Aim: This study aimed to determine the level of spiritual care and compassion among midwives working in delivery rooms and associated factors. Methods: A descriptive design was utilized to collect data using self‐report questionnaires from 181 midwives working in delivery rooms in Turkey. Data were collected between 1 February 2020 and 20 March 2020. Results: The mean Spiritual Care‐Giving Scale (SCGS) (min: 25‐ max: 175) and Compassion Scale (CS) (min: 24– max: 120) scores were 147.88 ± 17.84 and 96.37 ± 12.84. It was determined that there was a significant difference between the SCGS and CS scores of the midwives based on age, working year, work schedule, job satisfaction and traumatic birth experiences. Furthermore, there were positive correlations between scores on certain SCGS and CS subdimensions. Conclusion: Midwifery is a continuously evolving profession based on helping others. However, long working hours and their exposure to traumatic birth events negatively affect both spiritual caregiving and compassion levels of midwives. Working conditions of midwives need to improve and this would contribute to the quality of maternal healthcare. Also, studies should be conducted in different contexts, societies and cultures to identify barriers to compassionate and spiritual care during childbirth. Compassion and spirituality play a significant role in the quality of care in midwifery, similar to other healthcare fields.There are limited studies on the level of spiritual care and compassion in midwives working in delivery rooms, reflecting the situation in only certain contexts, societies and cultures. Aim: To investigate nursing/midwifery students, Clinical Mentors, Link Teachers and Head Nurses experiences within "Dedicated Education Unit" model in 6 European clinical placements and analyse the necessary elements for a powerful clinical learning environment. Design: A multi‐country, phenomenological, qualitative study. Methods: Focus group interviews were performed to identify the personal and organizational factors of importance for students and nurses/midwives. Results: Data analysis produced 4 main themes (1) Clinical placement organization, (2) students' clinical knowledge and skill acquisition, (3) students, and nurses/midwives' experiences within the DEU model and (4) factors for creating an effective learning environment. Conclusions: A close educational‐service collaboration, a realistic clinical placement planning, a focus on student learning process and an investment in professionals' education and development among others, are elements to set up a powerful clinical learning environment. Implications for the profession: It is considered advisable and urgent to improve the working conditions of nurses/midwives and the learning environments of students as a strategy to alleviate the global shortage of nurses and respond to the increasingly demanding health needs of the population. Impact: Due to the close relationship between students' learning and features of the clinical environment nurse educators seek innovative models which allow students to manage patient care and their transition to professional practice. To implement new learning strategies, identifying students, nurses and midwives perceptions and suggestions is a powerful information to evaluate implementation process and outcomes. Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the attitudes of speech-language pathology--related specialists (SPs) and speech-language pathology (SLP) students toward stuttering. Furthermore, we identified the factors that influence changes in the attitudes of SLP students and SPs in various countries. Method: Using a search formula, the PubMed and ScienceDirect databases were used to conduct primary and secondary screening for analysis. All previous studies included in the systematic review focused on SPs or SLP students and were published in English. Studies were collected and screened independently by the first and second authors and then discussed between them. Twenty-two studies with varying research designs and sample sizes were included in the systematic review. Finally, information on authors, publishing year, participant, country or region, assessment materials, and the results were extracted and organized before analysis. Results: Twenty-two articles from eight countries and one region (Middle East) were extracted. The results showed that SLP students and SPs in different countries have different attitudes toward stuttering depending on their education, experience, geographic location, cultural status, and societal development, but stereotypes of people who stutter (PWS) persist (e.g., nervous), and the attitudes toward the clinics appear to be more negative in Western countries. Conclusions: Negative attitudes toward PWS remain among both SLP students and SPs. Thus, the factors that may influence the attitudes of SLP students and SPs should be taken into account in academic and clinical education in fluency disorders, and the education content must be structured to improve the quality of education and the attitude toward PWS. Objective: In this study it is aimed to determine the educational environment perceptions of Family Medicine assistants (FMA) and affecting factors. Methods: Postgraduate hospital educational environment measure (PHEEM) scale was applied to 160 FMAs, and total PHEEM score and subscale scores were calculated. Results: Mean age was 28.6±2.9 years and 105 participants (65.6%) were female. 130 of the participants (81.3%) selected Family Medicine training voluntarily About 53.1% of the participants declared that health service is more important than training in their department. The mean PHEEM score was 89.98±22.99. It was found that 103 (64.4%) of the participants were satisfied with their educational environment but thought that it would be developed, and 8 (5%) of them thought that it was a very poor educational environment. The mean total PHEEM score and subscale scores were similar between the participants from different, and between genders (p>0.05). The mean PHEEM score and the mean perceptions of social support score of the participants who wanted to be a FM voluntarily was significantly higher than that of the others (p=0.04 and 0.014 respectively). The mean total PHEEM score and subscale scores of the participants who do not have difficulty in making researches and publishing scientific papers were significantly higher than that of the others (p>0.05). This study aims to analyze Syrian women's experience of violence from the perspective of the service providers by using intersectionality as an analytical lens. Face-to-face interviews were conducted with 13 service providers working in areas highly populated by Syrians in Konya, Turkey. Harmful traditional practices, societal violence reflected in gender-based discrimination, discrimination in work life, and inability to access to complaint mechanisms are the basic findings of the study. Revealing how the intersections and interrelatedness of class, ethnicity, culture, and migration status shape the experiences of Syrian women is expected to contribute to the implementation of anti-oppressive practices of social workers. This research explores the views of probation specialists working with young offenders about their professional process, professional problems, and the evidence-based practice approach. The qualitative method was used in the research and the phenomenology pattern forms the basis of the research. The data deciphered and conceptualized with descriptive analysis by the organizing and senior researcher. According to data from in-depth interviews, due to the dual structure of the probation system, which includes both execution and rehabilitation, professional staff experience role conflict. Professional problems such as excessive workload, inadequate physical conditions, not separating the job descriptions of probation specialists according to their fields of expertise, job dissatisfaction, and burnout are common. In addition, there are no scientific tools to measure the effectiveness of the intervention programs and monitoring process in the probation system. There is a need for developing the effectiveness of intervention programs in the probation system and an evidence-based intervention system. At the end of the article, some suggestions on effective social work practices in the probation system are presented from the perspective of evidence-based practice. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

City hospitals (integrated health campuses) are a remarkable health policy action that has recently been implemented to meet the increasing public health needs. Health care professionals work in a collaborative atmosphere and provide interprofessional care on health campuses. This study is designed to explore the confirmatory factor structure of the Initial Attitudes towards Integrated Health Care (ATIHC) scale in Turkish health professionals, which was used to evaluate the attitudes of health professionals, consisting of senior managers and specialist physicians, towards city hospitals. Data were gathered from 196 health professionals, including senior managers and specialist physicians, working in a city hospital located in the rural part of the country. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was used to analyze the data through the first-order and second-order stages. The performance of the second-order CFA model is meaningful (p < 0.00001) and acceptable ( X 2 /df = 1663/430 = 3.8; RMSEA = 0.12), and the goodness-of-fit indices are good (CFI = 0.92; NFI = 0.89; IFI = 0.92). The ATIHC scale, which consists of four latent variables under the second-order latent "attitudes" variable, better represents the sample, and health care quality and efficiency (β = 1.03, p < 0.01) and coordination of care components (β = 1.02, p < 0.01) are the prominent factors in explaining the attitudes of health professionals towards city hospitals. The Turkish version of ATIHC is a reliable and valid instrument for measuring the attitudes of health professionals towards city hospitals. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Intensive care settings are characterized by their structure, which constantly changes in parallel with scientific and technological developments, the uncertainty of the lifeline between birth and death, the challenges in the fair distribution of limited resources, the participation of individuals in medical decisions, and witnessing the pain experienced by individuals. These characteristics also affect the level of moral distress, which can make it difficult for ICU nurses to provide the most appropriate individualized care for their patients. Aims: The purpose of this study was to determine the moral distress levels and individualized care perceptions of intensive care nurses. Study design: This study employed a cross‐sectional descriptive survey design. Methods: This descriptive study was conducted with 128 nurses working in the intensive care units of a university hospital in Turkey. Data were collected using an 'Information Form', 'the Moral Distress Scale', and 'the Individualized Care Scale‐Nurse Version'. Results: 78.9% of the nurses stated that there was staff shortage, and 36.0% stated that the physical conditions were not suitable for care in the intensive care units in which they worked. The mean score on the Moral Distress Scale was 79.2 ± 46.4. The mean total score on the Individualized Care Scale‐Nurse Version was 3.5 ± 0.8. Conclusion: This study revealed that the intensive care nurses had moderate levels of moral distress and good levels of individualized care perceptions although there was no significant relationship between their moral distress levels and individualized care perceptions. Also, the nurses adopted care behaviours supporting patients' feelings and autonomy. Relevance to clinical practice: In our study, the intensive care nurses did not reflect their moderate‐level moral distress in the individualized care provided. It could be beneficial to measure intensive care nurses' moral distress and care levels at frequent intervals so that early precautions could be taken to prevent the accumulation of moral distress and care difficulties among intensive care nurses. We sought to determine differences by low- and middle- income countries (Brazil, Romania, and Turkiye) on the degree to which health care providers (HCPs) note unmet needs among patients with cancer (N = 741). HCPs endorsed sexuality/intimacy and financial concerns as the most common. Investigating age differences in unmet needs between Brazil and Turkiye, were that should be targeted by. Results revealed that unmet needs to manage emotional distress were higher among older patients in Turkiye, whereas unmet needs to manage insomnia/fatigue were higher among pediatric patients in Brazil. OBJECTIVE We aimed to investigate the perception of radiation oncologists about artificial intelligence (AI), their current use of AI in clinical practice, and their expectations, concerns, and wishes in terms of the future of radiation oncology (RO) in the era of AI. METHODS An electronic survey was created. RESULTS A total of 108 radiation oncologists participated. One-fourth (24.3%) rated their knowledge of AI as very poor. The majority (94%) reported that they need training about AI. Most respondents (62.6%) indicated that they had never used any AI application. Nearly 90% reported that the introduction of AI would improve RO. Image analysis and target definition were identified as key benefits of AI in RO by 84% of respondents. The medical liability due to machine error and black box uncertainties was the greatest concerns. The need for clinical validation of AI applications, development of ethical frameworks, and medicolegal guidelines was identified as priorities before the implementation of AI in RO by 86%, 78%, and 68%, respectively. CONCLUSION There was a big gap in knowledge within our RO community. The enthusiasm to learn was high. AI applications have not been imposed much in clinical routine. Mostly, the participants felt optimistic about the introduction of AI. The top areas where AI was thought to be most useful in RO were reliant on imaging. Objective: This descriptive cross-sectional study aims to determine the knowledge and opinions of the healthcare professionals (physicians, nurses, midwives, and health officers) working in pediatric-neonatal clinics and intensive care units about meningococcemia, rotavirus, and human papillomavirus (HPV) infections/vaccines. Methodology: The sample of this descriptive cross-sectional study was composed of the healthcare professionals working in pediatric/neonatal clinics of the three university hospitals located in different cities of Turkey. Data were collected with a 33 questions survey prepared by the researchers. The significance was accepted to be at the level of p<0.05. Results: A total of 222 individuals, including nurses (68.0%), physicians (26.1%), midwives (3.2%), and health officers (2.7%), participated in the study. The mean score of the healthcare professionals' knowledge about invasive meningococcal disease, rotavirus, and HPV vaccines was 16.73±4.93. When comparing the mean scores in terms of educational status, the mean scores of those having a doctoral degree were statistically significantly higher (p<0.05). 86.5% of the healthcare professionals thought that the rotavirus (86.5%), meningococcal (90.5%), and HPV vaccine (75.2%) should be included in the national vaccination schedule. Conclusions: Consequently, the healthcare professionals had a lack of knowledge about invasive meningococcal disease, rotavirus, and HPV vaccines, but they believed that these three vaccines should be included in the national vaccination schedule. Background. The difficulty of accessing accurate information during the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in many questions being asked to family physicians about vaccination. Objectives. The aim of this study was to determine the attitudes of Family Medicine (FM) residents in Ankara about the inactivated and mRNA COVID-19 vaccines being administered in Turkey. Material and methods. An anonymous online survey was distributed to FM residents between 22.05.2021–06.06.2021. Information on socio-demographic data and residents’ attitudes towards COVID-19 vaccines administered in Turkey were evaluated. Results. 11.1% of the participants were not vaccinated for the following reasons: having positive Anti-Spike antibody values, thinking that there had not been enough studies on vaccines, vaccine safety concerns, belief that innate immunity would be more protective, pregnancy, breastfeeding or not believing in the protection of the vaccine. While 12.2% of the participants recommended Sinovac-CoronaVac, 23.7% recommended Pfizer/BioNTech, and 63.3% stated that they would evaluate the patient and make recommendations. Most of the participants stated that they thought the Pfizer/BioNTech is more protective against new variants (70.4%), more effective and produces a higher antibody response (84.2%) and provides longer-term protection (74.8%). However, 74.1% of the participants stated that they thought Sinovac-CoronaVac is safer. Sinovac-CoronaVac was recommended to patients with a history of allergic reaction/anaphylaxis (69.8%), autoimmune diseases (60.4%), oncology/chemotherapy patients (49.6%), immunosuppressed patients (49.6) and lactating women (44.6%). Conclusions. In some case-basis recommendations, it was seen that the residents showed a traditionalist approach. Informing individuals based on scientific information on the safety and effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccines by family physicians is crucial. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

BACKGROUND: Many factors threaten occupational health and safety, such as technology and production systems used by businesses as well as employee qualifications. This research addresses the issue of how these factors have become a threat to occupational health and safety. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to determine whether healthcare professionals' fatalistic perceptions affect their perceptions of occupational health and safety practices. METHOD: The population of the study consists of 538 nurses and other auxiliary healthcare professionals working in a private hospital in Istanbul. The study initially intended to reach the whole population without establishing a sample, but 221 (41.1%) employees were reached due to reasons such as the shift system, employees' unwillingness to participate, and personnel on leave. The study employed a survey form consisting of three parts as data collection tool. The first part of the survey includes demographic information, the second part is a Fatalism Scale and the last part is the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Practices Scale. Descriptive statistical analyses and SEM analysis were used for data analysis. The analyses were performed within the 95% confidence interval. RESULTS: A negative relationship was found between fatalism and occupational health and safety practices. In addition, employees' fatalistic perceptions negatively affect their occupational health and safety practices. CONCLUSION: Fatalistic perception plays an important role in occupational health and safety practices. For this reason, employees can be shown through trainings that occupational accidents are not fate and can be prevented by certain measures they can take. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: The attitudes of healthcare workers toward COVID‐19 vaccines ensure that health services are able to run without interruption and potentially have a role in the messaging about vaccination that they convey to the public. Hence, healthcare workers' attitudes ultimately have a significant role in controlling the pandemic. This study aimed to qualitatively investigate the attitudes of healthcare workers in Turkey in relation to COVID‐19 vaccines. Methods: The study used the phenomenological approach. The sample consisted of 36 healthcare workers who were employed during the COVID‐19 pandemic. Data were collected online using focus group interviews. A total of four focus group interviews were conducted. Findings: Following analysis of the data, the attitudes of healthcare workers in Turkey toward the COVID‐19 vaccine were divided into three themes: "influencing factors," "priority group" and "trust." Conclusions: Vaccination was found to create negative emotions among some of the healthcare workers. Their opinions about the COVID‐19 vaccines were affected by the negative emotions and burnout they experienced during the pandemic. In addition, they saw the vaccination process as impacted by contraindications and uncertainty about the duration of the protection, the balance of the benefits and harm of the vaccines, and by vaccine myths and prejudices about the country where the vaccine was developed. Healthcare professionals expressed the need for trust to be established in the whole vaccination process. They suggested that different vaccine options should be offered, that the appointment and process notification system for vaccination should be improved, that evidence‐based information about vaccines should be provided and that a safe environment should be created. Practice Implications: Vaccine hesitancy can be addressed by careful attention to the application of vaccination programs, correct and effective use of social media, transparent, and precise management of political processes, and the provision of evidence‐based information about the vaccines. This study was planned with the purpose of developing a qualified professional belonging scale that may reveal the professional belonging levels of midwives. The study prepared a 30-item, 5-point Likert-type scale containing general question statements related to professional belonging that were prepared as a result of a literature review, focus group meetings and expert opinions. The scale was tested with 300 midwives who were employed in two provinces in Turkey. The obtained data were used to test the scale's validity and reliability. In the validity–reliability analysis of the scale, exploratory factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha coefficient and item-total score correlation were used. As a result of the factor analysis and Varimax rotation, it was determined that the scale consisted of 22 items and had a four-factor structure that explained 63.846% of the total variance. The internal consistency coefficient (Cronbach's alpha) of the scale was calculated as 0.905. It was determined that the scale which was named as the Midwifery Belonging Scale (MBS) is a valid and reliable instrument. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
