19 infection was found to have a considerable psychological impact on those treated as outpatients despite the less severe course of their illness. Post‐intensive care syndrome affects physical, cognitive and psychological health.It is associated with symptoms such as generalized weakness, memory disturbances, cognitive function impairment, depression, anxiety and post‐traumatic stress disorder.Some physical and psychological symptoms persist for over 12 weeks in some patients and have been classified as 'Post‐acute COVID‐19 Condition or Syndrome' (PCS). At the post‐acute‐COVID‐19 period, a considerable number of outpatients with COVID‐19 infection were at higher risk for psychological distress symptoms than those who had been treated in the hospital or intensive care unit.Depression, anxiety, panic disorder and PTSD symptoms were found to be higher in outpatients and those with these symptoms were also shown to have a lower quality of life.Our findings highlight the significant psychological impact of COVID‐19 on patients, even after their reported recovery from the acute manifestations of this disease. Background: A chronic autoimmune disease with an increasing incidence rate, type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) is typified by the degeneration of the pancreatic beta cells. Diabetes management is significantly impacted by nutrition. Although it has been demonstrated that following the Mediterranean diet (MD) improves metabolic control with type 2 diabetes in children and adults, its effects on children with T1DM have not received much attention. Objective: Therefore, the purpose of this study was to assess whether adherence to Mediterranean diet is associated with better metabolic control and body composition in youths with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus. The study recruited T1DM patients aged 6-18 years at İstanbul University Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty Hospital's Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes Outpatient Clinic for follow-up. Methods: In addition to demographic variables, some anthropometric measurements, body composition and biochemical parameters such as: Trygliceride(TG), Total cholesterol (TC), High density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), Low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), (Aspartate aminotransferase) AST, Alanine transaminase (ALT) and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) was analyzed. The time in range (TIR) is a value obtained from continuous glucose monitoring. KIDMED was used to assess the participants' adherence with the MD. Results: Good adherence to the MD resulted in much larger height SDS than poor adherence. Poor adherence to MD resulted in higher body fat than moderate and good adherence. There is positivite correlation between TIR and KIDMED score. Adherence to MD is negatively associated with HbA1c. The regression anaylsis showed that a one-point rise in the KIDMED score would result in a 0.314-unit reduction in the HbA1c value (p < 0.01). Conclusions: In conclusion, this study found that adhering to MD led to improved anthropometric measurements, biochemistry, and diabetes outcomes. Purpose: The study was carried out to investigate the effect of motivational interviewing on peer bullying and cyberbullying among adolescents. Design: A parallel‐group randomized controlled trial. Methods: The study population consisted of ninth‐grade (aged 14 years) high school students (n = 200). The study was completed with 48 participants (intervention: 24; control: 24). The data were collected using the Participant Information Form, the Stages of Change Questionnaire, the Peer Bullying Scale, and the Cyberbullying Scale. The intervention group received a preparatory session and five weekly motivational interviewing sessions. Instruments were administered to both groups before the intervention, at the end of the last motivational interviewing session (post‐test), and at 3rd‐ and 6th‐month follow‐ups. The data were analyzed using chi‐square test, independent sample t‐test, and two‐way mixed‐design ANOVA with Bonferroni's test. Results: In the pre‐test, no statistically significant difference was observed between the intervention and control groups regarding mean scores for peer bullying and cyberbullying (p > 0.05). Following the motivational interviewing sessions, adolescents in the intervention group had a significantly lower mean score for peer bullying and cyberbullying than the control group at the post‐test and follow‐up tests (p < 0.001). Conclusion: The present study concluded that motivational interviewing effectively reduced peer bullying and cyberbullying behaviors among adolescents. OBJECTIVE: The aim of the study is to determine the tobacco use status of first and fifth grade students studying at Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine in the 2022-2023 academic year and to evaluate the factors affecting tobacco use. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The data of the cross-sectional study were obtained by sending a form prepared in electronic environment to the students after a brief information was given in the unit/classroom where they did their internship, and the students responded on their mobile phones. In research, 539 of 790 students answered the form. RESULTS: The prevalance of tobacco use was 34.1% (first: 29.8%, fifth: 40.8%) (female: 26.7%, male: 40.4%). According to multivariate analysis, tobacco use in first grades increases 1.8 times (95% CI: 1.1-3.3) if the general health perception is moderate/poor, 2.9 times (95% CI: 1.2-6.8) to be exposed to insistence of friends for tobacco use, 2.4 times (95% CI: 1.3-4.3) for at least one of the family members to use tobacco, 29.7 times (95% CI: 3.9-224.1) for at least one of the close friends to use tobacco, and 3.9 times (95% CI: 2.2-7.1) not to think that physicians should set an example for the society by not using tobacco; in fifth grade, tobacco use by at least one of the close friends increases 9.6 times (95% CI: 2.1-43.6), and not thinking that physicians should set an example for the society by not using tobacco increases 4.9 times (95% CI: 2.7-9.2). Although leisure constraints that individuals have to cope with can negatively affect their social inclusion and satisfaction with life, little research has addressed the link between these variables. Therefore, the current paper examined the moderator role of leisure constraints on the relationship between satisfaction with life and leisure constraints among adults living in five different European countries. The respondents were 1,382 women and 877 men adults. The findings of analysis revealed that all factors used in the study accounted for 15% of the variance in satisfaction with life and social inclusion had a significant and positive impact on satisfaction with life. As a result, it can be said that leisure constraints had a moderating effect on the relationship between satisfaction with life and social inclusion. Purpose: Early diagnosis of ovarian cancer (OC) increases survival rates; however, due to low awareness levels, women may be diagnosed with OC at the advanced stage. The aim of this cross‐sectional study is to reveal the OC awareness of Turkish women and affecting factors. Methods: Participants were invited to study via social media tools between February‐June 2022. Data was collected with Personal Information Form and the "OC Awareness Scale" from 446 women. Results: 81% of the participants did not recall OC symptoms, 80.8% recognized OC risk factors. The most frequently recalled and recognized OC symptom is pelvic pain (19.8%; 55.8%, respectively). The most frequently recalled and recognized OC risk factors were smoking (43.1%, 67.9%, respectively) and family history (39%, 58.7%, respectively). 2% of the participants felt very confident in recognizing the signs, 72.9% would seek help within 1–2 days when they recognized the signs of OC. Conclusions: The awareness of OC was higher among women who had advanced age, higher education, family history and were in menopause. Turkish women have low level of awareness and knowledge about OC symptoms and risk factors. There is an urgent need for an OC awareness campaign that takes into account the socio‐demographic characteristics of women. The results of the study may also guide strategies to prevent OC. To compare participation patterns, environmental supports, and barriers to community activities in adolescents with and without attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in Turkey. Participants were 94 adolescents with ADHD and 109 adolescents without ADHD ages 13-17 years (mean age 14.6, S.D 1.49 years) Participation frequency, involvement rate, mothers who desired change, and environmental supports and barriers in a community setting were assessed with the Participation and Environment Measure for Children and Youth (PEM-CY). Adolescents with ADHD participated 20.3% less frequently in socializing with peers in the community than adolescents without ADHD. With moderate to large effect sizes, the mean involvement rate in four community activities, including neighborhood outings, community events, socializing with peers in the community, and religious activities, was significantly lower for adolescents with ADHD than for adolescents without ADHD. Adolescents with ADHD participate less frequently and are less involved in socializing with peers in the community. Almost half of all ADHD adolescents never participate in community events. It was seen that cognitive difficulties, sensory qualities, and safety may prevent adolescents with ADHD from socializing with peers in the community. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: The novel coronavirus caused a disease that mainly affected the respiratory system. The effect of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 on the hypot halam ic–pi tuita ry–ad renal axis is unknown. This study assesses the prognostic accuracy of serum cortisol levels and prediction tools in predicting mortality rates in patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Methods: We prospectively analyzed 106 inpatients (53 COVID-19 positive, 53 non-COVID-19; mean 59.9 ± 17.3 years; 38 males and 68 females) with serum cortisol and adrenocorticotropic hormone levels compared with prognostic scores. Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE) II and Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) scores determined the disease’s severity. The predictive value of serum cortisol, APACHE, and SOFA on mortality was assessed using receiver operating characteristic curve analysis and the area under the curve (AUC). Results: No significant age or sex differences were found between groups. Serum cortisol levels were similar. The APACHE-II scores in the COVID-19 group were higher than in the other group, while SOFA scores showed no significant difference. The AUC for the APACHE-II score in predicting mortality was 0.765 (95% CI 0.672-0.842), with an optimal cutoff (>9) demonstrating 62.5% sensitivity and 86.7% specificity for overall participants. No correlation was found between serum cortisol levels and prediction tools such as APACHE-II and SOFA. Conclusion: The measurement of serum cortisol did not provide additional prognostic information beyond that established by the APACH-II score. The use of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) has been documented to be effective for improving pain and function, but it is unclear whether it helps improve muscle performance in musculoskeletal diseases. This study investigated the effects of IASTM combined with exercise therapy on muscle endurance and pain intensity in patients with chronic neck pain. Forty-eight individuals with chronic neck pain were randomly divided into exercise therapy (ET, n = 24) and combined therapy (CT, n = 24) groups. For 4 weeks, each group underwent exercise therapy 3 days a week for a total of 12 sessions. The ET group received exercise therapy only. The CT group received IASTM combined with exercise therapy twice per week for a total of 8 sessions. The muscle endurance of the participants was assessed with the Deep Neck Flexor Muscle Endurance (DNFE) test and pain intensity with Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) at baseline and post-treatment. While both groups showed significant improvement in pain intensity (p < 0.05), the CT group showed a greater effect size for pain (CT group: Cohen's d = 3.28; ET group: Cohen's d = 2.12). The CT group showed significant improvement for muscle endurance (p < 0.05), whereas the ET group did not (p > 0.05). In the current study, the IASTM intervention combined with ET improved pain and muscular endurance in participants with chronic neck pain compared to exercise therapy alone. As an alternative method, IASTM intervention before exercise seems to increase the short-term recovery effect in chronic neck pain conditions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: This study investigated the effect of lullabies and classical music on preterm neonates' cerebral oxygenation, vital signs, and comfort during orogastric (OG) tube feeding. Methods: This was a parallel-group pretest-posttest randomized controlled study. The research was conducted between December 2020 and May 2022. The sample consisted of 51 preterm neonates hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) of Selçuk University Faculty of Medicine Hospital in Konya, Türkiye. Participants were randomized into three groups (17 preterm infants in each group). The first group listened to lullabies sung by their mothers and the second group listened to classical music during OG tube feeding. The control group received routine care with no music. Data were collected using a Neonatal Identification Information Form, Physiological Parameters and rSO2 Monitoring Form, and the Newborn Comfort Behavior Scale (Comfort-Neo). The study was registered on the ClinicalTrials database (NCT05333575). Results: The lullaby group had stable peak heart rates and oxygen saturation levels (p =.002). Both lullaby and classical music groups had significantly higher cerebral oxygenation levels than the control group. The classical music group had the highest cerebral oxygenation level (p =.001). Both lullaby and classical music groups had significantly higher mean Comfort-Neo scores than the control group. The classical music group had the highest mean Comfort-Neo score (p =.040). Conclusion: Preterm neonates who listen to lullabies and classical music are likely to have higher cerebral oxygen and comfort levels. Listening to lullabies helps stabilize vital signs. To translate and culturally adapt the Diabetes Quality of Life Brief Clinical Inventory (DQoL-BCI) into Turkish and assess the psychometric properties of the translated version. A forward–backward translation process was conducted in conformity with international guidelines. A total of 150 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) completed the Turkish version of DQoL-BCI (DQoL-BCI-Tr). The factor structure, test–retest reliability, and construct validity were evaluated. In the DQoL-BCI-Tr, the three-factor structure was found optimal and explained 68.7% of the variance. The DQoL-BCI-Tr showed excellent internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha = 0.90) and test–retest reliability (ICC = 0.98). Cronbach's alpha values ranged from 0.85 to 0.91 for subscales (satisfaction, worry, impact). A negative correlation was found between the total scores of the DQoL-BCI-Tr and the EuroQoL-5 dimensions (EQ-5D) indexes (r= −0.22, p < 0.01). The DQoL-BCI-Tr total score and satisfaction and worry subscale scores differentiated between groups defined by glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c>9%) and the use of insulin. The study results showed that the DQoL-BCI-Tr can be served as a reliable and valid instrument to obtain information from Turkish patients with T2DM diagnosis, including satisfaction with treatment, the impact of the disease, and worry about the social/vocational issues. The Turkish version of the Diabetes Quality of Life Brief Clinical Inventory (DQoL-BCI) is a valid and reliable instrument. The DQoL-BCI Questionnaire in Turkish (DQoL-BCI-Tr) is an easy and quick way to determine satisfaction with treatment, impact of disease, and worry about the social/vocational issues. Objective Acute bronchiolitis (AB) is one of the most common respiratory diseases in early childhood and is still an important health problem worldwide. The systemic immune-inflammatory index (SII) is thought to have potential to be a new-generation inflammatory biomarker. We sought to investigate the value of SII for severity assessment in children with AB. Methods A total of 74 AB patients were included in a prospective observational study. Patients were classified into 3 AB groups according to this classification: mild (1-5 points), moderate (6-10 points), and severe (11-12 points). Complete blood count, C-reactive protein, and procalcitonin tests were carried out. Modified Tal score was evaluated to determine severity. The performance of parameters to predict the severity of AB was assessed using the receiver operating characteristic (ROC). Results Whereas neutrophil count (P =.037), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (P =.030), and SII (P =.030) values increased significantly with disease severity, red cell distribution width (P =.048) values were higher in the moderate AB group. The SII was found to have the highest area under the curve in the comparison of the mild-moderate groups combination and the high group on ROC analysis (P =.009). Conclusion The SII values of pediatric patients hospitalized with the diagnosis of AB were significantly higher in the high-severity group. This study was conducted to determine the relationship between violence, risk factors, and depression at the end of pregnancy. The sample of this descriptive and cross-sectional study consisted of 426 women for normal postpartum monitoring during the six-month period and living in southwestern Turkey of the study. About 5.6% of the women who participated in the study were exposed to obstetric violence. 5.2% of them were intimate partner violence before pregnancy. 79.1% (n = 24), 29.1%, and 25% of them were subjected to physical, sexual, and economic violence, respectively. In addition, 7.5% of women were exposed to verbal obstetric violence. It was found that the postpartum depression scores of the women who had been subjected to violence from their husbands before pregnancy were high. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this study, we aimed to examine and compare the perinatal outcomes between refugee and resident mother–infant dyads. Data of refugee women who had given birth in a university hospital (n = 924) and matched resident mother–infant dyads (n = 957) were included. Analysis revealed higher adolescent pregnancy rates and lower rates of antenatal care attendance among refugee mothers compared to residents. No significant differences in neonatal outcomes were found, except for a significantly higher number of preterm births among refugee infants. Objective: The aim was to evaluate autonomic dysfunction by investigating exercise time, the chronotropic index (CI), and heart rate recovery (HRR) during an exercise stress test (EST) in patients with primary adrenal insufficiency, also called Addison's disease (AD). Methods: Twenty-two patients with adrenal insufficiency and 25 healthy controls were included in this study. The data from the patients who underwent an EST were collected, analyzed, and reported. Results: The mean ages and genders of the patients with AD and the controls were insignificant. The baseline systolic and diastolic blood pressures (SBP and DBP) were significantly lower in the patients with AD compared to the controls before the EST. According to exercise-induced data, the SBP, DBP, and CI were insignificant for females and males between the groups. The exercise time, HRR1, and HRR2 were significantly decreased in the patients with AD compared to the controls. When the patients and controls were evaluated by gender, other than the HRR1 of the females, there were no differences between both genders. Additionally, a multiple logistic regression analysis showed that exercise time was independent and negatively related to the CI, HRR1, and HRR2 in the patients with AD. Conclusion: Exercise time and cardiac autonomic dysfunction in patients with AD may be related to mortality and morbidity. However, further studies and detailed analyses are needed on this subject. Objective: We aimed to evaluate the clinical significance of the “unclassified” blood pressure phenotypes on left ventricular hypertrophy in children. Materials and Methods: All children evaluated with ambulatory blood pressure monitoring in the pediatric nephrology department between October 2018 and January 2021 were included in the study. Prehypertension, normotensive, white coat hypertension, masked hypertension, ambulatory hypertension groups and 2 other groups including increased blood pressure load, normal ambulatory blood pressure measurements, but normal (unclassified group 1) or high (unclassified group 2) office blood pressure measurements were defined according to the American Heart Association 2014 statement. Left ventricular mass index, left ventricular mass index/95 percentile values, and left ventricular hypertrophy ratios were compared between the groups separately to establish the influence of the unclassified cases. Results: A total of 497 children were included. There were 52 cases in normotensive, 47 cases in unclassified group 1, 50 cases in masked hypertension, 79 cases in white coat hypertension, 104 cases in unclassified group 2, and 165 cases in the ambulatory hypertension group. Left ventricular mass index/95 percentile and left ventricular hypertrophy in masked hypertension were significantly higher than normotensive but similar between normotensive and unclassified group 1 groups. Left ventricular hypertrophy was significantly higher in the ambulatory hypertension group compared to white coat hypertension, and similar between white coat hypertension and unclassified group 2 groups. Conclusion: Independent of age, we have found that interpretation of blood pressure load not only has a limited predictable effect on left ventricular hypertrophy but also causes a large group of patients to be unclassified. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between adherence to the Mediterranean diet (MD), mindful eating, environmental beliefs, and obesity in children. Materials and Methods: The study included 318 children (50.6% male, 49.4% female, 10.0 ± 0.73 years old). Data were obtained using survey and a face-to-face interview method. The questionnaire includes general information, anthropometric measurements, the New Ecological Paradigm Scale for Children (NEP), the Mediterranean Diet Quality Index for children and adolescents (KIDMED), and the Mindful Eating Questionnaire for Children. Results: According to the KIDMED classification, 52.5% of the children were in the group that needs improvement, 35.2% were in the low diet quality group, and 12.3% were in the optimal MD group. The Mindless score was higher in overweight/obese children compared to the normal body mass index (BMI) group (P < .05). Awareness, NEP, and KIDMED scores were the lowest in overweight/obese children (P < .05). In regression analysis, the father’s age, KIDMED, and Awareness scores related to NEP scores positively (R2 : 0.545, P < .001). Also, children’s body mass index-related KIDMED scores negatively, and awareness and NEP scores related KIDMED scores positively (R2 : 0.276, P < .001). Conclusion: Our results show that higher adherence to the MD is associated with higher environmental beliefs. Children with higher mindful eating have higher environmental beliefs and adherence to the MD, and these scores are lower in obese children. Therefore, raising generations that adopt sustainable diet models and have high environmental awareness is necessary. Objectives: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has had detrimental impacts on both physical and mental health worldwide. In addition to the behavioral effects, it has caused a range of psychological problems such as depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, and anger. Fear and stress have been particularly prevalent in individuals. This study aims to assess the psychometric properties of the Scale for the Evaluation of Mental and Psychosomatic Effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic (COVID-19 PRPEDS) on adolescents and explore the pandemic's psychosomatic effects. Materials and Methods: A total of 503 adolescents between the ages of 14 and 18 years who continue their high school education constituted the study population. The COVID-19 PRPEDS comprising 18 items and 2 subscales (Mental Effects, Psychosomatic Effects), was used in adolescents. The forms were delivered to the students via the Internet, and in addition to the scale, the age and sex of the adolescents were recorded. Results: A majority of the participants (96.6%, n = 486) had knowledge about COVID-19, 93.8% (n = 472) could differentiate COVID-19 from other diseases, 96.6% (n = 486) were able to explain the transmission ways of COVID-19 and 96% (n = 483) took the necessary precautions to protect themselves from COVID-19. The COVID-19 PRPEDS scores of males were higher than females. The study validation index was above 0.9, which is considered to be acceptable for adolescents. Conclusions: Like in the other pandemics, adolescents experienced serious mental health problems during the COVID-19 pandemic. OBJECTIVE: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) can cause hypoxic respiratory failure; long-term oxygen therapy (LTOT) duration is unknown. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The aim was to investigate which patients would need LTOT after COVID-19 pneumonia. This single-center, prospective study was conducted at the Ankara University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Chest Diseases, between May 2021 and December 2021. The 70 patients hospitalized for COVID-19 pneumonia and discharged with LTOT due to hypoxemic respiratory failure were included. Patients were divided into 2 groups as group I (LTOT requirement <3 months) and group II (LTOT requirement continued =3 months). RESULTS: The mean age was 64.4 ± 13.5 years, and 44 (62.9%) of them were male. The most frequently encountered comorbidities were cardiovascular disease (57.1%) and lung disease (22.9%). While PaO2 levels increased in both groups during the follow-up period, this increment was significantly higher in group I (PaO2: 66.6 ± 9.9 mm Hg, P < .001). The factors affecting the LTOT requirement were evaluated using binary logistic regression. On multivariate analyses of lymphocytes, ferritin, C-reactive protein, PaO2, SaO2, subpleural reticulation, and number of lobes affected (=3 lobes), the SaO2 level and presence of subpleural reticulation were significantly different between the 2 groups [odds ratio (OR) (95% CI): 0.853 (0.749-0.971), P = .016] and [OR (95% CI): 0.171 (0.042-0.733), P = .017], respectively. CONCLUSION: A significant proportion of patients who develop respiratory failure due to COVID-19 recover within the first 3 months. Objective: Epilepsy is a condition characterized by sudden, recurrent epileptic seizures that occur as a result of abnormal and excessive electrical discharge in cortical neurons and are not triggered by an identifiable event. To date, no study has examined prospective memory and medication adherence in patients with focal and generalized epilepsy. This study aimed to examine medication adherence and prospective memory functions in individuals diagnosed with focal and generalized epilepsy Methods: In this study, 51 patients diagnosed with focal and 51 with generalized epilepsy at Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Faculty of Medicine Epilepsy and Sleep Center were included. In addition to the sociodemographic and clinical data forms, participants were administered the Modified Morisky Scale to evaluate medication adherence and the Prospective and Retrospective Memory Questionnaire to evaluate prospective memory function. Results: No difference was found between patients diagnosed with focal epilepsy and those with generalized epilepsy in prospective memory functions and medication adherence. Near-significant correlations were found between medication adherence and memory function. Conclusion: More comprehensive studies evaluating cognitive functions and other parameters related to medication adherence simultaneously are required to clarify the relationship between memory and medication adherence in epilepsy. Purpose: The present study was conducted to determine the effect of odor stimulation with breast milk (BM) applied to premature newborns before and during enteral feeding on feeding cues, transition time to oral feeding and abdominal perfusion. Design: This study was a parallel group pretest-post test randomised controlled trial (RCT). Methods: The study was conducted in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) in Türkiye. Study data were collected from 32 premature newborns between October 2020 and December 2021. Newborns were randomly assigned to either intervention (n = 16) or control (n = 16) groups. Odor stimulation with BM was applied to newborns in the intervention group (IG) before and during enteral feeding for 3 days. Data were collected with the Newborn Information Form, Abdominal Perfusion Follow-up Form, and Feeding Cues Follow-up Form. Yates corrected and Fisher chi-squared test, Mann-Whitney U test, Cohen Kappa statistics, Permanova analysis, and Wilcoxon test were used in the analysis. The study was registered in ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT04843293). Results: The frequency of feeding cues in newborns who were exposed to the odor of BM, was higher than in the control group (CG) (p <.05). The transition times to oral feeding were similar in newborns in the IG and CG (p >.05). Abdominal perfusion level of newborns in the IG was higher than the CG (p <.05), and the level of abdominal perfusion showed a significant difference in terms of group*time interaction (p <.05). Background: The aim of the study was to determine the unmet need for family planning and its causes in Şanlıurfa. Materials and Methods: The cross-sectional study was conducted with women of childbearing age who applied to family health centres in Şanlıurfa city centre and who did not use any family planning method. Cluster sampling method was used in sample selection and each family health centre was taken as a cluster. A pilot study was conducted to calculate the required number of clusters and the required number of clusters was found to be 16 and the study was completed with a total of 313 women. In the evaluation of the data, percentage, mean and standard deviation from descriptive statistics; Chi-square and Mann Whitney-U test from univariate analyses; Logistic Regression model from multivariate analyses were used. Results: In the study, it was determined that 35.5% of the women had unmet need for family planning (2.6% to interrupt their pregnancies, 32.9% because they did not want to get pregnant anymore). The most important factors that increase the unmet need for family planning are speaking Arabic at home 3.5 times, having 2 or more daughters 1.8 times, being 34 years of age or older 1.2 times, and having 30 months or more since the last birth 1.019 times (p<0.05). Conclusions: In the study, it was determined that the level of unmet need for family planning was approximately 3 times higher than the average of Turkey and that socio-demographic and cultural factors affected the unmet need for family planning. The emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic may adversely affect the physicians' mental health differently. This study aimed to investigate the degree of changes in mental distress in physicians through two cross-sectional studies before and during the COVID-19 pandemic and explore factors associated with the change of mental distress status of participants between two-time periods. This cross-sectional, web-based survey collected demographic data and mental health measurements with the 12-item General Health Questionnaire from 416 and 522 physicians before and during COVID-19, respectively. Mixed-effects ordinal logistic regression analyses were performed to assess the factors associated with the change of mental distress status. During the outbreak, a total of 319 of the 522 participants reported a clinically significant level of mental distress compared with 123 of 416 participants before COVID-19. Higher levels of mental distress were observed in all socio-demographic groups during COVID-19 compared with before, with more than two-fold higher prevalence of mental health deterioration in general. This study suggests a significant deterioration in mental health status after the occurrence of COVID-19 compared with before. Purpose: To determine the effect of inspiratory muscle training (IMT) on respiratory and peripheral muscle strength, functional exercise capacity, health-related quality of life (HRQoL), fatigue, depression, and cardiac functions in patients with stable angina. Methods: A randomized, controlled, single-blinded study. Twenty patients (59.95 ± 7.35 y, LVEF - 58.77 ± 7.49) with stable angina received IMT at the lowest load (10 cmH2O), and 20 patients (55.85 ± 7.60 y, LVEF - 62.26 ± 7.75) received training at 30% of maximal inspiratory pressure (MIP) seven days/8 weeks. Respiratory muscle strength (MIP; maximal expiratory pressure, MEP), peripheral muscle strength, pulmonary functions, functional exercise capacity (6-min walking test; exercise test), fatigue, HRQoL, depression, and cardiac functions were evaluated before and after. Results: A statistical difference was found between groups in terms of respiratory and peripheral muscle strength, pulmonary functions, functional exercise capacity (p<0.05). The results of fatigue, depression, HRQoL, and cardiac functions were similar between the groups (p>0.05). Conclusions: This study is the first to demonstrate the positive effects of IMT in patients with stable angina. IMT is a safe and effective method and is recommended to be added to cardiopulmonary rehabilitation programs and guidelines, as it results in increased peripheral muscle strength and functional exercise capacity in stable angina patients. Objective: There are limited studies regarding endocrine complications in Turkish adult thalassemic patients. Data regarding newly emerging endocrine complications in the long-term monitoring of adult patients with beta-thalassemia are also quite limited. Methods: The study was a single-center cohort study involving 103 adult patients with betathalassemia. Results: The most frequent endocrine disorder was vitamin D insufficiency (69%), whereas the most common endocrine complications were hypogonadism (56%) and osteoporosis (37%) in thalassemic patients. Three or more endocrine disorders were present in 42% of the patients. Patients with hypogonadism had higher ferritin levels (P = .014), lower hemoglobin concentrations (P = .028), and increased myocardial iron deposition (P = .002) compared to those without hypogonadism. There was also a link between 5-year calculated mean ferritin levels and fasting plasma glucose (r = 0.29, P = .004) and 75 g oral glucose tolerance test second-hour glucose levels (r = 0.46, P = .001). Osteoporosis was more common in patients with hypogonadism (51% vs. 21%, P = .003) and diabetes (75% vs. 35%, P = .027). The remaining endocrine problems, on the other hand, were not linked to thalassemia-related characteristics or each other. In 3 and 5 years of follow-up, 16% and 12% of patients developed a new endocrine-metabolic complication, respectively, with osteoporosis and prediabetes/diabetes being the most common. Conclusion: A significant proportion of adult thalassemic patients have multiple endocrine-metabolic complications. All patients with thalassemia major, regardless of their ferritin levels, should be evaluated for the occurrence of endocrine complications. Purpose: The study was conducted to determine the effect of mother's voice and music sound on pain and physiological parameters during aspiration procedure in children with mechanical ventilation support in the pediatric intensive care unit. Design and Methods: This study was a randomized controlled type experimental study. According to the power analysis result of the sample of the study, 84 children who were treated in the pediatric intensive care unit of two university hospitals in Istanbul were formed. Introductory Information Form, Ramsey Sedation Scale, Physiological Parameter Form and Face, Legs, Activity, Cry, Consolability (FLACC) Pain Scale were used to collect data. Results: When the pain results of the children were evaluated, the mean FLACC Pain Scale value of the children in the control group was found to be significantly higher than children in the mother's voice and music voice group (p < 0.05). It was determined that the lowest FLACC Pain Scale value was in the mother's voice group (p < 0.05). When the physical parameter results were evaluated, it was determined that the physiological measurement values of the children in the experimental group were positively affected (p < 0.05), there was a significant difference between the control group (p < 0.05) and the most effective result was in the mother's voice group (p < 0.05). Practice Implications: Allowing children to listen mother's voice and music during aspiration procedure reduces pain of the children, positively affects their physical parameter values and enhances quality of nursing care. The results of this study create a scientific basis for nursing practices in the clinical settings and contribute to the clinical practices by shedding a light on future evidence‐based studies. OBJECTIVE Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most aggressive primary brain tumor. Despite all treatments, very few have long-term survival. This retrospective study aimed to investigate the clinicopathological features, treatment modalities, and factors affecting survival in GBM patients with short- and long-term survival. METHODS Data from 217 GBM patients who received radiotherapy (RT) between 2010 and 2021 were analyzed. The patients were divided into two groups: short (<6 months) and long (>2 years) living groups. Treatment, patient, and tumor characteristics were evaluated. RESULTS While 37 (17.1%) of 217 patients included in the group lived <6 months, 49 (22.6%) were in the group that lived longer than 2 years. In the long-living group, being under 65 years of age, having better performance, performing total excision, applying conventional RT, and receiving adjuvant chemotherapy (CT) detected more frequently. The regression test showed that young age, good performance, and receiving conventional RT and adjuvant chemotherapy (CT) were independently associated with survival. CONCLUSION It was observed that patients who lived longer were frequently young and well-performing ones who underwent wide excision and received conventional RT and adjuvant CT. The aim of the study was to measure quality of life, depression and sexual function in patients undergoing chronic hemodialysis treatment and to assess gender differences in these three variables. The sample consisted of 84 volunteer Turkish dialysis patients who had been on hemodialysis for at least 6 months. The results showed that 51.2% of the participants were currently experiencing sexual dysfunction. Sexual dysfunction was more common in women (66.7%) than in men (41.2%). Medical problems can affect a person's physical health, mental health, relationships, quality of life, and the people with whom the patient is connected. Although we presume mental health professionals in Turkey work with individuals coping with health issues, there has been no prior published research. This study sought to determine how mental health professionals in Turkey approached their patients currently coping with a physical illness or disability and to what degree they collaborated with other care providers. Results revealed limited education on how to work with patients and their families currently coping with illness or disability, low interdisciplinary collaboration, and low family involvement in mental healthcare related to medical issues. The authors discuss how mental healthcare providers can use the findings of this study to advance systemic training and improve the use of systemic approaches for patients and their families coping with illness and disability in Turkey. Objective: The timing of surgical patent ductus arteriosus ligation in preterm infants remains controversial. Early ligation (<2 or 3 weeks of life) benefits preterm infants with a lower incidence of bronchopulmonary dysplasia and necrotizing enterocolitis. We present patent ductus arteriosus ligation experience in premature infants who had been transported for closure to an outside centre other than the hospital they were hospitalized. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 17 consecutive patients who had undergone surgery of premature infant patent ductus arteriosus closure during the period of March 2009-December 2020. Patent ductus arteriosus had been clipped in 17 patients. Results: The median birth weight and age were 930 g and 28 gestation weeks, respectively. The birth age of the sub-groups were A: ≤28 weeks and B: >28 weeks and birthweight were group I: ≤800 g and group II: >800 g. The median day of PDA ligation wasa 20 days, and patients with birthweight ≤800 g were ligated later than patients weighing >800 g. Two patients had intracranial hemorrhage, 6 had bronchopulmonary dysplasia, and 2 were dead. We found that exposure to large patent ductus arteriosus and low birth age in preterm babies was associated with longer hospitalization duration, preoperative mechanical ventilation time, and sepsis. Conclusion: Infants exposed to moderate-to-large patent ductus arteriosus requiring intubation and resistant to medical therapy for more than 2 weeks should have surgical ligation as soon as possible. Background: Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is still a challenge for children. About 15 to 45% of the HIV positive pregnant women can transmit the virus to their children during pregnancy, delivery and/or breastfeeding. The risk of transmission can be decreased my several measures. Aims: To identify factors associated with HIV infection in children born to HIV-infected mothers. Study Design: A multi-center retrospective cohort study. Methods: A ten-year retrospective cohort study in five dedicated HIV centers was conducted. The 325 women in our cohort were between the ages of 18 and 45. During the study period, 44 (13.5%) of these women gave birth and 51 babies were born. Of the 51 infants, 7 (13.7%) were HIV/AIDS positive. Results: Among the factors studied, breastfeeding, having a HIV-positive sibling and being on antiretroviral treatment during pregnancy and detectable HIV-RNA during delivery were found statistically significant. A multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that being on antiretroviral treatment during pregnancy is the most important predictor of mother-to-child transmission. Conclusion: Mother-to-child transmission appears to be an important route of HIV transmission in Turkey. Lack of antiretroviral treatment during pregnancy appears to be a key factor in transmission. This correlational study aims at exploring the correlations between symptom burden, functional status, and self‐efficacy in advanced breast cancer patients and to analyze their paths of influence. The study was performed with 122 patients with advanced breast cancer receiving outpatient chemotherapy between April 10, 2021 and April 29, 2022. Data were collected using a sociodemographic information form, the MD Anderson Symptom Inventory, the Functional Living Index‐Cancer, and the Symptom Management Self‐Efficacy Scale for Breast Cancer Related to Chemotherapy. Kruskal–Wallis, Mann–Whitney U, and Spearman correlation tests and path analysis were used for data evaluation. Less‐educated individuals had a higher symptom burden and poorer self‐efficacy. Low‐income level was related to poor self‐efficacy. Symptom severity did not directly influence functional status but affected it indirectly through self‐efficacy, while symptom interference and self‐efficacy had a direct impact on functional status. This study mainly concludes that symptom burden and self‐efficacy affect functional status in advanced breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy. Background: During the COVID‐19 pandemic period, the level of anxiety and the duration of social media use increased in university students. Objectives: This study aimed to examine the relationship between coronavirus anxiety and social media addiction in university students. Methods: The sample consisted of 346 university students in Turkey. The data were collected online using the Sociodemographic Data Form, the Coronavirus Anxiety Scale Short Form and the Social Network Addiction Scale. The data were analysed using one‐way analysis of variance, Mann–Whitney U test, Pearson correlation analysis, chi‐square analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. Results: The results showed that the mean coronavirus anxiety score was higher in men than in women. Social media addiction increased as the daily time spent by the students on social media increased. A positive correlation was found between the daily time spent on social media before the pandemic and social media usage during the pandemic. It was concluded that students use social media more during the pandemic than before it and that social media addiction increases as the students' coronavirus anxiety increases. Conclusion: It is important to plan initiatives to reduce coronavirus anxiety to prevent social media addiction in young people. Despite advances in hand therapy and surgery, functional deficits persist after flexor tendon repair especially in zone I–III. This suggests that methods applied may be insufficient. Electromyographic (EMG) biofeedback may provide an effective tendon gliding through visual and auditory feedback. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of EMG biofeedback training applied in addition to early passive motion protocol on functional status in zone I–III flexor tendon injuries. Patients were randomly assigned into two groups, each consisted of 11 patients. In addition to early passive motion method, EMG biofeedback training was applied in the first group. The second group was followed only with early passive motion protocol. Joint range of motion (ROM), Michigan Hand Outcomes Questionnaire (MHQ) and grip strength were evaluated. There were no significant differences between the groups in terms of the ROM, MHQ scores and grip strength (p ≥.087). However, there were clinically important differences in the results of the 12th week ROM (effect size = 0.70), 24th week activity of daily living (ADL) score in MHQ (effect size = 0.68), 12th week gross, tip pinch and lateral grip strength (effect sizes = 0.59, 0.52, 0.81, respectively) and 24th week gross, tip pinch and lateral grip strength (effect sizes = 0.69, 0.73, 0.69, respectively) between the two groups. Design: A descriptive and exploratory study. Methods: This study was conducted with 250 nurses working in a public and two private hospitals in a city, an area with many refugees. Data were collected using the Ethnocentrism Scale and Individualised Care Behaviours Scale. Structural equation model analysis to test hypothetical model and descriptive statistics were used. Results: Nurses working in the private hospitals had a higher individualised care decision control mean score. Those nurses who enjoyed spending time with people from different cultures had lower mean ethnocentrism scale scores, higher individualised care clinical status, personal life and decision control status subscales mean scores compared to other nurses. Mean scores of the individualised care personal life and decision control status subscales of the nurses who followed the literature on transcultural nursing was higher. A significant relationship between the ethnocentrism levels and individualised care behaviours was identified. Accordingly, the ethnocentric attitudes of the nurses negatively affected their individualised care behaviours, and the model established between the two concepts is statistically appropriate. Conclusions: Nurses who work in private hospitals, receive intercultural nursing education and enjoy spending time with different cultures have higher individualised care behaviours and lower ethnocentrism levels. Ethnocentric attitudes of the nurses negatively affected their individualised care behaviours. Care strategies should be developed that consider the factors that will maximize individualised care practices that minimize ethnocentric behaviours among nurses. Implications for the Profession: Increasing awareness on individualised care behaviours, ethnocentric attitudes and effected factors will contribute to improve of nursing care quality of nurses while giving care to individuals from different cultures. Objective: Shear-wave elastography (SWE) can be used to obtain quantitative information about tissue stiffness. This study compared SWE measurements of patients with adenomyosis, leiomyoma, and normal myometrium. Materials and Methods: This study included 56 women who were scheduled to undergo hysterectomy. Measurements of the uterine myometrium and leiomyomas, if any, of the patients were preoperatively collected through SWE. A total of 69 SWE measurements were included. Postoperatively, the patients were categorized according to the results of histopathologic examinations: group 1 included patients with normal myometrium; group 2 included those with adenomyosis; and group 3 included those with leiomyomas. The Emean values of the kPa obtained from the SWE measurements were compared with the histopathologic results. Results: The SWE measurements of groups 2 and 3 were significantly higher than those of group 1. There were no significant differences between groups 2 and 3 in mean SWE measurements. The success rate of SWE in differentiating normal myometrium and adenomyosis was 92%, with a sensitivity of 93.1% and a specificity of 82.1%. Conclusion: This study revealed that using ultrasound elastography to diagnose adenomyosis is successful in distinguishing that condition from normal myometrium, but SWE is not useful for distinguishing adenomyosis leiomyoma. Practices that strengthen nurse work environments and enable them to have control over nursing practices have gained importance in recent years as they increase nurses' retention and patient care quality. This study aimed to examine the relationships between structural empowerment and nurse and patient-reported outcomes and the mediating role of control over nursing practices in these relationships. This correlational and cross-sectional study was carried out from September 2018 to May 2019 at two public hospitals in Turkey. We recruited staff nurses (n = 319) working in the inpatient units of these hospitals and their patients (n = 319). Data were collected using self-report measures from staff nurses and patients. It was determined that structural empowerment and control over nursing practices had a positive relationship with job satisfaction and nursing care quality, as well as a negative relationship with intention to turnover; however, there was no relationship with patient-reported outcomes. Control over nursing practices partially mediated the relationship between structural empowerment and outcomes of job satisfaction and nursing care quality. This study indicates that promoting the structural empowerment of nurses and ensuring that they have control over practice will increase job satisfaction and quality of care. OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the effects of pranayama and deep breathing exercises on fatigue and sleep quality in women undergoing radiation therapy for breast cancer. SAMPLE & SETTING: This randomized controlled study was conducted on the outpatient radiation oncology unit of a hospital with 20 patients each in pranayama, deep breathing, and standard care groups (N = 60). METHODS & VARIABLES: The Piper Fatigue Scale and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index were used to evaluate the participants' fatigue and sleep quality. RESULTS: The control group showed a significant increase in fatigue levels at the end of radiation therapy compared to the beginning. Sleep quality was improved only in the pranayama group. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING: Pranayama can be learned easily, can be performed anywhere, and does not require any equipment, making it a convenient exercise for patients. Background: The hospital outcomes and predictors of acute peripancreatic fluid collection (APFC) have not been well-characterized. In this study, we aimed to investigate the clinical outcomes of APFC in patients with acute pancreatitis (AP) and the role of the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), systemic inflammation response index (SIRI), and C-reactive protein (CRP) level in predicting the occurrence of APFC. Methods: In this retrospective study, the complicated group (patients with APFC) and the uncomplicated group (patients without APFC) were compared for their clinical characteristics, hospital outcomes (mortality rate, intensive care unit admission rate, and length of hospital stay), pseudocyst formation, CRP levels, SII, and SIRI on admission and at 48 hours. Results: Of 132 patients with AP, 51 (38.6%) had APFC and eight (6.1%) had pancreatic pseudocysts. Of 51 patients with APFC, 15.7% had pancreatic pseudocysts. Pseudocyst did not develop in the uncomplicated group. SII value at 48 h [median 859 (541-1740) x 109/L vs. 610 (343-1259) x 109/L, P = 0.01] and CRP level at 48 h [89 (40-237) mg/L vs. 38 (12-122) mg/L, P = 0.01] were higher in the complicated group than in the uncomplicated group. The length of hospital stay was longer in the complicated group, compared with the uncomplicated group [median 8 days (5-15), vs. 4 days (3-7), P < 0.001, respectively]. No significant difference was detected between the two study groups' mortality rates and intensive care unit admission rates. Conclusions: While 38.6% of the AP patients had APFC, 6.1% of all patients and 15.7% of the patients with APFC had pancreatic pseudocysts. Objective: There are concerns that local corticosteroid injections may increase the risk of COVID-19 infection because of the immunosuppressive effect of corticosteroids. This study aimed to examine the relationship between local corticosteroid injections and the risk of COVID-19 infection. Design: The date and type of procedure as well as the dose and type of corticosteroids used in patients who underwent local corticosteroid injections within 1 yr after the first COVID-19 case in the country were examined retrospectively and recorded. Patients who did not receive corticosteroids were included in the control group. Coronavirus disease 2019 infection histories of all patients were recorded. Results: There was no significant difference between the patients who received local corticosteroids and the control group in terms of the incidence of COVID-19 infections, and the number of patients who needed hospitalization or intensive care treatment. In addition, it was found that the administration of two injections, the type of procedure performed, and the dose and type of steroids were not associated with the incidence or severity of COVID-19 infections. Conclusions: It has been shown that local corticosteroid injections are not associated with the incidence of COVID-19 infections and the number of patients who need hospitalization or intensive care treatment due to COVID-19. Objective: The study examined the clinical symptoms and lifetime traumatic experience in female patients with conversion disorder (CD). Methods: The study sample consisted of patients from a metropolis (CD-metropolis group, n=60), patients from a non-metropolis city (CD-NMC group, n=60), and healthy controls (n=60). The study was completed with 180 women. The Dissociative Events scale (DES), Childhood Trauma questionnaire-28 (CTQ-28), Traumatic Experiences checklist (TEC), and a data form were used to evaluate the participants. Results: Some specific symptoms (inability to speak, numbness in hands and arms, pseudoseizures, paralysis in hands and arms, and fatigue) and coexisting suicide attempts and dissociation symptoms were more common, CTQ-28, DES, and TEC scores were higher, and TEC Family Support scores were lower in the CD-metropolis group than in the CD-NMC group (p<0.05 for all). Conclusion: Metropolitan life is associated with a different clinical symptomatology, more frequent coexisting problems of attempted suicide and/or dissociation symptoms, and more frequent lifetime trauma compared with NMC life in the context of CD. Background: High-flow nasal cannula therapy has been shown to be useful in the treatment of patients with acute respiratory failure caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus disease-2. The ROX index can help predict the success of high-flow nasal cannula in coronavirus disease-19-related acute respiratory failure. However, the timing of ROX- index assessment is still unclear to protect the patients from complications due to early or delayed intubation. Aims: To evaluate the relation between ROX index patterns within the first 48 hours of the therapy and high-flow nasal cannula success rates. The secondary aim was to determine other possible predictors of high-flow nasal cannula failure. Study design: A cross-sectional study. Methods: Patients admitted to the intensive care unit between April 2020 and January 2022 with coronavirus disease-19-related acute respiratory failure and treated with high-flow nasal cannula were included in the study. Patients' demographics, clinical characteristics and laboratory findings at intensive care unit admission; ROX indices at initiation, 2nd, 8th, 12th, 24th and 48th hours of high-flow nasal cannula; and outcomes were recorded. Results: In the study period, 69th patients were managed with high- flow nasal cannula for at least 2 hours. While 24 patients (34.7%) were successfully weaned from high-flow nasal cannula, 45 (65.3%) patients failed. Overall mortality at day 28 was 44.9%. ROX indices were lower in the high-flow nasal cannula failure group through the 12th, 24th, and 48th hours of the therapy, no significant change was observed (P = 0.33). While an overall increase in ROX index patterns were detected in patients weaned from high-flow nasal cannula (P = 0.002). Pairwise analyses revealed that ROX indexes remain stable during the first 8th hours in both groups, then improved to 12th hours of the therapy in successfully high-flow nasal cannula-weaned patients. Conclusion: Dynamic assessments of the ROX indexes could be more suggestive rather than a point assessment to identify patients who would benefit from the high-flow nasal cannula or deteriorate in coronavirus disease-19 related acute respiratory failure. In this study, we examine the effectiveness of structured education and follow-up in the management of perceived milk insufficiency and in increasing the baby's amount of milk intake in breastfeeding mothers. We conducted a randomized controlled trial over the period December 2018-June 2019 at Family Health Centers in Turkey with 64 mothers (intervention group: 33 and control group: 31). We provided the intervention group with education using structured educational material. A Descriptive Information Form, a Breastfeeding Follow-up Form, and the Scoring System for Measuring a Baby's Intake of Breast Milk were the instruments we used in the data collection. Mothers in the intervention group started breastfeeding their babies in the first one hour after birth. We observed at each monitoring that a significantly greater percentage of the mothers in the intervention group believed their milk to be sufficient and that they fed their babies exclusively with breast milk in the three follow-ups. We found from the data we obtained that all three tracking times indicated that the baby's amount of milk intake in the intervention group was better than in the control group; the differences were statistically significant. We concluded that structured education and follow-ups increased the exclusive breastfeeding of 0-2-month-old babies, improved perceptions of sufficient milk intake, diminishing the perception of breast milk deficiency. Objective: This study aims to evaluate whether the training offered about child abuse and neglect to families in which there are disagreements and problems between parents will be effective in enhancing awareness. Background: Even if families are the places where children are the safest, they sometimes constitute the risky groups in terms of neglect and abuse. Parents could perpetrate physical and emotional abuses against their children due to conflicts with their spouses. Method: The research was conducted as a pre‐test–post‐test quasi‐experimental study. A total of 142 parents (71 couples) took part in the research. The Socio‐Demographic Information Form, the Abuse Awareness Scale – Parent Form and the Revised Dyadic Adjustment Scale were used as the data collection tools. Awareness training on child neglect and abuse, created by the researcher, was given to parents. Results: Before the training, the mean of pre‐test scores obtained by participant parents from the AAS‐PF was 62.5 ± 7.77 points. The mean of post‐test scores obtained by participant parents from the AAS‐PF was 47.5 ± 4.94 points. There was a statistically significant relationship between participant parents' AAS‐PF and RDAS scores. Implications: In line with the findings obtained from the research, disagreements between spouses pose a risk for children in terms of neglect and abuse. Background/Aims: Children with intellectual disability and dyslexia have poor academic and behavioural skills related to social participation, as well as poor motor skills compared to typically developing children. Most training programmes for these children focus on the academic and behavioural aspects of special education, overlooking musculoskeletal and motor development needs. The aim of this study was to investigate body posture and postural control in children with intellectual disability and dyslexia compared to typically developing children using technology-based assessments. Methods: A total of 77 children (36 with dyslexia, 21 with intellectual disability and 20 typically developing children) took part in the study. The PostureScreen Mobile app was used to evaluate body posture and the Fizyosoft Balance System was used to assess postural control. Results: Significant postural differences were observed in children with intellectual disability when compared to typically developing children. Head, shoulder and knee translations in the sagittal plane were significantly higher in children with intellectual disability than typically developing children. Centre of pressure velocities were significantly higher in children with dyslexia. Centre of pressure displacements showed non-significant differences in the children with dyslexia compared to the children with intellectual disability and typically developing children. Conclusions: The present study found that children with dyslexia had poor postural control and children with intellectual disability had poor quality of posture compared to typically developing children. The authors believe that motor and physical assessments with objective outcome measurements should be conducted for children with dyslexia and intellectual disability to help improve their motor development. Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of psychiatric symptoms such as anxiety, obsession, hostility, and attachment styles, which may be associated with COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy. Method: A total of 504 adult participants were included in the study. The sociodemographic data form, including questions on information about participants' COVID-19 infection history and concerns about COVID-19 vaccines, was filled out by the participants. The participants were evaluated with the anxiety, obsessive--compulsive disorder (OCD), hostility, and paranoid ideation subscales of the Symptom Checklist -- Revised 90 scale and the Adults Attachment Style Scale (AASS). The participants were divided into three groups: "vaccinated group (VG)," "nonvaccinated but intend to get vaccinated group (IGV)," and "nonvaccinated group and not intend to get vaccinated group (NIGV)." Results: The mean score of the AASS secure subscale was higher (p=0.009), while the SCL-90 anxiety subscale was lower (p=0.003) in the NIGV group. The mean score of the SCL-90 OCD subscale in the NIGV group was lower than that in the IGV group (p=0.040). Regression analysis showed that concerns about the safety of vaccines (OR: 140, p<0.001) and having secure attachment style (OR: 1.787, p=0.019) increase the intention to not be vaccinated. However, it was found that high anxiety scores decreased the intention not to be vaccinated (OR: 0.966, p=0.035). Conclusion: The findings of the current study indicate that secure attachment style and clinical psychiatric entities such as anxiety and obsession were effective on vaccine hesitancy. However, this interaction needs to be interpreted carefully in the context of the perceived level of COVID-19 threat, more detailed information about the safety and necessity of vaccines, the relationship of individuals with their social environment, and the predominance of vaccine hesitancy in their social environment.
